It was about 20 mins late but it was rush hour traffic. The food was really good and lots of it.

The food quality has sadly declined, particularly the fish and chips, which were once decent but have now lost their appeal. The pricing is quite steep, especially considering the drop in quality, and it's hard to understand why it’s so expensive. It’s disappointing to note that you can find better meals at a lower price elsewhere. Unfortunately, this place might now rank among the less impressive options in East Sussex.

My partner and I have been going to this place for years. With a years gap, maybe more, we revisited last night. We were disgusted. The chips were tasteless and dry, probably from the day before. The fish was barely passable, only one side of the batter was crispy. A third of the fish was over cooked with the end entirely dry and inedible. They would not allow my partner to season it, did not ask how we wanted it seasoned, so no salt and vinegar, none on the counter for customers to use either. When l complained there were EIGHT people standing about chatting, and still we had to wait half an hour for one portion. Such poor service and produce from so many people. Clearly hands have changed and quality is not something that they have any interest in. The previous owners would be sad to see how it's gone down.

Delivery times are extremely long but food is good.

Disgusting food and customer I have a lot to say about this place. First let’s start off with the food! Food was horrible chicken isn’t cooked correctly and some of it was pink, the chips are supposed to be fresh and old school buts far from it clearly cooked in the same oil as the chicken that’s why it’s so golden and gets hard quickly, their menu must’ve been made by a 5 year old as it’s all over the place and their prices are horrible £16 for a chicken wrap, chips and drink 😂 when he said the price I only paid it thinking it must be really nice but it just wasn’t. Now let’s talk about the customer service! First time I went was alright 1 white guy took my order I asked if they did shawarma wrap he said yes but when I got my order it was chicken cubes but part from that he was a decent bloke just doesn’t know anything about food now second time was awful I asked if they did chicken strip wraps they looked me like I was a alien 😂 like right behind them they have chicken strips and they didn’t know what I Ment the Asian guy was nice but then the Chinese lady came over and from the get go I could smell her disgusting attitude from a far like if you are taking someone’s order smile and take the order don’t start rolling your eyes! And can I just say the whole time I’m waiting their there’s a dog lickcing dirt and grease of the floor which pets should not be aloud in a food shop unless they are guide dog. Overall this place is just horrible and no offence to those that think this place is nice but clearly you’ve never ate nice food bc no one in their right mind would think this establishment is worth it.

The chicken tikka was juicy, succulent, well marinated and just perfect. The food was hot, the delivery came early, and the experience was fabulous. Would definitely recommend.

Original time was 5:45 - 6 didn’t turn up until half past, garlic bread was cold, chips where cold, sausage was warmish, other than the burger a bit of a disappointment

Demanded refund refused our order 2.5 hours late after told food was sent out after 25 mins of ordering, but driver tells me they received order 2 hours after we ordered. Ordered at 19:04 delivery turned up after cancelled at 21:35.

If I could 0 star, I would. Food ordered, never showed up. Called the restaurant and they said the order left 5 minutes ago. Absolute lies. Disgusting service. DON’T order from here.

Ordered for delivery at 19:04 was told driver collected at 19:25, told order will be delivered between 19:45 - 20-10, waited til 21:05, called up and told driver just left we told them to Cancel the order. Driver turned up at 21:34 which I had to inform him of the cancellation, which he reply’s the previous customer has also cancelled

Ordered food at 7, it said it was out for delivery at 7.45 it’s now 10 past 9 I rung the shop and they said the driver has just left never ordering from here again

2 hours waited for £50 worth and for it to get here have items missing and be cold.

food turned up cold. we called the restaurant and asked where our food was as we waited 2 HOURS. the first guy was rude on the phone. we were told 5 mins and waited another 30 minutes. absolute joke.

Waste of money, never have I had chicken so dry and chips that tasted like they were a day old and reheated, avoid at all costs. , nasty !!

Delicious beef burger and great kebab,fried chicken

Food is all cold, kids pizza meal the pizza is rock hard. I can’t even bite through it never mind a child. And chicken is still pink in the middle. now can’t reach the restaurant.

We eat from here every Friday and we’re slowly going through there menu, it’s perfect with kids when they just want boring food but we want something a bit more exciting. Their Indian currys are amazing but thought we’d try the new Chinese menu last night, probably the best Chinese I’ve ever had! Didn’t have what I usually order so tried 3 other dishes, all were outstanding and there’s enough leftovers for lunch today 😋 I was in and gone inside of 15 minutes which is not too shabby for a Friday night. 4 large Chinese dishes and 2 chicken burgers for £42 Diner last night was a massive win. Can’t forget the complementary big bottle of coke. Thanks guys, see you next week.

Well I've ordered here a few times ! And always found most staff ok ! But short girl with glasses can be very ignorant and not put your order through ! So you wait and wait and wait for others to be served first before you ask where you order is and if you ask for it to be a certain way ! I.e with separate pitta bread or 2 pots of garlick ! Your most likely to get pitta bread in box with meat and 1 pot of garlic sauce instead of what you order ! Sad to say I asked for my money back last time had enough of being first in and last out there loss but they still will do ok but not having my money no more

I love their juicy burgers, my wife can't get over their Fish and chips. For my next order I will pre-order by phone to reduce waiting time. Cheerful staff.

Tasty, fresh and generous size food portions. Lovely lady who was serving us today (sorry I forgot your name) was very kind and friendly. She made sure our food was well packaged and we got free portion of chips while waiting. We will be back 🙂

So very very sad ! Potentially good food and choice but so slow and hopeless on scheduling food ! Can wait ages for 'fast food' Dedicate 45mins to get your order Perhaps phone in advance. But they really are hopeless.

Been using this takeaway for a long long time, spent hundreds over this time. The quality and standards have been dropping gradually for a year or more. We've had a mouldy Pukka pie delivered and when I rang they replaced it half an hour later but without the chips,so cold chips and a hot pie which I was not going to eat anyway. No offer of a refund. Generally we order Indian food a couple of times a month which used to be better than any local Indian restaurant. Now it's bland and tasteless and usually incomplete. Today, 2 chicken tikkas with unfried onions, no salad and the smallest pot of mint sauce to share. Tasteless veg curry Enough is enough, bye

Delivery time kept getting pushed back so went and collected it. No salad or sauces provided with the kebabs, which had been ordered, so had dry meat and bread.

I have been going to The Best for many years (twice a week!) and they have never let me down. The Fish and Chips is excellent; lovely flaky white fish and crispy batter. The Indian food is also excellent with a great choice to choose from. Now and then i will have a kebab in some form, whether a shish or Doner. All very good. The service I get from the guys is fantastic. Alan from Coney Furlong.

superb food and great delivery

Sorry but this is rubbish. Didn’t want to judge immediately so I bought chicken kebab twice. Guys shut the door and rethink what running a takeway means. The kebab has no any taste and can’t find the word to explain how terrible the chips is. If I want to eat something oily I drink sunflower oil that is cheaper. Seriously, cost of living crisis I know but sack all the lazzy bums and hire some staff who can make the job. Thanks

Just found our new favourite chicken and chip, the man behind the counter was super polite and helpful, and food was great!

Ordered online, 45mins later still no update food was ready, tried phoning couldn’t get through for 20mins. When I got through they said food was ready, drove down had to wait another half hour as it wasn’t. Got home and discovered chips were all missing !

Excellent Fish and chips. Cooked to order, so fresh. Fish crispy outer with white flakes of fish; perfectly cooked I go here every week and the guys have never let me down. I also order an Indian curry every week, which is also excellent. From time to time I have a chicken/lamb shish, again excellent.

My favourite for mixed Donner meat and chips! They also offer a really generous children's portion from the children's menu unlike some I've experienced locally.

First time coming here from Brighton and didn’t disappoint. Lovely owner who gave us chicken whilst we waited. Great food, really reasonable. Would recommend to anyone wanting some good food.

The chicken diner kebab was pretty inedible . Firstly couldn’t find the pitta bread as it was at the bottom . There was so much oily chicken on top that made the bread completely soggy. As for presentation I give it a zero.

Amazing service, staff are extremely friendly and service was quick as well, also whilst i waited for my food they gave me a small bag of chips to eat for free which wasn’t necessary but it was extremely thoughtful, i would highly recommend this place

Food arrived cold not worth the money

food arrived on time but cold, large chips equates to essentially all you can fit in your palm, and the onion ring were limp and lifeless.

Terrible! I’ve seen bad reviews for The Best Fish and Chips but I thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt! If you’re thinking of doing the same, DONT! My kids burger was burnt to a crisp, the wrap for the kebab was stale and all the chips were extra crispy - like the bottom of the barrel type. Never EVER going to order from here again.

Really disappointed with this. Staying at my parents and they have raved about this place - they usually come in to the shop and order. As I treat I ordered food for my parents and myself and two children. The food arrived cold, we seem to have been given all the leftovers of the chips, really brown chips and crunchy ends (no real chips included) both large cods were dry with no flavour. The pizza was rock hard. We couldn’t actually eat any of it. Wouldn’t order again, my parents are livid especially as they had raved about this place so much. £50+ down the drain

Aptly named "the best". Have enjoyed many orders. This is the first time anything has gone wrong with my order and they redelivered for me really quickly and without any fuss! Excellent service always

Ordered online for 20 minute pickup, but when I arrived, most of my items hadn't even been prepared or cooked. So had to wait. Also, the chips are too dry and thin with no substance. The staff are friendly though.

Absolutely terrible I ordered online and waited 1 1/2 hours no food I phoned them up to see where it is and there system had gone down no orders where coming through Baring in mind online you have to pay upfront 3 weeks later still no refund on a £40 order Disgusting treatment from the manager Never again will I order from them

WORST FOOD AND SERVICE ON THE SOUTH COAST. I ordered food via the shops own website at 4pm. More than an hour later the food hadn’t arrived so I called them. I was told by the manager that I shouldn’t expect food on a Saturday and should give it a minimum of 1hr 20 minutes to 1hr 40 minutes. He took a while to find my order then shouted at someone in the background which made me suspicious. If the delivery times were on the website for a 4pm order I’d not have bothered. I asked the manager if he could assure me my food would be hot and he said every order is cooked fresh. I know that’s not true. Anyway surprisingly it arrived just over 5 minutes later. Freezing cold and missing the drink. I called and spoke to the manager. I’ve never been spoken to so badly. I asked for a hot delivery to replace my cold and he refused. I told him that his shop had bad reviews and I could see why. His response’We gave 200 orders a day so I don’t care’. I then asked for my cash back and he said he’d send it with a driver. It’s now 8pm. 4 hours after my order and still no cash. Needless to say I won’t be ordering from here ever again

Ordered a curry and burger and chips , when arrived everything was cold !!! And rice for the curry was missing !! Then had to wait over forty minutes for the replacement of the curry , as it would of been cold by the time the rice arrived !! Rang to complain and asked for a refund as the food was cold ,, but all we got was somebody arguing with us !! Definitely not the best more like the worse , unfortunately we should of checked trip advisor first since most people rate it a one and say how rubbish it is ,, avoid at all costs !!!

Ordered 2 burgers, chips and battered sausage. Burgers nice flavour, sadly all of it was stone cold. Batter on sausage, chewy like it had been hanging around since lunch. Speedy delivery but would rather wait a little longer to have it fresh and hot. Won't return, sorry.

we have tried almost everything, almost. pizza: kids like it. we not much. kebab: a bit too greasy, tastless. away from "best". indian dishes are excellent. naan bread made fresh on site, excellent (but plain naan a bit too sweet, shouldn't be "plain"?) burger: average for Peacehaven. its very busy, nice staff, polite etc. thanks

Gone downhill very sad. I came here 5 times but my last two visit. There keep forgotten to put salt and vinegar. I went home me and my friend said the same thing there no salt and vinegar. I did say yes for salt and vinegar. I had to phone them in the evening and there keep saying sorry but that not good. You are in the business I did ask for salt and vinegar. Twice it has happen I had to run to your shop and put salt and vinegar time I got home food getting cold. You just loss me has your customer.

Chips and kebab all dried out, why would you serve this up, would take it back but your only as good as your last meal so not for me. If you want to give out dried up food then people will not come back. Would look at going to another chip shop or look at the food before your leave.

Really confused about the reviews. Perhaps we were unlucky but it was horrendous. £2 for a tiny pot of sauce - like, a few chips worth tiny. I actually laughed when we took it out the bag. My burger was disgusting just to look at. After trying it, I'm pretty sure it had already been eaten and brought back up before it was sent to us. Onion bahjis were lumps of greasy batter. There may have been some onion in there but who knows - I wasn't about to investigate any further than the first bite. Lastly - I am an English woman who lives by the sea. Chips are a staple of my diet. I didn't even know they could be done badly enough to render them inedible. Now I do. And this is a fish and chip shop. Someone told me their curries are nice. Maybe they should drop the fish and chips part. And burgers. And bahjis. And extortionate pots of sauce. To be fair, it did arrive hot. It wasn't food - but it was hot.
