Book this place at you peril. We rang before our booking date as Google was saying site was permanently closed, the site owner didn't let us finish our 1st sentence before he was rude and obnoxious. Then we were told our booked "tent grass pitch with electric hook up" which looked lovely on the site pictures would be on a hardstanding at the side of the road. When I asked how you pitch a tent on a hard standing (didn't seem an unreasonable question to me) we were told to F'off. Decided to book elsewhere, to be honest the bloke can keep the money we paid, I'd rather lose £170 than speak to this bloke again.

DO NOT BOOK THIS CAMPSITE Pitch-up should not be allowing this site to advertise. The pub is closed - which is in no way clear with a site who's details start with 'fancy a pint ...' the site was waterlogged so we should have been refunded anyway but the owner expected us to just say on the path into the site with no-where for us to sit with our friends. The only other people on the site were people living there permanently. The site was run down and nothing like what was advertised. When we requested refund the owner refused and was rude. We had to find an alternative site and have lost the money from this one. Please don't fall into the trap of booking this site

We expected winter camping in Feb but this place is not suitable. The owner phoned as we were setting off to tell us to stay off the grass, the pub was shut and park on the road until he arrived, which he didn't. Being offered to park on a road doesn't work instead of a pitch. Overall the site is very delapidated with poor faciliities. The pub which is his main selling feature is not open. Owner has been contacted but from previous reviews here and on Pitch Up he is not keen to resolve or receive feedback. On the plus side we found a very well run campsite nearby Sumners Pond.

Just returned from a 1 night stay on the campsite and had a great time. Very warm welcome from the landlord on arrival and showed us to our pitch for the night. Had a fantastic meal in the evening and staff friendly and good service. Food portions and quality were excellent. Pub has real character and oldie world charm. Campsite has everything you need for a couple of nights stay, showers, toilets, washing up areas etc, all kept clean and usable. Would have no issues with recommending and will return when we get the chance in future.

Absolutely vile owner. Like a petulant child if you write a bad review & hurls abuse at you instead of maybe looking at how he is going wrong. Believe every bad review on here as they are most certainly true. Tasteless food, rude service, more interested on being on their phones rather than giving an ounce of customer service & then they wonder why they have so many bad reviews. Can't wait for the inbox message I'll get after writing this! The man is a bully & I'd avoid this place at all costs!!!!

We stopped for a drink while out for a relaxing Sunday ride. For prettiness, we cannot fault the setting. It was lovely and sunny so we had our drink in the garden. The customer service however, leaves a lot to be desired. My partner didn't have his glasses with him, he asked the strength of the ales. The girl behind the bar, just pointed at the beer taps and said look. And turned her back on us. Great attitude I must say. We told her too. Went right over her head. Decided on a lager, sat in the garden then left. Won't be going back there ir recommending it

I already know that the landlord is going to reply by saying that I'm not welcome back, but it won't be necessary to blacklist me since we have no intention of returning. We stayed in the campsite and had a very poor stay. When we arrived we were told by the landlord we could not park on the grass - our pre booked pitch - because it would 'mess up the grass', even though it wasn't wet. So we had to park on the road. There are only three tiny shower rooms who's doors go directly to the outside, and you have to stand on a makeshift wooden crate that all the water splashes onto to dry yourself. They are cold and damp, and the radiators inside aren't on even in the early spring. The water runs on a meter, so you have to put in the correct amount of 20 pence pieces for how long you want to shower for, and the machine is not reliable at all and sometimes doesn't register when you put in coins. The pub service was awful, I'm sorry to say. We were left to decide what we wanted to eat and when the waitress came back to take our orders I was told that what I decided to have when I told her was not even on the menu anymore and the menu was outdated. Eventually I decided on what to eat but nothing on the menu appealed to me. My mum ordered a red pepper and mozzarella burger, but asked if it could be done without the mozzarella, and was told yes as it's all freshly made. When it arrived it was simply a slice of pepper in a burger bun. For £13.95. Not only that but it also came with mayonnaise in it, even though we expressly requested for it to be vegan to cater for my mum. The waitress - who is also the landlady - took it back but didn't seem to understand the phrase 'vegan'. It appears that the landlord, who also manages all of the campsite check-ins whilst running a pub all by himself is the chef. We wouldn't have left a review like this if he was a nice person but you can see just from all of the other reviews how rude a man he is, and although he was friendly when we checked in (after waiting for him to be free from whatever he was doing in the pub), we could sense after a few interactions that he has some underlying anger. Also, please learn how to spell before telling everybody that leaves a review pointing out the flaws in your campsite to go back to school.

Seven of us, aged 75-8, enjoyed a tasty lunch at this friendly country pub. The service was efficient and friendly and the food carefully prepared. There was also the unexpected attraction of steam engines being maintained outside the pub! The price of the lunch was as expected and offered good value for money.

The whole event ran like clockwork, could not be faulted. The venue is lovely, warm and traditional. Everyone loved it!! Cant say much more!!

This is a very pretty and traditional pub - both inside and out. Outside between the pub and a quiet road are a series of pub tables and benches for summer eating and quaffing and inside there is a small bar and a series of dining tables, a bit of a squash, an inglenook fireplace and a plethora of horse brasses. It is a Fullers pub so you can expect London Pride, HSB and Seafarers. A good traditional pub-style menu. (Roast on Sundays can sometimes seem a bit tough so we've found best to stick to the main menu). Our only downside is being called 'Guys' by the young (and solo) Waitress who has to cope with the entire clientele. Yes 'Guys' now seems to be the vernacular used by many of her age for all customers, of both sexes and of all ages so probably unstoppable. But some customers do not enjoy this mode of address and such could be a good reason for them (and us) to look for refreshment elsewhere locally - and there is no shortage of competition. So, it's up to the management to determine what type of customers they wish to encourage and retain.

Lovely beer garden when the weathers nice and good cosy dining inside when the weathers not so nice. Good pies and fish and chips - best ploughmans in world. Friendly serve. Not fancy gastro pub but honest good pub grub!

Passing through the area, we had no idea of places to eat. We had been told that this pub served better food than others in the village so we were hoping for a lovely meal. Sadly we were disappointed! Very average pub menu, emphasis on pies!

Second time we have eaten lunch there and each time was good. Must try the Limeburners for dinner next and review that. We had a ploughmans lunch and sandwiches which were both good. Nice people there too, very welcoming and polite. No doubt this is a popular country pub in West Sussex offering both good food and service and a good selection of beers.

Scruffy interior - not clean. We ordered lunch and sat outside. Was given a box of cutlery condiments with various sauces to carry to our table outside. , the dispenser lid of the mustard was black with ancient sticky dried on mustard and dirt. i told the one member of staff who apologised, took it away, threw it in the bin behind the bar, but did not replace . No salt or pepper. Waited nearly an hour to be served.. food was dumped on our table with no apology. My sea bass was served swimming in oil. No waiting on tables ourside so not easy to complain after such a long wait. Moved inside as we were cold and asked for a coffee - the same one member of staff who was behind the bar as well as serving food, looked shocked and seemed nervous of such a request but agreed to try to make us one coffee and one tea but then came to our table o say she couldn't work the machine - so no hot drinks!! We left and will not be returning.i regretted paying up front for such a poorly cooked and presented and delayed lunch.

We had a really lovely roast dinner here! The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. Before lunch from the carpark we did a 2 hour walk through green meadows and woodland. This pub is a great spot for food and a beautiful countryside walk.

Almond croissants at weekends, butter croissants in the weekdays. Lovely fresh croissants. Delicious! I was brought fresh , crispy croissants from truffles for my breakfast. Definitely worth waking up for !

Usually I have been very happy with the cakes and coffee here, always fresh and tasty but Saturday we purchased some doughnuts and it was obvious on first bite that they were stale, at least from the previous day. Little jam also. Disappointed
