Amazing would highly recommend. We literally popped in out of pot luck to see if we could get a table and the lovely lady managed to fit us in. All holiday I was craving some fresh fish food and they didn't disappoint one bit. The staff are friendly the view is beautiful and the food was great.

We've been coming here for over twenty years and seen ups and downs in that time. Right now it's the best it's ever been, and we had a lovely meal this evening. The seafood is the best in Bude (now that Sea Fever is gone - sorry!). The halibut was great and the sheep's cheese croquettes with smoked aubergine was an outstandingly imaginative and well executed dish. As a vegetarian I was ecstatic about not having to have a veggie burger or pasta yet again. Both girls serving us were friendly, efficient and accommodating. The chefs were working really hard, without yelling at waiting staff! While we were having our smart dinner inside, there were families with young children having a more casual time in the adjoining eating area without bothering anyone. It worked very well and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We'll be back.

The New Zealand breakfast was fantastic. Sat outside in the sun overlooking the beach. What more could you want? Service was super fast.

One of the rudest managers I have ever met. I called to order take away and then they said just come up and order. When I came up they told me I couldn’t order yet because there is nothing between 11:50-12. So then I wanted to use the restroom while waiting and they said it’s only for customers which I was trying to be. The man berated me as rude in front of the entire set of customers. He didn’t like my accent or my gender I guess I questioning why he didn’t tell me that they weren’t open yet when I called. Then as I was walking down to the beach the man yelled to the other vendor that I wasn’t even trying to order from, but rather to just walk by, to not let me order anything. Toxic masculinity at is finest.

Food was basic, felt a little run down. Ordering system felt a bit weird and “macdonalds like”. Disappointed as this was a recommendation and as it stands wouldn’t recommend. Staff nice enough

The food was incredible but the service was dreadful! The restaurant was half empty and we were asked at the door if we had booked, we had not booked so we were told to go outside, fair enough! I then ordered the food £130 but I have heard that the quality is worth it! I then asked for a jug of water and was given a 5 pint carling jug and asked to fill up my own jug. (there were several full jugs on the side 🤷‍♂️) we then went outside which was dirty and had to help ourselves to the dirty cutlery on the side. The food was served and it looked amazing, I asked if I could get another drink but was told I had to go to the bar and pay as we were sat outside! I had just paid £130 surely we were going to pay for 2 drinks…… We had our food which was delicious but we wont be going back as the service was shocking! The several empty tables inside stayed empty and I know why! The chefs worked extremely hard to make a great dish but they were let down by the waitress staff and service!

Extended family dined here just before closing at 16:00. Very good service. Quality food. Sticky chicken wings a big hit. Granddaughter most impressed with finger bowls, a new experience

Good food at a reasonable price for a very busy sea side cafe with beautiful views. Sat outside self-order area had cheese & bacon bits topped chips were very tasty & could have fed 2 at least 😋 You get what you see very convenient for Summerleaze beach goers.

What a restaurant!! Idyllic location, chilled vibes, friendly staff who work well together and the manager (or owner) who was on tonight could not do enough for all the diners. The food though is five stars of deliciousness and coming here to dine has been the perfect ending to our week on holiday. My large crevettes was a plate of heaven, with ample prawns, big wedges of bread and the chilli garlic butter they were served in was to die for. My kids had some tasty flame grilled beef burgers, my wife had a huge piece of beer battered fish and there meals were served with some gorgeous and thick chips. I tried a bit of my mum's Korean BBQ ribs and the flavours were popping, just like they had been slow cooked on a BBQ. We were all full after our meals but managed to squeeze in a dessert each, and my chocolate delice was my second trip of the night to cloud nine! For flavoursome amazing food which is reasonably priced, look no further than L.A.B! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Nice view of the tide coming in. Food was delivered quickly but disappointing having starters and mains together. Fish was average, chips disappointing and curry sauce had a weird taste

Staff grumpy. Told us my toddler couldn’t teeth on a pepper pot, then kept giving her evils. She is 2 ffs. Hot dog was grim and atmosphere terrible caused by staff who acted put upon & cross. Needs a change of management or something as it was fine last year.

Literally the only place that makes you leave your table to order at the front gate. Whilst you've left your table, other guests come in and take your table whilst you're gone. Caused unneeded arguments with other guests. It would be much easier for solo guests if the waiting staff came and took your order.

Stopped for an early dinner with the family, it's in a prime location and the prices reflect that. Food was ok but not amazing, I was later advised by someone to go in the evening as the food is better.

Very good quality breakfast for 10 family members. All food arrived at the same time. Very impressive.

Had a lovely lunch in the sunshine here. Front of house showed us to our table, admittedly he ran off before I could even ask a question but it was quite busy. I’m gluten & dairy free and they made the prawns in a garlic & chilli oil instead of garlic butter and it was superb! I couldn’t eat the roll as it has soya in so they swapped for chips, which were amazing… although I think they forgot these and I had to ask for them again after eating half my prawns! However, they came really fast after that! Great atmosphere & location just above the beach. Would definitely return!

I came here to drink and eat with my mother and daughter after a long walk, and we haven’t had water or drink for long today as we wanted to drink and eat at the beach, I was so disappointed with the behaviour of the man at the gate, at the entrance of the restaurant an abrupt man did not listen to me when I was asking if I can buy a water here. he was just shouting he will show me the table to sit, and I was asking him if I can get a water beforehand as my mother was thirsty and she has a high blood pressure so I was panic I needed some water at the first place but the guy with sunglasses shouted at me and asked me to stop at the entrance, he was very rude, he shouted me to stay where I am until he shows us the table, he had no empathy he was not interested what I ask from him, awful rude man! I was going to eat fish and chips but I still had to order the tea and water for my mother as there was no other restaurant near. Awful experience!

Stumbled upon this place, was going to have a snack but once in decided to have lunch, we certainly wasn’t disappointed! Moules were the best I’ve ever had, absolutely delicious, the others in the group had the special, meatball marinara baguette, which they loved! Superb food with wonderful views

I had mistakenly looked up the lunch menu instead of the evening menu online and had my heart set on a fish finger bap. Our waitress was so friendly and said the kitchen would be happy to make it for me. My daughter accidently knocked over her drink and again the waitress was so lovely. She cleared the spillage with no fuss and brought her a fresh drink. Thanks so much, lovely place

My wife and I visited here a number of times whilst on holiday great service everytime amazing food. Also great to be able to bring our dogs and look out over the beach.

What a lovely place to enjoy good ( not cheap) food in a great setting watching the world go by on the summerleaze beach

This place is in a fabulous location overlooking the beach and surfers. The weather was kind so we sat outside to make the most of the views. The food we ordered (fish and chips plus moules mariniere) was absolutely 'spot on', complimented by fab house wine. The service was great too...we could have spent far longer just sitting there, chilling and enjoying the view.

I ordered a fried squid salad takeaway. This is the picture of what I see after opening the box. How disappointed. Five pieces of fried squid and salad cost me 11 pounds.🥲The food is not bad but overpriced.

View over the sea is great. The service and atmosphere is very good. Food is nice too.

Unfortunately we are very disappointed. Everything inside was already occupied, so we sat on the terrace, which wasn't a problem for us at all. We wanted to share an appetizer and each have a main course. When we ordered we were then told that no starters were served outside. Why do you do something like that? The dishes are on the menu! There was no such notice anywhere. And I see no difference between serving a dish at one of the window seats inside or stepping outside onto the terrace. We felt like second-class guests. The burger I ordered was OK. My friend forgot the mushy peas. He then got it reimbursed.

Our first visit to Bude and found Life's a Beach after a walk on the beach. We initially were just looking for a drink and then decided on a vegetarian breakfast. It was perfect and with perfectly cooked fried bread which we'd been reminiscing about only days earlier. Great views and such friendly service.

I wanted to go somewhere special for my 50th Birthday celebration and this place certainly met all of my expectations. The food was incredible, we had the Meze along with mussels and we both had a curry for mains. The meze had so many different tastes going on, it was amazing! Both the lamb and the seafood curries were so good, the chef has travelled to India and the curries are authentic, really good! The service was really good, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. You can tell that they really care about making their customers's experience a good one. To top it all off, the view is stunning.

New potatoes straight out of the fridge were way too cold to be in a salad that was not anywhere near as cold. Raw onion in salad to overpower the delicate crab. Looked like it had all been thrown in the bowl. Tiny piece of bread. It was tasty but it could have been so much better with a bit more thought.

On a little holiday and decided to get some lunch at life a beach. Greeted with really friendly staff, the food was beyond delicious and had a really lovely ice coffee, no fault with anything 10/10 and really reasonably priced! Fish and chips was probably best I ever had too!

Second time we've eaten here, great view from the outside terrace of Summerleaze beach, dogs are welcome, service polite, friendly and quick. We ordered the salt and pepper squid that was served with a delicious salad and dressing plus a chili dipping sauce. We also ordered a portion of fries that were piping hot and crispy, enough in the bowl for three people. Recommended.

Such a friendly bunch of people serving who seem to like each other and their customers. The fish and chips were freshly cooked and excellent. I had the chowder on our second visit which was very tasty served with a warm baguette. Highly recommended.

Visited on a windy cold day in the Easter holidays, food was basic but tasty - lots of chips, but the squid was disappointing. Service very friendly and nice coffee. In good weather it has beautiful views from the terrace.

Such a disappointing visit, been coming to LAB, for over 25 years in high season, low season and I have found, like many busy establishments it can be variable, but, where the food or service might miss the mark, the location makes up for much. But, what is unacceptable is belligerent rudeness. I was at the bar and a mature gentlemen in a dry robe over a wetsuit was treated so offensively because he was in a wet suit. The poor chap apologised, but, was given short thrift was sent off the premises in no uncertain terms unable to make his order. I then witnessed the chap (how behaved like a manager) who was taking orders and doing the beer tell the staff in a cocky unpleasant manner that’s how to deal with customers in their wetsuits, he acted as if he was a champion for being so rude to a customer. After witnessing this, I left before I made an order for food.

A lovely little cafe and find whilst on our visit to Bude beach. Amazing, extensive, menu choices. We only popped in for a hot drink and cake but will definitely be back on future visits for a main Meal. The fish and chips options looked incredible!! Lots of fresh fish options and a specials board. Reasonably priced and large protions.

Walked in to be greeted by a pleasant good morning from a waitress who then offered me a table. I ordered a large breakfast which was cooked to perfection, egg, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, hash browns, baked beans, tomatoes and fried bread, who could ask for more. Life's a beach has never been a disappointment, still a pleasure to eat at this great spot.

Don't visit if you are visiting alone. Fairly empty deck area and empty inside. Went in could I just have a seat on the balcony and have a coffee please? Yes go outside get a table number and then come back in to the bar and order. I said I'm alone if I go outside and get a number someone could have sat there whilst I'm ordering. Well we won't know where to bring your coffee? Not busy I'll keep my eye out. No. I must admit I swore for which I apologise but this person has no idea how annoying this rule is for single people . Rant over and will not go again ....not that will worry them . Customer service nil.

Been here twice - once at lunch time and, because the food was so good, second time for an evening meal. The lunch time feel is of a good quality cafe/restaurant, the evening is definitely more ‘Bistro’. Great food and we were well looked after by the team including Mark. The food was freshly prepared by a kitchen that clearly know their business well - Munro tweaks to the menu were accommodated to make the evening more special (thank you) and the choice was good too. Highly recommended.

What a lovely place. Kudos to the manager and staff for making the environment such a pleasant place to eat. So, I had the burger of the day with chips, let's start there, that's a proper burger, extremely tasty, moist and not a dried out thing, salad in the burger was fresh, crunchy and that makes a big difference. Beautifully cooked, came out piping hot and delicious. My partner had the chicken burger, this was a PROPER piece of coated chicken with a delicious coating. The sauce that it's dressed with, according to my partner was "very tasty" and complimented the burger extremely well. Chips with both meals were crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle, no problem there at all. One pint of carling and half a cider worked out in total at 37 quid. Bargain, very good deal, especially with the views you get from the restaurant over the beach etc. You don't think that a burger and chips is gonna be that filling, but honestly, I happily "waddled" out of there like a stuffed duck. Thank you to the manager and staff for a lovely meal and a lovely atmosphere.

Went here for late lunch today for the first time. Lovely place, courteous serving staff and charming surroundings (also beautiful views over the sea). We were seated straight away, ordered and were eating very quickly. We had the burger of the day (homemade burger, bacon and cheese, salad) and also a chicken burger (actual chicken breast, bacon, hot sauce, salad) both with chips. They were AMAZING! They tasted wonderful and were so filling, we couldn't manage our chips (unheard of for me!). We agreed they were 2 of the best burgers we'd ever tasted. Mark the manager was very friendly and professional. The prices weren't horrible either. Thank you L.A.B, we will return! 🌟👍🏼

Second visit here . First time amazing food and service. This time rude waiter and food a bit bland and uninteresting. Old oil made chips taste odd . Made to feel unwelcome.

Lovely breakfast, reasonably priced , only down side was the chipped mug used to serve my tea . My partners Vegan breakfast was lovely too .

Great customer service and a friendly team. Nice locally sourced ingredients for large portions of food. All cooked fresh and to order. Some good local knowledge of fish of the day. Also a bonus that it’s Dog friendly!

Had a delicious Christmas Dinner today. The food was well cooked, vegetables had been freshly cooked for us. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Visited with our baby son, it was our first trip out to a restaurant so we were a little nervous about him crying but the staff reassured us, had a chat and made us feel so welcome.
