Food overall pretty poor quality. Convinced rice wasn’t correct, meant to be pilau but got brown rice that seemed to be like microwaveable packet rice. Ordered ‘chutney and pickles’ and literally just got mango chutney, nothing else.

Food was meant to arrive between 8pm and 8.25pm , it came at 8.50pm It was very hot , but flavour was nice

Ordered through Uber Eats, curries are plain and not much flavour. Couldn't tell any difference between the chicken jalfrezi and chicken dopiaza, which is unheard of from the many curries I've had before. The curries had massive chunks of onion in both. I would look around for another curry restaurant and I won't be ordering from here again.

1 item was missing from my order, pakora was over cooked the chicken was tough and dry and had little flavour.

They delivered to my hotel on time. Despite google reviews, there were excellent. Best chicken tikka I have tried in 13 years . Good value

Today we had the chefs prawn house special. Im afraid we found it rather tasteless. No kick to it what so ever.

A little disappointed selected option for chutneys & dips expecting to get the usual mango chutney, onion salad and other dips , how ever only got mango chutney. There was no option to select what chutneys / dips u wanted hence why thought would get the usual selection.

Arrived hot and within 30 mins of ordering. Great portion size and flavours were bang on. They could give you more than one poppadom though in line with other places. Top notch though.

Dissapointing experience. Food wasn't great, poor portions tough meat, tasted old and reheated. I also ordered from le raj but had to collect from mint leaf? Had me walking around the area looking for le raj when it looks like it doesn't exist.

Chicken tikka and rice were usual high standard but saag aloo was disappointing as it lacked most of it's normal seasoning.

Great food and service. Just wish you didn't deliver in plastic bags.

Ordered via Just Eat. Two hour wait and still no food. Restaurant was rude and unhelpful and refused a refund. Order from here at your peril.

website said 25 - 45 min delivery, when order was confirmed it then said 45 - 75! Took 50 min, will collect next time.

I have had another one yet again , my only dish I would order by choice is a chicken tikka dansak , this place does the best ones , and I don’t mean in the area , I mean in the country, I used to be a travelling salesman and have had this dish from Aberdeen to Abergavenny, from Cumbria to Cornwall , literally many hundreds of them in restaurants all over England and Scotland , and these ones are the best , just superb . I now don’t order this in any other local restaurant if I am eating out , (this place is take away only ) because nothing ever gets close to how good there’s are . Their other dishes are equally good , but always a dansak for me ,

Food was good, but delivered the wrong naan and it was a variety that we didnt like so no naan with our meal

Food was 15min late & still warm but only just so not as enjoyable. Meat is more more tender when hot! And why only 1 small salad for 2 Shashlik dishes?

Awful. !! - Soggy and old onion bhajis. Lukewarm. - Rice old, stodgy and cold. - Papdoms tasted like they’d been deep fried in old and re-used oil. - Chicken Tikka Masala: chicken was super dry, and the sauce separated immediately and was very watery :( also, lukewarm at best. The fact that is was delivered 30min early is not a plus here as that’s maybe the reason the food was inedible, being prepared so poorly and quickly.

When the order was originally placed delivery was due at 7.45, it then changed to 8.10-8.30 and was eventually delivered at 8.45 after my husband phoned the restaurant

I ordered some food for the 1st time and it was awful. Not cooked properly all onions were uncooked + instead of having cheese cubes I had in my food mozzarella cheese melted which doesn’t make any sense I never see in any Indian dish melted cheese. I spoke to the restaurant people and one of them didn’t know how to explain about melted cheese. The manager was rude and says that he is running this restaurant for 10years well good luck for the future LOL!!! I will never ever order from here !!

No idea what the food is like; was an hour late last time, more this time. Never again with a £3 delivery charge. “Lockdown” has lowered the expectation of what customer service is. Not on; one job.

Food was amazing however only downfall would be they should of said collection was at mint leaf restaurant as I circled for about 10 minutes before ringing restaurant for them to state collection was here rather than le raj. Will order again :)

Tasted like a more sweeter korma version. The bread was rather burned. The pilau rice was brown ( first time ever seen that colour on pilau) not even bothered to try. There should be some sort of quality control in the kitchen. First meal from these people and will be last the last one too.

I've tried many Indian takeaway, but this one has just gone to the top of the list. Had the chicken tikka Pathia, absolutely perfect. Spice was on point.... Had a couple deliveries from here now and had zero issues. Highly recommended, will definitely be using again.

The food was cold and late. It tasted ok not great but that was due to not being hot enough. The nan bread was beautiful . This was the first time we had used this Indian and perhaps were unlucky.

Late delivery cold food mediocre flavour is a generous but fair ! Price for on time hot food would have fair!!

First mistake - ordering on NYE. Ordered at 18.45 with a delivery time of 20.00. Food arrived at 21.30. Poppadoms missing and I can only assume that the pakoras had been cooked with a blow torch! The food was passable but not great but by the time it arrived we would have eaten anything! Applied for a partial refund via Just Eat due to the lateness and refused. There are plenty of other restaurants to choose from so Le Raj have lost my loyalty - I will not use again. I understand now busy it is as but the simple rule is only take on the amount of work you can cope with. Don’t be greedy!

Delivery estimate 20:50 arrived 22:40 and needed reheating .

AVOID AT ALL COSTS Ordered at 6.58pm was told delivery time would be 8.20 pm. This changed to 8.50 pm. Then at 9.10 tried to call restaurant and they answered then put the phone down. Tried to get though again and was unable to connect the number. Have reverted the payment thanks for running our New Year’s Eve Not even worth one star

Food was good quality, but one of the items was not as ordered - chicken instead of lamb. Also, there was an extra portion of rice on delivery, possibly to accompany a balti, though this wasn't mentioned on the menu when ordering.

We ordered Butter Chicken which is our favourite and received some sickly sweet Coconut Korma instead, with no explanation and this app doesn’t offer an option to report the order being wrong.

Lovely, only thing was the Bombay aloo was slightly undercooked but the whole meal itself was amazing

Ordered from a few curry places in the area thought I would give them a try for a change and wish I had stuck with my usual place possibly the worse one I have ordered !!!! order came wrong ,rude attitude on the phone when trying to resolve the issue which never got sorted , chicken tikka masala sauce saltiest I’ve ever had ,rice nothing like pilau it was brown and stodgy and other dishes full of Ghee oil it liturally ended up in the bin .never again

£3 for delivery, Food was late, order was wrong, restaurant refused to send correct food and said I had to eat what was delivered even after I explained there was no vegetarian option for me. They said they would just give me extra next time. I called back again and told them I was coming to collect my meal. I got some free bread.

My family and I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant and had an extremely disappointing experience. We have ordered on and off from this restaurant for many years but more recently have decided to go with other restaurants which has better quality food. Our food came without any rice so it was not possible for 2 of the group to eat their meals until the rice had arrived. My mother had to re-ring the restaurant and was told that she did not order the rice even though she had a list and read everything from it. We then had to re-order the rice but rather than them offering it free of charge as there was clearly a miscommunication, they charged for the rice which my mother did not complain about. When the rice arrived it was not pilau rice but boiled rice - please see the attached picture, which quite clearly is not pilau rice. The cost to a restaurant for providing a portion of rice is extremely low so and we have spent £100s if not £1000s here, you would think a business would offer this at no cost. When my mother called to inform them that the rice was not pilau, they told her this was pilau rice. As she is of Indian heritage she is very aware of what pilau rice is. When she complained, she was told that they did not care if they do not have her business anymore, which we feel was terrible customer service after many years of ordering from this restaurant. His exact were "Don't bother from ordering from us anymore, you're complaining go order from another restaurant". You would think that an owner of a restaurant would not be so rude. Our family and friends all order from this restaurant so they have lost a large amount of money. To clarify rudeness was only from the person answering the phone - Mahmood, the delivery driver was actually quite friendly - Abdul. To add, the actual meals were not cooked properly either, the lamb madras over spiced and the meat was extremely tough and chewy. I like to experiment with all the restaurants in Bishop's Stortford and I can say without a doubt that this is one of the worst Indian restaurants in the area with both service and quality of the food. I hope any one who reads this review, heeds my warning and does not waste their time with such a poorly run business. I have never left a review before for any restaurants but our whole evening was ruined and I would not want the same to happen to anyone else. Thanks

I’ve ordered from Le Raj many times, and I’m disappointed that tonight it took over two hours for delivery, was cold and tasted differently to previous orders. I’m not sure I’ll order from there again 😞

Food was not up to par with other indians in town. The lamb korma had very chewy lamb. The chips were full of grease and the chicken Balti wasn't enjoyable. The lamb samosas were okay. The keema nan and korma sauce was okay. In my opinion, not worth ordering

First time ordering from this restaurant and it was an overall good experience. The food was delivered slightly later than the expected delivery time but we were notified by the restaurant and kept updated with the order (restaurant staff polite and spoke in a friendly manner). Delivery driver also very polite and apologetic due to slightly later delivery. The food itself was fantastic and we would definitely recommend.

Great food - not willing to pay £3 for delivery and £20 minimum. Indian cottage and Ashoka are £15 min and no delivery charge so have gone there

The food is always excellent from the Raj. We have been using the Raj for over 10 years and never had a poor meal, ever. We would normally order and collect but in the current environment, opted for the delivery through Just Eat. Delivery was great - earlier than advised and the food was piping hot. Great quality, great service!

Was so craving a curry since lockdown, decided to order tonight....as usual delicious, hot, prompt, also friendly service, thank you for still working through this especially as I have had a very long week due to being a key worker and was so tired I couldn’t be bothered to cook. I have reviewed before and I still give it 10/10.

Best Indian takeaway in the Bishops Stortford area, food was hot and delicious

Food was 45 minutes late then 90% of it was cold and it was a Tuesday night so would like to think how late it would be on a weekend

this is our regular Indian Take away. The food is always good. We tend to go and collect our food as waiting for it to be delivered can be a pain.

We have ordered from many Indian's in Bishops Stortford. The food at Le Raj is the best in Bishops Stortford, and not overpriced like some of the other Indian restaurants.

We've used Le Raj for many years as they didn't take forever to deliver, reasonable prices and lots of chicken. With friends over we ordered from here and were very disappointed. Two wrong orders - the chicken bhuna was labelled correctly but contained chicken rogan so we had two. The pilau rice we paid for was plain. Poor quality - don't expect a big, fluffy nan. Our small garlic ones were hard and chewy. The worse thing was the tarka dahl. I've had thicker soups; it was liquid with a few lentils at the bottom. We poured it over the plain rice. I know they thin it down but this was ridiculous. Make some more! After many years it's time to say goodbye to Le Raj and try somewhere else.

Ordered a takeaway last week. One of our rice dishes was missing from the order. The food was tasty but swimming in far too much ghee.

I felt like treating myself to a takeaway after a nighttime walk, and ordered a Goan Special chicken curry from this small takeaway in the Maltings. A distinctive minty tang and coconut sweetness followed by a pleasant savouriness from the excellent chicken. The boiled basmati rice was fragrant and well cooked. There was something -- possibly a very subtle hint of chilli -- in the sauce which gave it a bit of zest.

Food was cold and arrived late.

Food was lovely however one of the curries was squashed in the bag and some of the curry leaked out into the bag.

1 nan bread missing 1 main dish wrong i ordered chicken nepal but received lamb nepal. Le Raj said they would ONLY refund for missing item. WILL NOT ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN. not particularly impressed with just eat either as they are not able to refund without restaurant authorisation.

This is one of the best Indian Takeaway we have used and must say the food was very good . The food was delivered on time and is good value for money. We will be ordering again.

I have take aways from here all the time, the best chicken tika dansak in this area. Always good food,I have tried pretty much all the indians and this is definitely my favourite.

We have been using Le Raj regularly since they opened many years ago. We have tried many other take away and Indian restaurants but none come close in a 20 mile radius. Great delivery service, allow plenty of time though as cooked fresh and gets very busy. Shame they have no restaurant. You will not be disappointed - Chicken Dansak superb!

I am a creature of habit and for the last 30 years all i ever have is Chicken Tika Dansak, but that has given me the opportunity to taste hundreds, all over the country.and compare one against the other,on a fair scale. I have to say this is the best i have ever had, Great depth of flavour, hot without being too hot, just lovely. My favourite delivery Indian restaurant in the area, and i have tried all the best ones. I only tried this one because a good friend assured me that it was the best and i gave it a go, expecting it to be not as good as my previous favourite,I was wrong Now I wouldn't go elsewhere if you paid me.It is not an eat in restaurant but collection or delivery.

We have used Le Raj for a long time and never had an Issue until last night. After our delivery arrived we were disappointed to find half our starters missing so we called up and after having to absolutely justify ourselves that they had cocked up, they reluctantly sent it over. Then when opening the containers we found 2 chicken tikka dishes...not chicken tikka masala! So we phoned back where the manager told us, after really losing his rag, that "we should have listened more carefully when we were ordering!" 4 professional and highly competent adults in the room and we can't order a takeaway properly? Rude. It gets better. 5 mins later he phoned back only to continue the same argument. The customer service is shocking and we will NEVER use them again. Anyway Zara is much better in Bishops Stortford. Le Raj are basically rude, incompetent, have no people skills and the food is crap. Don't bother.

First time ordered. Had bad experience as the estimated time changed to an hour and 30 minutes from 45minutes once ordered. I called to cancel but the person on the phone was incredibly rude and told me if I had an issue I should take it up with just eat he then hung up. I was quite upset. I then got a call back to say they would deliver quicker but the gm food quality was not great the sag paneer which I always have as a side was quite awful and the two main dishes had been over cooked the meat was tough and dry. Shame as the two Indian takeaways I use to order from have closed so was looking for one I could use regularly. I will unfortunately not be ordering again from here.
