Light of India in Kensington and Chelsea

We just had the best Indian cuisine that we have ever eaten. We are from California and have never experienced such flavors! The service was excellent! Maruf and his staff made sure we had the best experience! We had the lamb, chicken and a few starters - all amazing! We will be back on our next trip to London - thanks Maruf and the staff at Light of India. Thanks again to the staff for making us feel like family!

Nice, nothing special, perfect for a crew dinner.

The food was amazing, especially the garlic Naan. The waiter (Ruhel) was great and very nice, however I can't really rate the atmosphere as I came to eat at 16:00. Would come again.

We had an excellent experience at Light of India. Our waiter, Ruhel, was attentive and made some suggestions based on what I was ordering my teens who were a bit tentative and new to Indian Cuisine. We really enjoyed the butter chicken, tikka masala and mango chicken.

Staff very attentive. Beautifully laid out. Food was exceptional. The peshwari nann amazing. I haven't had chicken biryani for years but this was absolutely delicious. My friends and I were even talking about our meals the next day at breakfast. Wish you were local to us. Thank you for such a pleasant evening.

Wir besuchen seit 8 Jahren regelmäßig das Ibis Styles Hotel in der Gloucester Road und besuchen an mindestens einem Abend dieses Indische Restaurant , weil man dort sehr gepflegt sitzt, die Bedienung sehr professionell ist und eine authentische unverfälschte Indische Küche geboten wird. die Preise für Speisen und Getränke sind für Londoner Verhältnisse sehr gastfreundlich kalkuliert. Den " freiwilligen " Aufschlag von 12.5. % für die Bedienung lassen wir immer streichen und geben je nach Zufriedenheit einen Tip in Bar an die Bedienung und dieses mal auch an die überaus freundliche und aufmerksame Empfangsdame.

The best Indian food we’ve had. Wonderful meal, great wine, great service. They were graceful and forgiving as we closed down the place until 11pm. Maruf was the MAN!

Nice decor / atmosphere. Initially very friendly, ordered only starters, turrned frosty. Don't expect friendly service if you order just an appetizer each, rushing for a West End show, or just not hungry enough for mains, even if a hotel guest. Once they found out we were residents (15% discount), friendly again. Not good. Maruf (waiter) was particularly guilty of this. Seemed to take that personally. No tip for him. Superb food. Can't overstate how good this is. I've probably had better Indian meals but I can't remember when. Genius for a chef.

Absolutely loved our experience at the Light of India! We were on a family trip to London from the US and one of our tour guides recommended the Light of India restaurant. Ruhel, our waiter suggested the tasting menu for us and we're really happy we went with his advice. It consisted of quite a few dishes and every single one of them was absolutely delicious! We've been to our share of Indian restaurants in the US, but we've never had such an amazing meal. We would highly recommend this restaurant!

If I could give zero stars I would! Where do I start we booked a table for a family meal to be made wait 20 mins on arrival because it wasn’t ready yet to then be told we had to pay upfront because there 6 was adults and 4 kids dining which I’ve never heard before!! Food was below average really poor food most of it was left on table then once we was done tried to ask us for more money shocking place AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

So booked a family get together here tonight for 12 of us we sat down orderd our food guys comes up to us and says you have to pay up front to what we were very confused we thought he was just being very awkward as we were all very hungry we paid fir the food over £300 that was very expensive the food came and it was very very average and some of the food was not eatable so I understand why they want money upfront it’s because the food is terrible, wouldn’t recommend at all staff very rude

The food was very good, both the starters and the main courses. The waiter (Rohel) was very accommodating and suggested different courses to share, which was very welcome and an excellent choice. Definitely a good place for a nice Indian dinner.

Service was horrendous and servings were tiny for a full dish equal to a side. The price is way too much for such little. We waited more than 30 minutes just to be brought out bill. This was after a 30 min wait for water and a 30 minute wait for water

On our trip to London, upon arrival from from US we’re quite hungry. We noticed a nice Indian restaurant and stepped inside. Each table had beautiful roses as a centerpiece and entire room was elegant and cozy. Our server, Maruf, was quite attentive to us and each guest. We chose chili naan, okra meal and lamb vindaloo & saffron rice. All were quite scrumptious. Our bar drinks were excellent. We were too tired for dessert but server brought us some individual sized treats that were amazing! Thanks for delicious kickoff to our trip.

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Light of India yesterday. The service was impeccable and the recommendations from our waiter Fahim were all spot-on. The Sauvignon blanc from Maharashtra was the unexpected star of the show. Easy to see why the restaurant has been around so long.

Very colourful and bright restaurant. Extremely good service and food here. It's probably the best Indian food I have ever had.

We were just looking for something to eat, and we passed by this wonderful restaurant. It was very bright and had the menu just played it on the outside, so we could look at what we wanted to eat. The food was amazing as we had a chicken, tiki masala, lamb chops, and samosas. He recommended this the delicious chip dish which I have no idea what the name of it is but it was good. The Mango boat dessert was so good. Mango and coconut go so well together and the mango lassi that my sister had was very very tasty and fresh. Our waiter, Ruhel, was very nice and attentive to our needs and very friendly. 10 out of 10 I definitely recommend.

This desert was so good. Usually, I am not the biggest coconut fan but this just blew deserts out of this world. The lamb chops (not pictured) were also delicious, and garlic naan phenomenal. Ruhel, our waiter, was amazing at explaining and recommending delicious and new deserts. At the end, we received generous chocolates and other small sweets that were delicious. 10/10 loved it so much!!

We only came into town for one day, and this restaurant across the street was perfect. We had no reservation, but they were able to fit us in. Fahim was attentive and helpful, and our table was cleared of finished dishes immediately. Beautiful decor and warm environment.

The Light of India - more likely the light of London. Fantastic restaurant from start to finish. I had the taste menu and everything was a culinary de"light". Cocktails and mocktails were excellent. The dessert was the piece de resistance. Poached pear on a yoghurt and honey base with cinnamon. It melts in your mouth. Thank you!!

Only go here if you want the most spectacular meal and service. Maruf and all staff were attentive, and welcoming. The flavours were nothing short of incredible, and the presentation is superb. London: you have no idea how lucky you are.

Hameed, our waiter, was lovely and gave personalised recommendations when asked; the food which he recommended ( a chicken biriyani and a lamb nihari ) were both delicious, particularly the lamb. Both were very affordbly priced. Am absolutely panning on eating here again.

Really great food, but the service really made the difference for us… Our waiter, Fahim, was a joy to be around. So kind and enthusiastic, yet managing to be extremely efficient ! We’ll definitely come back (and book a table with him!).
