Libby's in Stockport

the food was ok , they certainly need to up there game with the competition on town street , have esten a libbys for years but haven’t esten there for 12 months after a disappointing experience unfortunately it hasn’t improved , the service was very poor it was very quiet in the restaurant we didn’t get asked if we were ok for drinks or if we would like a dessert the staff were polite but jyst not attentive , recieved the bill which included 10percent tip , never done this before but we didn’t pay the tip , i think the tip should be discretionary and u fortunately due to mediocre food and poor customer service we could not justify the tip , sorry libbys

Very busy, service a little slow. Staff were very pleasant. We were there for Mother's Day afternoon tea. Disappointed that our tea was served in tatty badly cracked and chipped teapots with very tired looking teacups. Time to spend some money on new crockery!

We booked for an early evening on a Friday. It was pleasantly busy, but not noisy. We hadn't realised that it was tapas-style but were guided to choose a few dishes. We probably selected too many dishes! But everything was very tasty

We didn't enjoy this at all. We had 2 veggie breakfasts - small portions, including only one egg, aside from huge chunks of toast (asked for brown but given white), some items warm at best, lacked flavour/ seasoning. Scrambled egg had a weird grey colour. At £12.95 each, very poor value. Others had avocado and poached eggs on toast - ok, but again the toast was so thick that it was tough to eat. £57 in total for 4 people with tea/coffee - way overpriced for the quality and we won't be returning.

Nice restaurant and nice staff but some dishes disappointing. The house salad was a bit limp and the salad leaves rather sour tasting so didn’t enjoy . Goats cheese is on a few dishes but no alternative offered of feta (don’t like goats cheese ) The fried cauliflower wasn’t quite right or the pasta with peas rather poor but some dishes were very nice . I liked the chicken wings and the pizza . I would go again but hope the restaurant takes on board our comments ?!

We ate on a Saturday lunchtime. The brunch menu was good , the kitchen staff working well to meet the large number of orders (our table was near the pass so got to watch them work). The service however felt a little slow and inattentive. The food was worth the wait.

The food here is really nice. Tapas designed dishes all really tasty. However we were not informed that our table had to be returned with an hour and a half and with still 15 mins to go we were told TWICE to leave! It really ruined the end of the meal.

Not a good experience - tried to order but were advised at least 6 of the main savoury items were unavailable. One diner with nut and sesame allergy ordered and explained the allergies. Another diner was given the ordered cake and coffee but it was another 20mins before somebody came to the table to say there was too much chance of cross contamination for the ordered toastie. This should be made clear on their menu - advising they don’t cater for people with allergies. We then waited another 15 mins for the 3rd diner to receive their toastie, which was missing an element. Poor customer service ( though not taking away from the waiting staff - this is down to poor management) and expensive fare.

Visited Libbys today with my husband, for lunch and we were warmly welcomed by Nic the new owner. The food and service was excellent, we will definately be back and can highly recommend.

Was my first visit today to libbys after I’ve been recommended by a few people - safe to say I won’t be returning again. Was really busy when we arrived but went really quiet within the first 10 minutes to no excuse for the poor, slow service, I was handed my drink with a big black hair in the glass🤮we told the waitress about this and asked for a fresh one to which this appeared to be a chore as I was left with an eye roll. I ordered a steak sandwich to which the bread was literally wet through with grease resulting in me not eating it, my friends eggs royale was full of egg shell as well. When asking for the bill the lady who worked there was incredibly rude to my friend - not one person came to check during the meal if the food was ok, after we paid the waitress (same one who was rude to my friend) said was it okay and we said well no not really, stated the points above and we got a response of ‘well I find it hard to believe as that hasn’t happened before’ absolute shambles of a cafe won’t be returning.

Great service from attentive, welcoming staff, a great atmosphere, amazing menu and food. Fantastic night out with friends!

1. Was the food delicious? Yes 2. Was the service good? No. They were rushed off their feet so took ages to come take our order. The drinks arrived after the food and were wrong. I am coeliac and they said the sausage had gluten in, so I asked if it could be replaced with something else for the full cook. At first they said no, then they said yes. But when my food came there was an oily space where a sausage clearly had been and then they'd remembered I couldn't have it and taken it off. Not great in terms of cross contamination. I wiped it off with a napkin, and didn't bother chasing up for something else as it had been such a shambles so far I thought there's no point. I would say if it was quiet maybe you'd get better service, but we came here before for just drinks when it was, and they got my mums order wrong. 3. Was there a nice atmosphere? Yes 4. Did it have a beautiful decor? Yes 5. Was it worth the price? No

Libbys used to be our go-to cafe after a run with friends - but no more. Over the last few months the service, food and overall value has been steadily getting worse. The staff used to be so good, so attentive but not any longer. One or two of the staff are still good, but the others regularly get orders wrong, miss out the basics and you have to repeatedly ask for things. No one seems to be in charge. The menu has changed for the worse and prices have gone up. They also seem to be cutting corners with the meals and also forget things like not toasting bread ??. So, they've lost our business and I know other locals are equally disappointed. A real real shame and I just hope the new owners take notice and get things back to what they were.

Disappointed with the granola that was described as homemade and listed as having walnuts, hazelnuts, coconut, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and Greek yogurt and berries. There were no identifiable nuts or seeds (in their natural form) and instead it was very similar to eg bio-me granola and mostly grains/puffed grains. Trying to keep carbs/sugar low as pre-diabetic so disappointing. We are only occasional visitors and the Coffee and menu didn’t seem as good as last year. I told the staff so hopefully either the granola will be more like it was last year or more accurately described on the menu.

We come to Libby' s a lot, and with good reason. We've never had bad food or bad service from here. Whether you take away, eat in, or if the weather's good enough out back above the river, it's always great.The atmosphere of the place is very low key, and welcoming, staff are always fantastic. Food wise, the breakfast is always consistently very good. The evening meals are also very, very good. In addition to the main menu offering, in the morning and around lunch the pie, quiche and cake selection must be the best around. I really mean it, the cakes and pies are next level, and should be experienced at least once.

I visit Libby’s most weeks,I’m never wowed by the service but the food is delicious. Today I called for lunch to take away. I ordered a £6 plain ham sandwich for my child, steak sandwich for my husband, a warm vermicelli salad for me and some cakes, totalling £26. My salad didn’t come with cutlery I assumed it had been forgotten, I asked if I could have some cutlery so I could eat it. The waitress returned to say they didn’t have any. She was so unhelpful and her attitude was that it was tough! She offered no alternatives. 1. You shouldn’t be selling warm salads to take away if you have no cutlery. 2. She could’ve offered me a seat at a table outside or 3. Could’ve offered a fork and asked I return it. It wasn’t just that she was unhelpful, she was really rude, rolling her eyes. The chippy next door kindly let me have a wooden fork, safe to say I will return to them. It’s a shame I can’t say the same for Libby’s!

Just moved to Marple Bridge went here tonight for Dinner & absolutely loved it !! Food outside on a heated terrace COVID safe & completely gorgeous food served hot to our our table overlooking the river! When it got cooler blankets where supplied but we didn’t need them ! Had our Friday lockdown treat from Libby’s this week and what a great choice it turned out to be Superb restaurant standard food still hot and we couldn’t recommend highly enoughGood sized small portions and all that we had were equally as good as the others Beef cheeks pork belly and the mackerel were the standout dishes

My husband and I have just had a takeaway from Libby’s which has thankfully just restarted it’s evening delivery. It has always been one of our favourite restaurants and it says something that as a small plate restaurant in the evening we’ve never even had a bad dish never mind a bad meal and we’ve been A LOT!! The food is of the highest quality both when you are able to dine in and is just as good as a takeaway. The food was delivered on time and made a boring lockdown evening so much better. The staff are always so lovely and we can’t wait to get back! Don’t miss it in the day either, great cakes, lunches and coffee. Not enough superlatives to describe Libby’s. Its the best!!

On a snowy cold January morning, what a treat to see the counter of deliciousness which is Libby's breakfast pastries. Bought two croissants, chocolate & plain, couldn't resist an apricot danish and a vanilla slice which were saved for later in the day.
