Lisa & Pann's Kitchen in Birmingham

El fin de semana pasado tuvimos una estancia de amigos, así que vine a reservar una mesa y Lisa explicó que era Año Nuevo chino y tenían un menú especial para toda la semana. Habíamos visitado 3 veces antes y nos encantaron los ingredientes frescos y la bienvenida amable de Lisa & Pann. Nuestros entrantes favoritos son los rollitos de primavera y el Karipap Pusing, pero para la red eléctrica mi hijo y mi marido siempre eligen su especial de fin de semana, pero mi favorito es el arroz frito con carne de cangrejo. Sin embargo no podía creer mi suerte ya que sería una comida realmente especial. Bueno, ciertamente no decepcionó. Había 5 entrantes pequeños y 5 platos principales para compartir más arroz. Todos nos encantó todo y fue un comienzo increíble para su fin de semana en Moseley. Sin duda voy a reservar en la mesa en el Año Nuevo Chino en 2026. Mientras tanto le he prometido a Pam que seré más aventurera y empezaré a probar un plato nuevo cada vez que visitemos.

Estábamos celebrando el Año Nuevo Chino. He estado aquí tantas veces celebrando cumpleaños, aniversarios y almuerzos y cenas con amigos y familiares. Cada comida ha sido un éxito. La bienvenida que recibes es maravillosa; Lisa es una anfitriona acogedora y sonriente y el personal es muy servicial e ir más allá de la milla extra para hacer su viaje muy inolvidable. Ahora vamos al menú. La comida es fresca y bien cocinada y muy sabrosa. He probado la mayoría de los platos y honestamente no puedo decir cuál es el mejor. Así que diré que todos son encantadores. Pero la mejor comida es el menú chino de 5 estrellas con 5 entrantes, 5 principales y 2 postres todo por £ 88. 88 para 4 personas. Había mucha comida, cantidades enormes y el sabor era celestial. No venden alcohol, sino tés, cafés y bebidas frías. Mi favorito es el calamansi; una fusión de bebida caliente o fría con limas en miniatura, ciruelas secas con un toque de sal. Estoy en el cielo con esta gran bebida. Mi hija que viene de Nottingham todos los viernes siempre tiene uno en el restaurante y toma uno para su viaje de regreso a Nottingham. El lugar está lleno de bonitas piezas de Malasia y Tailandia. Preciosos manteles, vajilla y otros equipos que es hermoso. Ahora el cocinero Pann. Es muy interesante hablar con ella. Aunque una cocinera muy ocupada que se apresura a salir de sus pies, siempre se toma el tiempo de venir a saludar y hablar de diferentes países y lugares en los que ha trabajado. Si yo y todas las personas que han comido allí votaran por este restaurante, le daríamos a Lisa & Pann un 3 estrellas Michelin por la amabilidad, la comida y todo lo demás. He ido a varios restaurantes Mich* pero esto les pega las manos. Sigue así Lisa y Pann y buena suerte en el futuro.

Tenía la intención de probar aquí por un tiempo después de escuchar críticas muy favorables. Por suerte un amigo con mejor memoria que el mío me lo recordó, sugiriendo que lo intentáramos. Éramos una mesa de 5 en un frío sábado por la noche, nos dieron una cálida bienvenida, tanto literalmente como de las sonrisas de las damas amables como nos mostraron a nuestra mesa. La decoración es auténticamente malaya con manteles batik y pequeños toques que me recuerdan a maravillosos viajes que hemos hecho en esa parte del mundo. El menú tiene suficiente para asegurar que todos puedan encontrar algo para probar, y hay especiales para elegir, así como postres bellamente presentados que te tientan a través de la nevera de vidrio. Casi no hace falta decir que la comida era maravillosa, fresca y realmente sabrosa de un menú que obviamente está preparado con pasión y orgullo por mostrar a nuestro vecindario lo deliciosos que son los sabores de Malasia y el Sureste. Región asiática puede ser. No hay licencia de alcohol, pero puede que BYO prefiera beber y pagar una tarifa por descorche (hay una ventanilla única al otro lado de la calle). Ya hemos reservado de nuevo y estoy deseando que Lisa y Pann se conviertan en uno de nuestros refugios regulares del barrio!

Un sabor genuino de Malasia - este lugar es brillante. 3 de nosotros fuimos y comimos clásicos de pollo satay, hojaldres de curry, pollo curry, char kwey teow (un plato de fideos estilo Penang fragante) y Nasi Goreng (arroz frito). Vaya, nos recordó a estar de vuelta en KL. El lugar es muy acogedor y el propietario y el personal muy amable (dandonos una mandarina de año nuevo chino cada uno a la salida) . No veo la hora de volver. ¡Voy a probar todos los platos del menú durante 2025!

Gran auténtica comida malaya, ambiente encantador, una verdadera joya de un restaurante, muy recomendable con un menú siempre cambiante de entrantes, platos principales y postres.

Coming from a part Malaysian background it has been good to find a restaurant nearby which serves authentic Malaysian food.

Fantastic good. Great customer service. Definitely my go-to for good Malaysian food! Lisa and Pann are the best at what they do. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Firstly, we could have happily eaten everything on the menu and there’s plenty left we really want to try. This local restaurant is immaculately clean, bright and airy, and has a menu that’s easy to understand, and covers some really popular dishes. We ordered curry puffs, chicken wings (dipping sauce was really fantastic), karaage, wonton soup (crystal clear broth and delightful slurpy wonton), Tom tum rice with chicken&prawn, green veg and a bone in chicken curry & rice. Nothing was heavy or greasy, everything was fresh and delicious. It’s so lovely to have food like this available outside the city centre. They also do a lunch special for £15 which is is definitely worth checking out.

Went for our first visit on a Saturday evening and so pleased we were brave and tried something a bit different. The food is excellent and wonderfully presented. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere was just right. The crispy puffs are a tasty starter and the curry with my Nasi Lemak, was to die for.

Once again (our third trip), excellent food in conducive surroundings. Lisa and Pann is a recent gem in the locality providing a menu of selected dishes influenced by cuisine across South East Asia from Malaysia to Japan. Delicious food is served quickly and is well presented. Portions are generous though not daunting. Lisa is an ever-friendly host. We have been there both for a meal with friends and this week as a couple for a Friday treat. Both were pretty much perfect!

This fabulous restaurant just moments away from the hustle and bustle of Moseley Village on Billesley Lane is nothing less than fabulous. Lovely atmosphere, pleasant lounge music in the background, and excellent service from start to finish by friendly staff. We have just returned from the private dining experience where the food was sublime, the mix of flavours and textures made this a truly wonderful gastromic experience. Many thanks Lisa and Pann. Freshly prepared food which tastes like home. We had two starters. The vegetable fritters came with a spiced peanut dip and a sweet chillie sauce. We also had the curry puff. For mains we had a deconstructed nasi lemak which allowed the individual ingredients to be cooked to their best. I had the ayam curry... One of the better ones I've had. We shared the pandam cheesecake which was topped with freshly roasted coconut and caramel sauce. Good, crisp flavours and the best of it was that nothing was super sweet or super salty. We will visit it again and I would have no issues taking my Malay parents here. They wouldn't even complain much!

Went out for a birthday meal this evening on the recommendation of a friend. Very disappointed. No one took any notice when we came in, I had to wait at the bar for a while to ask where our booked table was. When seated we had to go find our own menus. When server arrived, we were told it would be easier for her if we ordered online. I refused as this was a birthday meal and we could have had takeout by ordering online! We couldn't order drinks at the table but had to wait at the bar. When the food arrived, the noodle dishes were very spicy and the teriyaki chicken which I had was obviously sauce from a bottle chucked over bits of chicken and onion. I could have whipped it up myself in 10 minutes. Hardly the authentic cuisine we were expecting. We paid up and left quickly. Not impressed with either the food or the service.

Lisa and Pann were so accommodating in catering for a family event. The food was fantastic and authentic!! I cannot thank them enough for helping me with the delivery!

The food there is fresh and fab, waitress with blond hair is smiley and service is excellent. In love with the fried rice and sambal, very delicious! Will be back again, high rated guys.

Fabulous Penang hokkein mee that was very flavourful. You can tell the broth is richly cooked with prawns. Lisa and Pann were as usual both very friendly. Will definitely go back again!

Wonderful food, great variety of ingredients and an amazing green dipping sauce that was similar to a salsa verde. Chicken wings were crispy and the pork bun was fantastic too. Quick service too, we ate it all in 15mins!

I tried Lisa and Pann’s kitchen click & collect from the Pig & Tail, loved the food and really friendly staff! The portion was really generous and really tasty! I’ll definitely be ordering again

As a Malaysian I can say the South East Asian food is genuinely authentic and satisfies my cravings. I have visited them from their cafe days to their current set up in Pig and Tail and the food remains just as good and generous. I am counting down the days I can eat in with a pint of the tavern's best.

I knew Lisa a Pann´s Kitchen from when they were in Caroline Street and since they moved to the Pig and Tails I had not gone yet. I went again yesterday and I can say I will go many more times, the food is amazing, the portions are quite big (which is always a bonus) and the people there are very nice and friendly! So, it is a place you must visit when you are around the Jewellery Quarter.

Gone forever from the old venue but hopefully a new Lisa And Panns will emerge somewhere in the Jewellery Quarter. Happy memories of brilliant food. Good luck.

Went for a late lunch at this cafe. What a warm welcome. Took Lisa's advice and had a sambal curry and a kampung fried rice. Both were authentic, tasty and plentiful. The open kitchen is a bonus, the anticipation of smelling and seeing your food...

We had such an amazing time last week that we went again today. Food was delicious and owners really friendly. Very tiny place but you feel at home, watching them cook. The kitchen is also very clean. Already looking forward to my next chicken katsu!...

I normally opt for either Katsu curry meal or a noodle dish (chow mein or Mamak being my 2 faves), but I fancied something different. They were preparing someone else's meal and I asked what it was and I was told it was 'Nasi Lamak'...

Absolutely love coming here. Every thing is cooked fresh and is delicious. From a full English breakfast in the morning to an authentic Chinese come lunch time. Lisa and Pann are both lovely and alway happy please. 😋

Lovely light lunches to more fulfilling noodles or rice dishes you won’t struggle to find something delicious from one of he smallest, friendliest kitchens in Birmingham. Haven’t been to their Sushi nights, but all good things...!

Whatever I try it's spot on. From breakfasts to Katsu to lunchtime specials altered to my taste. Highly recommended and worth seeking out. Note closes Saturday but opens Sunday.

What a great find...a really wonderful place to eat. Authentic Asian dishes and great service. I'm working my way through the menu and change my new favourite every day. Great takeaway service with advance orders by text or Whatsapp etc. A best kept secret place....

Too early for lunch so tried the traditional cafe route of an egg and bacon sandwich. Really nicely done, as many cafes can't do such a staple that well, no problems here.

Another cracking lunch, katsu curry is cracking but everything you can smell being cooked is tempting. Recommended.

As usual with places local to me, I let them settle down before going in. Great place and lovely first meal served by friendly and welcoming owners. Great value and I will be back.......probably many times!
