Life's a Beach in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Great location, and must be amazing in the Summer. We went for breakfast in the Winter, but it was still nice. Very traditional 'greasy spoon' breakfast, and don't order large unless you're planning something adventurous to work it off afterwards :)

Good food all round very happy, nice place to eat by the beach. Surfers fries are excellent as is the avo on toast. Some staff a little grumpy, but not all and worth a visit.

We enjoyed a lovely brunch/lunch here today. Food was really nice but the table service was top class. We'll visit again next time we're in Bude.

me and my daughter popped in after lunch about 2.30pmish 18th jan 25.. shes 1.5yo so i was carrying her because she was tired from the beach. i take a note of a table number outside and after waiting in a small queue 10 mins i get to order and i am immediately confronted with “i need a table number first” ok i say table number whilst noticing somone sitting down at it now, so im like oh, well can i have another one out there? “no sorry cant help you with that you need to go find a table and then come order” seriously guy?? so me and my heavy toddler go over to the window to look at table numbers and come back to him serving someone else and then the person behind.. when i finally get to order hes just weird. and so i take my drink and child and sit outside on the long bench at not - quite our number because toddlers dont like to sit in one spot. we ordered cheesy chips and it didnt take long. the SAME guy (except he has a baseball hat on now) comes out with the chips and goes PAST us to the spot next to us.where it says the number, about 10 inches from us. then looks about and asks another group if they ordered cheesychips. im like whut. .it was not very busy. i feel like he was trying to make some petty point! i have purple hair and a baby how can he not remember . anyway, i just found it unnecessarily weird and unhelpful. the chips were fine . the picture is my kid sat at the wrong table number.

A fantastic spot for lunch and people watching! Can't wait to visit again in the summer! We enjoyed fish and chips and a couple of beers in the winter sunshine.

Wow! What a find! A coffee with a view is the only way to describe this place. Absolutely beautiful and amazing staff. So glad to come across this gem on our holiday.

Had a great lunch today. The seafood chowder was sublime. Followed by the pan fried brill with samphire and the superb venison curry. We were well looked after by Sandra and Issey. We'll be back soon!

Visited today Sunday 15th with family.Lovely christmassy atmosphere.Good kids menu and great deserts.My daughter had the chicken burger with hot honey and bbq sauce which she said was delicious 😋 and i had the festive wrap which was an entire christmas dinner wrapped in a yorkshire pudding batter wrap! Amazing! Really friendly staff will definitely go back.

It's an absolute gem of a place. Went there a few times during our trip to Bude. Breakfast is very good, quality ingredients, and great prices. We also booked in and had the pleasure of trying their evening menu. I must say the Braised Octopus was one of the best starters I've had. The King Prawn and Monkfish Curry was just as good. Credit due to the chef. Can not wait to visit next November

Having stopped off for drinks at lunchtime and after seeing the amazing plates of food being served decided to go there for dinner ! Luckily they had a table available that evening as we were told normally have to book in advance ! We were not disappointed! It took a long time to choose as there are many specials, panic set in as sold out signs appeared on some dishes !! I opted for the monkfish and tiger prawn curry - out of this world !! Great location , great atmosphere and all the staff are really friendly, informative and offer great customer service . Well worth a visit both day to see the amazing view and at night for dinner!

Six of us went for a friend’s birthday. All agreed food was amazing, staff were friendly and place was clean. I had the bream baked in salt which was a special. It was cooked to perfection. My sister had the beef and said the purée that came with it was amazing. We all had sticky toffee for dessert which was delicious. Would definitely go back!

The food was utterly delicious, beautifully presented! And the staff were so helpful, warm and friendly. We’ll be back very soon!

This lovely evening bistro was lovely. Amazing food, staff obviously enjoy working there as they were engaged with the food and the customer, brilliant service and such a warm , welcoming atmosphere as a line diner I felt very comfortable there The pork belly was delicious 🥰

Having visited almost every eatery in Bude and it’s surrounding areas several times, we finally got to eat at LAB on (a) Saturday night. The four of us are vastly travelled (one being an international performer) and love great food, service and variety…and a chilled out space. The staff were fantastic, and Alex - the head chef - is probably the best thing that could have ever happened to this part of the world. We all agree, his menus and food would grace any restaurant in any town or city we’ve ever been. Outstanding. Thank you and you’re now stuck with us !!

Amazing tucked away place in Bude. Stunning views of the sea and beach, with a good selection of drinks. The only downside was we couldn't eat there as we hadn't booked. We found it by chance and hadn't realised how popular it was as we were only visiting for a couple of days we didn't have time to go back, but we definitely will go again and book a table next time.

We had a birthday party there on Friday evening, food was absolutely delicious, the service was second to none, and the ambience was wonderful. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU ALL DID 😊❤️🥳🎂

Perfect local eatery with delicious food x indoor and outdoor seating with brilliant view of the beach x Partner had bacon cheeseburger and chips and I had vegan burger, chips and mushy peas! x both gorgeous tasting and proper chips! Good coffee too. Was a little more than I thought it would be but you pay for quality and location. Thank you! X

I pop in here for a cuppa quite a bit while waiting for my lad. The service is always fantastic and the staff are lovely and always very helpful. Although I haven't eaten here myself, the food always looks and smells fantastic. Roxy our dog always gets lots of love from them as well, dogs are welcome indoors and out.

Didn't eat, just had a swift one whilst taking in the views. Took a while to be served and the one toilet wasn't the best but seemed a good place, food was flying out and people were always waiting come in

Chose here for the last night of our holiday having had a delicious lunch The dressed crab salad was simple, elegant and delicious. Tonight we had the vindaloo mutton absolutely delicious powerful flavour not over shadowed by too much heat And the blade of beef was so tasty and moorish only feedback as a northerner need a bigger gravy jug Thanks guys

Ideal location looking over Bude beach. Friendly helpful staff. We returned over the 5 days we stopped in Bude . We ate there twice and honestly the best fish and chips and prawns I had on our 2 weeks touring Cornwall. My wife had the curry and have never seen so much chicken in a curry before. All very fresh and freshly prepared. Definitely recommend and will return on any visits in the area.

Very nice place to have something to eat. View of the bay with beach. She mackerel pâté with garnish. He Cornish mussels in cream sauce. Really nicely prepared! Very friendly staff. There is also a terrace with a beautiful view.

We went for breakfast and the food and coffee was lovely so we decided to go back for lunch and the food was brilliant. Some of the best mussels I've had. The staff were lovely and passed and fussed our dog a few times which she loved. Would definitely recommend this place when you are in Bude. Even on a rainy day the views are great.

A great place to sit and look out over Summerleaze beach, or sit inside on a more blustery day. Large car park a short walk away. We had burgers and chips: Mexican chicken and a Moving Mountains vegan burger, both delicious. Friendly attentive service. Coffee is full of character, which isn't always the case with decaf!

Really unexpectedly excellent dining experience. Food was truly delicious and innovative. Service very quick and efficient - all servers very professional polite and friendly. The Morocan Toast starter was exceptional and the crevettes were definitely worth wading through (and there was a lot of them!🦐) And of course the beautiful setting was alone worth a visit. Stunning sunset.

Perfect beach bar overlooking the bay. Amazing views, very relaxed atmosphere, delicious food & very dog friendly outside too. Would highly recommend the mussels and fish & chips. Great spot for watching all the surfers & swimmers at high tide.

Amazing food, service and wine.

Dropped in for a drink, stayed for a couple, felt peckish and had a bowl of cheesy chips between two people. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the LAB.

Excellent from start to finish. Front of house team we attentive friendly and nothing was too much trouble, The food was amazing, and so was the presentation. From beach cafe in the day to a cosy restaurant with a great atmosphere in the evening with stunning views and amazing sunsets. Would highly recommend a visit

Amazing would highly recommend. We literally popped in out of pot luck to see if we could get a table and the lovely lady managed to fit us in. All holiday I was craving some fresh fish food and they didn't disappoint one bit. The staff are friendly the view is beautiful and the food was great.

The food here is amazing. We had take out bacon cheesy chips in the day, which we ate on the beach. It was piping hot, and just what was needed to warm us up after surfing. We went back in the evening. My husband and I shared the fish platter which had a lovely variety of fish, and was so fresh and tasty. The kids shared an adult fish and chips which was huge. The staff were so knowledgeable about the menu and they made us feel so welcome. Just hope we can go back one day.

One of the rudest managers I have ever met. I called to order take away and then they said just come up and order. When I came up they told me I couldn’t order yet because there is nothing between 11:50-12. So then I wanted to use the restroom while waiting and they said it’s only for customers which I was trying to be. The man berated me as rude in front of the entire set of customers. He didn’t like my accent or my gender I guess I questioning why he didn’t tell me that they weren’t open yet when I called. Then as I was walking down to the beach the man yelled to the other vendor that I wasn’t even trying to order from, but rather to just walk by, to not let me order anything. Toxic masculinity at is finest.

The New Zealand breakfast was fantastic. Sat outside in the sun overlooking the beach. What more could you want? Service was super fast.

We've been coming here for over twenty years and seen ups and downs in that time. Right now it's the best it's ever been, and we had a lovely meal this evening. The seafood is the best in Bude (now that Sea Fever is gone - sorry!). The halibut was great and the sheep's cheese croquettes with smoked aubergine was an outstandingly imaginative and well executed dish. As a vegetarian I was ecstatic about not having to have a veggie burger or pasta yet again. Both girls serving us were friendly, efficient and accommodating. The chefs were working really hard, without yelling at waiting staff! While we were having our smart dinner inside, there were families with young children having a more casual time in the adjoining eating area without bothering anyone. It worked very well and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We'll be back.

Food was was dreadful had burger and chips, bun was dry burger was fresh meat like 2 chunks of rock.

Food was basic, felt a little run down. Ordering system felt a bit weird and “macdonalds like”. Disappointed as this was a recommendation and as it stands wouldn’t recommend. Staff nice enough

There was a problem at the place, hope it wasn't me wearing my 1975 Amity island hat from Jaw's 🤔

The food was incredible but the service was dreadful! The restaurant was half empty and we were asked at the door if we had booked, we had not booked so we were told to go outside, fair enough! I then ordered the food £130 but I have heard that the quality is worth it! I then asked for a jug of water and was given a 5 pint carling jug and asked to fill up my own jug. (there were several full jugs on the side 🤷‍♂️) we then went outside which was dirty and had to help ourselves to the dirty cutlery on the side. The food was served and it looked amazing, I asked if I could get another drink but was told I had to go to the bar and pay as we were sat outside! I had just paid £130 surely we were going to pay for 2 drinks…… We had our food which was delicious but we wont be going back as the service was shocking! The several empty tables inside stayed empty and I know why! The chefs worked extremely hard to make a great dish but they were let down by the waitress staff and service!

Extended family dined here just before closing at 16:00. Very good service. Quality food. Sticky chicken wings a big hit. Granddaughter most impressed with finger bowls, a new experience

Good food at a reasonable price for a very busy sea side cafe with beautiful views. Sat outside self-order area had cheese & bacon bits topped chips were very tasty & could have fed 2 at least 😋 You get what you see very convenient for Summerleaze beach goers.

What a restaurant!! Idyllic location, chilled vibes, friendly staff who work well together and the manager (or owner) who was on tonight could not do enough for all the diners. The food though is five stars of deliciousness and coming here to dine has been the perfect ending to our week on holiday. My large crevettes was a plate of heaven, with ample prawns, big wedges of bread and the chilli garlic butter they were served in was to die for. My kids had some tasty flame grilled beef burgers, my wife had a huge piece of beer battered fish and there meals were served with some gorgeous and thick chips. I tried a bit of my mum's Korean BBQ ribs and the flavours were popping, just like they had been slow cooked on a BBQ. We were all full after our meals but managed to squeeze in a dessert each, and my chocolate delice was my second trip of the night to cloud nine! For flavoursome amazing food which is reasonably priced, look no further than L.A.B! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Nice view of the tide coming in. Food was delivered quickly but disappointing having starters and mains together. Fish was average, chips disappointing and curry sauce had a weird taste

Staff grumpy. Told us my toddler couldn’t teeth on a pepper pot, then kept giving her evils. She is 2 ffs. Hot dog was grim and atmosphere terrible caused by staff who acted put upon & cross. Needs a change of management or something as it was fine last year.

Literally the only place that makes you leave your table to order at the front gate. Whilst you've left your table, other guests come in and take your table whilst you're gone. Caused unneeded arguments with other guests. It would be much easier for solo guests if the waiting staff came and took your order.

Stopped for an early dinner with the family, it's in a prime location and the prices reflect that. Food was ok but not amazing, I was later advised by someone to go in the evening as the food is better.

Very good quality breakfast for 10 family members. All food arrived at the same time. Very impressive.

Really delicious food, and despite being busy, the staff went out of their way to fit our large group in. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a lovely lunch in the sunshine here. Front of house showed us to our table, admittedly he ran off before I could even ask a question but it was quite busy. I’m gluten & dairy free and they made the prawns in a garlic & chilli oil instead of garlic butter and it was superb! I couldn’t eat the roll as it has soya in so they swapped for chips, which were amazing… although I think they forgot these and I had to ask for them again after eating half my prawns! However, they came really fast after that! Great atmosphere & location just above the beach. Would definitely return!

I came here to drink and eat with my mother and daughter after a long walk, and we haven’t had water or drink for long today as we wanted to drink and eat at the beach, I was so disappointed with the behaviour of the man at the gate, at the entrance of the restaurant an abrupt man did not listen to me when I was asking if I can buy a water here. he was just shouting he will show me the table to sit, and I was asking him if I can get a water beforehand as my mother was thirsty and she has a high blood pressure so I was panic I needed some water at the first place but the guy with sunglasses shouted at me and asked me to stop at the entrance, he was very rude, he shouted me to stay where I am until he shows us the table, he had no empathy he was not interested what I ask from him, awful rude man! I was going to eat fish and chips but I still had to order the tea and water for my mother as there was no other restaurant near. Awful experience!

Stumbled upon this place, was going to have a snack but once in decided to have lunch, we certainly wasn’t disappointed! Moules were the best I’ve ever had, absolutely delicious, the others in the group had the special, meatball marinara baguette, which they loved! Superb food with wonderful views

I had mistakenly looked up the lunch menu instead of the evening menu online and had my heart set on a fish finger bap. Our waitress was so friendly and said the kitchen would be happy to make it for me. My daughter accidently knocked over her drink and again the waitress was so lovely. She cleared the spillage with no fuss and brought her a fresh drink. Thanks so much, lovely place

My wife and I visited here a number of times whilst on holiday great service everytime amazing food. Also great to be able to bring our dogs and look out over the beach.

This place is in a fabulous location overlooking the beach and surfers. The weather was kind so we sat outside to make the most of the views. The food we ordered (fish and chips plus moules mariniere) was absolutely 'spot on', complimented by fab house wine. The service was great too...we could have spent far longer just sitting there, chilling and enjoying the view.

I ordered a fried squid salad takeaway. This is the picture of what I see after opening the box. How disappointed. Five pieces of fried squid and salad cost me 11 pounds.🥲The food is not bad but overpriced.

Great bistro by night serving amazing fish dishes. If you’re not a fish lover don’t word they have other beautiful dishes to choose from. We would highly recommend a visit.

Unfortunately we are very disappointed. Everything inside was already occupied, so we sat on the terrace, which wasn't a problem for us at all. We wanted to share an appetizer and each have a main course. When we ordered we were then told that no starters were served outside. Why do you do something like that? The dishes are on the menu! There was no such notice anywhere. And I see no difference between serving a dish at one of the window seats inside or stepping outside onto the terrace. We felt like second-class guests. The burger I ordered was OK. My friend forgot the mushy peas. He then got it reimbursed.

Our first visit to Bude and found Life's a Beach after a walk on the beach. We initially were just looking for a drink and then decided on a vegetarian breakfast. It was perfect and with perfectly cooked fried bread which we'd been reminiscing about only days earlier. Great views and such friendly service.

I wanted to go somewhere special for my 50th Birthday celebration and this place certainly met all of my expectations. The food was incredible, we had the Meze along with mussels and we both had a curry for mains. The meze had so many different tastes going on, it was amazing! Both the lamb and the seafood curries were so good, the chef has travelled to India and the curries are authentic, really good! The service was really good, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. You can tell that they really care about making their customers's experience a good one. To top it all off, the view is stunning.

New potatoes straight out of the fridge were way too cold to be in a salad that was not anywhere near as cold. Raw onion in salad to overpower the delicate crab. Looked like it had all been thrown in the bowl. Tiny piece of bread. It was tasty but it could have been so much better with a bit more thought.

Cracking place but does get very busy,lovely view of the beach to sit and watch the world go by
