Family run fish and chop shop on the seafront with over 10 years of heritage, I had a portion of triple cooked chips were sensational with a the crispiest battered sausage you will ever find! Highly recommend you pay them a visit if you find yourself in south end!

Even if we ate in the evening, the fried food was very good,so not old oil. Very kind waiter and cook.We ate hamburgers, fries, nuggets and salad with grilled chicken breast, all very good.We will definitely be back. Update after some months: we came back we ate fish and chips and still same good standard of service, quality food and cleaning .

We came across this fantastic cafe yesterday. I had small cod and chips, hubby burger and chips. Absolutely delicious and piping hot. Having a small portion of cod was perfect, especially when I saw the size of the normal portion. Food piping hot and service excellent. We would definitely recommend.

Lovely experience, and the food was delicious

Only popped by to get a small chips to eat in the car, but they were insanely good. Chunky chips that tasted triple cooked like you would get from a fancy restaurant; not greasy or soggy and freshly made.

best fish and chips you will ever have! had small cod and chips with a tea, the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was light and crispy. the tea was a proper english tea, perfect with the fish. would highly recommend coming here if you ever come to southend. customer service was lovely, the man was polite and easy-going.

Great café! We were only in Southend for a short time as we came on the Waverley and had to allow time for the train up the pier and back. We took the last available table and the food was served promptly, service with a smile and it was delicious! Definitely recommend!

Don't understand the good reviews. These are not authentic fish and chips, it's the sort that would be served in a school canteen, not what you'd get from a traditional seaside fish and chip shop. The fish didn't have proper batter on it, the chips weren't the proper type cooked from fresh.

Delicious food. Had a bacon and sausage baguette. Also had a Latte, it was nice and hot and tasty lovely. Over visiting from Australia 🇦🇺, it was the best coffee ive had in the UK 🇬🇧 Lovely lady owner 😀 Would highly recommend this cafe.

Was brought in by a young blonde girl who ended being the waitress she was super helpful and kind the owner is very lucky to have a worker like her. The food was spot on and delicious the fish was cooked perfectly and good size portions would definitely recommend coming here with your family

Poor, poor service. Didn’t make any cost clear, and changed prices mid-way. He said kids nuggets and chips came with 6 nuggets, so we ordered 3 of them meals, but we only got given 4 nuggets per meal. However, battered sausage was good, chips were ok.

Hi. Took my grandchildren and family yesterday and as we are Muslims, it was great to find a Halal Fish & chip place. The fish was really fresh and the chips were chunky and not oily. Staff were very friendly and helpful Would highly recommend this chippy.

Located pretty much under Southend Peir this fantastic Cafe has everything you could want the best food, best service and a very welcoming atmosphere. The Grilled Butterfly Chicken was seasoned very well and a different alternative to just sea side fish & chips. Served on a bed of fresh Mediterranean style salad and a generous helping of chips. That created an explosion of taste The staff are always welcoming arrive as customers and leave as friends definitely my first choice along the arches.

Highly recommend this place for food, they have a great menu here! I ordered fish & chips and it was delicious, very nice thin batter amd cooked to perfection. Really nice food. Lovely chips freshly made and piping hot. Fish really good. Ordered 2 x small cod and chips but the fish was not small! Really filling and great tasting. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Overall a great experience and it was nice to sit there after walking to the end of the pier and back, eat good food and watch the various characters go by.

Lovely Resturant very clean, food was amazing and all cooked fresh . we went to the restaurant with all the family & the 5 children after being to adventure island for the day . It was my nephews 6th birthday they brought out the biggest slice of chocolate cake ice cream with candle for him ( we didn’t ask for this ) but what a lovely surprise. The staff are so friendly and make you so welcome . I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back xx ♥️

Delicious! We walked 40 minutes to come here based on the reviews and was not disappointed! We had regular cod & chips which was cooked to order - the size of fish was ample, the batter was 99% perfectly cooked, and the taste was great.

Bloody lovely proper cuppa tea! And the cod & chips is well scrummy. We shall be back to try the Breakfast, the Jacket Spuds, and the Ham-egg-chips very soon!

Had lunch here with my wife. Excellent SMall COd and Chips, and Large haddock & Chips. Really asty fresh fish, great chips, and very friendly and efficent staff at this family run business. Fully reccommend!

Posting this again as it didn’t seem to upload from my other account. This was the best fry up I have had in a long while. Great service, great clean little place, staff were spot on and the food was excellent. Everything was cooked perfect, good quality eggs, and just all round top fry up. My only regret was not adding some fried bread. It was that good I almost went back for the same again at lunch! If you are in Southend, Lena’s is a must for breakfast!

Wow, very clean and tidy. Well presented food. Staff are very welcoming and helpful and always go the extra mile to help. It’s really nice not having someone at the front trying to pursue you to come in. They don’t need to the food is the best! The only place I will eat on the sea front!

After an excellent first visit a few years ago, Lena's is the only place we go to for fish n chips when we visit Southend; and we've never been disappointed. The food is great (fresh, tasty, hot, great portions) and the owner and staff are attentive and helpful. I hardly ever write reviews, but after yet another visit yesterday I felt I really should give them the review they deserve. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thanks, from Morwenna and the boys!

What a cracking little cafe this is. Lovely owner and great food. The batter on the lovely haddock was one of the best I have ever had. Light, crispy and non greasy with a great taste. We'll definitely return!

Best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! Super delicious flaky fresh fish, which wasn’t greasy! Delicious chips and gravy was amazing. Myself and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We come out of adventure island looking for somewhere to have lunch. This is situated opposite the fairground on the main round. Service was quick and efficient, fish and chips was excellent and not over priced.

For those of you that know this area of Southend, you’ll know there’s a lot of restaurants here. So you feel like you’re taking a gamble sitting down at one. Well there’s no gamble here, we sat down as a table of 5 and order a mix of traditional fish and chip shop fare. I have to say it was amazing. The batter was light and perfectly seasoned, the fish was super tasty, the chips were perfect, a crisp outer crunch followed by a tasty fluffy inner. Everything was super clean and reasonably priced. I am very happy to recommend Lena’s Cafe, the staff were also super friendly. Definitely will be revisiting.

Been to many places didn’t really liked fish and chips saw this place though to give it a try manager was so kind and welcoming left his food and served us. Can say it’s the best fish and chips ever tried would highly recommend.
