Lovely people that work there and very cheap and quick which is great! but sadly Kids meal was rubbery and seriously salty so I couldn’t give it to my child. The sausage and chips have previously given us food poisoning and the pie only tasted of salt so I had to throw it away, food used to be a lot better but recently haven’t had a good meal from here unfortunately

Friday 15 Dec. Very nice crispy battered cod with excellent fried chips served by friendly staff. Everything quite affordable and I'll be definitely back for more.

They put the fish in with the chips, which means everything ends up soggy. Cod is not particularly flavoursome. Previously, we’ve bought a drink and a vinegar (separate occasions) which have been past their best before dates. Recent hygiene score is only a 3. Will not be using again.

Love it, if you want good food with economic price then this should be your destination. A really good fish and chip shop. Friendly staff and the food were awesome. Very economical price too. Great combo deal / offers which attracts us very much. Though it is located in a remote area but if you try in my opinion, you won't regret it. i will recommend to my friends.

One review said 'they put the cod in with the chips'. Quite honestly I don't know why such people buy fish and chips if that bothers them. The whole idea is that they put the fish in with the bloody chips. This is a good fair priced chippy. Disregard any negative comments.

A wonderful and inexpensive chip shop, food was served hot,very well cooked and quickly. Excellent customer service and staff were very polite. Was very impressed by this fish shop.

Absolutely shocked this fish bar stole £10 I gave the girl a £20 note only realised when I left she didn't give me the extra £10 went back the boss said I counted the till doesn't mean she hadn't put the £10 in her pinny already won't go there again

Fancied fish & chips on the sea front so off we go to get some. What a mistake that was a greasy mess it was fish had a funny taste & chips were just scraps. Seagulls loved them though

Beware if you phone in your order then pay contactless for your food; the prices are significantly higher than shown on their menu web page dated 2022. You won't get a till receipt either unless you ask for it. When asked about prices they joked the web page hadn't been updated for ages, yet the bottom of that page shows "copyright 2022". I paid half as much again as I was expecting, but was hungry, so went along with it. When I got home half the chips were inedible edge of potato hard slithers. I felt generous giving one star, but the fish was nice.

Excellent quality great price and very nice staff

This takeaway restaurant was clean and the young staff was friendly and prepared. I had a fried cod with chips and a soft drink, all came at a good price. Batter was fine, cod tasted good and chips portion was really abundant. Well done Horace, I will come back for sure.

The chips are terrible, a handful of proper chippy chips, if that, the rest is chewy shards of cardboard slivers, an absolute rip off, never again. A big thumbs down.

One particular girl in this chip shop is unnecessarily rude has a real chip on her shoulder no punt intended. Food hit and miss

Brilliant food. But was very rude to me when I questioned why their menu on their website was priced differently to their menu. And jumped straight down my throat in a defensive manner about it. Have used this place for years and did not have a good experience

After watching football, we wanted a chippy supper, before returning to the Premier Inn near by, we drove passed horace's at first being on a side road, but happy we found it, and to be honest we were surprised at how reasonable the price's were, the order was quick, and we took back to the hotel , I ordered large cod medium chips and curry sauce, my grandson had 2x sausage with medium chips ,and for around £11 it was well worth the price, and we both enjoyed what we had, the only slight disappointment was the home made curry sauce, it was a bit too gloopy, and needed a bit more water adding

Cooked well. A fair square meal at a good price.

It would be five but as of yet I have not tried the amazingly price under a fiver cod or haddock. That’s right, less than £5 for fish and chips. Small bag of chips, small they ain’t, just £1. I thought the quality would be poor due to the pricing but it isn’t. As good as Chippie around for chips….more reviews on fish to come, but I have partaken of the chips and the saveloys over the past years when a little inebriated and hungry…it was good then and it’s just as good now. The owner/cook seems pleasant enough and the staff are about as friendly as one can expect these days.

Good value kids meal 4 chicken nuggets , chips fruit shoot drink and a lolly plus a ketchup sachet and only £2.70. There loads of chips in it , plenty for any kid.

Sorry but this was one of the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The chips were brown and full of grease or maybe cooked in very dirty oil? The food seemed old. No thank you.

The the 2 young girls that work in there are extremely rude I think they need to learn some manners, also the chips where so greasy they made me feel sick and the fish cake was burnt also the saviloly tasted like it had been sat there for weeks. No wonder the food is so cheap it's defiantly the worse chippy I have been to, the one on south road is so much better and better quality. Will not be going to horaces again and won't be recomeding it to anyone.

Awful. That was by far the worst fish and chips i've ever tried, ended up in the bin. The food was cooked in old or dirty oil. There was no flavour apart from the old oil. I'll never return.

Clean polite service well cooked fresh fish

Old school prices and value from a really high quality local chip shop. Even when they're quiet the food is always fresh and conversely even when they're busy the service is fast.

Served in a sturdy bag, very well cooked and so welcome after nearly 3 months of being inside I'd recommend Horace's. Small, clean, polite staff, high quality, and not expensive. Loads of chips and regular Cod, and sausage and chips, two canned drinks, 10 quid. Really rather good.

Outstanding fish Haddock was beautiful lovely take away very highly recommended and great chips.

Family and I had a lovely meal from here. Decent prices and decent food, thanks so much

Tucked away and Googke Maps took me round the houses to get there (on foot) but it was worth it. Great fish and chips. I saw a review which said the fish were small portions, but I had a regular cod and it was on the large side. Also couldn't eat all of the chips so good portion size. I liked that they use only papercwrappings - two srmtirdy bags, no polystyrene or plastic so environment friendly.

I've tried alot of fish and chip shops, and this one is very good, the guy who runs it cooks the best chips, and great value for money.

Guys you should go in on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. I have to go every week!! I rarely ordered the food but the pretty blonde girl that works there hardly ever notices when I stare at her and sometimes I even treat myself and get some spring roll because I get to wait there for ages ♥️♥️ All around a fantastic place to visit for the food and the view 😉

Visited here again after a few years and sad to report that the fish portions are still small. I ordered a regular and large cod but ended up with a small and smaller cod. Shame because its fairly good quality.

Haven't been here for a while and we were disappointed that the fish sizes have shrunk. We ordered a large and a medium cod but they were more like a small and smaller. Both were also a little overcooked. Its a real shame because this used to be the best fish and chip shop in the area.

Been here before and then it was nice... not so impressed this time. It just adequate but that is all. Shame

If flat chips that taste like cardboard is your thing this is the place to go . it used to serve really good fish n chips but not anymore . it's as if the owner doesn't care about his business anymore. better chippy s around than this place

Always found this chip shop to be your average chip shop. Nothing special about it. The only plus side is that the food is cheap.

Not the best Chippy at all sometimes the staff are friendly but other times they don't want to know. It's always a miss match on whether the chips will be any good or not whenever I've gone there the food has been below par so I've stopped going there full stop now gave chance after chance to see if it was a one off but it wasn't. I wouldn't recommend going there myself id use Newhaven Fish Bar myself
