Great preparation, great taste, great ambiance and a great host. This place is a true gem.

A Delightful Taste of Morocco in the Heart of the City Venturing into this quaint Moroccan restaurant with friends turned out to be a cultural journey that we didn't know we needed. From the moment we stepped in, the specific and authentic design elements transported us straight to the heart of Morocco, making us feel as though we had traveled thousands of miles from the hustle and bustle of our own city. The ambience was warm and inviting, a perfect backdrop for the culinary adventure that awaited us. I decided on the slow-cooked lamb, a decision that I can only describe as absolutely divine. The lamb was tender, succulent, and bursting with traditional Moroccan flavours, a testament to the chef's mastery over traditional cooking methods and spice blends. Each bite was a piece of heaven, leaving me and my friends thoroughly impressed and satisfied. This restaurant is not just a place to eat; it's an experience, a journey to Morocco without leaving your seat. The combination of the cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delectable traditional Moroccan dishes makes it a hidden gem in the city. I am already looking forward to my next visit, eager to explore more of the culinary delights that this incredible place has to offer. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Moroccan cuisine.

This place had decent food and the atmosphere was nice. It's a little overdone with the decor, but has its own family run charm. We came with a baby so they sat three of us at a huge table at the back. This table probably could have fit 10 people haha. But it was fine. We had soup and calamari for starters. The soup was tasty with Moroccan bread to dip. For mains, my friend had a filo pastry vegetable dish (sorry I've forgotten the name!) which looked great. Then my husband and I shared a lamb shank tagine, which was the perfect portion for the two of us and very tender. The tagine included some potatoes, green peas and carrots and you are also offered a side of chips, cous cous or rice. Overall good authentic food for a casual lunch or dinner.

Recently l had lunch here and the food was excellent! I would highly recommend the vegetable tagine/mint tea.

This place is an absolute gem, I can't fault it. The staff welcomed us with such warmth and made sure we felt right at home from the get-go. The traditional Moroccan decor was stunning, and oh, the food! I chose the poussin tagine stuffed with fluffy couscous, I couldn't get enough. I could tell they put so much love and care into every bite. It's a culinary journey you don't want to miss out on!

I visited Little Marrakesh on Mother’s Day with my family, it was nice enough but I’m not sure I’d visit again. The restaurant itself is very small so on a number of occasions I felt like the table next to me or behind me were listening to our conversation as they were in such close proximity and on occasion got some looks from the gentleman on the table next to us (I’d like to add that there were 4 of us and we weren’t loud at all.) For starter we had hummus, smoked salmon and the halloumi salad which we all really enjoyed. Definitely not enough bread to go with the hummus but I find this is the case in most restaurants on dishes that require bread as they want you to pay for another portion. For mains we had the meatball tagine and I had the beef tagine which was a special on the day. I was really disappointed by the beef tagine. It was served on vegetables and potatoes which was fine and the 3/4 large chunks of beef were cooked perfectly but it lacked flavour. I’ve had Moroccan a couple of times before and they were always bursting with herbs and spices and a really great sauce but unfortunately this had neither. The sauce was very oily, in fact it felt like about 90% oil and very little else. The service was good and the pricing was very affordable, it cost about £140 for 4 people (although we didn’t have any alcoholic drinks) but these are not strong enough reasons for me to return again I’m afraid.

We’ve not been to Little Marrakesh for a few years. I was so disappointed at the quality of the food. The service was excellent. It was reasonable. I had a fish dish and the portion was TINY! The main course was so hot when it arrived we couldn’t eat it for ages. I left feeling disappointed.

Been here 3 times during the day now. Once alone and twice with hubby. I can't fault it. I'm veggie and there's plenty of choice. My husband had lamb tagine this time and loved it. Every meal has been first class Best wraps and sandwiches too. Lovely staff. Will be back when in St. Albans.

food is okayish priced, didn't particularly like my dish but trying my girlfriend's one was absolutely delicious, mine wasn't bad just not to my taste, the meats are cooked and seasoned beautifully and definitely do try the camembert, it was delectable, and waiting time was very good especially considering there was just 1 waiter in the whole restaurant

I came here 4 years ago and haven't been back, but last November I went 2 times and it was great. The food was hot, delicious, inexpensive, and there was only one waitress. But she's effective. And did a good job, definitely I will become a regular customer here.

The little Marrakech Moroccan restaurant is in the Market place of St Albans just opposite the old town hall (now a museum ) They do a lunchtime set menu also on Sundays ( £14.95 ) so we called in to try. It is little inside hence the name nice decor and atmosphere with pleasant staff. Service and food came prompt , the camembert starter was a delight and the main dish also. Our first time visit we will be back.

Great little place as the title suggests. Intimate with a Moroccan atmosphere. Owner and host provide a family welcome. Food is great, with the tagines ample in flavour and size. Day and evening menu's vary...so my next stop will be for an evening experience.

Second visit to Little Maracech and didn't disappoint. Fantastic atmosphere, service and food. I had Trio Grill Mezze an absolute meat feast. My partner had Sultan Kadra a lamb dish where the meat literally fell off the bone. If you're not a meat eater then there are plenty of vegetarian meals. If you haven't been yet you need to go!

Great little place, not too expensive and the food is delicious! The only slight negative being that the steak in the trio grill was well done as opposed to us being asked how it was to be cooked, but that certainly didn't spoil the meal.

Like the previous reviewer I was also here for my, and my friend's, birthdays. The decor is attractive - but not matched by the food, which is bland , boring and plain. They did not have our chosen wine on the menu and the waiter suggested a substitute which was also bland and extremely disappointing.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for years and thought my birthday meal with my family would be a great opportunity. However we were all so disappointed. I have never eaten such bland Moroccan food. The meze starter was a pile of cold tasteless potato carrot and beetroot. The monkfish tagline was tasty but the meat taglines were completely tasteless. Incredible food, incredible service and incredible atmosphere. This was some of the best Moroccan food we have ever had (and we visited Morocco a few months ago!) we will definitely be returning with our friends, we had an absolutely incredible evening and thank you to the wonderful servers and chefs there! Very much enjoyed the traditional mint tea and one of the best restaurants in St Albans!

What a great little restaurant tucked away on St Albans high Street. Services was spot on and the food was fantastic. Will be returning for an evening meal and to try the Tagines which the table next to us had.

Delicious authentic Moroccan food

My wife and I just had a meal here with two friends. Everything was excellent start to finish. The ambience and decor of the restaurant, the service which was attentive but not intrusive and of course the food which was absolutely magnificent. Will visit again when we’re next in the area.

I had a trio of samosas with mango chutney to start, and the monkfish tagine with cous cous for main - plus some of my husband's chips which were delicious. The food was presented so well and tasted divine. The restaurant looks narrow and long from the outside, but when you go in it feels very spacious and has a lovely atmosphere. Great service and outstanding food. I'd love to go back to this gem of a restaurant.

This spot is great for lunch. I had the set menu. Merguez sausage starter followed by a lamb tagine with cous cous. Great flavour washed down with a Casablanca beer. My wife had a pancake with a glass of white wine. Great ambience brilliant staff reasonable prices highly recommend.

The food was amazing, I have eaten at a Berber home in Morocco and this reminded so much of that. The waiter was friendly and gave us good advice with the food, like, you are ordering too much, we can bring more rice if you need, and he was right!

I have been in this restaurant a couple of times and I loved it! The dishes are lovely and very unique flavours that you would not find in any other place. Had the baby poussin tagine. The flavour, enhanced with the spice saffron was so delicious. Always packed with regulars here so please book early if you want a table. Beware. The tagines arrive at you table still boiling and bubbling. Enjoy! Can’t fault the service. Always so attentive .

Absolutely wonderful ambience, great customer service and food that was both generous in portion size ( beware ) but beautifully tasty and with unique flavours … WONDERFUL

You could easily miss the door to the restaurant which is not far north of the clock tower. Once you enter it opens up bigger than you would expect. It is a small restaurant so you do need to book as it’s always busy. They have 2 sittings 6:30 and 8:30. We always go to the 6:30 and due to their excellent service never run out of time before the next sitting. The food is excellent and whilst I like to usually try different dishes when returning to the same restaurant, I always finish up ordering the monkfish tagine and my wife the lamb shank tagine. Beware! the tagines arrive in covered dishes with the food inside so hot it’s still bubbling and boiling. Unless you have asbestos mouths, Best to wait a couple of minutes or blow like mad. We love the staff and the food and know that we can recommend it without worrying. Expect to pay about £60-70 for 2.

After having passed this place many times over the years, I finally had lunch here following a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. It's small but we must have timed it right as we had not pre-booked a table. There is a good menu selection including numerous vegetarian options. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. Loved the halloumi salad and mint tea. A hidden gem.

Visiting St Albans for the first time, we managed to get a table at the last minute in this small but charming restaurant. The place was packed and I’d certainly book another time. We ordered really enjoyable tagines and couscous - add in attentive service, it was an excellent meal. At just over £100 for two for a three course meal and drinks, this was good value.
