Worse tapas ever been too. Food was raw, mushrooms wasnt cooked, steak was like jelly & everything was tasteless! We went for a date night & was in & out in 30 mins was absolutely gutted to be honest. Tabels was really sticky too. Staff was lovely but that's about it, although I told them about the food and just said oh sorry didn't take the raw dishes off the bill. Will NOT be recommending or returning. The chefs was only about 18 so clearly no experience in cooking.

It had sticky tables raw food that wasn’t done that well at all. The customer service was shocking the manager the one that’s on the chubby side she was gobby and had awful attitude

Wonderful Spanish restaurant in Heaton Moor. A great menu with most of your favourite tapas dishes. The food was really nice and hot when it was served. The staff were lovely. Would recommend.

First ever visit to this small tapas restaurant. Four of us plus Madge reserved a post cinema table. Shared a bottle of wine and several dishes. All very good from calamari, ribs, meatballs, chicken to salad, tortilla, goat cheese balls, patatas bravas and bread. About £75. Toilets up some steep steps. Some outdoor seating in front but no use on a typical August bank holiday Sunday.

The food was good and the price was good too. The lunch offers are really good value. 3 tapas for £15

Delicious, great service, lovely restaurant/bar.

What a brilliant night. We went for our wedding anniversary and had a great time. The staff were incredible, especially Ash and another lady with a french plait (didn't catch her name) They made us smile and laugh all evening. Fabulous atmosphere and reasonable pricing.

The restaurant is nice enough and the service was decent considering it was a Friday evening. The food though leaves a lot to be desired. The menu is pretty unimaginative to start with and the dishes themselves are far from memorable. It doesn’t get much more exciting than patatas bravas or morcilla (black pudding). The gambas were far too oily and should be avoided. If you’re after decent tapas, go to San Juan in Chorlton.

Very tasty food, friendly staff

We had another lovely meal and bottle of wine here on Friday. A great choice of tapas, the staff were friendly and helpful (especially Ash, who was very polite), and the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back again.

Wonderful evening on Saturday (24.6.23) Our orders were taken quickly the staff were friendly, efficient and attentive the food was as excellent and we will be going back very very soon 👍

Arrived half hour early by mistake. The welcome I got was like someone had just died. The girls were miserable & curt, no smile nothing! The food was awful. We had 1 of everything. All tasteless, dry & cold. No-one came back to the table to check. If it was alright. Served 3 slices of dry bread & was expected to pay for oil/vinegar. The speed the food came at, didn't taste or look fresh. was horrible! 40 mins after finishing the barely edible food, the table still hadn't been cleared. When we paid the bill, still not asked if the food was ok & no thanks for the custom. Needless to say we won't be back or recommend it. The only member of staff that was personable, was the lady that moved us from the wobbly table & served the drinks.

Service and the staff were great, lovely friendly team. However, the outside area could do with some attention. There was boxes and rubbish stored at the side of the building which wasn’t great to look at and the chefs/ staff smoking at the back door was a bit off putting. The food was really poor in my opinion, lacked in flavours and just not a great standard of tapas which was a real shame as I expected better from the reviews. The wine however, was lovely…so maybe just a drink there next time.

The food was honestly so bad, small portions and came out cold. For the same money you can go to bar San Juan and eat like a king. Don't waste your money here

Disappointing first visit to La Cantina. We asked for table to be cleaned, it was stcky. The chicken+chorizo in red wine was swimming in oil. Waitress started clearing table while we were still eating, and although our food was generally okay, overall it was overpriced for the quality.

Lovely little tapas place, food was delicious although took some time getting the dishes out, my friends had to wait ages while we all ate but otherwise I loved it

We went on Saturday and could only book for 9:15. When we arrived it was clear the staff had a long shift and we had to order quite quickly which was fine as the kitchen was closing. The staff were great and the food tasty as always. The person who brought us most of the food was great and nice to chat to (she had cool piercings) and the rest of the staff were lovely too despite being near to the end of a busy day!

Popped in for lunch after a bit of a sad and stressful morning, having never been before. Mark was most attentive, found out for me what foods were gluten free and was lovely and helpful. The food was amazing and Mark serenaded someone behind us for their birthday and really cheered us up! Bonus points - the neighbourhood cat Barney turned up and made the whole experience 11/10. Thanks so much! Can’t wait to come back again.

We had small plates ( a sort of tapas) the food was lovely but expensive for what you got. The drinks were the same price as Manchester bars. The staff were really nice and friendly.

It’s such a fabulous place. It’s busy and lively but you don’t feel rushed. Really lovely atmosphere, great food, plenty of choice, absolutely wonderful staff. Never had a bad time/meal here . So lucky we have this in The Heatons .

What a lovely gem of a place. Met with a friend for lunch catching up over many dishes of delicious tapas - really authentic flavours and reasonably priced, we ended up re-ordering the calamari and the chorizo in red wine plates as they were incredible. I like my hot drinks extra hot and they made sure my hot chocolates were piping.

Tapas are very small! But well I come from Spain, where tapas in my local area are for free with your drink! Quantity could be a bit more generous for the prices they have! Drinks menu have plenty choices, I like the sangria and the variety of gins that they have!

When I visited la cantina for the First time four ago, I thought it was a fantastic addition to the heaton moor dining scene, it's still but a bit tired - the menu is largely the same, not much creativity on show, and since 4 years ago the service is often a let down - just not attentive and on the ball - definitely an area for improvement. Dropping it down a star - if I could give 3.5, I would. Foods still good.

Such good food. Very welcoming staff. Great caramel churros and super sardines. I would recommend the sangria. Not too sweet - lovely and citrussy/red wine flavours.

The venue was really lovely and I enjoyed being in the restaurant; however, the food was really disappointing and seems hugely expensive for what you get. For instance, the meatballs cost £7 and you only get 4, the ribs also cost £7 and the glaze tasted like a shop-bought bbq sauce and the manchego comes in huge chunks making one question the quality of the product. I would come here again for a drink but I wouldn't recommend spending your money here if you’re looking for good food. Also, a waiter lingered by our table when we moved outside and made a joke about us ‘not running off.’ I don’t think we look like the type to run off after a meal without paying, however it felt like we were being watched in a suspicious way. Bizarre!

We’ve eaten at La Cantina a good few times and while the service can be hit and miss, we absolutely love the food - we wanted to take my father-in-law for his birthday as we know he will love it. He is disabled so we gave the restaurant a call and asked if we could book a table outside as he can’t make it up any stairs. We understand there is no disabled toilet but didn’t anticipate any issues booking a table. La Cantina have said no, they won’t book a table outside as they are first come first serve, and they have no way of booking tables outside or policing that they’re booked. After they said about being unable to police the tables, I asked if they could pop a note on a table to advise it’s reserved but was told that doesn’t work, which is a little unusual because it works at other restaurants and bars in the area. I was surprised and disappointed at this, and given the circumstances of his disability, would have hoped they had a policy in place or could make an exception here, but it was a no. I’m genuinely shocked that in 2022 a restaurant of this calibre can’t cater for disabled guests. We’re not in a position where we can just turn up without a reservation in place and hope for the best - we do need to plan ahead. It’s been a very long time since we’ve been turned away from completely being able to make a reservation due to his disability and unfortunately we won’t be able to visit the restaurant again after this - a real shame. I’ve tried my best to present the story factually without embellishment. I’m disappointed that I’ve felt it necessary to leave a negative review about a local business we have loved to support in the past.

Estupendo! Absolutely beautiful food and a lovely setting especially on a summers day! The only two things for me that let's it down is the lack of Ensaladilla Russa and (maybe a plus for most nowadays) there's no smoking area even outside its not allowed... which I suppose is a good thing, just inconvenient for me wanting to reminisc with a cigarette after Tapas pretending I'm in Spain 🇪🇸 😅 definitely worth a visit! Oh and the staff are Brilliant too 👏🏼

Good restaurant, amazing food. They had places to sit outside and inside. The service was really good and the food came fast. The utilities such as the toilet and just the restaurant in general was clean. Would definitely go back.

Visited on Saturday and standards, both in service and food, have dropped in my opinion. Staff seemed stressed, distracted and not on it. Dishes got forgotten. I’ve lived in Granada, Spain - the epicenter of Tapas culture - and the food at La Cantina reminded me of the stuff I would get down near the university: student stodge with lots of cheap sauce on it. I remember my last visit in 2020 being much better. After speaking to the staff they agreed they needed more support. Clearly no shortage of custom/money as it was rammed so no obvious excuse/reason in my opinion, unless not many clients care so much? 🤔

First time we have been to this place,the Olives weren't special,Bread was too thick,Tomatoe salad had no dressing and there was none on the table,Patatas Bravas wasn't that special either we have ordered another of their house special but was NOT brought to the table,they should use better quality of Olives,better read there should be Olive Oli,some dressings and Alioli.i have lived in SPAIN in the Costa Del Sol Area for a number of years. Also they should sereve Gambas Gabardinas,it would be a popular dish.Anyway i hope you improve.Thank you.

Been going here for years and the last couple of visits have been a little disappointing! You get seated then wait 15 minutes to place a drink order then wait another 10 minutes after your drinks arrive to get your order placed! Which isn't really worth the wait very average Tapas! It used to be really good fresh tasty ingredients! Not it feels not so fresh not so tasty!

We had eaten in the restaurant last January and really enjoyed. So, ordered on line and the order arrived just before the selected time. The food was lovely - so many different tastes - thoroughly recommend. Great how you could add dietary requirements/preferences i.e. no alioli at the end of the order.

Visited for the first time on a Saturday night after booking a table via email. Friendly staff members took our order and showed us to our table. The food really was great and arrived really quickly. Its a little on the expensive side but acceptable when its good quality food. Would of liked a bit more attention from the staff when our drinks were empty and were sat waiting 10 minutes to ask for another, just a slight criticism. Will definately be back.

Been to La Cantina a few times, and I’m my opinion, it’s the best place to eat in Heaton Moor!Went with family yesterday, and there were 5 of us. We shared 15 tapas between us - all delicious and piping hot. The house red wine we had was lovely and smooth, and the service was just the right side of attentive.Covid measures aren’t good - contact tracing on arrival, staff wearing masks.

Been to La Cantina many times now, and we managed to accidentally bookend lockdown with visits there. The most recent one, in August, was a joy. The staff were happy and helpful without being overbearing, the food was, as usual, impeccable and delicious, and we felt safe and content to be there eating delicious food. Can't wait for my next visit!

Been here quite a few times and took advantage of the 50% offer, so glad we did. Everything about this place is fantastic, service,food,presentation and the lovely discount.We had 6 tapas,bread,bottle of wine, beer and the bill was £36,fantastic value for money.Every single tapas dish was brilliant as was the house white.Staff were excellent and very accommodating.Pity that it is closed Monday and Tuesday while this offer is on.

Incredibly rude staff and awful decor ruined a meal for me and my wife after a booking was ignored and we were told we booked a table in a different restaurant (which wasnt true). .

Regular haunt for my wife & I. Food is always excellent, very small venue that doesn't take reservation but a 30 min wait usually gets you a table.

Good tapas - honest, flavoursome food

Visited La Cantina for the first time this evening. Me and friend enjoyed 8 lovely plates from paprika cod to honey chicken and chorizo and from ham and manchego croquettes to battered squid. Followed by caramel churros. Our table was booked for 6pm and we were informed we had to be done by 7:30pm, an efficient but not too fast service ensured we had plenty of time to order and enjoy our food. Excellent service and felt at ease in regards to social distancing and hygiene. Thank you.

Holiday to Spain was cancelled so we thought we would try this authentic tapas restaurant to have tapas outside with a glass or wine and think of our next holiday. We were not disappointed. Service was quick and friendly and the plates were all very tasty and well presented. We have had tapas many times in Spain including the very best restaurant in Madrid and the quality of this food is excellent. Prices are reasonable and the terrace is very welcoming. To be recommended.

You can't book here so prepared to go 'next door' for a drink, or get there early if you are in a rush. We managed to get a table about 8:30pm - it was the last sitting so was very relaxing. The wine was great, went for a Rose and every tapas dish was so good! We also had churros for pudding which were yummy. The value for money was fantastic. I can't wait to return!

A good range of authentic Tapas with specials on the day. The wine list includes wines that you don't often see outside Spain that go well with food across the menu. The friendly and helpful service team willingly navigate you through the menu and wine choices if you have any questions. Excellent value. Highly recommended.
