Lime And Chilli Indian Restaurant in Isle of Wight

Expensive takeaway of average quality. Food & Hygiene Rating 2!! Only saw this when I went to collect the food, if I knew that I would have avoided. Avoid the onion bhaji it was like eating fried hay. The chicken chat puri was a tika version with a very sad looking and unappetising salad.The best dish was the Lamb jalfresi which tasted very nice. The Nans were of a good size and cooked well. Having lived in India and Nepal I’m used to making my own curries, but I was tired and thought I’d treat myself. Prices were steep for an Indian takeaway compared to London but I thought judging by the area of Seaview the food quality would also reflect the prices, not so. Glad that I didn’t eat inside, there is no atmosphere at all whatsoever and no one in sight, very strange.

Visiting Isle of Wight we came across this Indian Restaurant close to our accommodation. We ordered a takeaway. When we went to get our order, we found out that the hygiene rating was 2. It did put us off but we still took our food because we had ordered it and it was quite late. The garlic chill chicken was bland and the paneer tikka masala was full of some deep red blood colour. Not really as authentic as they promised on their website. The two stars are for the staff who were friendly and courteous.

Delivery was 2 hours late. Driver was completely incompetent and didn’t answer the phone when we called. We have asked to be refunded and the restaurant have refused. When the food did arrive at 11:30pm the restaurant had already been shut for an hour so we were unable to return the food. Most of our guests (originally 9 people) had left as it was too late to eat. Ruined our evening.

Superb food very authentic. Staff friendly and helpful. Takeaways can take some time but food is always spot on.

My 2nd meal from here, and not good news. My last review was very positive, but what a difference !!! We ordered a takeaway for delivery and paid the extra delivery fee. My slot was 6:15 to 6:30 pm. Food arrived at 7:20pm. I rang the restaurant to chase my order just before 7pm, the person on the other line wasn't interested, just kept repeating they were busy. Okay, its late but its here, lets eat. I chose from the menu a signature dish, Goan Chicken. The description was chicken marinated and cooked with garlic, ginger, mint, coriander and other herbs. What I got was pieces of tandoori chicken in a red hot gravy. So hot I couldn't eat it. There was no mention of this being a spicy dish and at £12 plus £4 for my rice, a complete waste of money. Mint, coriander and garlic are all strong flavours, none of which I could taste. My wife opted for the Chicken Tikka Byriani. She loved it last time. However on this occasion the vegetable sauce was watery and tasteless. Ordering a curry is a rare treat for us, and at £40 not something we could afford to do every week. I thought we had found our "go to" restaurant but alas, feel disappointed and quite frankly cheated. My search continues.

Beware poor customer service and cold food not even delivering everything we ordered We ordered a takeaway being about 6 minutes away and after well passed the delivery time we phoned and was told it was out for delivery After 35 minutes we phoned again and was told it was still out for delivery and asked to speak to the manager as we were concerned the food would be cold expecting an apology and explanation What we received was shocking as lots of excuses and being told we would be blacklisted for delivery’s in the future because we dared to say if the food was cold we would like our money back The fact that one person told us that the food was out for delivery twice and the manager something different speaks volumes When the food was delivered it was cold and some of it was missing but we just reheated it as we we’re hungry and it was unlikely we would have got another takeaway quickly We do not have takeaways often and this was a special occasion and this spoiled the evening Just an apology and good customer service would have helped

Nice basement restaurant which is tastefully decorated. The four of us were all disappointed with our meals as we found them lacking in flavour and seasoning. Service was rather sullen and not even a thank you for the gratuity we left. All in all we were disappointed.

Had family staying and wanted a curry, however the 2 local curry houses have both recently had poor Food Hygiene ratings after an inspection so I randomly picked this restaurant from google maps, read a review or 2 and decided to give it a go. Wow ! So glad I took a punt. We had a lamb tikka byriani, a chicken tikka masala and a chicken tikka balti, rice and poppadoms. 3 cleared plates later and 3 happy faces. The food arrived hot and on time, delivered to my door. The flavours and textures were outstanding. I will certainly be ordering from here again and will visit for a sit down too!

We were looking forward to visiting but wish we hadn't. Place just had one other table in on a Saturday evening. 4 of us met for dinner, the bill was £50 per couple, with no starters nor dessert. Portions were large but expensive and just not tasty. No alcohol served here, so take your own. Just not a good experience and zero atmosphere. Place was tatty and staff wandering around in tracksuits/no-one came to check how the food was. Can't recommend and wouldn't go again. Such a shame.

Ordered a a large take away from here and all of the food was under seasoned. A lot of salt and spices needed to be added to each dish. The biriyani was bland and meat was tough, the onion bhaji was dry oily and stale at the same time. Ordered prawn tikka masala and they charged us for a king prawn tandoori (not what we ordered and a lot more expensive). The rest of the curries just lacked spices and flavour. The nann was good. this was an order for 12 so it may have been the rush of getting it done that made the food sub par quality. But still, when we spend £170 at your restaurant the minimum we expect is tasty food. Highly disappointed with this place, won’t be using them again.

The staff were very knowledgable about the dishes and content - very aware of food allergies. We are in the restaurant and chef came out of kitchen to advise us. The sauces that arrive with the popadoms are all made in the kitchen- mango chutney - red pepper sweet sauce was delicious we ordered more tubs to take home . Service was quick and all dishes ordered were delicious and really good quality. Lime & Chilli are a take away service too and a new business to the area - go and eat you won’t be disappointed

I love indian food, and this restaurant didn’t disappoint. Fantastic food and service. My chicken tikka balti was the best I’ve had in a long time. Luckily we realised before we went to take our own wine- as that wasn’t clear from the outside. Highly recommend. Thank you.
