Itaewon Korean Restaurant in Birmingham

Once again, a fabulous meal before going to the theatre. The generosity, the welcome, the service and the delicious food, make for a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for your kindness.

The food is brilliant and the prices are reasonable. Cost me less than £33 for two. The tteokbokki, rice cakes with kimchi and fish cakes, is a must-try dish. It is a bit spicy and the rice cakes are chewy. The bibimbap is recommended as well. Add the sweet chill sauce and stir, then you will clear the dish with a thumb up. Visited on weekdays without reservation but not sure about weekends.

Food was delish my fave was Korean sweet chilli chicken strips (MUST TRY) Thank you to your team!

The portion sizes have become smaller than before, and the taste is just average. It’s not worth the price.

I had a lovely time at Itaewon. They have a lovely menu and the food is authentic and fresh. I was pleased to see a halal menu.

This is place is great, i recommend u get the corn dog. It's really cheesy and if u have the garlic honey sauce it's literally perfect. They play kpop songs, the design is rlly nice. 5/5

Good food, well priced and very filling. Staff were very friendly and accommodating although they did forget a couple of drinks.

Food wasn't good and way more expensive than it should be. We had 2 portions of chicken wings, £9 a portion, thick coating of batter that was tasteless and fell off easily. We also had glass noodles with prawns, prawns were over cooked and rubbery, dish flavour was poor. I usually only leave positive reviews, but I was really looking forward to trying this korean restaurant in the heart of town and we were disappointed, if I read this comment I would have tried somewhere else.

Ordered tteokbokki with cheese and ramen which was actually top tier and then hot pot which was like £45 in total and was enough to satisfy 4 people the atmosphere was nice aswell as the staff and mocktail. They also provided halal menus which was very helpful

This hidden gem never disappoints. I've been there 3 times already and I can assure that the food is divine, the staff is really friendly and the service is really quick.😄

Quick service, but I’ve had my fair share of Korean food and this was just disappointing. Chicken bulgogi had that reheated chicken smell with no seasoning, tteokbokki was bland - tasted like tomato sauce and kimchi. Bibimbap had cucumbers underneath all the rice getting soggy and warm at the bottom, and the mushrooms in it left an unpleasant aftertaste. The only saving grace was the beef bulgogi which was decently seasoned. We were very hungry travellers, so ate what we paid for, but not planning to come back again or spread the recommendations.

For the people who gave 5 starts , is it because they haven’t been to a real Korea restaurant? I am very disappointed, I ordered a kimbab , it was cold and the rice was really hard, I just leave it on the table. Beef Short rip soup, tastes like water , we just leave it after a few sip. Deep fried squid is overcooks , the only thing we finished was the bibimbap , at lease is hot and eatable. The waiter noticed we didn’t touch the foods at all, but I think they don’t care ? We stayed 30 mins and left. Need to go somewhere else to eat. Omg , very disappointed, 4.5 stars , really ?

Good place to eat, they have a seperate halal menu which is very good. Portions can be quite small but otherwise good overall. Would recommend 👍

Freezing cold. Food was decent enough, but nothing special. Really weird atmosphere. Though, others seemed to really enjoy their food.

The food here is incredible It arrived really fast and was exquisite in taste Our waiter was very professional and came over to make sure our food was perfect which it was I didn't catch his name but we came at around 2000 on the 23rd of September

The beef bibimbap is delicious and the fried chicken is as delicious as the ones you eat in Korea.

The spicy pork dolsot bibimbap and squid takoyaki is great. Service is really friendly. Just be aware that you need to book in advance.

The food was excellent and the portions are good for a table of two. The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming, would definitely go back to this restaurant.

Noodles were undercooked, could not chew them at all and ended up eating only a quarter. The beef stir fry was nice, but i had asked for it less spicy and for my noodles to be more spicy and they mixed that up. service was good and quick and staff were nice. BUT as we finished eating we saw a mouse at the back of the restaurant and the staff hurriedly closing the kitchen door to not let it in, so the cleanliness is presumably not very good.

Ambience: 5/5 Foods: 5/5 My second time here, never feel disappointing. I came here with my friend, and we always enjoy our time here. This time, we order kimchi fried rice with short ribs and mine, galbitang. Both were so good but my favourite is the galbitang 🥰 The broth, meat, and everything 👍🏻 It will be nice if the galbitang stay in the menu, it will be so good for the winter season 😊

I loved that atmosphere and the customer service I have received I was extremely satisfied with. Especially with the workers, Lily and Lee, they served me and made the experience incredible.

Good portions and flavour, went on a Saturday afternoon and not intimidating busy. Service was quick and good and very cheery, lots of good food choices, Highly recommend the bbudae jjigae hot pot.

My go to korean restaurant. Amazing food and staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend!!! They are very accommodating to different dietary requirements, i I eat halal and they have a full halal menu with very good options.

Chickens were dry and used cheap batter. The sauce was on the side, rather than being marinated onto the chicken. Overall, the food is below average, not as good as many other korean restaurants that charge at similar prices. Service is ok.

First of all, the kimchi was so good. Maybe the best kimchi around the town. The tokpoki ramen was acceptable. But the Jajangmyeon was below a standard. Kimchi helped me to finish it though.

Very stingy with the meat in the hot pot. Literally filled it up with courgette and mushrooms, when the menu advertised Menu advertised the hotpot would have Sausages, meats etc they gave like 2 pieces of meat, no kidding. Absolutely horrible food, staff are okay the lad specifically was nice but the female staff gave dirty looks maybe because she was tired so I don’t want to judge but the food was my final straw AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE FLAVOURLESS. Hotpot did not contain in our mushrooms did not come with meat hardly any meat. They filled it up with courgette and mushrooms and it is overly expensive like you could easily spend £70 for one or two people but not even quality food never again

I am so disappointed with the service i was treated with, it is one thing to give less food but to treat your customers with such disrespect is astronomical. I dined here with 2 of my friends and the bill was around £90 mind you there’s only 3 of us and we chose their standard hotpot that said it would come with enoki mushrooms, sausages and other meats and they filled the pot with just onions and packet noodles. It is heart wrenching to say this but I have come to the conclusion that I was treated with disrespect because of my race. Noticing people around me, people who were east-Asian were getting good service, quick food and being treated like how every customer wishes to be treated but we were the only ones that were getting slow service, intimidating faces and falsely-advertised food. Please reconsider choosing this place. Please look at the image below to see what I got for £90. No meats no sausage no enoki mushroom, just disappointment.

It been long since I last eat a Korean dish but it was very delicious and the meal was too much so i had to eat it for 3days in a roll. I really enjoyed it.

The food and service was exceptional. My family of four popped in for lunch during a shopping trip at Birmingham's Bullring. The restaurant is located just a short walk away from the main shops and is easy to find. We were all greeted by a lovely waitress and she confirmed that the food was all halal. She also helped us decide what to order as it was our first time at a Korean restaurant. The food was served relatively quickly and presented well. The food we ordered were of decent portions and tasted great. The only negatives were: 1) the noise from the busy road outside; 2) no air conditioning. Despite this we will be going back again!

Took my daughter there for her 13th birthday. Asked for the cake to be kept behind the counter with the candles. When they brought it out they had lost the 3 candle and just left the cake on the table. I did not expect a song and dance but a little bit of effort would have been appreciated. Food was okay.

Had a wonderful time and the meal excellent.

5 stars for Allie. She was great and really made my first experience here remarkable despite it only being her second day. Thankyou Allie for going above and beyond and helping us get just the right things from the menu.

Amazing food, mouth watering, even the smell of the food and the music will take you to another world. Strongly recommend. Don’t forget to enjoy the dessert

I ordered the Haemul sundubu-jjigae. It was very tasty. However, the egg was missing in my dish and the soup wasn’t spicy. I can’t fault the service. I was attended to by Lesley and Alina. They were really welcoming and kind. I would have scored it an 6 but Lesley offered an 10% discount for my missing egg. That was so nice(thank you) Overall it’s a 8/10. Thank you.

tteobokki tasted like packaging foam. The table next to us had a fatal accident where a kid fell off his chair and broke his arm. The handling of the situation was poor as the staff were pointing and laughing at the kid. No refund for the Tteobokki btw.

If you dont like chewing gum in your food then dont buy Tteok-bokki. No refund either. Ordered takeaway , but portion size didnt satisfy my 4 year old cousin. The lady jumpscared my cousin and he fell off his chair and broke their arm. No medical fees paid.

Had an amazing meal here with my partner! The menu all sounded so delicious that it was hard to choose what to eat. We decided to share rhe hotpot, cheese corn dogs, beef bulgogi bibimbap, and kimchi pancake. All were so delicious and came out quickly and were lovely and hot! The Itaewon secret sauce on the corn dog was to die for!! The place was bustling but kept a lovely vibe and the staff were friendly and happy to help with recommendations. I'll definitely be back!!

First trip to Birmingham and I’ve had Itaewon on my itinerary for a while. I’m happy to say it was worth it! I had a pleasant experience and my meal (Japchae with Prawns) was delicious. Never had glass noodles, very yummy! Worth a taste! Thank you

I recently dined at Itaewon Birmingham and had an exceptional experience that I must share. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by the staff, setting the tone for an evening filled with delicious Korean cuisine. We started our meal with the kimchi pancakes, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully tangy and spicy on the inside. Each bite was a wonderful balance of flavors and textures, making it a great appetizer. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Korean BBQ bulgogi. Having had these dishes (jajangmyeon and Tteokbokki) in Korea, they really don’t compare. Whilst the portion was decent, the taste was bland and very minimal with ingredients (I had 2 tiny chunks of beef in the janangmyeon with the rest being potato and carrot). Very expensive for the quality and left disappointed.

Travelled from wales just for this place. Amazing food, everything we ate was delicious. However was slightly disappointed at the tteokbokki, only got 4 pieces of rice cake also added extra, ramen and cheese. So that was a let down. Even in the hot pot we have about 5 pieces of rice cake. Super let down. Otherwise amazing food. We will definitely be back again.

Had my lunch Itaewon Korean Restaurant and I really enjoyed!! Warm welcome at the door, sitted, and the menu had selection to choose from. I was not very keen with Tofu but overall what I have ordered was amazingly delicious. Definitely recommend

We had the hotpot. For £25 it seems a little bit overpriced. I enjoyed the classic Korean taste of the broth but I found the ingredients, mostly the packet ramen to be kind of too simple. We bought additional beef too for £7.50. This was quite tasty, it seemed like very decent quality meat. The hotpot experience was interesting but I was afraid of the hot bowl tipping over. It was difficult to adjust because it was completely metal with no rubber or plastic handles. I'm not too happy about the waitress who did not ask if we needed to know how to do things, was not too enthusiastic and didn't ask us if everything was ok.

We were in rush to catch the train back to London, this was one of the restaurants right outside the train station. Staff were very friendly and the food was SUPERB, much better than any Korean food I ever had in London Portion is big and the price is very reasonable Will definitely visit again if have the chance to

I highly recommend trying this place out! This is our second time coming and we love it, I got the tteobokki with cheese and my partner got the bulgagi with cheese corn dogs in garlic and honey sauce to share. Quick service and friendly staff. So filling and for a great price! (I apologise if I’ve butchered any spelling) 10/10

A gem of a place, great service, delicious food, brilliant atmosphere and cool music

The food was pretty good, albeit the beef ribs are a bit hard to slide off the bone. The service was a little appalling. We didn't feel as though we was treated the same as other customers, and this was for no immediate reason that we could perceive. It made us feel isolated, and brought down the mood of our dining experience.

I had booked a table for two for me and my friend as we wanted to go out and enjoy some good korean food, when we walked in we were welcomed and directed to where seatings are by a lovely man and the staff upstairs were as lovely and welcoming. They have a halal menu which I was really happy about. The place is affordable and has amazing food which we enjoyed a lot. So much flavour and just perfect honestly. I recommend the place and probably would make it my usual to go to restaurant for whenever I can☺️☺️

We ordered Ttokbboki and corn dogs via online so I can’t talk about other food. Ttokbboki was terrible. As I am Korean, I have never had this type of food in my life. I strongly recommend the chef and owner to work on the recipe and make proper food. Worried people think this is the real taste of Korea. Corn dog was ok to eat.

Really nice food, I had the spicy pork stir-fry which tasted really authentic. I have to admit that I had ordered the Korean fried boneless chicken chunks (don't be fooled by the picture in the menu, these are homemade)...I ADVISE YOU GET THEIR INHOUSE SPECIAL XO SAUCE. They gave me the white boy spicy level, still good tho! Proper good scran, only wish I could have tried more. Big portions sizes! Nice atmosphere, don't expect a red carpet or white linen cloth, expect banging good food instead. Drink the Milkis cream soda or the green grape bonbon

This is the 2nd time I am going here and as before really enjoyed the food. The service was super quick and having a late lunch we were very hungry and really appreciated the quickness of service. Everything was delicious e.g. Korean ramen, Egg fried rice etc. Special mention to the salt and pepper prawns which was heavenly.. 😀

Initially, I picked this place as I saw sooooo many foodies had been invited and the food looked really appetising in their reels. Korean food is up there in my top 5 so I was really excited to visit! The restaurant is fairly small inside and we struggled on a table for two to accommodate all our food - maybe we should’ve ordered less 🤣. We ended up having; Budae Jigae - I have been craving this since watching all the big Korean mukbangers eating this and it did not disappoint! It had all the flavours of Korean cooking that I am used to but I felt that the spice was mild. Kimchi pajeon - I LOVE a Korean pancake because they are super savoury, slightly spicy and crispy! Unfortunately, I felt the pancake here wasn’t as crispy as I like and was a bit bland for me. Korean fried chicken platter - We picked the Korean sweet chilli, Itaewon’s secret sauce and the fire buffalo sauce (I like it HOT) but I wasn’t keen on any of the flavours and didn’t find any of the sauces that spicy? I also expected the chicken to be tossed in sauce. The only upside is that the batter was crispy and you could tell it was served as soon as it left the fryer. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick (it was quite late) but the restaurant wasn’t very busy when I went. Overall, I have had better Korean food but would go back to try the japchae and bibimbap.

Your first impression will be it’s small restaurant. When you go upstairs it’s massive and nicely decorated. Really nice food and service.

Not authentic Korean food. It was like a Chinese take on it. The rice cake was extremely mushy and when I told the waitress she acted like it was normal. Rice was good though.

I went here for the first time in my life as I was craving a certain dish. But coming here killed my craving fully. The food was swimming in oil. And so underwhelming. Hugely lacking in flavour. And I said to the lady it's my first time coming here I want fishcakes and just cheese with my taebokki (sorry if i spelt that wrong) and she brought out a whole other dish with prawns and clams. And I have a big allergy to shell fish. And it smelt super bad. Not appetising at all. Save your pennies people go somewhere else. !! And so disgusting

The food was flavoursome, I would have liked more prawns in my prawn and noodle dish though. The chicken dumplings I had were my favourite. They serve the appetiser at the same time as the main so you don't get a gap to digest a little and then the main isn't hot by the time you get to eating it. Cocktail - "Blue" - was served in a martini glass - at £11 not really value for money. They provide complimentary water at the table which is good. The staff were polite and helpful. It wasn't as buzzing in there as I expected so the experience was a bit flat but I still had a pleasant enough time there.
