MORE AT TripAdvisor

We have been visiting this cafe for years, as it’s a convenient stop just off, the roundabout at Sleaford, during long road trips, it was a little gem of a find, as we are not great fans of the other well known fast food outlets, you find on every busy traffic route or high street. For years, this cafe has been our chosen mid-way stop, 3 hours into our long journey, a highlight that was always welcomed and looked forward too greatly. However, sadly we stopped off on the long journey this week, only to find that “Lina’s” cafe is under new ownership. Now called “Frankies” we gave it ago anyway. But just how sorry we were, so so disappointed. Long gone is the warm welcome, Long gone is the wonderful menu, Long gone is the fresh home cooked food. Instead we were handed a clip board, childlike menu, not a lot of choices. Very very basic. After struggling to choose, and with heavy hearts of disappointment, I choose the all day breakfast, and my husband the scampi and chips. Unfortunately, when my now scarce breakfast arrived, it looked so poor my gut instinct was saying “get up now, walk away, go to the fast food mc Donald’s” the once fresh, locally sourced ingredients have been replaced with cheap and nasty.... wafer thin fatty bacon, 1 slice under cooked and grisly. 1 saw dust filled processed sausage, 1 battery hen runny fried egg, chopped tinned tomatoes, you know the cheap value type, watered mush. 1 slice of artificial black pudding? Accompanied by 1 slice of value white bread. It was absolutely disgusting. One look, at the plate turned my stomach, one bite of that over-processed “sausage “ churned my guts. It was in-edible to say the least. My husband’s scampi was as bad, bland, cheap inferior value type.frozen chips (this cafe used to pride itself in using fresh, home made chipped potatoes) a few lettuce leaves and cucumber on the side....all cheap value range ingredients. The chef looked like even mc Donald’s wouldn’t employ him. And I got the feeling that if he had ever gone to catering college, he must have been, bottom of the class. Just was a let down, over priced by far, for absolutely disgusting, cheap inferior ingredients. After years of visiting, years of recommending. It’s A BIG FAT NO, NEVER AGAIN WILL WE VISIT” the new owners have destroyed, a once hidden gem cafe, on a major traffic route. They have a lot too learn, but in my opinion, the business will fail, and close down. The food quality, the menu, all no so POOR. Any one know of another cafe in the area, convenient to a road stop off around the Sleaford area?

I called in here whilst driving through Lincolnshire. It’s on the edge of town and handy to get to when traffic into the town is heavy. It’s a serviceable, no frills cafe. Although the menu was very tatty and the decor is outdated, the food offerings are quite broad and the service is lovely. I enjoyed a good Cheese & Mushroom Omelette - it was huge, with a nice fresh salad also. There’s a steady stream of customers, possibly most people are travelling through, but I got a good lunch here. Thank you.

Only disadvantage was the toilet was on the back of the kitchen which obviously can't be helped, But they also wasn't very clean when we went.

I had lunch with a friend today at Lina's Café and really enjoyed it. I chose the tuna steak, served with vegetables and saute potatoes. It was delicious and I would definitely go there again. I would only make one request and that is for Lina to give some thought to providing more choices for vegetarians. Her roast dinners are legendary in Sleaford but there are no options if you are not a meat eater. I loved my tuna steak but I don't eat meat and I would really like to be able to have a veggie roast dinner next time. Oh and can we have stuffing balls with it please? Fabulous staff too.

I have visited Linas cafe quite a lot over the past couple of years and it has become a favourite place of mine to meet with friends for breakfast. The staff are always really friendly and do anything they can to accommodate your wishes. Their breakfast is great as you can pick and choose what you want and how you want it cooking... I can be a bit fussy as I'm on a diet, but every time they have come through with my order cooked as I requested! The portions are big, offering great value for money. The place is clean, although looks a little messy at the back towards the toilet, as there is stock around. The only down side for me is that there is no music, which I feel would just add a little bit of atmosphere to the place. Overall, it is a great place to go and have a coffee or a bite to eat!! I highly recommend it.

We went here on Saturday for tea, I was surprised how empty it was. We have been before. Overall the food here is good and so are the portions, they don't skimp on them. You get what you pay for, however, there is practically nothing here for vegetarians, my daughter had to order a really random set of dishes to eat here, which made me feel uncomfortable eating a lovely meal in front of her. I would love to come back but probably won't because of the lack of vegetarian options available. Offering a vegi burger or vegetarian pie of some description would not be hard. The deserts are lovely, especially the custard. Think they need to bear in mind not everyone is a meat eater.

My parents have been here and to old me to try it. Called in on Sunday for lunch, the cafe was quite busy. The menu has a good variety of meals in it, I would say not your typical cafe as they do proper meals such as roast dinner. The service is friendly and efficient and the food was piping hot, which is a must for me. The prices are reasonable too. We also had dessert and that was also piping hot, I don't know what custard they use but I would gladly have eaten my weight in it, it was lovely. We called in again on Wednesday for a cuppa while waiting to go swimming. My daughter had scrambled eggs on toast, and the factv that they use kingsmill bread and spreadable proper butter made all the difference, not the cheap crappy margarine that some places use that tastes rank. Over all it is a clean, nice cafe/eatery with a good menu and reasonably priced.

We were recommended Lina's and tried it out about 1-45 for lunch. The place was still three parts full and we admired lots of large plates of food as we went to a window table. After a brief wait we ordered and were surprised at the extensive menu. This cafe is more aimed at older clientele but as well as roasts and traditional dishes there was a smattering of other stuff to tempt you.My roast lamb dinner arrived and was an enormous portion. The veg was fresh and perfectly cooked (cauliflower, french beans and carrots). Plenty of roast potatoes and a ubiquitous yorkshire pudding. My partner had ordered burger and chips which was equally sizeable with added cheese and bacon for good measure. Most menu items cost between four and six quid - I hear the gammon is popular and we saw some people manfully tackling very large omelettes. The toilets were scrupulously clean and Lina herself manages the front of house efficiently and cheerfully. Our drinks were ice cold on a boiling hot day and as we left we agreed that this cafe is nigh-on perfect.

As soon as we walked into the Stone Arms, both my wife and I, was greeted by the waitress/bar maid, who was so polite, charming and very welcoming. She showed us to our table and even though we were early, as our names were reserved the night before, there was no concern so we ordered our drinks. There was no rush to order, and the place was full with customers both in the restaurant and the bar. Our starters arrived and were lovely, fresh and delicious. We ordered the small Sunday dinners (small they were not), they were cooked to perfection with the cauliflower cheese sauce to die for. I was so full that I elected for a coffee. My wife ordered the apple crumble for dessert (I did taste a small bit - very yummy). All in all a wonderful experience. Staff were very lovely and so polite. Smiles all around. In my opinion, and I have been to all the restaurants in Lincoln, it was the best and we both thoroughly recommend you book. My only issue? ? Parking! The car park was full.
