Popped in here on the final morning of a short trip to Harrogate. We’re regulars in the town, but hadn’t been here before…. What a find! Lovely friendly welcome, fabulous coffee, and in terms of the food - best sausage and bacon sandwich I’ve had for a long time. As for the scrambled egg my partner had, I can confirm it was fabulous from the small taste I pinched off her! Definitely intend to try their full English breakfast on our next trip to Harrogate..

We walked past the place and thought it looked like a nice place to try as we were just visiting harrogate for the day. We ordered a club sandwich and a homemade lasagne with chips. Both dishes were delicious. The place was clean and fresh looking and the service was excellent. Would definitely go there again for food.

Called here early afternoon on a Thursday. Fairly quiet but it was after the peak lunchtime. Menu fairly basic but something for everyone. Wife had soup and a sandwich and I had a club sandwich. Both were really nice and good sized portions. Prices were reasonable, particularly for Harrogate. I believe all the quiches, scones, cakes etc are home made by the owner. Will definitely try again.

Visited as was recommended and I’ve been looking for more local independent type cafes as I’m fed up of chains. The menu was exactly what I was looking for - nice breakfasts, and usual things you would expect in a little cafe. However, it was let down by the service. The waiter seemed like he didn’t want us to be there! Very aloof when taking our order. It felt unwelcoming. Also he kept staring at us in a strange way while we were eating our food, it made me feel uncomfortable, so kind of spoilt it. As the menu and the food were good. I will consider going back for the food, in the hope of better service next time. If it’s the same, I won’t go back. Such a shame because that really let the place down, and cafes like that are few and far between. It would be great if the service wasn’t so uncomfortable. I will give it another try, give them benefit of doubt.

Visited with a friend, the latte had a weird taste not sure if it was the coffee itself or made with long life milk but not very pleasant, my scone was lovely & my friend ordered chocolate cake which they warmed up without asking, maybe their version is meant to be served this way as it was a bit gooey with chocolate sauce running on the plate, whilst service was fine, I adore my lattes & wouldn’t rush back!

We were staying locally and didn't want to pay the hotel price for breakfast. We had walked past this café the previous evening and thought we would try it. The place was very empty but the food was wonderful. We ordered a full breakfast, a sausage bap and tea for two. The tea came in a beautiful teapot, with cups and saucers. The food was all freshly cooked and was delicious. Very nice little cafe. The cakes looked amazing, so we would return if we went back into Harrogate.

Having stayed in town overnight, we were looking for somewhere to have a good breakfast. Found Lilly's by accident and, even though there was no one else in when we arrived, we thought we'd try it. Lovely and clean inside, we ordered the cooked breakfast with two latte coffees. Everything was piping hot, good quality and the toast was actually toast and not soggy bread that you get elsewhere. A great find, good service and somewhere to come back to when next we're in town.

We had an excellent meal here today. Lasagne and salad. The lasagne was fresh, home made and was really tasty. The salad was lovely, not just a bit of lettuce but a variety of lettuce, strawberry, pineapple, grape, tomato, cucumber, coleslaw and potato salad. A really delicious meal and excellent value. The gentleman who served us was lovely, really helpful. I’d definitely recommend coming here.

Visited early Monday morning for breakfast with my husband and 5 year old son. As mentioned I another review, there is a book just inside to leave track and trace details as well as a no touch hand gel. Cafe is doing the Eat out to help out scheme so three cooked breakfasts, a pot of tea and a coffee with refill was around £10. Food was delicious, 5 year old ate more than expected! Coffee was really good and the tea came in a really pretty pot. Half way through I was asked if I wanted a refill of my coffee which was well received. The owner was really polite and welcoming and had a chat with our little boy which made him feel special. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend.

We stopped off for a coffee during our bargain hunting. Very laid back atmosphere and no intimidating staff hovering around to hush you along. A book was placed on a table near the door requesting that visitors write their name and contact details. And a bottle of self releasing hand sanitiser placed to one side. Such a shame that this little business needs to be provide this but during these covid times I think its not only important but a necessity. The staff wore the relevant face shields and our table was cleaned. Our coffees were HOT HOT HOT! A refreshing change to the usual luke warm lattes that most coffee shops seem to provide these days. The menu looked appealing and I would defo call in again the next time I'm in Harrogate. I think it so important to support local businesses and this is a good example of one of them.

As residents of Harrogate, my partner & I have been going to Lilly’s now for quite sometime, as we like to support our local businesses. But also we always enjoy their food, however, after the last couple of recent visits, we’ve found the service in this place is really letting it down badly, especially by the man behind the counter who ‘appears’ to be in charge! I’ve found him to be exceptionally rude, unhelpful & his reluctance to accept that he’d got my partner’s order wrong, was just appalling! He doesn’t even use a notepad, or look at you & he’s not English, so he’s not particularly easy to communicate with - especially as I’m hard of hearing! They never seem to have many staff on & the cafe is usually busy. The lovely lady who makes all of Lilly’s delicious food, came out to see us. As regulars we’d got to know her, and she apologised for the ‘misunderstanding’. I pointed out that if our order had been written down, it may not have happened. Like many places, Harrogate is struggling to stay alive at the moment & many shops are closing down for one reason or another. If Lilly’s is to survive, then this man needs to totally reconsider his customer care skills, or find another job which would make him happy, as he’s always so miserable, plus he’s never wrong!! I’m sure it must put the customers off their food! There’s a lot of competition out there & he’s not helping! The food is always nice & prices are reasonable, but Mr Sourpuss is curdling the cream!!

Given this place many good reviews as has always been excellent. Unfortunately today clearly understaffed. Service was shocking, took 25 to take our order and a further 35 minutes for food to arrive which doesn't sound alot but usually much quicker. Also burning aroma coming from the kitchem and quite smoky. Food also not as good as usual. Think there were 6 tables taken before we arrived and some people had already received their orders so not unusually busy. Sorry but very disappointing.

I had the English breakfast for £5,50. That's a good price, and the breakfast was OK, nothing more. The fried egg, disppointingly, was half hard. Apart from the dryish mushrooms, the rest was all right; they give you an opened-out sausage, which is different. The tea was tasteless, but you do get a big pot. The café looks very nice, with wood (or wood-effect) floors, dado, and black marble-effect table tops. The guy serving was distant and cold, which seemed inappropriate for a cosy place like this.

My last review of Lillys some years back i described the cafe as better than Bettys, okay slightly blown up opinion i know but i think its massively better value and tastier food and bigger portions than Bettys! Im a Harrogate Local and i rarely go into Bettys but its a must for visitors.Lillys Do several ALL DAY breakfast options the one we chose was at the top of the menu which includes 2 fried eggs(tastiest ive ever had)and they seem to be cooked like poached eggs,2 rashers of thick quality tasty bacon and 2 Masham sausages split in half to cook which i love and quality baked beans Very tasty! £5.50 for this but i havent sussed the food options out yet as i think for a few pence more you get tea included. We had a breakfast each plus a pot of tea for me and a latte for my mum and it was about £15.Good value i think. Will return very soon.Dont know why i left it so long to return!

We visited Lilly's for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The male waiter took our order reasonably quickly. However it seems he misunderstood what we wanted. We ordered a breakfast but when the food came it was not the one we ordered & was a different variation of the breakfast instead. Not a major issue apart from this one had items that we didn't like & was missing the ones we did like! I pointed this out to the female server just to let her know that there had been a mistake & without saying anything she brought over another female waitress. Again we just explained that there had been a mistake in the order & we'd been given the wrong breakfast. We thought it must just be a simple misunderstanding due to the male server having a strong foreign accent & maybe hadn't understood us but explained we were just letting them know & would just eat what we were given to save the waste. We only pointed it out in the hope to prevent future issues. The female server apologised & left. Then the original male waiter came over and asked what the problem was, again we explained there had been a misunderstanding but we would deal with it as we didn't want to wait any longer. He walked off, grabbed a plate & came over insisting that I scrape the things I didn't like off my plate & onto a separate plate whilst sat at the table! This is by no means a smart restaurant but that's a request I was not comfortable with! He wasn't exactly polite when he insisted this numerous times! Again I said we'd deal with it as that wasn't something I was willing to do. He eventually came over & pushed a plate onto the table very abruptly containing the spare items I was missing for my breakfast but not for my Husbands & just walked off without saying a word! We then had to sit & endure eating the rest of our breakfast whilst the male waiter, two female staff & a very loud rude female that looked like the chef stood at the cpunter talking about us. It definitely sounded as though this was not a one-off occurence. When the bill came we were not compensated at all for the issues & we paid up just wanting to leave without them being more rude to us. I popped to the toilet before leaving & when I came out they were again discussing us at the counter in full view of all the other customers. I said bye on my way past & was completely ignored. We were nothing but polite about the whole thing & to the staff & in return received such cold responses. It's a shame as the food itself was actually nice but the staff are so rude, obnoxious & unprofessional. Reading through the other reviews I can definitely see why these were scored. Such bad service. We won't be back & don't recommend Lilly's to anyone!

If you go purely for coffee, I definitely do not recommend. One of the worst coffees I ever had. No taste milky water. The whole place looked a bit tired and dirty and could smell cigarette fumes coming from outside. I called him back abd told him it wasn't what i ordered so he stormed off with it. Another customer was then given a sandwich on brown bread. Club sandwich for me and fish cakes for her. Club sandwich was good although toast overdone in parts and they'd also used the crusty end of the loaf which doesn't really work for me! Would highly recommend it and it's right in the town by the bus station. We decided it was a better option than paying £10 each for b'fast at the hotel for what might have been something kept warmed up on a hot plate, rather than freshly cooked. On a day out in Harrogate with friends we came across Lilly's and it looked just the sort of place we like. There was plenty of choice and the prices were very reasonable. The waitress was very friendly and the food was really good and served piping hot. we will definitely be going again when in Harrogate again.

We've walked past several times while out shopping, and finally stopped in yesterday. What a find! It was comfortable and cozy, and the food was fresh and delicious. The salad garnish was nearly the size of a full salad and beautifully presented, the prawn and fish cakes were delicious. Tea was served in a large and pretty teapot. Prices were very reasonable. Cakes were very tempting, but as we hadn't saved room, they'll have to wait for next time. Will definitely be back.

I made the mistake of going to lillys today for breakfast. My acquaintance and I both ordered the full English breakfasts. We both had some important questions regarding the breakfast, and with breakfast being the most important meal of the day I would have hoped the staff would have known the answers to our simple questions, that was my second mistake of the day. My acquaintance had asked for scrambled eggs and one fried egg. 15 minuets later our drinks were served, I had ordered a orange juice but I was served my acquaintances cola. I appreciate this is nothing to get annoyed about but it shows the lack of personal touch the staff at this cafe have. We patiently waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited for our breakfasts to be served I was starting to worry that I would be sat at the table waiting for my breakfast on New Year's Eve and unfortunately I hadn't brought any party poppers with me but after a long long long wait we were served out food, the food was served by a rude odieux (French for obnoxious) man, my acquaintance's plate was missing the fried egg he had earlier asked for. When he pointed this out to the waitor he question my acquaintance as too weather he did in fact order the fried egg. It felt like he was accusing him of being a liar, there was no apology and he turned to me and showed me my plate and said sarcastically "is this good enough for you". The rude waiter then kept giving me and my acquaintance the evils whilst we were eating out food then as he was leaving he shook his head at my acquaintance. Not once did a waiter come and ask us if we were happy with the food or if they could help with anything. I eventually managed to flag the waitress down and ordered a can of coke to help wash down my food. The waitress then went to get my can of coke, got it out of the fridge, then decided to have a conversation with the other rude waiter for 5 minuets at least when she finally brought it over I had finished my food and the coke wasn't needed any more. The overall experience was terrible and I will not be setting foot in there again. If I wanted bad service and rude waiters I would goto France. As a final word, I would like to say that I want to stick 2 great British fingers up to rude waiters and bad service.

Fantastic cafe in centre of town. First class food always cooked fresh and great service. Reckon their breakfasts are easily the best in town plus sausages etc are locally sourced. Can't fault it - great coffee too. Can recommend their breakfast, burgers and their Club sandwich which is exceptionally good. Ideal to meet friends for lunch or a quick bite and a coffee.

Finally got to go to Lily's a couple of weeks ago after a couple of hours shopping(mostly queuing in M&S;) just after lunch time.Well, what an absolute gem.Firstly the staff were very welcoming and helpful as we couldn't make up our minds. The decor and ambiance was just right i felt so comfortable and relaxed ,just what you need after stressful Christmas shopping .Tea served in beautiful china teapot which i wanted to take home with me .Sandwiches were delicious, not huge bread buns thankfully more like triangles, but certainly enough for me and my friend and with side salad.Would have loved to try the Bakewell Tart that had just been made ( it was enormous) and there were other amazing cakes on show but we were full. Should have taken some home but as I will be calling in every time I go into town I will just have to work my way through them all .Can't wait .Well done Lily

Lovely cosy cafe, which I found to be reasonably good value, we had the panini's and the latte was spot on (for me to be a coffee snob) They serve your usual cafe foods with panini's, toasties. At the counter there were very tempting selection of doorstep high cakes and gateau's. I would come back here for a quick lunch if next time in Harrogate...

Been here loads of times usually totally enjoyed last couple of times the new waitress has ignored me and my children for ages and around were dirty tables with cups etc on. Finally after taking our order the waitress struggled with me asking for child portions amd with basic English as there is no kids menu. When meal arrived asked for mayo the waitress rolled her eyes took ten minutes even though no one waiting then gave me the tiniest amount ever.!!! Shame as usually a joy

My wife and I always dine here when in Harrogate. Service is invariably swift and pleasant although it can be busy at lunch times. We find the quality of the food to be consistantly good and the prices are very reasonable. Tea may seem pricey at £1.90 but the teapot contains about 6 cups of tea.

Had a hard morning working and went here with 2 friends for a well deserved tea and cake. Asked several times if we could order and were deliberately ignored and tables cleared infavour of our order. Left and went to Bean and Bud and had a far better experience. I will never go back and suggest you try Bean and Bud instead , definitely recommended, friendly and quality teas, coffee, cake and food.

Having a unexpected day of leisure been a local a wonder around the shops was on the cards. As lunch time fast approaching I headed down to Lilly's in the hope of getting a table. Managing to get a single table tucked away my order was quickly taken. Hot chicken baguette with salad and chips. As this was a day of leisure I felt comfortable that I could take out my book and read and relax. Not hurried that they wanted the table. Food arrived prompt and well done. Chips were excellent. After a long lunch the rain had stopped I went back refreshed and full to happy shopping and hope to return again soon..............

We found this place by chance on a weekend away in Harrogate by which time we were pretty hungry. We enjoyed brie and bacon sandwiches which a bowl of chips to share, which were nicely presented and tasted great! Also had a large coffee and a pot of tea between us. We all felt it was very good value and the café was a lovely setting. Will definitely be visiting again.

I visit Lilly's regularly. The place is clean and comfortable and has benefited from a refurb. I have eaten many things from the menu and have never had cause to complain. The ham is home cooked gammon ham (a dream), the breakfast top quality ingredients. Indeed everything is pretty much home made, except the chips which is a little disappointing. The beautiful cakes are amazing and such great choice. Prices are exceptionally reasonable. Tea is served in China pots and actually looks like tea should. Varied menu, amazing salads, everything on, even fruit. I could go on and on, but just go and give it a try. Expect to wait, food and service not always quick, but one person cooks everything from fresh, in a small area. If you want quality and value it's worth waiting for. Keep up the good work Lilly's. See you soon

Lilly's has been recommended to us by a couple of people so I tried it a couple of times. The first time I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. It seemed to take forever to arrive, not good when you have little ones. When it did though, it was good, as was my buddies cooked breakfast. It was tasty enough that I thought I'd try again. The next time I made it for before noon in the hope I would beat the rush. This time I timed it too and sure enough, 45 minutes later I had my scrambled eggs. For scrambled eggs and a tuna sandwich in a half empty cafe, 45 mins seems crazy to me even if they are nice and fluffy. I guess Lilly's would be a good destination if your party isn't hungry and has time to kill. My agenda tends not to look like that so I'll not be rushing back.

Saturday evening was spent enjoying another of Lily's Evening Spectacular 3 Course Extravaganza. One word "Sublime" fantastic food, the lamb in particular was a favourite on our table but then so were the starters we all demolished being either spare ribs or duck salad. The side dishes complimented beautifully and the deserts didn't disappoint either. Another delightful meal out served by attentive staff and cooked by the dedicated chef behind the scenes. Please put it on your "list to visit" and sample the delights that Sue, Tayfur and the team have to share with you, more importantly keep your eyes and ears open for the next evening deal to be advertised then reserve your table early so as not to be disappointed.

i have visited lilly,s cafe many times in the past few years and still love it,my latest visit in august 13,its recently had a revamp with a new toilet fitted and the cafe re-decorated.lillys is good value and the quality of the food is excellent.a pot of tea for one is £1.30 sometimes this is a small pot but usually its a big pot,you can get 4 or 5 cups out of it,the meals that i love and will reccomend are,the all day breakfast, and the sausage egg and chips.on both of these meals they use finest quality masham sausages and they are split in halve which helps cook them but they also look better served that way.the bacon on the breakfast is thick and tasty, you also get baked beans, poached egg, tomato, mushroom and toast for £4.95 thats good value.each time im in town i try to visit.keep up the good work lillys! roger clarke harrogate august 2013

A warm welcome greeted our party of four for our Saturday evening BBQ style 3 course meal. The service and the food was as usual SUPERB. Hosted by Sue & Tayfur Yilmaz we were in safe hands and the menu did not disappoint. The Chicken Liver pate (which features on their daily menu) is a must try but then equally so is the prawn & lobster cocktail. The mains were sumptious, generous and fabulous to indulge in and there was still room to partake in the three choices from the delicious dessert menu with the lemon cheesecake and ginger base coming out favourite but then again the strawberries and salted shortbread was very close behind. All in all the verdict on the evening was first class, the whole event had a continental flair about it, ther service was excellent, the food heavenly and I just want Sue & Tayfur to experiment with more evenings like this. In the meantime myself and the family will have to make do with daytime visits sampling the fine fayre that is so well produced by this gem of a place.

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!
