Wow this place is incredible! The food is so delicious 😋 I had the butter paneer and it was so rich and creamy, the garlic naan was lovely and light too! I'll be back

Ordered takeaway for 5 people from here via their own website. Were excited to try based on the raving reviews on both Google and Instagram but had a mixed experience sadly. We ordered pilau rice, garlic naan, chicken jalfrezi, lamb mullar, keralan chicken curry, daal and saag alloo. Onion bajis also. The rice was lovely and flavourful as was the jalfrezi but unfortunately the rest of the dishes we thought were extremely bland and a lot was left behind. The garlic naan didn’t taste of garlic at all and the onion bajis were also bland and not crispy. It was Saturday evening but the order took 1h20 to arrive and we needed to call to check it was coming. It’s obviously a busy time but personally that’s a little too long for a takeaway order that’s a 6 minute drive away. Perhaps we didn’t order their signature dishes and I wonder if things might have been nicer if we were in the restaurant. Based on this experience though and for the price we didn’t feel it was worth it, and we wouldn’t order again. Just an observation is that a lot of the recent high reviews also state they were invited to dine here which makes me a little dubious!

Went for the first time to have a diner with my husband for my birthday at this restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious, proper traditional southern Indian food. We had a masala diss and a vegetarian share plater to start with and then as a main course fish curry and fruit jack curry with some ban bread . The place is also really lovely decorated and nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place. I can’t wait to go back to try other dishes .

We recently dined at a restaurant specialising in Kerala cuisine, and from the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the staff. During a recent trip to Wales, my friends and I had the opportunity to dine at Little Kochi, and it was an experience that far exceeded our expectations. Although we are based in London and accustomed to dining at South Indian restaurants, Little Kochi truly stood out, offering some of the best South Indian cuisine we’ve had, surpassing even what we’ve enjoyed in London. The restaurant was spotless and welcoming, creating a perfect ambiance for a relaxed evening meal. We started with a selection of appetizers, which were well-prepared and offered fresh flavors. While the starters were enjoyable and provided a good start to our meal, it was the main courses that really took the spotlight. The appam and beef curry, in particular, were absolutely outstanding. The depth of flavor and authenticity in these dishes were remarkable, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of South India. The balance of spices was impeccable, and every bite was a true delight. It’s rare to find such exceptional South Indian food, even in London, making Little Kochi a hidden gem. The service was just as commendable, with attentive staff ensuring a seamless dining experience. The team was courteous and professional, adding to the overall positive impression. In summary, Little Kochi is an exceptional find, especially for those seeking authentic South Indian flavors. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a warm, clean environment makes it a must-visit. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Wales, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

Another fantastic meal at Little Kochi. Tried the fish molee after seeing it in their JustEat advert and was really tasty. Service great, and a good selection of wines. Can’t wait to come back 🤍

Little Kochi #invite @caerdyddeats on Instagram Very kindly invited to Little Kochi in Roath yesterday evening. When we arrived I was informed by the owner Albin Sunny, that since my last visit changes have taken place with a new chef and a new menu. The staff here are always very welcoming and I am struck by the interior here. It's very calming and has references to itsSouth Indian roots. We were shown to our seats and quickly ordered a drink. The restaurant was moderately busy and had a lovely ambience. As usual, I was indecisive and talked about the many food options with my friend. The range of dishes and portion sizes make Little Kochi one of my favorite Indian restaurants. If you haven't been there, you are well and truly missing out. The first noticeable change I noticed was the starters with six options. I opted for chicken wings and my friend opted for BDF (beef strips). They arrived promptly. You cannot go wrong with a chicken wing, in this case enough spice to let you know it's there and a quality amount of meat. I also tried some of my friends beef strips now these I could eat by the bucketload, they arrived in an aesthetically pleasing basket, spectacular give me 14 of those right now. Onwards to the main dishes. This is where indecisiveness hits new levels. There's an array of vegetarian, seafood, meat and Keralan biriyanis. Catching my attention at first was the Kochin chicken dish infused with turmeric and roasted coconut. I dithered and after another swig of the delightful Kingfisher draught beer opted for the pork shoulder peralan. This dish consists of slow cooked pork which is pan seared with a spice blend of dreams with ginger, garlic, cumin, cinammon and chilli. This promptly arrived. First impressions big portion size which is a winner and hella tender meat another tick in my eyes. My friend ordered the rich creamy paneer butter masala. Bold choice I thought. After some conversation and a few more Kingfisher pints, it arrived. My friend kindly gave me some to try. This paneer was crafted from the best. I could haveeaten the whole dish. The paneer just blended so well with the spice infusion on offer. Little tip: Ensure you add rice to your dishes. It's a small extra. Let's face it you cannot come here and not have a dosa. Dosas are life. It's the rules. My choice was masala dosa. Whenever I see them, I am always surprised by their size. There was a very close call between us choosing one for each of us. A spicy potatoy jam packed with light and fluffy texture. Little Kochi is very local to me, and I admire Albin the owner's progress with Little Kochi. They have now opened a takeaway on Whitchurch Road, Fort Kochi. I am intrigued to try the takeaway, and see if it meets the same exceptional standards as the restaurant. Hi, we decided to have lunch here based on the reviews and the quality of the food was subpar overall. We ordered the Garlic Chicken Curry, Allepey Veg Curry and Chappathis. The Allepey Veg Curry didn't have the veggies properly cooked and so did the Chappathis. I did address this as feedback and were offered compensation and we appreciate it. In terms of the Porotta and the overall ambience was good.

Ordered delivery through Uber Eats. Food delivered quickly by the restaurant. Ordered two curries - both full of flavour and better value than other similar places locally. Good range of sides. Will definitely try and visit the restaurant to sit in next time.

This was the best Kerala food experience for me. The shop is clean and the staff is really professional. We loved the experience. The food was so full of flavour and they had a good variety. I highly recommend the meen polichchat.

Extremely slow, bad and rude service. Barely OK curry but requested mild dishes due to sensitivity to chilli's. Must have eaten a whole chilli hiding in the food and ruined the entire meal. staff were extremely unhelpful. did not want to pay but forced to by rude staff (only refunded curry). 3/4's of the meal left and could not finish due to overwhelming heat. Beer watered down. Very disappointing and bad experience. Do not recommend to anyone, just wanted to get out of there.... Like most Indian restaurants across Cardiff. Don't bother. Thanks for the reply below... Clearly the staff here are very rude and don't understand that the customer experience was completely ruined by the fault of the chefs and staff. 3/4s of all food was left and couldn't finish as I was completely put off by the experience . Didn't even finish the whole beer pint and bottle water. I asked you to bin the food and you didn't offer any solutions to our problems. Hated this place. The inmates are running the asylum. Ruined our whole evening. Go somewhere else.

Been here quite a few times never had a bad meal. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. 100% recommend.

Visited here before attending a gig at The Globe. Quick visit but the service was good, efficient and friendly. We had the mini poppadums to share which were nice, followed by starters - my wife had the prawns and I had paneer tikka and both were very tasty, well presented. Main course of Red King fish curry and Kochin chicken were both very tasty, arrived in good time and well presented. Don’t expect bog standard “British” Indian -it’s nicer and perhaps more authentic than that. All looked freshly made and tasted great v Prices were reasonable, would recommend.

It's a really good restaurant with superb food and excellent service. The staff are very friendly and helpful in finding what we want. They offer a variety of foods, and the cleanliness and ambiance are outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves authentic Kerala cuisine.

I ordered masala dosa great taste, beef roast ans and fish curry was great however the portion of rice is really small for even 1 person. Wish they could give better portion on it.

Brilliant Keralan curry house in the Cathays area of Cardiff. I had the Meen Pollichathu (fried fish in a masala sauce, wrapped in banana leaf) which was perfectly spiced and delicious! Staff were attentive and helpful, and the service was excellent. Pretty good value too, with a appetisers, main, and booze for around £25. Recommended.

Went there with my friend and simply loved the ambience, food, and decor. It's reflects parts of Kerala, and I think that's what the owner has tried to do it and succeeded it. Must try Mysore masala dosa and spicy dosa for people who love spicy food. Their chutney is so authentic and simply love it. I would recommend to book table in advance so that you are not disappointed if its busy. I would highly recommend it.

We arrived without booking on the hop and looked at the menu, it was limited and a lot of vegetarian options. I had the beef and asked for it to be spicy and it came well spiced with a thick rich sauce. There are no traditional options like madras or vindaloo so more authentic curry. The portions weren't large, especially the rice, the sauce that came with the biryani was in a tiny bowl. We were disappointed that on ordering being told there was no poppadoms, yet when the biryani came it had 4 mini poppadoms with it. Overall a tasty meal, but left wanting more. I'd not hurry back.

I have tried the Kerala food in UK first time and it was very authentic taste. The best part was that they didn't tone down the spices and it was perfect spicy for Indian pallets. I would highly recommend this restaurant

This is our second time at Little Kochi, we discovered it during a trip to Cardiff last year. It was as phenomenal the second time round - if not more! The Chefs Special from last time was divine so we asked if they had a chefs special this time and they said no, and when we said oh that’s sad, it was amazing when we visited last April - they asked what we had and said they could make it for us specially! Incredible!! The dishes we had were amazingly flavoured but the cherry on top was definitely the service and the fact that they were able to custom make the chefs special from A YEAR AGO just for us! Well done to the Little Kochi team, you have something special on your hands. Please open a branch in London!!

Excellent food served by friendly staff. Very reasonably priced and not your run the mill curry houses. It has a traditional and varied menu. We had an enjoyable evening there and will certainly visit again. Big thumbs up for the Kochi

Little kochi was such a fantastic experience! It's so nice to have such a great taste of Keralan cooking in our city. Albin was friendly and chatty, the food was absolutely delicious - the dosa, kallapam and appam (hoppers) were particularly good, and lots of choice for vegetarians. Service was really quick. Most of all, the decor inside was beautiful - it felt like we were transported to somewhere else entirely. We will definitely be returning customers, and even more keen to see if a takeaway spot will happen. Really good luck guys, you're doing a great thing!

I came with my friends for a girlie evening & the Little Kochi did not disappoint ! The staff were SO friendly especially Maya, she advised us on cocktails, food & was just so friendly ! The atmosphere was amazing & I love the decor of the place it has such a great feel to it & is quite different to other Indian restaurants I’ve been to! The food was such an interesting fusion & a perfect blend of spice & flavour! I’d definitely recommend getting a mixture of starters & mains to share as there’s SO much to try. The Dosa was a personal fav! We cannot wait to come again!

Very good food real kerala taste. We met the chef and he was also a nice person and made paal porotta as chef special. Which was amazing.

Had moulded pineapple in my juice , showed it to the staff , he tried defending stating that's how it comes. The food was tasteless and bland, the staff was rude and tired justifying that's how Indian cousine is made. Masala in the Dosa was like raw boiled patato, no taste whatso ever.Never the less we left most of our food untouched. We eat Indian food a lot and this is not at all authentic, just tasteless and over priced. I will continue visiting mattancherry or chai street for Kerala style food , this one will be avoided !

Great customer service and best indian food

We went there as a party of 8, including 3 who are originally from Kerala, South India, who recommended we try it. I'm a big fan of Indian food and this was far and above beyone anything I've had before. There were so many different, authentic dishes to try and all were simply astounding. Being a relatively big party we were able to order a number of things off the menu and have a taste of many things. For me, the highlight of the evening was the Masala Dosa, which was much bigger than I expected and was totally different to anything I've had before. If you like Indian food and want authentic South Indian dishes, giving the opportunity try new amazing dishes, Little Kochi is THE place to visit!

The food is fantastic - creative dishes, delicious breads and the dosas! We had a dosa about the size of a cricket bat - shared between three of us - and it was superb. Plenty of choice whether you are a vegetarian or a meat eater. The staff are friendly and attentive. The prices are really reasonable. All good!

Little gem alert: 😉 ‼️ Definitely worth a visit, food is great (but ask for a hot sauce or some chilli, if you like it hotter). Really simple lunch menu that caters for all tastes, even with fried egg 🥚 or avocado 🥑 or a club sandwich 🥪. All at a great price 💵✔️👍

We had a great time at the Little Kochi. The service was great, the staff were very friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. The food was amazing!! Gorgeous flavours, we had the butter paneer and the kingfish mango curry which were both delightful! It is reasonably priced, we spent £80 between 2 for a bottle of wine, starter, Main, rice, bread and a side.

AMAZING FOOD! Cannot recommend the food enough, we all really enjoyed our meals, the portion sizes were really good and such a lovely atmosphere inside with the decor looking like a little boat. Really recommend the Aubergine curry, it was vegan- there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options alongside meat and seafood. There truly is something for everyone.

Travelled all the way from Swansea for some authentic south Indian food. Little kochi was beyond our expectations and all the food we ordered was so good. We had tried many Indian restaurants in Birmingham, Manchester, London, Bristol etc. but Little Kochi stands atop. Trust me, these guys deserve applause. We missed Appam (Rice Hoppers) that day☹️ But we will come again. Highly recommended for south indian (Kerala) cuisine.

The food was excellent, and the service was brilliant as well. I’d never had South Indian food before- but I was very glad I had it here! The lamb shank in particular was superb- would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone near by.

Lovely alternative to a traditional curry, as Kerilan curry is fresher and quite different. Fish curry great, as was the kizhi portrait. Tapioca was a delicious surprise too.

Heard great things about this place - first impressions were great with lovely interior decor. Service was exceptionally slow; we waited over an hour for our food, which didn’t end up being served all together. Others enjoyed their meal when it arrived but my biryani was extremely bland. They offered us 20% off the bill without us having to ask which was kind, but I would not go back.

Best tasty restaurant in Cardiff. The management was very kind and helpful especially the owner Albin. He was very kind and provided good and tasty food. His hospitality was all good. I went to this restaurant with my wife and little one, picture below, we've lived in London many years and Birmingham this was a trip to Cardiff but this dinning experience was appalling, it's an absolute rip off dosa masala dosa £8 something sambar was not sambar it was dal served to us, Kerala chicken curry £15 worst we've tasted in a restaurant ever my wife makes way better curry than this. Adi parotta half cooked £3 so small just not worth it for this price parotta should be quite big or medium size bare minimum. Staff is not polite at all they are busy and rushing for families they feel they can get more. Money from. Never even asked us how's is the food sir or madam no hotel management etiquette all reviews are false, you get way better curry and masala dosa Kerala food restaurants in London and Birmingham. The owner what do they think when they put up those prices, disgusting experience food has no taste, flavour, blend food will never go here again ever, we left food on the table as well we don't like wastage especially with foods as food is everything but it wasn't edible bad experience prices are a ripoff of your hard earned money. I told them it's not about the money it's about an experience and service and food taste and quality but disappointing. This is not duine taste of Kochi or Kerala at all. I have been to Sochi, Kerala and entire of south India it's way better

Home delivery 17/12/23. Appalling food. No pride or care in what was sent out. If I'd been served that in the restaurant I'd have sent it back and refused to pay. Ripped off.

Really disappointing. Have eaten in restaurant before and really enjoyed the food. Also had takeaway once before and it was delicious. Ordered through deliveroo 17/12/24 and was extremely disappointed in the food. All dishes seemed watered down. Sauces were thin and tasteless. As a takeaway on the more expensive side, felt very short changed! No way of complaining on Deliveroo. I'll be going elsewhere next time.

The interior was good but it was too cold. the ac was giving cold air. The food was average, considering they’re supposed to be authentic south indian. The sambar was really bad, it was bland.

You can pre-book a table online for this lovely roath-based Indian eatery. Lovely wood and rattan decor invites you in before indulging in a relatively small but very interesting menu. The service and connectivity between the kitchen and front of house wasn't top notch when we visited, but we had a relaxing and lovely night nonetheless. Wd recommend.

This was my first visit to Little Kochi and it definitely won't be my last :) The restaurant has lovely interior and a great atmosphere and the staff were friendly. The food was delicious and great portions for great prices! Would highly recommend.

This was my first visit to Little Kochi and I have to say I'd recommend it. There's a lovely atmosphere inside which I think is down to the decor, lighting and music. I visited lunchtime and the Restaurant wasn't to busy. I was given the lunch menu only. I fancied a Plain Dosa so I didn't ask to see if the main menu was available. I also ordered a pint of Cobra. At £6.50 this is probably the average price you'll pay at this type of Restaurant. The Dosa arrived looking very impressive. It was accompanied by 2 chutneys and a small sambar. All very tasty. The Dosa was only £6.50. Very reasonable. I'll definitely be back.

I’ve been twice to this restaurant so far, having a great time both times but I went this Saturday for my birthday meal with my family and we were discussing how limited the lunchtime menu felt and the staff came over and offered the dinner menu, completely rescuing us from having to move somewhere. The food is also fantastic but I wanted to thank them for being flexible with the menu choices which they absolutely did not have to do.
