Love the Cafe, the staff were great but the food wasn’t worth the price. A full breakfast is £11 and really quite small with sausages cut down the middle(easier to cook but they lose flavour) bacon that appeared pre cooked (crisp but also dry suggesting cooked through earlier then reheated to order) a lump of raw tomato which was fairly tasteless and felt warm but not cooked (if tomatoes are great & full of flavour fine, but when watery & poor quality they need to be cooked thoroughly to reduce water content & increase flavour) some warmed up beans which were fine and a fried egg which was slightly over. Also came with toast. £11 isn’t a lot these days for a full English & I would happily pay a couple of pounds more for better quality produce cooked with more skill. This breakfast just seemed to be relatively poor quality produce warmed up to order,

We visited on a mid-week lunchtime, which was very busy with bookings and walk-ins. The array of homemade cakes and sweet treats was excellent and all of the staff were very personable and accommodating. The only downside would be the portion size of the main meals is a little on the small side, given the price point (for example, it would have been good to see a side salad to accompany the oatcake given it costs the best part of £10).

I’ve read quite a lot of the reviews on Libby’s and there are frequent comments that it’s a lovely little cafe and, generally speaking, I wouldn't disagree. I’ve visited for lunch a few times now, with different friends, and tried various things on the menu, including the tuna salad bowl and different quiches and salad, as well as the lattes, and I’ve never really had any complaints with the quality of the food (although my friend’s lunch on this last visit wasn’t the best - see below). However, I’ve always felt that portion sizes are on the small side and that view was reinforced when I visited two days ago. A friend and I met for lunch here and I ordered a crustless cheese and olive quiche with salad which was extremely tasty. Although the slice of quiche was not overly large, it was okay but, disappointingly, there was just a measly bit of salad with the quiche, not much more than a salad garnish really, and not good value at £9.50 (I did give feedback to staff at the time). My friend had the bacon, brie and cranberry panini which she quite enjoyed, although the bacon was extremely fatty and she had to tear large pieces of fat away (I wouldn’t have been able to eat it either). With drinks (a couple of lattes for me and a decaf tea for my friend) the bill was £32 which isn’t to be sniffed at, particularly when you’re still feeling a bit peckish! Although there’s decent on-road parking, which is always a bonus, it won’t be enough to encourage me to return.

Took our Mum out for afternoon tea. Five of us and it was excellent. Too much to eat so took some cakes home in a box they provided. Delicious little bread rolls with lovely toppings, cheese scones with cream cheese and chutney, blueberry scones with clotted cream and jam, and a lovely selection of little cakes, all washed down with excellent pots of tea. Very friendly staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

We used to love going to Libbys for many reasons. Libby was always so welcoming as were the staff and her food was magnificent, salads were amazing. A nice warm cosy environment for a catch up with friends. Wow how different it is now. No warm welcome and literally had to sit right by the door which was constantly left open as people were coming in to purchase cakes to take away. We asked to move and was told no as all tables were taken. Throughout our time two tables further down remained empty and to add insult to injury a walk in came in and got seated at one! The food was very limited and uninspiring, gone are the delicious fresh salads that Libby did. Will never return.

Never fail for a lovely experience. Me and my mum visited for the lovely homemade cakes. The variety is huge and all of them generously sized and absolutely divine (super scrummy and fresh). This has been my mum’s favourite for a long time and I can certainly see why. We visited for my birthday so we went ‘all out’ and ordered a huge range of cakes and scones (they had 3 choices of flavours for scones- including blueberry! And had the choice of butter or clotted cream). We hadn’t booked but thankfully they managed to squeeze us in however I would recommend booking as they have seating both inside and out where the decor is equally as adorable but they do get quite busy. Being for my birthday I ordered a glass of Prosecco to go alongside a hot chocolate with cream and we sat and enjoyed the weather outside on the garden area. My mum has a little dog so it’s ideal for her. (They’re dog friendly! ) The waitress was super happy to recommend some options and showed us the specials. My mum started chatting to the waitress (as always) who was SUPER friendly and accommodating. I can really see why this is her favourite place. It’s absolutely adorable. The decor is super cute, the cakes are spot on and nothing to compare to anything similar in the area. It’s a calm, friendly environment, perfectly tucked away and perfect for a relaxing visit with family and friends.

We were rather taken aback when a staff member came over to our table at 4.40pm and attempted to take our cups. We pointed out that we hadn't finished; my friends full cup of tea should have been a giveaway! The waitress then waved her hand towards the door and said "we're closed", I queried that we thought they were open until 5, at which point she informed us that they were, but they needed to clear-up! Surely if you are open until 5, you are open until 5, not 4.40!??

Libby's isn't haute cuisine, but what you are served is prepared, served and presented with style and aplomb. How the bistro style menu items look and taste so good, having been prepared in an open kitchen the size of a telephone kiosk is baffling, but it was tasty, plentiful and the menu has something for everyone. To call Libby's a cafe seems rather discourteous as it has a vibrancy and ambience that belies its humble size. The staff are a delight and nothing appears to faze them. You may wish to reserve a table in advance, and preferably in the rear room, which is slightly more sedate, but nevertheless it's certainly worth visiting. Give it a go, it does everything right, you'll love it.

I visited Libby's with my sister to treat her to an Afternoon Tea for her birthday. We were both impressed with the food and the friendly service by all of the staff. I had already confirmed weeks prior that I need GF food and I can't recommend Libby's enough as the Afternoon Tea was delicious. I often find GF food can be dry and tasteless, but definitely not here! My sister and I don't actually drink tea and I should have mentioned this prior to our visit as the wonderful gentlemen that served us automatically began serving us tea, but that wasn't an issue as this was quickly replaced with two black coffees. The staff here are all friendly and kept asking if everything was okay including Libby herself. A special mention to the fantastic guy that did serve us as he was absolutely brilliant, down to earth and had a laugh with my sister and I. That's great customer service as it's nice to see that they generally do engage with their customers, something that at other places can seem forced and not sincere. I didn't get the gentlemen's name, my error, but I'm sure he'll remember my sister and I. Please go and visit this place as you won't be disappointed!

4 of us visited Libbys today for lunch and I was so glad we did!! I had seen Libbys after driving past after recently moving to Chesterfield and decided to bring my boyfriend, granny and great aunty who was visiting our new home. I am so happy somewhere so good is around 10 minutes from my house! I was stuck for choice as everything sounded so good on the menu and on the specials board. I had a chicken and bacon melt which was fantastic! It came with a homemade pasta salad, coleslaw and a dressed balsamic salad. Everyone else said their food was equally delicious, including the jacket potato. We then all had the freshly baked double chocolate cake which was lovely and very sweet! The tea was made from fresh leaves and of good quality. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home, one of the ladies asked if we would like to swap tables when a bigger table in the front of the tearooms became free, we didnt book- i will next time though after seeing how busy it gets! :)I loved my visit to Libbys and will be back soon! It did not disappoint nice and busy friendly staff. Good interesting menu with good portion sizes. Seemed to be a lot of regulars in. For me the only downside but nothing to do with the cafe itself was having to pay for parking on a Sunday afternoon in a provincial. It was quite expensive for parking and I hope it does not hurt the businesses.

My group meet at Libbys regularily and on this particular occasion I have to say I had the best tuna sandwich in the world. The salad was inventive and fabulous too. I cannot fault the place.

This review will probably upset some people as this is a popular establishment with a good reputation but this is what I experienced. On entering on my own I went to sit down and was told in an abrupt manner I had to sit somewhere else as the occupant had gone to the shop. No coat or bag on the table so I didn't know. I was meeting a friend there. So I sat at another table. The waitress came up behind me and threw 2 menus on clipboards on the table so hard it made me jump. I ordered eggs Benedict and asked for the eggs to be hard. They weren't so I asked for it to be changed. When the waitress told the kitchen staff and said in a loud voice ' apparently she asked for hard eggs'. I challenge d this and did say I did not apparently ask I did ask. The eggs Benedict I did eventually get was reasonably good. Such a shame that the staff let this visit down. I have been here before and it was ok. Probably won't go again.

Booked in for afternoon tea with my mum as a treat. Needed to book for afternoon tea but would recommend booking for lunch as it was really busy. Service was brilliant and friendly. They had already asked if any allergies etc when booking. Gorgeously presented afternoon tea, the little sandwiches were perfect size and on open cobs rather than finger sandwiches for a lovely change. A savoury cheese scone with cream cheese and chutney along with a blackberry scone with damson jam and cream, both freshly cooked and delicious. Only managed to eat a few of the sweet treats but they were more than happy to package up doggy bags for us to take home. Will definitely be returning here soon

I visited Libby's with my daughter for afternoon tea. The food was lovely, plenty of choice of fillings on the small bread cobs. We had a cheese scone and a blackberry scone each and these were fresh and tasty. We had to take home some of the cake choices because we were just too full. I would recommend this cafe. It was very busy but the service was very efficient.

Libby's is well worth the short drive, or long stroll out of the town centre. With only a handful or so of tables, the tearoom is a lovely balance of being vibrant and yet relaxed, thanks to charming decor and the warm and welcoming staff. The food menu is ever changing, with the latest options neatly adorning the walls on multiple chalkboards. Sure there will always be something to suit everyone. We went for the sandwich and soup combo, and the *excellent* roasted vegetable and cheddar Derbyshire Oatcake. As the portions were quite modest, they kindly left room for the famous scones and cakes. All the food was well made and very enjoyable. This is a good spot for a quaint afternoon tea, in one of Chesterfield's coziest tearooms.

Lovely little place to eat and shop for unusual gifts. The staff are lovely, food a delight. Will definitely go again! Had a really tasty sandwich and glass of very reasonably priced pinot grigio, better value than other places only a few yards away, in my opinion. Menu is varied and the cakes are incredible. Don't hesitate, it really is good

Had a really nice light lunch here. The staff were amazing and so incredibly helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We like the fact that you can see the food being prepared, and how clean the food preparation area was. Great range of food and the Toffee apple scones are to die for. Well worth a visit

Libby's is a lovely cafe in Chesterfield run by some very lovely ladies who bake wonderful treats! I would strongly recommend all of the baked goodies on the counter or one of their delicious homemade scones! If you are in chesterfield I would recommend you stop here as they sell a variety of foods and based on their baked treats i don't think you will be disappointed whatever you decide to order.

This is still great. I love their potatoes stuffed with salads on the side. This particular visit - the potato was tiny - it would've been nice to have had either extra salad or another half. (Last time I went, they were also tiny, but they compensated by giving 3 halves of potato . Rightly so, in my opinion).Coffee tasted different this time - i couldnt drink it all. I raved about the coffee last time. Maybe it was me - or have they changed the coffee?Took my mother in law to try the scones. She had almond and something else in it (cant remember what) but it was to die for!I will go back - but if they serve me such a tiny potato again, I will have to say something to them.

Very good breakfast and exceptionally friendly staff. Our stay was cut short by the effect of the floods. We had planned to have our evening meal here on the strength of the breakfast.

Foods decent but I feel they try to cram too many people in for food when the kitchen can't cope. They said there's gonna be a slight delay but we were waiting for the mains for nearly 2 hours.

For the second time we were approached by the waitress who said 3 times that this is not available so we left for the second time! I know that place is up for sale but really!!!!!!!

Because we were just having coffee we were put to the right side of the cafe near the toilets and not in the main area. The coffee was cold, the sugar was in a pot which is a no no they need to use sachets as I didn’t want sugar that other people had put their spoons in. Wouldn’t go back again
