Been the last 2 weeks what a nice pub great staff and great food we come from bishop auckland

Visited here for a quiet meal with my partner, Mother-in-law and our dog. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, reasonably priced food and drink - very happy.

Wonderful service today! Fantastic gluten free menu and the servers were so lovely and attentive. They all seemed so considerate, including the bar manager and our server Aaron who even brought me fresh cutlery to make sure if was 100% as free from cross gluten as possible. Above and beyond celebrity service. Rarely get service that nowadays. The decor is fresh and comfortable and there are two dining locations, as well as dog friendly! There's plenty of entertainment including a pool table and darts board! Parking is dead close but it is a bit congested due to the area, despite this there's a sun trap for outside seating and looks great for families with grass for play and toy's & colouring. It was very busy when we went but the service was still fast and polite and it's a good sign the food is great! Will definitely be going back to explore the rest of the menu.

Sunday lunch very disappointing to say the least. Sold out of Beef and Chicken when we arrived, nothing to suggest this when booking. Turkey option available was bland/tasteless. Desserts not much better. Would not recommend for Sunday lunch. Others say food is good, Maybe none Sunday lunch food is better, I'm not prepared to find out tbh.

Everything was great as well as portions, pizza could’ve been cooked a bit more but it wasn’t raw so it’s fine and it was nice. We also received the dessert before the main meal¿ Ye food is great.

I didn't have food, so i can't comment on that, but it's decent in the bar side watching the football and a game of pool

I've been here 3 times since November last year, every time I've wasted my food, this is all basic junk nothing special, you pay just under 15 quid for WHITE FISH, not cod 🤷‍♂️, the fish was wasted, the chips too, not the best frozen chips! Again embarrassing cheap tat, let's move to their burgers which I've tried under thier and new and old management..... Same junk sourced food cooked badly, half cooked in the middle and can just taste the burnt outside, the menu only has an hand full of items! The problem here I don't think is the staff but these corporate entities taking over every aspect of life and providing us with junk, the norman conquest has better junk if you want that kind of food.

First time coming to this pub/restaurant really enjoyed My time there playing pool and darts and the food was absolutely amazing spot on definitely recommend going there and we will definitely be attending again the staff there were really friendly and had lovely manners it was graham and Clare that was on tonight wonderful people

Highly recommend this place my first time back since it’s been refurbished, staff where so friendly from the start with a warm welcome, service was great from the get go and the mixed grill was top notch, I definitely will be back might make this a regular visit on a Wednesday on my only day off.

Came here on many occasions, always amazing staff, food and atmosphere but this Sunday was just diabolical. Food bland and cold, veg hard, staff messing about with each other so not interested in if you need sauce or gravy and the two room divide just does not work for me. Place feels cold and clinical. The blond lady working (Kim I think her name is) was just a pain in the backside. Didn’t bother to bring our gravy but constantly pestered all our table, 5 of us, to put a review on and her words “make sure it’s 5 stars” she was so annoying that we up and left! What a shame as this place was always our go too with family, not any more. Disappointed is a massive understatement

Used to love the Sandstone Nab, spacious, family/kid friendly everything was spot on. Since the renovation walked in sat down and walked out, service was poor, cramped, chav friendly … what a mess . Never to return , what a shame !

Visited on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and was blown away by the service from the full team …….. this is from the front of house through to management, nothing was too much trouble …. You have a happy customer who will recommend and continue to return

Kym was serving today I came from London with my friend she is very friendly and she ask as if you do online you get discount I said I love to Oder from you she ordered and delivered and came and ask how was the dessert so different from London pub

The first visit to our new local was a great experience. The place was busy with a great welcoming family atmosphere. We were greeted by Ellie and were seated straight away to a pre-booked table with our name on it (a lovely touch). Our meal was good quality and decent portion sizes. We stayed for a few more drinks and were looked after by very friendly bar staff. Looking forward to going again and again.

Had a fantastic experience at the pub – the atmosphere was great, and the service was even better. Parker was absolutely amazing! So professional, friendly, and just all-around fabulous. Came in today for the soft opening and was such a great welcome from the lovely Aaron so so welcoming . The food was absolutely fantastic and Kym and alex on the bar was so good offering us sides and extras with our food. Such a great change to the pub can’t wait to visit again

Visited today for the soft opening before it opens properly tomorrow. Very impressed with the makeover, lovely decorations, wallpaper and soft furnishings. Pool table added. Food was well presented and tasty with attentive servers(Graham for table 29). The manager Matthew will make this place a success with his good attitude and attention to detail. This is a great example of how good a chain pub can be with the right staff

Had a lovely Saturday evening at Sandstone Nab. We received a warm welcome from Kym who made a fuss of our pooch, offering treats and providing a bowl of water. The staff overall were pleasant and very helpful. Only negative; ordered ‘skin on’ chips which were in fact skinny chips and should be described as such. Although the menu is not a fault of the staff, they were very apologetic, therefore we will be happy to frequent again in future on the strength of the customer service extended to us.

At the very last minute we was struggling for a table for 10 and Kym was amazing and made it all happen for my sons 16th birthday. Even when staff was low Kym and Sophi made it all happen for my son thankyou so so much will definitely be changing my local food place to here A1 service

Upon arrival I went to the bar & asked the barman for a pint of John Smiths beer he replied sorry we have no beer, I said is this a pub with no beer he replied yes, so I settled for a lager, I then asked for fish & chips, he replied sorry we have no fish, so I settled for some crisps, so I don't think I will be recommending or returning to this place.

Today I was served by Kym, excellent service yet again, Kym always makes me and my children feel comfortable, always going above and beyond, thank you see you again soon

Visited this pub for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. Very nice atmosphere, it was quiet and relaxed and the staff were very friendly. Aaron was great to talk to and made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this pub.

Went here for a family members birthday meal. Started out ok and the staff just got more and more rude. We asked for a cake to be brought out so we could leave and even though the place was almost empty we were rudely told that we would have to wait as there were other people that needed to be seen to. The plates were left on the table until after we left. The staff were just rude overall and we won’t be coming back to eat here.

Very very friendly and great reception from Sophie, Kym and Aaron, only called in for a drink, so cannot review the food, but will be back to try it.

**Updated Visit 08.02.25** Food piping hot although the latte coffee was luke warm however, once I'd spoken with the manager these were swiftly refunded. Staff very polite, helpful and attentive. Cozy, warm atmosphere, nice clean place. ********************************************* Nice, clean and tidy pub. Cozy and warm. Pleasant staff. We both had mediocre pizza - we played spot the spicy chicken with mine which wasn't easy as there wasnt that much if it to spot to be fair and the rest of the pizza was near enough drowned in a spicy, sweet chilli jam that was not mentioned in the menu description, ended up scraping the vast majority of it off, granted it wasn't that bad however, if I had been presented with the choice I would not have gone with it.

We were greeted by Kym at the door, she was so lovely and welcoming! Just the kind, friendly face we needed. Both her and Alex went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I saw them give another table a fresh bowl of water for their dog too which was a lovely extra touch. I also noticed the kids area had lots to do which was good. Everything was clean and tidy. The food was fantastic as always and great value for money. Will definitely be back soon.

I keep coming back here it's turning into a thing. I can't keep away from the good food and the amazing service from the staff here, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Kym and Alex for the friendly welcome here and offering suggestions on food when I was sat looking lost to try something different I went for the chicken feast platter and it did not disappoint, no doubt I'll be back before the weeks again thank you both so much Kym and Alex I'll be seeing you again.

Another amazing meal and exemplary service from Kim and Alex. Food is always cooked to perfection, staff are always friendly and welcoming. Plenty of care is taken throughout visit to make sure everything is going ok, plenty of care is taken towards allergies. Definitely recommend anyone to come in from a single person to a full family as they have a great kids area also.
