I had the hotdog from here. Sadly it wasn’t very good at all. It was cold so sadly ended up in the bin next to the cabin. At £6.50 I would expect a lot better. First and last time for me.

We just happened in here and so happy we did. The staff was great, food and service excellent and prices great. We sat indoors at a window overlooking the lake. If you do not know about this place, you should give it a try. I got the soup and roll and the other person grilled cheese with a small salad.

Fabulous cafe, with food, drinks, cake and ice cream. Owners and staff are lovely people and made us feel very welcome. Great view of the lake. Will be back to visit next time with our dog Mabel as the cafe is dog friendly too. Enjoyed a cappuccino and lemon cake which was delicious. See you again soon, Rachael and Andy.

Waiting for the next boat to Ambleside, thought we would kill time with 2 coffees in here looking over the lake. No one in cafe so thought we would be served quickly! Not a chance, small lady with dark hair behind look counter talking to a member of staff on other side of counter. Saw us salting at the counter but continued talking and completely ignored us. Waited 6 mins and walked out….would not bother with this cafe again. Far better ones near the marina with much more pleasant staff. 10:50 am on 1/3/22

Came to Bowness for couple nights, lovely little find here on the lake. First day we went had tea cakes and coffee. Delicious and served by a lovely young girl called Sophia. Couldn’t do enough for us. Coffee nice and hot and tea cakes delicious. The next morning we went in for bacon buns and tea. Lots of well done bacon piping hot and again served by Sophia with a lovely welcome. Everyone is very friendly and we felt really looked after. Beautiful view of the lake and you can sit out and watch the boats come and go. Definitely will return next time we come and visit.

When we came off the Blue boat tour of the lake, my wife and I felt hungry, so we went to Lewis's Coffee Shop at The Pier. The ordered a fish and chips and a sausage and chips. We sat at the windows looking our over the lake and the boats traversing it and waited for our meals. After about 20 mins the meals arrived, the fish was huge and the chips were plentiful. Also on each plate was a slice of bread and butter - utter bliss. The meals were fantastic, hot as it was a cold day. As I said earlier, we were hungry and the meals certainly filled a hole. The service from both the waitress and waiter was brilliant. I cannot give this experience a well deserved 100%, simply because the condiments - vinegar, mayonnaise were not at the tables in jars but were in little sachets, I really dislike these sachets. So, on the whole. 99.9% for a score of this fantastic little cafe. The next time we are at Lake Windermere we shall be visiting again.

We popped in for a coffee on a wet Friday afternoon whilst looking around Bowness. The place looks like something from a British sea side resort in the seventies with its outdoor selling counter and its cafeteria. We purchased a green tea, Cappuccino and slice of carrot cake which were all very good. The coffee especially was served very hot not like some establishments who's are luke warm. Although tired and needing some serious updating it's a lovely spot to sit and look over the lake. This place could be a little gold mine if used to its fullest potential.

Pretty ordinary cafe. Service was a bit erratic and quite frankly the chairs looked as if they needed a good clean. Pity better use wasn't made of the wonderful lakeside location.

We popped into the Lewis's Coffee Shop having enjoyed a tour on Windermere on the nearby boat trips. The service was friendly and fast, what we had was reasonably priced too. A lovey location with an interesting history of flooding captured in a picture on the wall. Would recommend this place if you are in the vacinity.

Well priced, unpretentious, good quality eatery. Staff cheery. Only downside this visit was my egg mayo sandwich filling was short of the edge of the slice of bread by a good half inch. Had same a few days earlier but sure it wasn't similar. Will still return on our next visit.

We (2 adults, a 4yr old & 2yr old) needed a quick bite before carrying on with our day. We went to the takeaway hatch and were told straight away that we were welcome to eat inside away from the December weather and would still pay the same price. This was such a relief as it was quite cold and windy outside. There was a spacious eating area and we could watch the pleasure boats come in and go out - kept the children entertained!! We ordered food at the counter and it was then brought to our seats. The food had been cooked to order (we were even offered onions on our burgers at no extra cost) so it was piping hot. We would definitely be happy to eat here again. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Thank you.

After a lovely trip on a lake cruise to celebrate our anniversary my husband and I visited this nearby cafe. It was a little busy but the manager - a small, plump middle-aged woman barely gave us a smile or hello as we entered - she seemed more interested in talking on the phone and flirting with a male customer! I noticed a bit of dirt on a coffee cup and she tutted and got me a new one then went back to talking on the phone. Unnecessarily rude and upsetting.

We stopped for a couple of ice creams and coffees on a Sunday, and I must say, I agree with the previous reviewer! To summarize the visit, the lady serving could do with some customer service training! £18 for 4 coffees and 2 ice creams, with rude manners, I'd avoid going again. To be fair the young chap behind the counter was very nice when I popped back for a bottle of water, so if you do stop by try and get the young chap to serve you!

Called in for a coffee whilst waiting for a boat, had barely had got past the door before an extremely rude female in the cafe barked at us they were not serving (despite a cafe full of people In there) All very well and good but to somebody just walking past the cafe, there were people both at the counter and sat on the tables, door open so no reason to think they were not open for seating. Sign on the door apparently.. checked this on the way out, guess what! no sign! Sale promptly lost due to obnoxious customer service, a strange way to speak to people Being in a popular and busy tourist area is no excuse for rudeness. Would have walked round and purchased from the kiosk but as first impressions had no concept of being customer friendly, a pleasant and polite neighbouring cafe was used

I visited Bowness because my daughter wanted to take her children on a lake cruise. We were unfortunate to choose Lewis's for some ice cream for my grand children. After waiting at the outside kiosk area for about five minutes (we were the only people waiting) I suggested that we were being ignored to my family. Upon which a male assistant who was obviously aware we were there said he would be with us in a moment or so or maybe tomorrow. His attitude was such that I told him that we would find somewhere else to take our custom. My daughter pointed out that his customer care was non existent and he responded with a couldn't care less attitude. This place is in the middle of the Windermere boats area so probably thinks customer care does not matter here today gone tomorrow. This is an area that we come to often. We will never recommend this place.

Stopped by Lewis as we had some time to spare. We were there rather early and was fortunate enough to find one of the two tables by the window overlooking the lake. There are tables outside as well by the Quay where the lake cruises would disembark. It is such a wonderful place to have a cup of tea or coffee and reasonably priced as well compared to high St chains considering the view.I could sit here for hours but that would not be fair for others would it?The five stars for the view, price of drinks and overall friendliness of the staff.

The cafe is in a great location right on the Lake. It was very busy when we arrived but we found a table. We decided to have lunch whilst we were here so we ordered some fish and chips. We didn't wait too long considering it was very busy and there seemed to be only two members of staff present. The service was efficient and friendly. The cafe was clean with toilet facilities available as well as baby high-chairs. The cutlery was clean too. Prices were the usual that little more expensive because of the location but not too expensive. They served ice cream and refreshments from the front hatch for those who didn't wish to sit inside. The view from the cafe was great - so picturesque. I would recommend this place for a quick bite to eat or even a drink if passing but the town centre is only up the hill if you don't mind walking.

Came off the boat in need of coffee and a cake so used this cafe which is right on the pier. Asked for black americano which the staff member did'nt know what I meant. Although various cakes were advertised the actual selection was very limited and all wrapped in clingfilm. The coffee arrived but was milky and then the guy told me I had asked for milk and was almost agressive. My wife and I have not used milk in tea or coffee for 30 years. He did however replace with what I had asked for. To use the toilet facility you have to ask for a key. Its position means this cafe could be a gold mine but would suggest some training for staff.

Lewis's Coffee Shop may be small and simple, but I find it full of character and atmosphere. It is located on Bowness Pier in Windermere, one of the largest natural lakes in England. The coffee shop is just next to the entrance/exit point of the Windermere Lake Cruises and thus offers customers the opportunity to watch people as well as un-obstructive views of the cruises and the lake itself. It serves basic food such as sausages, fish & chips, scones, cakes, ice creams, etc. The food is reasonably good and priced. A delightful place to relax and rest, have a cup of coffee or snack before boarding for the Lake Cruise.
