Best Fish and Chips in Lewes

Ive not long been discharged from hospital after eating a kebab from here which almost killed me as i got salmonella which attacked my blood, my kidneys and heart was also affected. Hopefully they are now following the guidelines from lewes council so no-one else gets severely ill .

Best fish and chips on the planet! Incredible variety and quality of food and lovely service. 10/10 100% recommend!

ordered dopiaza..mix starter...poppadom..and onion bhaji...they delivered mix starter and a poppadom...that's it...rectified dopiaza ...still waiting for onion bhaji ...how do you forget the main dish and onion bhaji?!

chips lovely, fish cake lovely, jumbo sausage lovely, but the total best thing today was the medium cod, cooker perfectly tasted absolutely lovely, and all was hot food. very quick delivery. very polite person delivering. well done best fish and chip take away.

No problem with delivery but chips were cold so a bit disapointing.

I only ever come here at lunchtime nothing had a problem the chips are lovely and the chicken burgers are huge well worth £7.50 for a chicken burger meal

Ordered two Doner Meat, on medium chips and a saveloy, all i can say is the saveloy was ok. The Doner meat was swimming in grease, it had leaked out so the paper was covered in it and then I had to tip what was left in the container in the bin, second container wasn’t much better. I was holding the chips would be better, but it would seem they served up the dregs of the fryer before a fresh batch went in. Last time I go here!

Soggy chips, pizza garlic bread inedible as cooked so much it was rock hard and pizza was more cheese and barely any ham. Most disappointing takeaway I’ve had

food only slightly warm, delivery lady couldn't find me, not her fault though, it's very dark where I live. I will try and put an outside light up. although food was only slightly warm, it all tasted great, thank you.

I fancied a chippy tonight, and you done a great job, where do I start, chips was just how I like them. Fishcake was lovely, The cod was really nice, the whole fish and the batter was so tasty, all the fish got eaten, I am not always keen on fish I like the batter mainly, but I will be having the fish/cod again from you, my cats had some of the cod, they loved it too. Then the lamb donner is tasty too. All in all, a very lovely brilliant take away, thoughrally enjoyed the whole lot. thanks.

I have asked them specifically in the extra comments section on each of my last 3 orders to please not have the pizza ready until the driver is ready to deliver but each and every time I get cold food, its not bad at all just stone cold , tastes and feel like it's been cooked for a while and left around too long before reaching me, if its that sprt of quality it really isn't worth the money, if it came fresh and hot I'd go as far as saying its good enough. I noticed the pizza bags the driver pulls it out of arnt gonna keep anything hot aswel, I do hope they address this soon and at least get some state of the art hot bags like domino's have.

cold food and not cooked properly

The food is very tasty. I ordered the king prawn dhansak, tandoori prawns, mushroom bhaji, plain naan. Definitely recommend these dishes.

Nice food although I got chicken tikka masala and not chicken madras!!! So disappointed!!!

Have bought the best special for years, it used to be loads of lamb and chicken doner, chicken shish, lamb shish and kofta. I used to be able to feed a family of 5 for this charged at £30 now! Last night 2 of my children ate! I had a couple of small bits of lamb doner! Very disappointed! Complete waste of money now! What happened! Did greed take over? Below average quality and no quantity! I wont be coming back! You have lost a customer of more than 15 years! Bye!

Took 2 and a half hours to arrive and freezing cold food!!!!!

Delivery driver was rude and I had to wake my baby and wife up after being up all night and day just because he couldn’t be bothered to exit his vehicle and walk a couple steps!

No ticket number so weird on delivery but overall good service

The fish was bone dry and had clearly been sitting there cooked for some time

Items missing from order, food was not packaged as requested, rang the shop and I was told it is Policy, even though it's never been a problem separating the fish from the chips fgs!

It took nearly 2 hours for a small order - 2 kids meals and a chips and a salad wrap. Unfortunately most of our orders are late - and again, the wrap wasn’t what we ordered.

Delicious curry and Bombay potatoes; very large portions.

Just in the area visiting relatives . Asked for medium portions and seemed to get a lot for my money. Simply put well worth it.

we are taking lamb briani & lamb korma regularly portions are enough taste excellent freshly made. Naan bread is amazing too. always same quality never a mistake made.

Absolutely amazing kebabs! Would have liked more updates on order progress on the just eat app, but the food was great, delivery driver was lovely and delivery time was 50 minutes and within the time stated on the app.

Took 90 minutes to deliver cold inedible food. The majority of it ended up in the bin. This was my first time trying this place and will also be my last. Absolutely disgusting.

Had fish and chips this evening second visit in eight weeks terrible, granddaughter had a kabab earlier in the evening her seemed ok so tried again as first visit just bad and over priced, no change terrible, will not go again save your money

Myself and my partner visited for some late night food and had a great time! The service was quick and friendly, the gentleman behind the counter even gave us some free chips to snack on as we waited (and we only waited a short time). We ordered chips, battered sausage, mushy peas, chicken tikka starter, chicken madras, & pilau rice, & we loved every bit. Would definitely go here again, by far one of the best tasting and budget friendly takeaway options in the area! 🥰

The food's not bad, but now that they're trying to offer everything, the quality of the food has suffered, and waiting times, especially for delivery, are a joke. I waited two hours for cod and chips to be delivered, and when it eventually arrived, it was barely warm. This wasn't the first time. Avoid, there's plenty of other choices. It's a shame, as they used to be a really good fish and chip shop.

Great place to get your family take away, if you want different things! I had fish and chips, hubby had Chinese!

We used this place regularly, almost 3 times a week, however the food has sadly declined over time. The chips are refried, and mainly a portion of small hard bits that seem to come from the bottom of the fryer. The chip shop curry sauce has been replaced by a Chinese sauce that is heavy in salt and five spice. The quality of the meat has declined and everything arrives cold and soggy. Will no longer be ordering from here 😞

Waste of £20. Ordered Lamb Doner and Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong style. My Chinese was hot but not enjoyable. All served in one container with sauce poured over so the rice had gone very stodgy. The chicken was chewy in a stodgy batter. Veg on top was mostly onion and included 2 pieces of pineapple. Left most of the rice. Husbands kebab was nearly cold and very dry. Very disappointing.

Both items of fish were excellent but I have to say the chips were not very good. They were dry, hard and pretty tasteless. Even a good dousing of vinegar y not save them. A real shame because normally they are very good.

The food quality has sadly declined, particularly the fish and chips, which were once decent but have now lost their appeal. The pricing is quite steep, especially considering the drop in quality, and it's hard to understand why it’s so expensive. It’s disappointing to note that you can find better meals at a lower price elsewhere. Unfortunately, this place might now rank among the less impressive options in East Sussex.

got phone call saying no ben a jerrys ice cream I asked for a refund which I haven't got but they said I could have a refund so won't be ordering from them again

My partner and I have been going to this place for years. With a years gap, maybe more, we revisited last night. We were disgusted. The chips were tasteless and dry, probably from the day before. The fish was barely passable, only one side of the batter was crispy. A third of the fish was over cooked with the end entirely dry and inedible. They would not allow my partner to season it, did not ask how we wanted it seasoned, so no salt and vinegar, none on the counter for customers to use either. When l complained there were EIGHT people standing about chatting, and still we had to wait half an hour for one portion. Such poor service and produce from so many people. Clearly hands have changed and quality is not something that they have any interest in. The previous owners would be sad to see how it's gone down.

The chicken tikka was juicy, succulent, well marinated and just perfect. The food was hot, the delivery came early, and the experience was fabulous. Would definitely recommend.

Disgusting food and customer I have a lot to say about this place. First let’s start off with the food! Food was horrible chicken isn’t cooked correctly and some of it was pink, the chips are supposed to be fresh and old school buts far from it clearly cooked in the same oil as the chicken that’s why it’s so golden and gets hard quickly, their menu must’ve been made by a 5 year old as it’s all over the place and their prices are horrible £16 for a chicken wrap, chips and drink 😂 when he said the price I only paid it thinking it must be really nice but it just wasn’t. Now let’s talk about the customer service! First time I went was alright 1 white guy took my order I asked if they did shawarma wrap he said yes but when I got my order it was chicken cubes but part from that he was a decent bloke just doesn’t know anything about food now second time was awful I asked if they did chicken strip wraps they looked me like I was a alien 😂 like right behind them they have chicken strips and they didn’t know what I Ment the Asian guy was nice but then the Chinese lady came over and from the get go I could smell her disgusting attitude from a far like if you are taking someone’s order smile and take the order don’t start rolling your eyes! And can I just say the whole time I’m waiting their there’s a dog lickcing dirt and grease of the floor which pets should not be aloud in a food shop unless they are guide dog. Overall this place is just horrible and no offence to those that think this place is nice but clearly you’ve never ate nice food bc no one in their right mind would think this establishment is worth it.

Delivery times are extremely long but food is good.
