Been here loads and never an issue. After a nights work I decided to get a takeaway on way home. Didn’t realise they were shutting and when I ordered there was no mention till I was home and couldn’t ring as order wrong. Ordered wings and got given some cold chicken nuggets which were already in cabinet, chips were full of scraps. I would of rather the lady say they were shutting then spend money on cold food and wrong items! Don’t even know how they have ticked wings off when it’s quite clearly nuggets!!!

If bone-dry fish, of dubious species, cemented somewhere in the centre of a bucket-full of rock-hard batter is your thing then, sure, give this place a go. You’ll be particularly happy if you enjoy paying a vastly inflated price for this dire version of fish & chips.

Had deliveries from here a few times , excellent every time ,decent portions and well cooked , nice to see no boxes etc just wrapped in paper how it should be . 10/10

Undercooked pie, stale cold chips, didn’t even look like he could wrap them properly. Gravy was lumpy and jelly like, awful do not go here.

I never leave bad reviews but this deserves it. The chips were awful, stale - clearly not fresh. Horrible taste from bad oil. Ate a few and ended up chucking them away and getting something else.

Dreadful ‘food’ and eye-wateringly expensive. Both the fish and the chips were dry and tasted of little. In fact, they tasted like the were lunchtime’s leftovers reheated which is what I strongly suspect they were. They also missed out my daughter’s gluten-free chips so I had to go back to get these, so the rest of the food was stone-cold and horrid by the time i returned home. For £45 I’d have expected more than reheated leftovers 👎🏻

Our favourite fish and chips in Lewes! and it's our local. We've also had family visit from out of town and they've told us that their fish is some of the best they've ever had from a fish and chip shop. Highly recommended!

One of the worst fish and chip shops I've eating in it's more like a sweet shop with shelves full of chocolate and bags of sweet's hanging down on the counter strange never seen it before a good fish and chip shop should be proud of the fish they serve not chocolate and bags of sweet's 🙄

The greatest fish and chips in Sussex food was a 10 Customer service was excellent Waiting time took about five minutes for fresh fish and chips (perfect portion sizing) Would 100% recommend for people looking for a nice meal for the family

We made a large order to feed our crew who were working nearby but unfortunately, the best feedback we got back was 'well you can't mess up a pea fritter'. The chips, well what can I say? Apparently, you can mess up chips. Dry, cold, overdone, tasteless sticks of what was once a perfectly good potato. To be perfectly honest, most of the order was a calamity. One guy ordered cheesy chips, strangley this option didn't come with cheese, though he was ease the savaloy was suitably heated through albeit not the size he ordered. It is commendable that they managed to get my pie into the oven straight out of the freezer, not sure how they would've coped with a fresh pie though. The pastry was dry on top and still raw on the bottom, the filling was very much like dog food, which quite fittingly is how it ended up. Now then, the fish! Guys, what went wrong? Although the crew members who did have fish said the fish itself was good fish and not dry the batter did not farr as well. Too thick and undercooked is the report I've received. The large chips seemed to be of equal proportion to the medium but the cost was not equal. Whilst on the subject of cost it seems its not only the chips we were overcharged for, we soon discovered on return to our work base that the prices shown on the website for online ordering g are in fact less than what gets charged in the shop. It would be interesting to see if they mare more competent with smaller orders than we made (touching 60 quid) But sadly we will never know as we will not return to this establishment.

We ordered gluten free takeaway. Service was excellent. Asked me if we needed separate cooking oil, and offered onion vinegar instead of malt as malt is not gf. She also rang me back to tell me order was ready. The only complaint it was a bit difficult to park. Food was lovely and best of all, my grandson who has celiac felt able to join in.

Amazing chip shop! Guy was so nice, even brought the chips out to us sat down. Homemade fish cake was incredible! Live in brighton and can honestly say the best chips I’ve ever had, will Definetly be returning thank you so much!

Not really good, they just wrapped it up, not in a fish box, the chips don’t taste good either. Best crispy fish bar is peace-haven.

Just had some great tasting Huss and chips from this place. Really crispy batter, nicely cooked fish and great fresh chips. Well- it was all freshly cooked. Returned again, ordered online for collection. Fish as good as last time, chips probably stood a bit too long. I guess that's the risk you take with ordering ahead

On a day out in Lewes, we came across this fish-and-chip shop, and were delighted to find that it sold gluten-free food. The chef, Amon, was very pleasant and helpful, and explained that the gluten -free orders were cooked in a separate fryer, and were suitable for coeliacs. We ordered two portions of cod and chips, one GF, and one not. Both were delicious- freshly cooked, good-sized portions, light crispy batter, chunky white fish, and piping hot chips. Excellent value, and a great find.

We ate in at a busy time so it was a little cramped but there were 6 of us, so not complaining. Good tasty food Good service too

Very greasy chips and soggy. Burger was not well flavoured, very bland with gristle in. Overall will not go back.

The best fish and chips I’ve had. Nice and crispy and not greasy. A good price too. It was great to be able to pre order and it was ready when I arrived. Excellent service.

Overall pretty alright. Theyve got my order wrong quite a few times but the food that is right is really quite good. The chips are some of the best in the area. It is also a tad bit expensive.

I have ordered two large fish (cod and plaice) and large fried chips, the portions were really large, and the food tasty. Good value for money. I will order food here again.

Great food and consistent quality, Gluten Free available, great value for money. Friendly staff. Its great to order on line and collect with no waiting around. There is public parking near by , but quite busy at times.

Service was standard for the type of place it is. The food was terrible which is unusual for here as usually it’s ok. Most of our food got thrown away

got 'cod' and chips for nearly a tenner. not cod though, it's a thin fillet of white fish like basa cod is one of my favourite fish - thick chunky fillets - not thin won't be going there again don't know how they can get away with passing off vastly inferior thin white fish as cod

The chips are always over done here They used to be okay but I find them dark not crispy more hard, maybe they need to change the oil, the pie had been done in the microwave and the pastry was hard and the saveloys really are not my cup of tea, we only use them because the other fish and chip shop doesn’t open till 5 pm but I will try to avoid to use them in the future. On a good note the fish is nice

Popped into the Fish Bar today with my disabled son for lunch. Portions were very generous and beautifully cooked. Lovely crisp batter, flaky white flesh, and tasty chips. The staff were friendly. Very enjoyable experience.

I believe it's recently changed hands. Unfortunately though the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very overpriced. A medium chips priced at £3.30 per portion. The sausage I ordered was poor quality. With a rusky texture.and cheap meat taste. Strangely also I couldn't taste the vinegar even though I had a generous portion applied by myself.Definitely room for improvement. I doubt I'll go back for a long time.

Best fish and chips you will ever taste

Comfortably the best Chippy in Lewes. It would be better if it opened past 9pm, but whatever time it’s open the fish is cooked to order and the batter is crisp and not too greasy. Oh, and the curry sauce is neither too watery or too gluey. Very fond of this place.

Most of the food was cold. The chips were chewy like cardboard. The curry sauce was stone cold. One of the items was incorrect. Its a shame as I nor9have a good experience here.

The chips were not nice, asked for salt and vinegar and they diddnt put it on. sausages tasted cheap and the batterd sausage was not crispy

the med fish was tiny and the chips were soggy tasting like they had been cooked in oil that should have been changed weeks ago. a rancid experience!!!!

The food was ok, not the best chippy but not the worst. Collection time was quick, menu has more choice then other places. Would order again but not my first choice.

Fantastic store! Go there every week without fail! Wonderful staff. I just wish they’d stock veggie/vegan pies. Other than that, consistently faultless.

The place to go for fish & chips in Lewes used to be South Street... but no longer sadly. Thought I'd give these a try... Good online ordering, decent chips & batter but flavour free fish - both haddock & huss very disappointing.

First impressions count…paid my £9 for a large cod and chips! Chips where great the cod was over cooked dry and chewy and tasteless been sitting under the light for way too long..carry on walking down to south street much option..will not be returning

Excellent food and service . We had large Cod , and it was a very large fish , and large chips . The fish was moist and not surrounded by too much batter. Would definitely have another meal from here again

The plaice I ordered the fish was very watery and batter under cooked and soggy due the fish being so watery

No hash brown in burger and watched guy behind counter just taking cooked food out of heater with bare hands no gloves. Collection was on time but guy serving seemed very angry

Did not receive mushy peas as ordered however chips were lovely!!

Twice I've ordered from here and twice I've had problems.. once a portion of chips wasn't there once we got back and the second time the drink was forgotten. And as it was not myself going to collect it's not been realised whilst they are there picking it up. As a collection service you should make sure everything is there before it goes out

Absolutley lovley Fish and Chips tonight; myself & family have enjoyed the menu on offer many times in the past aswell. Good customer service and 9/10 times a very speedy service. I would suggest phoning through orders for takeaway as you can pop in and it's ready waiting!

I would say, the best F&C in Lewes, freshly cooked chips, fish,,price wise, par for most F&C outlets, great happy to please staff, who are polite and always have a smile on entering the shop.

This is such a great fish n chips outlet. Mega fresh, good quality, warm n friendly folk. Eat in or takeaway. Traditional Fish n Chips and many other options.. sausages, pies, chicken. Love this place.

We have recently visited this place over a friend recommendation. And we have been so much happy as we found an excellent fish'n chips bar with very yummuy food. The service is quite fast and the portions are really really generous.(I couldn't finish off my plate despite that I was peckish! :)) We were also impressed by the attitudes of the staff. Very friendly, respectful and 'professional' We felt like we were home with relatives.Also very clean,neat and cosy. What else is expected from a food place?!! Now we know where to go when we want to eat fish'n chips! It's been our only adress!

Popped in here for a late lunch after walking some of the South Downs Way. The Haddock and chips were among the best I have ever had and I am 70. I can highly recommend.

This is our local fish and chips shop and delivers a really good meal. They usually cook the fish fresh, which can make it a bit slower than others, but the fish is really tasty. Good portions to. The curly fries are a particular teat.

We had medium cod and chips which were quite large portions and sat inside. Not a lot of room for two tables of four for sure but it was ok. Batter in fact was very good, not thick and greasy but quite light and not oily. Fish was very fresh and white.We had 2 cups of tea as well, nice and hot.All in all, very good and not a disappointment unlike the other place in Lewes down at Cliffe

Haddock & Cod both freshly cooked, large portions batter was not as crispy as we would like but did not detract from the enjoyment of a good bit of fish. Reasonable price and there’s a couple of tables for eating in. Cash only, no cards.

over all not bad if you are hungry, the staff are the asset, but the fish is coated in a thin powdered batter rater than traditional and the chips are kept hot for too long
