Food great. All the staff lovely and friendly. No idea what other reviewers complain about as they all go out of their way to be helpful. Never heard any of them complaining about our diverse orders.

I chose the "offer" - soup and a scone - while my wife had tea and a scone. The scones were fresh, the service propmpt and friendly and the environment clean and airy. Not too expensive for an occasional treat. Gardemn centre is noice too with a good range of plants.

My sister had booked for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. The venue was very accommodating as they knew we were attending with a baby and made sure we had a table with space for the pram. The afternoon tea had a wide range to choose from we got to choose our sandwich fillings, flavours of quiche and pie as well as 2 cakes each. The tea was also unlimited. The food was all homemade to a high standard and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We couldn’t finish all the food but the staff gave us boxes to take food away with us. Will definitely be back.

3 friends and I had afternoon tea. It was outstanding. All food freshly prepared from a huge choice. Sandwiches packed with filling, scones huge and delicious, cakes scrumptious and the Strawberry Tarts were to die for. Staff lovely, friendly and very helpful. We are ladies who live afternoon tea and we ho to a different venue every month from Matfen Hall to Langley Castle. This has been the best yet. Lots of food too, first time ever we have needed boxes to take some home. They could charge a lot more for the standard of the content. Thank you to all the staff from us all.

Disappointing yet again. We visited on Wednesday 6th dec. The service had improved very slightly from our last visit but our main disappointment was how cold the cafe was in fact it wasn’t cold it was freezing even the staff were wearing fleece coats. So much so it took only around 2 minutes for our hot coffee to get cold and the cheese scone was very cold as if it had been in the fridge even though it had been on the counter. Not a pleasurable experience!!!

Have been a few times now with my girlfriend and I have to say it’s one of our favourite spots for a coffee, bit of food and a browse round the shop. Food in the cafe is excellent and we’ve always had really pleasant interactions with the staff, who couldn’t be more helpful. We particularly like coming for breakfast as I love the stottie and my girlfriend likes the eggs benedict! All the food we’ve had is great value for money as well as it’s delicious! The shop itself has a great range for our home, both in and outdoor, and we will definitely be returning soon for a bit of garden furniture that we have our eye on. Same as the cafe, the staff were lovely and so helpful as they pointed us in the right direction for stuff we were after and even help carry a few bits to the car for us. We are definitely going to keep coming back here and advise anyone who hasn’t been to go too!!

We have been here lots of times and apart from the occasional dry scone have never had an issue until today…the heat must have got to the staff they were miserable and abrupt. We ordered at the counter with somebody who looked like they didn’t want to be there. When our hot drinks were brought over they were practically thrown at us by the lady saying the hot milk is in the jug!!! She abruptly turned and walked away. Our scones were then put at the other end of the table. We now had two trays which we had to get our items off. Ever since covid trays are placed on the table is it not now time you improved service by taking items off we saw some elderly people struggling. Staff training is drastically needed as today put us off. You also have too much competition locally to be giving bad service!!!

I don’t know a garden centre that doesn’t allow dogs in apart from this one. Their loss.. as they’ve lost a couple of hundred pounds from me that I was going to spend in store. Get with the times. We came here at lunch time for a look around and food at the cafe. The woman who was serving at the cafe had to worst attitude I have ever come across. She was rolling her eyes and sighing as we were ordering and shaking her head and huffing and puffing when were asking for hot drinks. I couldn't believe it so I asked what was wrong with her. She replied hastily that she was just confused with our order, obviously she realised how rude she was being. I was actually laughing with my partner in disbelief at her attitude. We decided not to order food and just have the hot drinks and leave. As we were leaving another member of staff asked me if the woman was rude to me and I said yes, she then said 'I could see you found it hysterical' as if she was angry at me laughing. I was actually laughing in shock and nervousness. It's safe to say will never come here again.

Whoever runs this restaurant either doesn't care, or is running it down for whatever reason. I would have thought with so many bad reviews, would have taken notice. We thought we would bring family here for a walk and a bite to eat before they went back home.Never again,oh my God,I felt so embarrassed. The building needs some serious tidying up, there is boxes dumped everywhere, garden furniture abandoned at the top of the restaurant and the section behind the plants needs some serious work.My 2 stars are for the quality of the plants even though they're expensive. We asked for a jacket potatoes at 12.45 to be told there were none left,we then decided on a baguette which were rubbery(probably yesterday's). They came with prepacked grated cheese and a lump of iceberg lettuce. What a let down!! The staff need a serious shake up, they never smile and have no customer skills. The restaurant could be a goldmine if it is run professionally and a proper decent chef was producing the food and not the women who have no interest in the job apart from when they receive their payslip. The manager walks around smiling at people but doesn't pay any interest in what the staff are doing. Give them all a good shake because at the moment its the locals that are keeping the place open.It could be a goldmine!! There is no atmosphere and I find I don't want to hang around too long.

Visited this cafe for a quick lunch as we had a busy afternoon planned and it was on our way. We hadn't been for a while, and as we waited in the queue we remembered why. It is the only cafe we have ever visited where the staff have their own lunch at lunch time leaving only one staff member to serve. Despite the fact that she was busy she was unflustered and helpful. We visited at about 1pm, but have visited at 12.30 and had the same experience. What adds insult to injury is the fact that the staff taking their lunch break are in the cafe so in full view of the customers. We both had toss toasties which were OK for the price and the coffee was nice, but we won't be back.

Plenty of plants/ shrubs etc to choose from as well as gardening equipment, clothing and accessories. There are lots of gift options to purchase. The cafe area is spacious with choice although some of the food options are a little more cost than expected. Staff make this centre a lovely place to visit, being very friendly and helpful. Local for us we will continue to be regular visitors.

I have only sampled dessert here and they come highly recommended. If you fancy a sweet treat this is your place to be. Plus friendly staff and a lovely real fire.

Nice stop off back from the metro centre. Quite pricey for what they sell in the shop. Reasonable price for coffee. Not a large selection of hot or cold drinks. Staff were pleasant enough , good location for wildlife. Table was a bit dirty.

Called for tea and coffee - and were tempted by a piece of coffee cake - it was fresh, delicious and not particularly expensive.

My friend goes for scampi and says its great. My jacket potato is always ok, but its pretty basic stuff with a side of a few shavings of iceberg and a tomato and cheese! Yes its a garden centre and there is plenty there for a basic tasty meal. I cannot agree about the staff there though, they are so slow and not exactly trained in customer service!

Its certainly not world-beating stuff but the food here is pretty decent. Its take a tray and grab/order what you want sort of idea. No kids meals when we came, but they did up a cheese toastie off the menu.

Called in to finish off some Xmas shopping in the Garden Centre & as it was around Lunch time thought that we would give Restaurant a try instead of cooking at home. All the food has that homely look with no boil in the bag Lasagne etc. Had the Homemade Steak & Mushroom Pie solely bought because of it's looks & was not disappointed. Serving Staff very helpful & cheerful, yes could not fault it & as good if not better than a lot of Pubs are serving up as "Lunch". Will definately be back. Forgot to mention, my wife enjoyed her meal as well.

What has happened to M&S cafes? Doing away with the saucers and little biscuits was bad enough, but now the service is so poor and often chaotic, food unappetising and the tea transparent. Once my go
