55 mins to get food , which was almost double the price you get the same elsewhere and it wasn't even busy. Would not recommend.

Far too many kids, it really did feel like we were trying to eat at a child’s 6th birthday party. Giddy dogs are not what anyone wants near their food. Sullen looking staff, slow service and far too expensive for the entire experience. It was all ever so terribly jarring, the place feels chaotic.

Very slow service, and the place itself is rather mismashed. The layout doesn’t feel like a cafe it’s just so odd and the food was actually awful. Very disappointing plus the prices are a joke considering the miserable faces of the staff and poor quality service. Wouldn’t ever go back, really not for us.

A friendly cafe with a real community feel. The coffee was excellent, we enjoyed a generous portion of the delicious Guinness cake and took a muffin away for a picnic later. The cafe was bigger than we realised with a variety of spaces so you could find a quiet corner or comfy sofa, and there were books and games for families. They catered for vegan and gluten free diets.

I visited Little Fika when my son was just a few weeks old. I was a stressed new mum who had been walking him around Whaley Bridge in his pram for hours to try to get him to sleep so that I could eat something. When he finally fell asleep, I arrived at Little Fika and the kitchen had closed. I think I must have looked tired and hungry, because the really kind people there offered to make me a sandwich which as very sweet of them. I had a great sandwich and coffee, but what really shone through was how lovely the people who run Little Fika were. I also used the baby changing facilities which were great, and I noticed a little play area for kids. So I’d 100% recommend Little Fika to anyone looking for a family friendly place for lunch in Whaley.

We called in with our dog having walked along the canal from Bugsworth Basin. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, explained the menu and specials. The coffee was great. The menu had lots of variety and veggie and vegan choices. We enjoyed the Welsh Rarebit. Reasonable price for yummy fresh food, served quickly with a smile. We’ll call again when we walk the canal.

The food was nice enough and it was great that we could take our dog in. However this place is super child friendly, and as a result it feels like sitting in a creche. If I had young children I would go back. As I don't, I will avoid it in future.

Great idea for a cafe but very slow service. We went for drinks with our grandchildren. We sat down and no one brought us a menu so I had to hunt behind the counter for one. Had to ask to place our order then two groups who came in after us got served before us. It was very poor service. We were going to go back later in the day but couldn’t face another 35 min wait with two small children. Top tip to staff…greet people as they come in and serve people in the order they arrive. 🤷♀️

We popped in for lunch recently and, after reading all the great reviews on here, I was a bit surprised. When we arrived the cafe had one table in use but we stood for quite some time waiting for the girl on the counter to acknowledge us so we could sit down. She seemed almost inconvenienced by us coming in and disrupting her, maybe she was on a break? The food itself was yummy, the Peak District rarebit is really good and the chutney with it was a great addition. It’s also a great location - right at the end of the canal so perfect post walk. I also had a pot of tea and it was really strong which was perfect. We didn’t try the cakes but I’d like to come back and see what they’re like. Hopefully next time we’ll experience the friendly service Little Fika is famed for.

Called in the Little Fika last week to meet my old mate who lives in WB. I ordered Mushroom soup and was given Mushrooms on toast - easy mistake to make, although it wasn't actually on the menu so I couldn't have ordered it! I agreed to keep the dish as served, although the lady insisted that it was my fault somehow, and insisted on showing me the receipt as typed into the system (not by me). Anyway, it was very nice, so fair play - but I was then charged £6.00, rather than the £4.50, the cost of the soup. Felt a bit hard done by to be honest - paid more than I wanted to for a meal I didn't really want.

Ordered a coffee, waited 15 minutes then went to cancel my order as I had an appointment and was offered my coffee in a take-away mug. Used my own (with no discount) and left. Leaving 2 young teenagers to run the place on a busy Saturday is not condusive to fast service. I was not told there would be a delay in getting my coffee. There were still 3 orders to process and no onehad arrived after me. It's a shame as it culd be a lovely cafe.

I popped in for a couple of drinks whilst in the area. In the past we'd head to up the road but decided to give here a go. Before heading in I jumped on here to garner opinions (millennial, etc). I got the gist that it was child friendly and that wasn't to everyone's taste - fine by me as I was after some coffees to go.The vibe of the place is nice but not something to particularly dwell on and take in. I think it's great how welcome children and pets are - especially given its location. That said, I didn't sit in so take my comments lightly. The drinks themselves were alright. The young lady seemingly assigned the order was pleasant, as was the woman who took the order. The exact order was somewhat lost when a third lady entered the fray but swiftly remedied insofar as possible (shortage of milk is understandable on a Sunday). I was told it was hot but nothing to criticise to any real extent. This is perhaps a disproportionately long review for a couple of drinks so I'll wrap up. All in all, a good place to nip in but not somewhere I'll be yearning to head back to.

I have been a few times to Little Fika. It's a really friendly, relaxed vibe with delicious food and the best coffee locally. My kids love playing in the toy kitchen and my dog always gets treated to a biscuit or two. It'd become our go to place for lunch/brunch at the weekends.

As a resident of Whaley Bridge I am keen to support local business. The cafe has recently moved into the old post office building. Popped in for a coffee and bite to eat. It's full of little ones which is great but this is like sitting in the middle of pre-school. The young ladies serving were not particularly "on the ball" to say the least. Busy chatting instead of looking after the customers. The food looked like it had been thrown on the serving board and the bread wasnt fresh. The coffee however, when it did finally arrive was great. Sadly I will not be visiting again.

A real shame as apparently this place used to be very good, but everything felt rather lacklustre and inconsistent on our visit. Despite having several servers for only a relatively small cafe, they all seemed both rushed off their feet and not really be doing much. Tables took a long time to be cleaned after we arrived, food was incredibly slow, and service was generally disorganised. After ordering, a while later they came back to say they had actually run out of one of the dishes, which was only at 1.30pm and yet it took another hour for our food to actually arrive. When it did, part of it was missing and despite asking several times about the sausages that we’d ordered to go with the rarebits, they didn’t appear until long after we’d finished eating. When they did, only one of them was brought, and it was then accidentally thrown onto the table by the waitress so needed replacing anyway. When they both finally arrived, only one side of mine was hot as if it had been microwaved. Eventually they realised how poor the service was and offered a free hot drink at the end of the meal, but to be honest it was a little too late by then. Definitely a shame, as the portion for the smoked salmon was massive for the price and the rarebit was quite nice; and while any of the mistakes on their own wouldn’t have been too bad it all contributed to one big mess that I wouldn’t want to return to.

They didn't have the main course I wanted. Ordered soup with bread and then toasted sandwich. The seeded bread was toasted as hard as a rock. I much preferred the food and the menu when this cafe was the pear tree. This visit was a while ago and I will give it another try. My companion wasn't very impressed either. But the service was very good but food a let down.

A quirky, Scandi style cafe hidden off the main thoroughfare at one end of Whaley Bridge (nearly canal side). Missed it twice and had to call for directions! An upstairs minimally decorated and clean venue which is entirely unsuitable for anyone with a pram, the elderly and disabled. Yet its theme is family inclusive with a lively kiddy corner (novel idea which makes perfect sense), a relaxed sofa area on the wide landing and the cafe main on the opposite side. Plus a ridiculously cramped unisex toilet that serves as a changing room over the loo ... ooer, don't drop the baby! Once made it up the steps there is a friendly vibe from the staff who make you feel at ease, you aren't rushed. It offers a simple, limited menu, nothing unusual to tempt the taste buds but you can find something wholesome and of generous proportions. The loveliest surprise was the price, circa £15 for 2 brunches - smashed avocado and 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of toasted sour dough with side salads plus 2 hot drinks. Quite amazing. If you get to Whaley Bridge give it a try!

Didn’t realise this place had changed from Pear Tree Cafe but it’s just as nice. Fantastic for young children who like to pick at food as they have a Little Fika tapas style menu. The little kitchen play area is a fab idea so parents can get a minutes peace too! Only criticism would be that the menu is very small, would be nice to see some more choices. The tea serving is pretty small too, a pot would be nice. Will return though & have recommended to others.

I visited this cafe today with my two daughters 4 & 17 and you know what? I loved it...and so did they. Firstly to staff are lovely and all had smiles on their faces which is a massive plus. It's very layed back and the coffee was to die for, so I had two haha. My girls had hot chocolate and the staff were very happy to make a child sized one for my littlest. My youngest love playing in the kids area with the kitchen and all the food and prepared a full (wooden) meal for us while her chocolate went cold. The other customers were relaxed and interacted with her as she tried to serve them too . It was a beautiful day outside and a quaint location and not far from my house too so I will be back. The prices are reasonable and it was a great experience and I would totally recommend. We didnt eat but I will next time, thanks for the hospitality and sorry about the messy kids kitchen, but she did have fun haha

I took my two little boys along to Little Fika after hearing about the “children’s tapas” and play area. The boys loved looking at the pictures on their menu and picking their own tapas/picnic lunch. The play area is a great idea! We have been regular visitors to Hargreaves prior to Covid, it's our favourite eatery in Buxton and always look forward to our visit. We visited yesterday and what a disappointment. What was once an " Edwardian " tea room , now looks more like a works canteen. My favourite colour is green, but the plain painted walls in a drab olive colour just doesn't work especially with no prints to break it up. Tableclothes seem to have disappeared and the lighting looks awful. Oh and they have fallen into the trap of PC "Unisex" loos. Having said all that, the food was very good and the staff/service efficient and friendly. Sorry, these, I know, are difficult times and it is all a matter of personal taste, just not to ours. I wish them well but we will now have to seek out pasture new.
