Selar Bar & Bistro in Gwynedd

Small little friendly place. Dogs accepted. Very average decor inside but the important thing is the food is great and the prices are really good considering the quality of the ingredients. They deserve to do great with the quality of the cooking and the top class meat, fish & game. 9/10 for food and value for money. Great cocktails also. I’ve slightly marked down for lack of atmosphere but that’s really not that important.

Well last time we came here we had tapas bit when we went on Friday evening the menu had completely changed ìt was more fine dining. The menu was small which was fine but a couple of our party did struggle as there was nothing plain well what a surprise the food was sensational and the waitress was lovely had a fabulous meal and great cocktails we will be back thank you

Stumbled on this place and liked it so much went the second night. Considering we were only in Pwllheli 2 nights, shows how much we liked it. Top food and top service. Would definitely recommend it

I booked to eat here as we ate there last year when it was a tapas restaurant and it was good. How disappointed we were tonight. We were seated next to the entrance to the kitchen and every time a waitress came through the door we were in a wind tunnel. The manager did say he would move us to another table but this didn't happen. I have intollerances to a few foods and even though the staff were aware of this my needs weren't met and all I could have to eat for my main was braised ox cheek and though it was OK I don't really like red meat. Won't be visiting again!!

Had lunch today. Really good 3 courses prosseco starter with cocktails to finish . Food was superb, service spot on booked for later in the week at night. Dog friendly in part of the bar area.

Had a great, delicious meal! Good choice of seafood (couldn't find snywhere else in Pwllheli offering any fish other than fish 'n chips). And, they're dog friendly. Well done, I'll be back!

My husband and I had an amazing evening at Selar bar and bistro. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly especially the hosts, Gabon d Shirley who were most welcoming and we look forward to going there again.

Stumbled across this place whilst walking around town. So happened to be Steak Night, so we booked and was not disappointed. Food and Drinks were all gorgeous and the service was fantastic. Would highly recommend to others and we would definitely come back if we're ever in the area. Dog Friendly too which is do nice to see.

Amazing. Great food. Great staff. Not much of a tapas menu though... but plenty of great options to choose from. Defo going back. Tip... make a reservation as it one of only 2 good restaurants in the area! Oh and the cocktails should defo be tried!

Nice place and fair prices also allows dogs food was nice staff were polite,helpful,friendly only reason didn't give a 5 was it was redhot no Aircon and was dark inside.

Was really looking forward to visiting Selar based on other reviews and the interesting menu, however, we left very disappointed. The starters were nice, we had halloumi fries. Meatballs & prawns; all were tasty. The mains were a let down. My partner ordered a medium steak, but it was overcooked. I ordered the trio of lamb, the braised lamb was awful. The fondant potato was hard as were the side order of patatas bravas. The child in our group ordered sausage & mash with no peas. Order came with a mountain of peas and the mash was so salty she couldn't eat it. When received the dessert menu was told that there was no vanilla ice cream available. No problem you might think, however, nearly all the deserts came with vanilla ice cream, so leaving us with virtually nothing to choose from. Best of all there is a spar supermarket 100 yards away..you think they would go and buy some. Really disappointed, especially in the current cost of living crisis when eating out is a luxury.

We had a lovely meal for a group of 10 at Selar Bistro Pwllheli. All of our group was saying how friendly the staff were and how good the service was. The food was delicious and catered for my mother in law who has coeliac disease. We highly recommend Selar to anyone looking for great food, cocktails, atmosphere and value. We looking forward to visiting again. Diolch yn fawr!

Nice little place , dog friendly Good menu choices

Stumbled across this Jewel in the Crown, possibly the nicest tapas I have ever tasted. The owners and Staff are so warm and welcoming and the service is second to none. We have already rebooked whilst we are staying nearby. It’s definitely a must try , you won’t be disappointed 👌

A lovely little place, very friendly staff with a great selection of drinks, the food was nice (we had a 3 course meal) however it took an eternity to come, almost 15minutes before being asked for drinks (I went to the bar) never asked again if we wanted more drinks even though we were empty for 45mins. I would recommend that they stick to Taps only because I just don't feel that they can cope in the kitchen with the mains. 2hrs 10mins for 3 courses is insane in a place as small.

Would recommend if in Pwhelli. We came for for the bottomless brunch. Food was lovely and brunch was reasonably priced. Ladies were lovely who serving us and drinks were flowing.

Just had a lovely evening at Selar Bistro Pwllheli. Such friendly staff. Great service and price. Just moved to Pwllheli to live 10 weeks ago so still finding our way around regarding where to go to eat out etc. will definitely make this a go to place to eat. Thank you.

Noticed the Selar while driving through town. Made a reservation for the same evening and please we did - near max capacity @ 1930 Lovely covid-safe welcome and was shown to our table. Fantastic cocktail menu - highly recommend the Mojito! When restrictions are over this is going to be a lovely cocktail venue. Nice, menu with lots of local produce. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked superb We went for a selar special sharing board (a slight hiccup with missing cheese was quickly resolved) Main courses were steak and lamb 3 ways. Again, a small hiccup with overdone steak was quickly resolved by the manager (& owner?) and 2 lovely meals were had. Will definitely return and highly recommend.
