A nice cafe with great views of Harlech Castle. The breakfast offering is varied and delicious. The cappuccino is absolutely recommended! If the weather is bad you can sit inside, although there aren't very many tables. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a parking lot directly at the café (charges apply). However, it is not very large and therefore quickly occupied.

What a fantastic place this is! The breakfast was superb and the service so friendly and fast. They also do delicious homemade cakes which are brilliant. To top it all, you have fantastic views of the castle and if it's nice and warm, you can sit outside and be even closer to the castle. If only they did evening meals. Lovely setting, beautiful view and good coffee but the food let it down. I went with my husband, unfortunately we just missed breakfast so opted for early lunch. Flatbread with hummus and roasted vegetables off the special’s board was very disappointing, the roasted vegetables consisted of onions and courgette, not very flavoursome. It was crying out for peppers and tomatoes for colour and flavour against the hummus. The ham and cheese panini wasn’t much better ham was sparse and soft crisps, balsamic dressing gave both dishes some help, very tasty.

After a lovely blustery few hours at Harlech Beach, we drove up to the castle entrance and stopped for a late lunch at the castle caffi (cafe). The food was nice and the portions were generous however as expected it was quite pricey. We had sandwiches, a traditional Welsh Rarebit and drinks for 6 (4 adults and 2 children) and it cost £68. The castle had arranged a traditional children entertainer, a wonderfully unexpected surprise which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

The views from this cafe are the best thing about it and the clear glass frontage gives you an excellent vista of the front of Harlech Castle. The food was OK. Men of Harlech sing for your supper (lunch) Any cheese on toast, sorry I mean Welsh Rarebit, that has the melted cheese running down the side of the sourdough gets my vote. A modest salad (with drizzle), coleslaw and a little pot of pickle - recommended. PS with a view exceeded only by the sea view from the castle. Probably worth going just for the view. The food and drink (latte and tuna panini ) was fine, but it was so disappointing that when I ordered in Welsh (un latte mawr ac un tuna panini os gwelwch yn dda) I was told bluntly that the server didn't speak welsh. No attempt to understand - it really wasn't difficult! Its a shame that this server didn't make any apoplogy or attempt to learn some basic Welsh - please/ thank you/ one, two three etc. To think that it was here that Owain Glyndwr held his second Parliament, and the staff show such little respect for the language, history and culture that the castle represents.

I usually start with the positives - but if you are reading this you are probably thinking about going here so I'll start with some tips for you. 1. The entrance to the cafe is through the Castle / visitors entrance doors next to the castle car park (max 3 hr stay) but you can eat/drink at the cafe without paying to visit the castle 2. When you enter the cafe there is no menu on display - a little tip here - get a table first - because when you get to the counter they will ask "which table are you at?" 3. Confusingly there are no menus on the tables either - they are at the till - so once you've got your table (see #2 above) grab a menu from the side of the till (you may have to go to the front of the queue to grab a menu) 4. Go back to your table and choose at leisure before you join the queue to the till (where others will be asked "which table are you at" and bizarrely they wont have seen the menu yet) 5. There are toilets just to the right before you enter the cafe - we never used them so cant comment on them. Now to the good bits. Good menu - plenty of choice - I had the veggie breakfast and it was perfect; the coffee was also top quality, so I had to have another. The Mrs had the small meat breakfast but she said that was not great - you will see from the photos that you get a lot for a "small breakfast" There are seats inside and out - the views are phenomenal so try to get an outside table if the weather is good, it can be a bit windy but they provide blankets (nice touch). Service was good, albeit a couple of the servers got confused with table numbers so took the food to the wrong table. Tables are cleaned promptly and get a good spray and wipe down. Would we eat here again - 100% yes - I'd say it does the best veggie breakfast in Harlech - unless someone can prove me wrong. You can visit the castle before or after eating here (or just eat here if you've already seen the castle). I would rate this place 4.5 rather than 5 out of 5 because of the confusing table/menu fiasco. Just a suggestion to the owners - if you want your customers to select a table first - put menus on them; or at least a little poster at the entrance to the cafe to say select a table before ordering. Or put a menu on display at the entrance rather than at the till. But either way I will definitely eat here again next time we are in Harlech.

Dogs not allowed inside the cafe, fair enough, but with no outside seats available and several empty seats inside, I asked if I could take 2 outside. A firm NO followed, in case people wanted to use them! Even though 2 people sat at a table with 4 chairs and several dog owners were standing outside waiting! Several Customers moved on elsewhere, lost income for the Castle. To add to that a party of 3 had eaten their meal, the waitress cleared their table and they sat enjoying the sunshine at the empty table for a further 20 minutes and were not asked to move by staff!! It is not the fault of the Caffi Castell that a man with a walkitalki greets you at the entrance and talks through to the lady at food counter, to ask if seating available. It's just the covid requirements for entry. There is a strict one way system once inside (use the wc as you enter as you can't go there once inside and seated.. No retracing steps!) Order food at the counter and go to your allocated seat/table to await your food, which arrives in box and cardboard cup. No lovely China serving which this place is known for. I was given a seat outside with lovely view of the castle. Bacon and brie toastie came with salad and coleslaw in its box and was very good. Earl gray tea in cardboard cup. The staff were all very friendly and sympathetic of the government restrictions they are having to abide by. Apart from roped off access areas to the Caffi and Castle grounds, the system worked efficiently so full marks to them all. Town Public loos were locked so important to get your needs sorted in right order as no freedom on spur of moment. 😁

Went to this Cafe at 16:40 (meant to close at 17:00) only to be greeted by an extremely scruffy, dirty looking guy with gingerish, fithly looking hair. We hadn’t even entered the cafe and we were still outside when he rushed out to tell us to get out and he was shutting the gate! He was unbelievably rude! We are on holiday in Wales and have found the service everywhere to be excellent so very disappointed in this place. Though after seeing the state of him it would put me off eating here anyway. We will not be back!

Amazing ice cream, I love ice cream and I might be bold enough to say this is the best ice cream ever! Fav was the lemon flavour but tried honeycomb, peanut and salted caramel and all were amazing! Portions were very generous! People who work/ run the shop and make the ice cream are lovely too!

I was looking online for Portmeirion Village tickets and noticed that they were included if you took lunch in the Castell's Brasserie - what a fab idea. I hadn't told my wife and daughter, and made up an excuse about us having to stop at the Castell to collect our village entry tickets. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the views from the Brasserie were amazing. The waiting staff were courteous and professional and the menu included a couple of fab veggie options. Our starters did seem to take a while to arrive, but there were a lot of people on our sitting, and when they arrived they were just gorgeous. You could see the skill and pride that had gone into making and presenting the food, it was phenomenal. Highly recommended.

Let's get the grumpy stuff out of the way. Whoever had been co-opted to front of house was miserable and accused me of asking for a white wine when I gave her the number of a red one. Then argued with me. When we looked at the menu, of five or six items, only one was still on- beef- which was what we all wanted anyway. It was the best Sunday lunch that I have had for about four years. The meat was succulent, not over-cooked, and the vegetables done to perfection. Tasty gravy and a great Yorkshire pudding. The woman who was keeping an eye on the callow waiting staff was lovely and friendly. A great place. Pannacotta for dessert and £23 for two courses. The place is fantastic. I understand it might be community-run, in which case they should allocate jobs to people who are temperamentally suited to carrying them out. If you want choice, maybe not for you, but a damn fine roast beef.
