An eclectic place which I don't don't fully get but the staff were lovely, the cheesecake was epic and the coffee was spot on. Perfect for a post mountain treat. The cheesecake here is so good, always a few choices and the other cakes are just as fabulous. Savory food is also available from lighter snacks to hearty portions for lunch. The coffee here is also really good. Very smooth and served nice and hot

Fantastic café. Lovely food - try the Bakewell slice. Really friendly family atmosphere. If the busy downstairs area is full there is a large room upstairs which is usually much quieter and has a lot of comfortable sofas. One slight disappointment to note was that the pastry base on the quiches was rather soggy.

Absolutely awesome cafe. Firstly it was was open when others locally were not, but... The staff were amazing and super polite and engaging. The tea was huge bit that paled into insignificance next to the size of the cake portion! Some might say a wi-fi password of bestcafeintown is cocky or arrogant. It absolutely isn't. This place looked amazing on Google reviews, and after a lovely drive into this beautiful town, we were very optimistic. Our visit started well with a lovely entrance and appealing food display. However, we were disappointed to find no tables downstairs. In hindsight, we should have left at this point. We were directed upstairs, where we began to notice the quaint charm giving way to a much dirtier atmosphere. It started with a kennel cage at the back and wall-to-wall dirty carpet. In this day and age, no food and beverage establishment should have carpets, especially if they allow dogs. Upstairs was even worse. It consisted of old, mismatched, and tired fabric sofas. Nothing matched, and everything looked grim. My wife’s instincts were telling her to leave, but I insisted we stay, still remembering the appealing food from downstairs. We ordered warm food and a couple of soft drinks, though our spirits continued to sink in the unappealing surroundings. This place has enormous potential, but it needs serious renovation. When our food arrived, it was pleasant but nothing special, certainly not reflective of the entrance and display. As we were about to leave, my wife noticed foil on the floor. Upon investigating, I discovered what appeared to be an ancient, mummified leftover jacket potato. If it weren't for our dogs, it might have remained as a historic artifact for future patrons. Even our dogs refused to eat it, which says a lot. We quickly departed and spent the next hour dealing with bouts of dry heaving at the thought of what we had found and the overall cleanliness. To the owners, I wish you every success, but please, please gut the upper floor and start again. This place has so much potential with just a small investment and some imagination.

Slightly disappointing visit to TH Roberts. The Cafe is in what appears to be an old pub. It is really cool and quirky. The cakes and sweet bits all look really lovely in the counters. We had 2 cheesecakes and the biscoff one was really nice however the other, that had cream swirls, had thick hairy black mould underneath the cream. We quickly took this back to the counter and showed this to a member of staff who replied with 'I can't see any mould' but offered to replace it. The rest of the cake that it came from was left in the counter unit until we left about 15 minutes later so unsure if it was binned. Would expect it to be chucked out if one of the slices has thick black hairy mould. The cheesecake was very nice, just isn't ideal for it to have mould growing on it.

I only ever write reviews for places that are utterly amazing or that are jaw droppingy awful: in order to help good businesses and extract the Mickey from dumps. Straightforward you might think.... until now! Been going to TH Roberts for many years - regular holidays to the Mawddach area. This place is so WONDERFUL that I almost thought of giving it 1 star so that when I go it can be really quiet instead of busy . Thus enabling the amazing chef to provide the gorgeous breakfast bap ( veggie OR meaty) and the brilliant barista the delish coffee as quickly as possible. Thus enabling me to wolf it down and then quickly follow it up with another coffee and some of the flippin' AMAZING baking. Whoever baked the chocolate peanut granola thing I had this morning should be recommended for some sort of medal - maybe for services beyond the call of duty to General Life Enjoyment and Taste Bud Ultra-Tickling? In case I haven't made myself clear this place is rather good. It IS the best cafe in Dolgellau/Gwynedd/Wales/The Universe. Please don't go, but if you must at least leave a table free for me.

One of my favourite cafes anywhere, situated in a fine old building in the centre of town. Sensibly the interior remains much as it was when it used to be a hardware store and is all the more impressive for it, with a long counter and plenty of seating on the ground and upper floor. Breakfast are terrific although i suspect one of the main reasons for customers visiting are the fabulous cakes, made by the owner, 'Meg Queen of Cakes', as described by The Sunday Times. Quirky setting with a large and varied menu which justifies making repeat visits! The breakfasts are generous (with a few portion size options) and will satisfy meat-eaters and veggies alike - the veggie sausages are a worth a try, being vegetable-based rather than 'fake meat'. There is a massive range of cakes, with more being baked in-house throughout the day. Coffees are good, and smoothies and milkshakes are a refreshing alternative. The building is unique, and there's plenty to look at while you wait for your order to be prepared. The owners welcome guests taking photos, but ask them to consider donating to the RNLI to support the local Coastguard - a nice touch. Service is friendly and good-humoured, suited to dealing with the mix of tourists, cyclists and locals who can't stay away. Thanks for keeping us fuelled up on our visit to Dolgellau :)

… I’d get a room with a view, & it didn’t disappoint. Room was up a couple of flights of stairs, but it worked the breakfast off. Beautifully presented breakfast, we had the full English on day 1, day 2 I had bacon & egg on toast :-)’’ MrDW had the pancakes, which was the highlight of his day. We absolutely loved the tea, coffee bags which was a 1st for us, hot choccy, & biscuits were best of all. As if we weren’t spoilt enough, we could help ourselves to sparkling or still water, & milk for our drinks, from the fridge on the landing. The bed was comfy, & a king, yet MrDW still managed to fall out of it in the early hours & cut his face on the corner of the bedside table. Loved the bathroom & all the toiletries in there. We didn’t get around to having a drink or food, other than breakfast. So I expect that we shall have to return to do this, & I’d also love to go through that lovely breakfast menu again.

Don't miss out, this is the best icecream we have ever had ! The staff were friendly and informative, plenty of flavour options including a very interesting sea buckthorn.

Good food, graet beer. Late decision to eat there, hadn't booked but they made space for us on what seemed to be a very busy evening.

Let's get the grumpy stuff out of the way. Whoever had been co-opted to front of house was miserable and accused me of asking for a white wine when I gave her the number of a red one. Then argued with me. When we looked at the menu, of five or six items, only one was still on- beef- which was what we all wanted anyway. It was the best Sunday lunch that I have had for about four years. The meat was succulent, not over-cooked, and the vegetables done to perfection. Tasty gravy and a great Yorkshire pudding. The woman who was keeping an eye on the callow waiting staff was lovely and friendly. A great place. Pannacotta for dessert and £23 for two courses. The place is fantastic. I understand it might be community-run, in which case they should allocate jobs to people who are temperamentally suited to carrying them out. If you want choice, maybe not for you, but a damn fine roast beef.
