Very welcoming and lovely food. At last someone has got hold of this hostelry and made it what it should be. It was nice to go in to the Lime Kilns again and feel welcome. My wife and I went in with our 2 whippets for lunch & was greeted with a smile and warm welcome. I had the chicken New Yorker, my wife had the lasagne. Both were excellent. Time to start telling boaters it's a place to go once again. We will be heading there next week on our boat again.

Booked to celebrate my daughter’s birthday here and we weren’t disappointed . We were a party of 19 so we had the separate room downstairs to our selves which was brilliant . All our food was lovey well cooked and good size portions . Not a single meal was left because it wasn’t nice a little left because we couldn’t fit it in . It was really good value too. Would defiantly recommend for a good wholesome pub food . They went the extra mile and also left my daughter a card on the table from the staff . Staff were all really friendly and helpful .

Moored at The Limekiln and this was our 1st visit on our own narrowboat after visiting a couple of years ago on a hire boat. Since our 1st visit there's been a change of tenant(or ownership, I'm not sure which) anyway we moored on a Sunday amd went into the pub which was quite busy. We noticed a couple having Sunday lunch and it looked lovely so we ordered one each. My wife had beef and I had the crispy belly pork. Both were accompanied by roast potatoes, roast parsnips, Yorkshire pud and stuffing with leeks in cheese sauce, carrots, brocolli and cauliflower. All were really really nice, portions great for 2 hungry boaters and the gravy was proper!! It was like I'd gone to my favourite nans for Sunday dinner...proper homemade and tasty...staff very friendly and the Rosie still cider very nice as we both love a still cider!! Keep up the good work!! Oh amd by the way thr belly pork was melt in the mouth....gorgeous

Called in for lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. First time we’ve visited since the new owners took over, and whilst I never had a problem with the previous owners it was nice to see that the place had been spruced up. Extremely friendly staff and the food was excellent and still very good value. Looking forward to trying the Sunday lunch, which was highly recommended. Also worth noting that the Sunday lunch has two vegetarian and two vegan options.

Great roasts and everything else you'd expect in a traditional pub. We were made to feel very welcome in the pub as we entered and our table had been reserved as requested. Our food was served very quickly and it was delicious. We had the diced lamb and a rump steak followed by pudding. The beers are really well kept and the landlord even sells his own brews which were superb. This is a pub pub. Called in for drinks and meal with dog. Asked about dog told yes allowed but down stairs please, fair comment I thought. Having passed through warm, cosy bar, atmospheric room we went down stairs and found the barren dog room, bare bricks and dust, concrete on floor, building board against wall, no heating, no pictures, no music, no atmosphere more like a dungeon. Just one notice, keep dogs off furniture. Told by staff it had just been decorated !!!. Given dirty menu not the same menu as upstairs, felt why should we eat in this bland, dark, dingy room for the same price as upstairs, just because we have a well trained dog. Left pub without buying anything, wrote a firm but pleasant review by email to help them that night with how we felt, this has been ignored no reply. So here we are, Lime kiln Brew Pub not for dogs lovers, would never go back there, their loss of over £60. I had read bad reviews on the pub but it looked lovely on their website so we went anyway we thought maybe the other people may have just been overly fussy. The first thing that met us was the smell of bird poo, and the scattering everywhere of geese down (feathers) and geese poo. We should have left then but we decided we would have a drink because we had travelled and we were hot and thirsty. We had never heard of the beer but it didn't look good and tasted even worse than it looked it also had bits floating in it and sediment on the bottom of the glass. We sat there for a bit I think we were a bit shocked by how horrible the beer was and on looking into our beer and seeing all these bits floating up and down and all the sediment on the bottom we decided to threw our drinks away and leave.

We went there to, at least have light bites and potentially dine there but gave up. Their advert published that month talked of local foods and a ‘deli experience’ with home cooked foods to dine in or take away. No such thing exists. The downstairs cellar (available for private hire or if you have stupidly brought a dog!) is cold and and lacks any atmosphere. The ale selection was fair and the bag of scratchings a highlight. The owner should visit the The Globe at Snaresworth and see how it can be done just a few miles away.

When my wife asked for a Gin and Tonic she was told there was only one choice of Gin and only Britvic Tonic available. The staff then couldn't provide cucumber for the drink. How can you provide a classic G&T without cucumber? With G&T out of the question, we asked for a Mojito which was also denied. At this point, the locals were sniggering behind their drinks. Peasants. Feeling frustrated Camilla then asked about the choice of wine, we were shocked to find they didn't offer any wines from the Stellenboch region and could only offer one type of wine in single serve bottles. Finally settling for a pineapple juice we retired to the quaint garden by the canal. Once we found a table clean enough to sit at, we were accosted by chickens until we could take no more. In all, a very poor choice of beverage for the more discerning consumer.

We stopped off on a Sunday lunchtime at this pub beside Watling Street, the A5, for a light bite, e.g. a baguette with a side order of chips. No such luck on a Sunday. it's carvery only on Sundays. So it was a bag of crisps each for my partner and me. The staff weren't exactly rude but they were off-hand and behaved as though queuing customers were a nuisance. And to make our visit even worse, I then had a problem in the small car park. I had parked in a marked space but another car was then left sideways on, a few feet in front of mine, the landlord (I assume) stood beside it, for some reason with a calor gas container, and made no effort to help me leave the tight parking space. Dreadful.

Where do I start I know even giving it a one rating is to generous. We went for a special family reunion and what a disappointment. Was lovely looking out onto the canal but the chickens running round wasnt very hygienic. Should have left at that point. There was 9 of us, 2 ordered the chilli big mistake. It at best resembled chewed up and spat out dog food looked disgusting tasted even worse. The colour of it was a very pale beige not a red chilli colour. You could tell it had been defrosted and Luke warmed up as you could clearly see the rectangular outline of the Tupperware container. The worst was yet to come when we very kindly took it back inside not even eaten and pointed out the lady (think she was the owner?) was so defensive and rude it was unbelievable. I work in hotel management and id be horrified if any of my staff spoke to a customer like that. She was right we were wrong her exact words were 'well it's one of our most popular dishes if it's not to your liking I can't help that!' Seriously, not even a sorry yet alone an offer to replace it or take anything off the bill. We ordered more drinks and could see in the kitchen no one was wearing gloves, again not a good sign. When it came to paying the man at the bar was a bit more helpful than the lady then again that wasn't hard. And after a bit of tooing and froing he did take a nominal charge off the bill, but it should never have got to that point. The food was brought back uneaten that speaks volumes. I'd happily hand my hard earned cash over for good food and service but I begrudge it when both are not warranted and chancers think they can get away with it. I can not see how anyone thinks this is a good eating establishment. Do yourself a favour and go to the lovely harvester down the road, better food, better service, better value for money. DONT EAT HERE.

Definitely not a modern gastro-pub!Quite a lot of indoor seating as well as canal-side picnic tables, this pub offers quite a range of inexpensive dishes - including many different pies. We had a beef pie and a risotto. The presentation of the risotto was rather unusual and came with chips! Service was very much take it or leave it - but then you get what you pay for.

Called in for the curry night on Monday which was excellent value for money and there was a good choice of real ale.

Went here with my friend for our fortnightly catch up, we like to try different places round where we live. The welcome we got was far from friendly it seemed as if it was too much trouble. We both had our favourite fish and chips the meals came out very hot and quite quick it was nothing special however we did eat most of it, other customers came in while we were there and they never even got a smile. I don't think we will return.

Absolutely will visit this cafe every time we go to Hinckley! Great food and affordable. I have had several items off the menu and the steak burger and chips were beautiful and probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. Staff are friendly and nice, if you want to pay more for your food, go somewhere that will charge you more. Thank you, from a repeat customer, you definitely don’t deserve a 2.5 on trip advisor

We visited straight after spending the day at the zoo. I had scouted this place out beforehand as its just down the road.from the zoo and ideal for an evening meal before our drive home. The restaurant is spacious with great decor and a modern vibe. The menu was outstanding with a good variety for all interets as well as a decent kids menu. We opted for the seafood platter sharer, which for the price I wast sure would be very good however I was proved wrong. The quality was exceptional and far better than seafood platters I've had near the sea for twice the price. If you're visiting the zoo this place definitely worth a visit. Great quality, reasonable price and a stones throw from the zoo.

I really wish I could review better than 3*, the coffee is very good and the baristas are better than those at rival coffee houses........BUT, the queue is constantly long with very little effort to get the customers served any quicker. The tables are usually littered with dirty cups, again, little enthusiasm from the staff to clear and clean them. I also think the toilet could be cleaned more regularly, it's a lottery using it, sometimes it's very clean, but more often than not, it's dirty.
