Clarence Restaurant & Cafe in Southend-on-Sea

My daughter and I have been coming here for years and since the first visit would not go anywhere else now. The food is always good and reasonably priced and weather you have a slice of toast or a roast dinner it is always hot and tasty. The restaurant is always spotlessly clean and the staff are always polite and friendly, I would recommend you to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent service. Piping hot and very tender roast lamb with very crispy roast potatoes and tasty trimings. All this and good value for money too.

Lovely cafe nice staff always welcome but just one thing they to many idiots on their phones when you’re trying to eat apart from that 💯💯

Today I visited Clarence Street cafe, I would of posted the whole of the plate when it arrived but forgot lol but I had scampi and chips, and my partner she had, burger and chips, she's a picky eater but she loved it so much she empty her plate and I had finished mine too, the cafe is a beautiful place to sit and have a lovely meal its always a pleasant experience being here never had any problems and the people and atmosphere is nice 😊 keep up the great work all and thank you from us both for a great meal much appreciated 5 stars from me!.

Had a roast lamb Sunday dinner here today with my son. Good amount of lamb and fresh, well cooked vegetables. Cafe clean, friendly, quick service and good priced food. Good food for less than £10 a meal (not including drinks). Decent coffee too! We will be back :)

If I visit Southend-on-sea, I always come here for breakfast. There are other cafes around but either more pricey or tea or coffee not included with the food. Here, food is great, includes hot drink. Service us quick and friendly.

The lamb roast dinner was absolutely beautiful, the deserts are to die for, we enjoy coming here, very friendly service and make you feel very welcome, very highly recommended

truly awful from the freezer shaped fish and a handful of chips, i wont even mention the liver and bacon, tea was just light brown coloured water.

Popped in for a bit of brunch with my daughter. Very busy, which is usually a good sign! Service was great, food was hot and came quickly and prices are reasonable. Make sure you bring cash with you though as they do not take cards.

Shopping in Southend on Sunday & looked inside here & asked if we could bring our well-behaved spaniel in & was told yes. I had a really nice burger (no bun, which is how I prefer it), egg, chips & beans with a cuppa. My husband had a typical English breakfast. Both meals were served promptly, both were hot & delicious. The price was really competitive & we will definitely visit again

This is my first time to have visited the Restaurant & Cafe My partner had been secretly eating here and never once taken me! On a Sunday morning as it just opened, I was little hesitant due to being the only people in the cafe, however! The English breakfast was really good, Well cooked not greasy and had a lovely coffee as well. I have to say the best cooked breakfast I’ve had in the area in a while and would definitely come back again. Everything cooked perfectly.

Awful cafe, we stopped there today and they charge £8.50 for the mega breakfast and to my surprise doesn't even come with bacon! The sausages were awful and pre cooked garbage. Don't eat here

Called in here with a friend who lives locally. The cafe was clean, and the staff were friendly. We had a very nice roast dinner, which was piping hot and very tasty. My only criticism would be the quality of the Yorkshire pudding, but for value, you cannot beat it. We shall be back.

Having eaten in before and it was we fab we decided to get baguettes as too hot to cook. First time got home and mine was wrong as contained tomato which I can't eat. Decided to try again today but checked it before leaving and again order was wrong as mine contained tomato. Also barely any filling or salad in both orders. Bit disappointed

Really nice food, clearly all fresh cooked. Nice atmosphere and while it's like your standard cafe look the food is really really good. If you're in Southend wander up into the town and go here.

Went here with my partner today and we were taking our time to look through the menu. A young lady was serving us and kept huffing and rolling her eyes when we told her we were still deciding. This same lady then said "I am busy, please go and sit down" when I went up to the counter to ask a question. Unbelievably rude and spiteful.
