We were recommended to try Manon's for breakfast by the owner of STORI in Bala. The breakfast was just what the doctor ordered - good local produce, hot, well cooked and tasty. The staff were chatty and friendly and Manon's has the added benefit of being attached to the White Water Rafting centre, where you can watch groups fly down the river-it looks like great fun. Definitely worth the short drive if you're in need of a full breakfast.

Just an awareness for vegan/lactose free customers... We ordered 2 vegan breakfasts and the menu said add eggs to make it vegetarian. I ordered it without eggs and with an extra hash brown instead. Had this conversation with the friendly lady serving and she said the eggs are no extra cost but the eggs are an option to make it a vegetarian breakfast so we got hash brown instead as it was the same price. It arrived without the mushrooms so we asked and were told that they had run out which was disappointing as we weren't told this when ordering and weren't offered an alternative but still paid the same price. Then we tried the toast and unfortunately knew it was dairy butter so we checked this and were told that we didn't tell them that we were vegan when ordering. This is confusing as we ordered the vegan breakfast (and two oat milk lattes) so would assume it comes with vegan butter not dairy butter. They replaced the toast which was good although it was hardly toasted and had soo much butter on it when we got the vegan one which felt annoying but we couldn't be bothered to ask about something else. Overall disappointing as good vegan breakfasts are so few and far between in the area and we paddle at the Tryweryn as well so really like the venue. But especially having paid over £20 for two breakfasts/coffees we would've liked to have not experienced this. Usually hate writing negative reviews and sorry to write one but we do appreciate a bit of feedback about vegan food so thought others might like to be aware too. So maybe just clarify that you're vegan when ordering the vegan breakfast. Sausages are the Linda McCartney ones which from my experience, have a negative reputation in the plant based world and they didn't have any vegan sausage rolls unfortunately. On the bright side, good to see Branston beans and not cheapo ones! And the servers were friendly, dogs allowed, free parking and obviously the river next to it!

Staggeringly rude owner, had a coffee whilst catching up on emails, went up to order another drink when I was hit with a barrage of abuse about being there a long time and only ordering a coffee, I checked and at that stage it was 32 minutes which I said only to be called a liar (I really can tell the time ) ordered another drink anyway (as I had always intended to), then obviously decided to leave. I've visited this centre many times as my son has raced there over the years, this is the last time I'll spend a second in there. My visit was 37 minutes in total, I don't think that's an unreasonable time for two drinks. The cafe wasn't full and I was minding my own business in the corner.

Judging by the reviews of other cafes in the area this is probably the best - not sure why more people don't review? Maybe an indication of the smaller number of visitors to the cafe as it is a little out of the way from the nearest town (Bala). Having said that, the staff maybe need to be encouraged to engage with customers so that they feel that they want to review.... sorry for starting with some negatives but hopefully feedback is welcome.

Super visit with wonderful coffee and cake, other people eating meals which looked lovely. Before or after or both you can enjoy a lovely walk along the river Tryweryn and see what the white water canoeists and rafters have to endure.

Visited Manons cafe with a group of walkers (around 36) and received a warm welcome, along with a good cup of coffee and homemade shortbread biscuits. We were served quickly and efficiently with top ups offered for the tea and coffee. The cafe is situated at the National White water Centre and has lovely views of the river and a pleasant outdoor area. Thanks again to the ladies for looking after us so well.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Our coach group (Flintshire Explorers) has been to this gem of a café on several previous occasions. Yes the coffee is good, the homemade biscuits superb, the location by the river wonderful, BUT it is the welcome we are always given by Manon and her staff which draws us back again and again. If you haven't popped in for a coffee or perhaps a breakfast please do so whenever you are in the area - you won't be disappointed. If the water is flowing and you get the chance to watch the rafts and canoes then that is a bonus - why not try yourself. Superb facilities and great views. Manon has helped out with a meal for our party in the past and also arranged a birthday cake surprise for one of our regular passengers so if you are planning a celebration for adults or children alike please do enquire. Our group will certainly be back. Thanks again

Visited cafe after white water rafting - a lovely surprise. Not what you’d expect from a cafe tagged on to a sports facility - delicious freshly cooked food for a reasonable price, with a lovely smile! The cafe was very busy when we arrived (catering for a visiting rugby team) but our food was served quickly. Everyone in the group ordered different items and none were disappointed. The chilli and chips comes highly recommended!

Great food although a little pricey (hence 4 stars) but it’s a lovely little cafe and always ready to serve at whatever time. We’ll be back 👍

… I’d get a room with a view, & it didn’t disappoint. Room was up a couple of flights of stairs, but it worked the breakfast off. Beautifully presented breakfast, we had the full English on day 1, day 2 I had bacon & egg on toast :-)’’ MrDW had the pancakes, which was the highlight of his day. We absolutely loved the tea, coffee bags which was a 1st for us, hot choccy, & biscuits were best of all. As if we weren’t spoilt enough, we could help ourselves to sparkling or still water, & milk for our drinks, from the fridge on the landing. The bed was comfy, & a king, yet MrDW still managed to fall out of it in the early hours & cut his face on the corner of the bedside table. Loved the bathroom & all the toiletries in there. We didn’t get around to having a drink or food, other than breakfast. So I expect that we shall have to return to do this, & I’d also love to go through that lovely breakfast menu again.

Don't miss out, this is the best icecream we have ever had ! The staff were friendly and informative, plenty of flavour options including a very interesting sea buckthorn.

Good food, graet beer. Late decision to eat there, hadn't booked but they made space for us on what seemed to be a very busy evening.

Let's get the grumpy stuff out of the way. Whoever had been co-opted to front of house was miserable and accused me of asking for a white wine when I gave her the number of a red one. Then argued with me. When we looked at the menu, of five or six items, only one was still on- beef- which was what we all wanted anyway. It was the best Sunday lunch that I have had for about four years. The meat was succulent, not over-cooked, and the vegetables done to perfection. Tasty gravy and a great Yorkshire pudding. The woman who was keeping an eye on the callow waiting staff was lovely and friendly. A great place. Pannacotta for dessert and £23 for two courses. The place is fantastic. I understand it might be community-run, in which case they should allocate jobs to people who are temperamentally suited to carrying them out. If you want choice, maybe not for you, but a damn fine roast beef.
