Lingdale Tavern in Redcar and Cleveland

We had heard nothing but bad reports about the tavern from friend and family that have been but thought we would check it out for our selves . All I can say is disgusting .everything we asked for off the menu we had to pick something else because they had ran out so two of us had fish and chips for main . As they own the fish and chip shop over the road which is very good I thought it would be a good choice. How wrong could you be the fish was so well done the batter was rock hard and the fish inside had shrivelled up to nothing . And the chips were burned . The other two in my party got the mixed grill that wasn’t much better. Over cooked and everything on the plate tasted of liver . Won’t be going again . Could be really nice because a lot has been spent on the place but they need a decent chef . Or employ a chef instead of bar staff doing the cooking .

Had a carvery last weekend and it was absolutely delicious. Lovely succulent meat, loads and loads of veg to choose from and gorgeous Yorkshire puddings. Only £6 each, it’s not worth putting your cooker on at home. Will be back tomorrow for another one 😁👍🏽

Had a lovely Carvery and bar meals at a good price.staff were good and clean toilets and pub. ......

Been in for lunchtime carvery very good. Also had evening meal. Parmo very good. Fish found rather dry.

Friendly service in a clean well cared for venue. Hot well cooked sunday lunchwith 3 meats and plenty of veg and all foronly £6.00

We often visit the tavern for tea, most of the staff are very friendly and accomodating, James is exceptionally lovely. Very good value for money for average food. Most of the time it can't be faulted, although on one visit one main had to be sent back as it was still cold in the middle and steaks were overcooked, but that did seem to be an off night as that was our only negative experience. However we will not be visiting again after last night, after enjoying parmos we squeezed in dessert and wished we hadn't, after my friend spotted a pea stuck to the bottom of my plate. At first we just laughed, until I picked the plate up and discovered a dead fly also on the bottom of the plate, and some orange gunk which looked like melted cheese? Unfortunately we had finished dessert by this point, but left with our stomachs turning, seriously questioning the level of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen. We were not asked how the meal was when paying, but felt it best not to kick up a fuss as there was still people eating in the dining room and we didn't want to put them off but we certainly won't be going back.

Last Saturday 40 Geordies descended unannounced in to the fine establishment. From near empty to just about full in minutes. What a fine place Great Beer, food pizzas & chips on. Service with a smile Thanks very much. Sorry we only had a few pints each there but we should be back next year as our stop off en-route to Whitby. Thanks again

Living only a couple of miles away we decided to walk the countryside route to lingdale taking in some breathtaking rural and seaside views enroute. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly helpful staff. We were very impressed by the new look tavern which is pleasing on the eye. The carvery is through in the end room and was found to be excellent. Lots of meat and a nice selection of veg. Only thing that would be an improvement is some sauces like horseradish and mustard for example.... They also offer a take away carvery for the same price. The price of £4 is excellent value for money. A really pleasant experience. Thanks we will recommend and return.

Me and my partner went to try the carvery which was very nice, we both enjoyed. A lovely selection and the meat was nice and tender. Only thing could possible change is the postion of the gravy. People were gwtting there veg then having to go back over people for gravy. We had deserts which we're lovely. Staff where very busy but welcomeing and helpful. Lovely pub with a seperate carvery area would recomend and cant go wrong for £4. Will be visiting again.

Our 2nd time for Sunday lunch , we never booked just popped in after going to a boot sale near by, this place was recommended from a friend so thort we would give it a whirl, As my job is a cook I like a day off from it . Well what can I say , first the plates are massive not like little side plates you get else where ,lots and lots of fresh vegetables to choose, real creamy mash potatoes, roasties , honey parsnips yum, massive tasty Yorkshire puds , stuffing was nice and crispy, all your sides ie apple sauce etc , fantastic homemade gravy !!! Not from a packet like most do these days ! And the meats were cooked to perfection. The service was good , very friendly and always ask if your meal is ok , clean tidy nice staff, lovely decor , nice clean toilets too ! Good for everyone in my eyes , just go and try don’t read the not so good reports, as there not true in my eyes and for £6 what do you want , if I go it must be nice , as I’m so funny about my food , 10 out of 10 tavern x

Called in to Lingdale tavern 630 this Sunday with my wife and family yes it was late but the carvery on offer was disgusting cold and sparse food tough meat over price drink won’t be back

It's been years since I've been to this place and couldn't believe the changes to the decor it looks fantastic and has been done out to a very high standard. We were welcomed by James who was extremely friendly and helpful. My dad opted for the carvery which looked really nice. I opted for the mixed grill which was great value and very tasty. The chips were home made and delicious. Everyone really enjoyed meals and some how managed to squeeze in a dessert. Again that was lovely, was a shame there wasn't more options though. James was rushing about and extremely busy and did everything he could for us. My negatives would be the bar staff seemed more interested in there mobile phones than actually working. Not very welcoming at all. I understand it's a pub as well, so I would think it would be better if you could order drinks/meals etc at the table. Having to go into bar to order while listening to bad language didn't go down well with my dad. It's not somewhere I would take kids because of this. Overall though the meal was faultless and thanks to James made our visit well worth it. We'll definately be back.

Didn’t have food so this comment is just about the room upstairs . Went to my nephews engagement party and for the amount of guests the room was just to small not enough seats and the way the tables were set up you couldn’t get in or out to get a drink without getting the whole row to stand up then same again when you wanted to be back in . The room was also freezing cold you had to keep your coat on all night.

first of all had long wait at bar to pay as barman on phone to friend so was ignored until he had finished his call when we got to the carvery no one there to carve the meat having waited quite a while had to find the kitchen door and get someone to come and carve the meat beef was under cooked gristly baked potatoes not cooked in the middle and cold yorkshire puddings no one about top complain to haseveryone just disappeared when we had been served will not go anymore

Great Carvery with nice surroundings. Good selection of vegetables too. Couldn’t believe it cost us £4 each for OAPs. Well worth the money.

You will be surprised at the quality of food and service at this sleepy little village pub. Recently refurbished, it is now tastefully decorated with a couple of different eating areas. We went for a family birthday and had the Sunday carvery, which was excellent. A good range of meats with a wide selection of delicious vegetables. And the pork crackling was to die for! It is excellent value for money and well worth a visit.

After hearing such good things we decided to give it a try but we were quite disappointed and I know people say 'but the values brilliant' but nowadays you can get a decent meal for £5/6 so it's on par price wise with most places in the area except it's lacking in quality..

The best value and tasting meals for miles around. Well worth a visit and whilst the phone signals are rubbish the food isnt! Carvery to die for..steak absolutely spot on..mixed grill...all day breakfast..all very bery nice.

Purchased two takeaway meals on Friday 30th June. Ready for collection after 20 minutes. Had Lasagne with chips & salad. Cost £6 each. Superb value. Will be getting another this week.

I dont normally write reviews for anything but an hour ago I just ate in the Lingdale Tavern and felt I had to say something! I'm a pretty good cook and hardly ever eat out, but at 2 pm I thought id go out for a quick lunch and let someone else make it. I ordered a half parmo for £5.................. yes £5! I can honestly say it was the tastiest and nicest parmo ive had in a long time from anywhere! It came with hand-cut proper chips and a dressed side salad. It was big enough to satisfy and fill a hungry-nosed 15 stone bloke like me! As I enjoyed it that much I thought............ credit must be given! As I was leaving the chef was just leaving too so I actually gave him a bit of praise to his face ! There are lots of different dishes on the menu all at a low price! I couldnt recommend the standard of what I had highly enough! Its a no-brainer.................... give it a try!!!

I have just visited this restaurant with a group of ten friends, the meals were brilliant, tasty, well presented, plentiful, in fact we could not fault them, nor could we believe the prices, such excellent value. The patron and staff were also great, they could not do enough for you.

Friends suggested we give it a try as they had been there and had a great set of meals.

had a super lunch last week, everything was piping hot and nicely presented, the staff are all very friendly, and really looked after us. children seem to well catered for, as the ones in were given crayons and paper for a colouring competition. there also was a good choice of child and vegetarian meals available. It is not the first time we have been, and won't be the last.

Called in tonight for the Wednesday cavery £5 , Choice of 3 meats and homemade yorkshire puddings nice selection of freash veg , Food was very nice place was little busy the bar staff were very polite & friendly , Well worth the money . Car park very small so had to park on the high st . Good place if on a budget ;-)

We knew that the Lingdale Tavern had been upgraded so we booked our Mothers day lunch with them. I believe there were two sittings, we went for the 12 o'clock one.

Me and my partner visited today for lunch both having the chicken parmos. Staff were very friendly and helpful as always. This was not our first visit we have ciaited with family and friends previously and just like other occasions staff, always welcoming from arriving to leaving, they assist where ever they can and alsways had service with a smile. We will be returning again and to anyone in the area i would reccomend a visit.

We went here yesterday (Feb 10th) and had a fantastic time, the building has been completely redone after standing empty for several years, it is now a thoroughly modern looking building inside and very welcoming. It is also surprisingly large! The food we had was excellent ans very reasonably priced, the staff could not have been more helpful and attentive. We will certainly be returning and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for private functions etc.
