On our way to Manchester, we got off the train in Bolton to change. We had a bit of time to kill, so decided to eat. Found one Indian restaurant close to the station, but they were absolutely packed. No chance for a quick bite there. We don't know Bolton at all, so we just walked in the direction of what we expected to be some form of main street. Came across this restaurant and went in. It was completely empty. What a difference from the one across the railway line. Ordered food, but even with an empty restaurant they took their sweet time.Compared to the Indian restaurant I visit in Cambridge each year, this was a disappointment. Sloshy food, quite bland, a forgetable experience. Some questionable electronic cable connections by the window did not up the feeling. We had to go quickly, and left. At least I didn't get sick from eating it.

Good food, good service and good value from Leena as always. We went for the buffet menu at £11.95 per head. The drinks cost £10.95 for a round of 3 (two pints and a Southern Comfort and coke). £57.75 in total for 3 x 3 courses with 2 drinks each. Very Good.

Went here with a few work friends and have to say it's the worst food I've tasted from the many restaurants I've been. When we got there, the waiter assumed we all wanted to go for the buffet option so he brought poppadoms and then started bringing out starters and placed it on our table. He said because it's not busy he will bring food to the table instead of us getting up. I smelt the food and it smelt off like it had been out for days and a few of my friends said the chicken from the starter was so dry it tasted like it has been under the grill for hours, the seekh kebab tasted disgusting, the mains tasted bland and didn't have any flavour to it. We ended up eating poppadoms and chips and then asked for the bill. To our annoyance he charged all 8 of us for the buffet option when only 4 of us chose it so we queried it, the waiter started getting aggressive and said you can't just come here and have chips. Never again are we going to this place again! The place was dead, no atmosphere, area is rubbish and food is just disgusting. Advice for anyone thinking of going here! Don't bother there are far better places to eat!

I've always been impressed by the quality of this restaurant and since the refurbishment they've added a buffet too!During quieter times, like the night of the opening ceremony of the World Cup, poppadoms and the starters are brought to you. There's a mixed selection of starters, onion bhajis, kebabs, chicken chunks & wings are severed on a sizzling hot plate. There is a good selection of curries for the main, all clearly labelled and explained (if needed).Choice of rice and naan included (& even chips if required). The staff are always friendly and professional. A real 'family' feel to the business. Service is attentive. This is all for £10 (I don't know if this changes at peak times).Treat the staff with the same respect and you might be offered a complimentary brandy or Baileys.

My wife and I looking for somewhere to eat about 9:30 on a Saturday night. This was just round the corner. An all you can eat Halal Indian/Tandoori. We started with poppadoms and the usual pickle trays, the pops were warm which was nice. Then the choice of around 20 different items, from bhaji to samosa to korma, tikka masala, and a range of sides. Slightly warmer than traditional I thought but all very tasty never the less. For £10 per head you can't go wrong. Drinks reasonably priced too.The main positive about this place was the staff, friendly, polite, attentive and very welcoming. I do like the touch when they shake your hand and thank you for visiting as they put your coat on for you and open the door for you.Would have been a 4 rating overall, but the staff have pushed it to a 5 for me.

I agree with all the reviews about the good quality and good value you get at Leena. I used to dine here regularly in the past, but hadn't been for a few years. I've now been twice recently and enjoyed both visits. The last time we had the buffet on a very quiet Monday evening before going to the theatre. we were served puppadums and a large platter of mixed starter items, then invited to help ourselves from the buffet. I was pleased to see that the food in the buffet tureens was not in huge quantities, they were cooking fresh to replace dishes that ran out. we went to the theatre happy and well fed. We will be back soon.

And finally the chocate cake was frozen; another customer also complained about the cake and the waiter had a horrible attitude about it. Saying it couldnt have been. I wanted him to try it but he said I didn't need to prove anything because it wasnt frozen. THEY NEVER APPOLOGISED OR OFFERED ANY FORM OF DISCOUNT. Very disappointed. And im not a picky person normally ive eaten in some bad places but never resulted in giving a negative review. THIS IS THE WORST OUT OF ALL....

Really consistent food, prepared for the most part 'live' behind a glass panel. Even the buffet is very acceptable if you are in a hurry, or can't be bothered to select from the menu. Nice staff, chilled Cobra, delicious (comfortingly, reassuringly recognisable) Bangladeshi food. I have been here 4 times in the last 5 weeks on visits to Bolton and have always thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Leena has been a long standing favourite in Bolton for many years, but in the past has sometimes been overlooked because of its location on the busy A666 in Bolton centre. Hearing that our friend Al, who used to run the Bromley Cross Green Bengal in its heyday, had moved to help run The Leena, we lost no time in arranging to pay a visit. What a change from the old Leena! Warm, friendly service, ice cold beer and wine served within a couple of minutes as we pondered the very interesting and extensive menu, we knew we in for a really nice meal. Choosing a mix of excellent starters and meals from their chef's special section, we were delighted with the presentation and full rich flavours of our meals, which were Tikka Masala and South Indian chicken based meals. Mine was one genuinely one the best curries I have ever had. As curry fanatics for many years, we can highly recommend the Leena for its range of genuine Bangladeshi dishes. We ordered from the a la carte menu, but they also do a very extensive and wonderful smelling buffet selection, with many dishes to choose from. The restaurant obviously has a number of regulars who make the trip to Bradshawgate to get exactly the sort of food they want; we'll certainly be joining that lucky band of people who have rediscovered the joys of The Leena! By the way, parking is easy and safe round that area and free after 6.00.Linda and Tony

Found this restaurant just by chance and decided to go in, Saturday night and only another table was occupied so was a bit suspicious however my mind was soon put at rest. The waiter was very attentive and when we ordered meals from the menu rather than have the buffet he came over with free popadoms and dips, our main courses came over on sizzling platters and the food was amazing and plenty of it, I can not understand why the restaurant was empty as the food was delicious and the service excellent, after we had paid our bill we where asked if we wanted brandy or Bailey's on the house, which again I thought was a nice touch. Would highly recommend this Indian restaurant to anyone visiting Bolton

We found this restaurant whilst wandering Bolton town. We were staying at the travelodge round the corner & were looking for a bar menu really but left it a bit late. The board outside said Lena's offered a buffet for £9.95 each so the 3 of us went in.As other mention, it was very very quiet & only 2 other tables were occupied. The restaurant is nicely furbished & clean. Any mess appears to be quickly tidied away.We were greeted & seated quickly, waiter explained we could have buffet or order from the menu. We chose the buffet & our drinks came in minutes. The waiter(possibly the manager) bought us some popadoms & told us to ask when we wanted our mains & he'd bring us fresh rice & naan's. The buffet had a really good choice of food, lots of starters & lots of mains. All was very nicely cooked. I'm quite fussy about Indian food but found plenty of choice of curry's & sides. This is possibly the nicest indian meal i've eaten in a very long time.At the end of the meal we were offered a free brandy or baileys which was nice. The waiters are very attentive and want to make sure you enjoy your meal, which we did.Totally recommend this restaurant, it should really be much busier.

Amazingly this restaurant has been here for around 40 years, but I have not visited for around 20. I was surprised that on a Saturday night there was a buffet on offer though I believe there is also a standard menu.Going for the buffet option, I was pleasantly surprised at the good range of starter type dishes, and also that naans were offered, as I have frequently encountered rice only buffets. Main dishes were all perfectly acceptable. What surprised me was the lack of people in an established centrally located restaurant on a Saturday night in a large town. It is a time of the week I normally avoid when having a curry, but only 2 or 3 tables were occupied, so exactly the opposite of the crowded 'melee' I expected.

There was a good selection of food on the buffet. Poppodums and dips came promptly and could have been replenished if we had wanted. The starters were plentiful.
