Sadly this place has gone downhill in my opinion, I used to visit quite often but on my last visit we had to ask if it was ok to sit at a table although there were free tables, you are supposed to wait to be seated but stood for ages waiting . Service was extremely slow and items I asked for ie sauces , we never got. The waitress was on her phone behind the counter. Tea cups were badly stained and the tea pot was in need of being put through the dishwasher. Lots of food on the menu not available even though it was 2.30pm and the meal my child had was very overcooked. A very disappointing visit.

Fairly basic menu at above basic prices. Service was slow. Food was OK, but no more than that. Fine for a quick coffee and to take the weight off your feet if youre in the area or at the musuem, but wouldn't go out my way to go there.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea in this beautiful cafe in the grounds of The David Livingstone Centre with 11 friends. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The afternoon tea was delicious with an abundance of beautiful sandwiches, homemade scones with jam and cream and sweet treats.🥰

We arrived today after attending an Easter party in the hall next door. There was a large number of us so we had asked to put tables together which wasn't a problem the staff couldn't have been more helpful. However once we ordered our food and drinks (food was cakes, 3 rolls and 2 French toast) we were served out food and had finished it and we were still awaiting drinks. There appears to be a large volume of staff on so we have no idea why the drinks were such a delay, even the soft drinks weren't delivered whilst the hot ones were made.

Enjoyed the most fabulous Afternoon Tea today for Mothers Day. If you haven’t tried it then I would recommend this lovely Cafe in the grounds of the David Livingstone Centre.

We had walked along the river from Bothwell Castle on a wet day and were so pleased to find that we could take our dog into the café for lunch. (He sat in the corner!) We had delicious homemade soup and half sandwich/toastie combo which was very reasonable at £4.95. Shared a portion of chips and a piece of cake. Everything very tasty. The restaurant was busy which was great to see. Definitely worth popping in for a tasty treat!

We called into cafe and were met with a warm welcome and shown to a table. We were with friends who lived nearby and were taking us to the David Livingstone museum and decided to have a coffee and cake first. We were so glad we did, the cake selection was fantastic and all home baked. Our friends were asking about the dumpling cake as they could remember having it years ago, Hazel very kindly brought a taster,it was hard to resist so Tom had a slice and we opted for the freshly baked scones, all very nice, along with coffee and a nice pot of tea, served with a china cup, always tastes better in my opinion. It was such a good experience,I wish I lived nearer, although I am sure our friends will be popping in again, and we will make sure we do next time on holiday.

My husband said it was the best cooked breakfast he’d had in a very long time. Home baking excellent and the coffee is great. Our second visit and we’ll definitely be back again. I liked the light airy environment and the setting too. Staff very friendly abd helpful.

Fantastic food selection, great friendly staff. We had the roast lamb on Easter Sunday and the southern fried chicken wrap as well as mozzarella melts. Portion sizes were amazing and food tasted great. Love the fact it's dog friendly as well as great fit families with the play park nearby. Hidden Gem with great food and a cake selection that has you salivating. You wont be disappointed.

I have been Coming to this little cafe on a Saturday morning for a few weeks now and it’s honestly lovely .. The food is fantastic they have great menu for lunch and breakfast.. the staff are really friendly it’s also dog friendly too which is brilliant as I’m a massive dog lover.. I genuinely get the feeling of community spirit here.. the place is always full of dog walkers on their morning walk so it’s a great place to have a chit chat with likeminded people.. I genuinely couldn’t recommend it more

To Phil and Sandy...We just wanted to send a five star plus review after our final visit to our favourite restaurant...which is sadly closing we have been going to this wonderful restaurant for over 20 years the food is brilliant but more importantly the hospitality is fab. You will be sadly missed and best wishes for the future see you around!!!!

Always great food and service, they’ve really turned the place around from a cafe to a restaurant. Going to give the steak night a try next!

Food was pretty good and reasonable. We have been previously, it was nice to see that the premises had been given a lick of paint . Would definitely return.
