Le Kesh in Oxford

What a lovely meal, great hospitality and great value. We stayed the night in Oxford and needed a place to break our fast in Ramadan and fit in our prayers at the nearby mosque. We called to book and Slim was an excellent host, suggesting we can pre book our meal choices. When we arrived our meal was already ready which was greatly appreciated after fasting the whole day! Slim was attentive, kind and clearly had great rapport with all customers. The food was delicious, every scrap eaten-lamb tagine, meatball tagine, moutabbal, Algerian pastry . When we're in Oxford next we'll like to come back and try more on the menu. Thanks again team!

Visiting Oxford for a couple of nights, my husband discovered this gem whilst searching for places to eat. The food was delicious. We had falafel starter to share and i had the haloumi burger and my husband had the mixed grill. Service was excellent. You can take your own alcohol and they provide the glasses. We were the only people eating which is a shame but lovely decor and surroundings. Definitely recommend 👌

Came here for Mother's day and we were not disappointed. The food was EXCELLENT, the staff was funny, attentive and knowledgeable and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Good music at good volume. Will definitely come back!! (We've ordered La Kesh Fiest which was a a great choice as it allowed us to try various dishes!! YUM!!!) NB: They don't sell alkohol however you are welcome to bring your own bottle with no corkage fee)

Authentic and tasty food served and attentive and friendly staff. Only downside was that it was not clear on the web site that no alcohol was served though you can BYOB. Apart from that b minor issues, all good! Many thanks for a wonderful meal

Best food I've had in a long time when eating out. Not the most flashy places on the street but a hidden gem in terms of its food, authenticity and friendly service. Went there as a group of friends and they catered towards all of our dietary needs and tastes, we all left happy and full. The waiter was funny and attentive, and very welcoming. Definitely somewhere I will be recommending to friends and family, looking forward to my next visit to taste their other dishes on the menu. Their meatball and chicken tagine was incredibly well seasoned and soft, and the mixed mezze was delicious! Each and every dish was seasoned perfectly.

A hidden gem!!!We enjoyed our dinner tonight with my boyfriend and everything was delicious!!!!Very interesting flavors!I discovered a new spice that I will be using on my salads too from now and on, the sumac.Nothing would be the same tho’ without the lovely waiter Slim, who treated us very kindly!Thank you all, guys!

We keep coming back as we have always had a great value meal with friendly service. We really like the meze platters and tagines. And the only place in Oxford I have come across where you can BYO alcohol ☺️ Nice patio out the back too

Thursday night spontaneous choice - the service is excellent - informative, kind and warm. Had a nutty homemade hummus to start - I had a generous, authentic chicken tagine. The server was careful to disclaim that the chicken was cooked in lemon preserve - i thought the flavours were delicate and perfectly balanced. Chicken was succulent and full of flavour. My husband made a bold choice with the Bastilla - a layered sweet and savoury main of chicken and spices encrusted in almond with a dusting of cinnamon and icing sugar - it was filling, authentic, beautifully presented and tasty! With BYOB it was a perfect 'almost-end-of-the-week' treat! Cannot wait to introduce friends and family to this gem on the Cowley Road

We went here for our staff Christmas party last night. Slim and the team looked after us all so well. The party increased in size last minute (which isn't ideal in hospitality) but Slim managed the night perfectly. We had the Kesh Feast sharing plates which was fantastic. Thank you for your patience with us - the best staff party we've had in years.

Lovely restaurant with amazing service and great food. From the moment we walked in, the team were super friendly and welcoming. Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. We were after a halal dinner and this was perfect. Definitely recommend.

What an experience; Le Kesh surpassed all of our expectations for good, authentic food. The host was charming and attentive and made us feel really at home. The food and cocktails, furthermore, were incredible; not only was everything home made, it was delicious. Word to the wise - do not overlook the spinach - it was simply divine.

What an amazing restaurant! We’d been let down by a restaurant further up the road and we popped into Le Kesh on the off-chance and there were 9 of us! Nothing was too much trouble, they went over and above! I can thoroughly recommend the Royal Feast. The food was delicious and the service 5*+! A wonderful experience!!

Not only great food with fantastic, authentic flavors but wonderfully friendly service. All the dishes were lovely (we did a meze selection of starters between 4 of us for our main meal) but special mention to the Zaalouk Dip which was amazing. Highly recommended. Also, BYOB keeps the cost of dinner down. Value overall was outstanding.

I have had the most amazing experience here tonight with my fiancé. We were greeted at the door and given the best service, the best food and the best time. I would 100% recommend!

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we felt as if we were a part of the family, the host was bubbly and keen to advise us on our meal, food was probably the best tagine we've ever eaten, my partner had the lamb and I had the meatball. The lamb fell off the bone and the spices with the meatballs was amazing. My partner says the Moroccan tea was the best she's had. Taking your own drinks is a must if you want alcoholic drinks Will definitely visit next time we visit Oxford

Good ambience in terms of interior lighting, seating and decor an effort has been made to make you feel you are in Lebanese Restaurant. Great staff and a very friendly owner. The food is all cooked from fresh and is really tasty. Highly recommended and will definitely be going back there again.

I used to look like this place every day. I went to them two years ago, meaning a constant customer. The shisha they had was good once, and the food was also good, and the coffee was good. Not wow, and the place is nice and elegant. But I went to them after a year and met the same employee who was receiving the general customers before Abu Nazara from Algeria or Tunisia. I forgot his style😅 Very bad and rude. He set a limit on orders for me, maybe 50 pounds. I don't remember exactly, so that we could leave the place. In return, the rest of the people entered without a minimum order. The treatment was very, very bad and racist, and the level was so low that it was impossible for me to repeat my visit.

An absolute feast! There were 6 of us and we had the Royal feast which was epic and delicious. Very friendly service. No alcohol served so take your own if desired. No corkage and glasses provided.

A hidden gem I think. Kind of wanna keep it hidden but it deserves more recognition😭 I love this place. The garden in the back is my favourite, such a nice vibe. The foods great, service is even better. So friendly all the time. I remember when this place was closed for construction and I almost cried because I couldn’t go for over two weeks hahaha. This is what you call an experience. Starting with the place it self, if you decide to set outside it's so calming and nice atmosphere. The owner or the staff (not sure), he was sooo friendly funny and gentleman and that only makes me want to give 10 stars. The food, OMG, it was one of the best food I have ever had, I have ordered the lamb Tagine for my self and it was unbelievable, so tasty and the meat is so tender. I wish I live in Oxford.

On a brief visit to Oxford we wanted something tasty to eat, Le Kesh did not disappoint. Fantastic friendly welcome, delicious food our only complaint…..we had limited time to eat as we had a ghost tour booked so couldn’t order more food!! Would love to return to this fab restaurant next time we are near Oxford.

Flavour, flavour, flavour, this restaurant is for people who like real North African and Middle Eastern food that is well-prepared. Six of us had different plates and we loved them all.

We love the place and food delicious. We were sitting in the garden and great environment! Fulfilling food and so tasty. Service was lovely and we have a briefly introduction about the restaurant and their fusion. We loved the place ! Highly recommended!

Celebrated our 3 year anniversary here! Lovely little find, wanted to take my moroccan husband somewhere nice, and this place was it! Lovely food, we had calamari and hummus with some bread. Mains meatball tagine and halloumi burger and chips. Dessert knaife with some atay! (Moroccan mint tea) whole experience was lovely and very tasty. Would definitely visit again when we are in Oxford! Only one fault is the garden we sat in, was for shisha.. we both don't smoke and it gives a different atmosphere when you see drinking and smoking around you. Would be nice to have a section without smokers. Other than than the service was good also. Thank you!

Me and my family visited this place last month.the food was okay.Once we finished our meal we asked for the bill then they provided the bill we saw there 10% service charge and 20%VAT on top but no VAT number on the invoice.Then I ask a staff for the VAT number then he said they don't have a VAT number.Please be careful everyone

I usually don't spend time writing reviews but this place deserves one. The food is super delicious, we had le Kesh menu for 4 people and we literally felt home because the guy who served us is super friendly. We even spent time in the garden drinking wine which we didn't purchase from the restaurant because he doesn't sell alcohol but he provided glasses. We definitely will go back.

Easy to book online. Our waitress was very friendly and keen to help. A nice NHS discount as well. The food was lovely - very tasty. We got a mezze to start which had a good portion size for two. I got the lamb, chicken and sausage stew for main which filled me up. It would be nice to have had more meat in it though as it only had a couple of each meat. My brother got the shish which would have been better with a salad or something on the side as the portion size was in contrast quite small. Nicely presented food too. The mocktails were also lovely. Would recommend.

Myself and friends had a great time at Lekesh. We were greeted and given interesting and useful information about the fusion of the two cuisines (Lebanese and Moroccan) and the menu. The restaurant is authentically decorated and has a nice covered outdoor area at the back. We had the mixed feast starter which was excellent and we all enjoyed our main courses - halloumi risotto, vegetable couscous, moussaka and chicken tagine. Reasonably priced and really handy you can take your own alcohol in too. Thanks Lekesh for a great evening - will be back!

We enjoyed our dinner so much that we must write a review. The staff were excellent at explaining the menu and answering specific questions. The food is a mixture of Morrocan, Algerian and Middle Eastern and every bite was super. The Goat's cheese Brivates for starter were unlike anything we had ever had. The soft centre and crisp outside were a great combination. The starter of Hummous was the best we have had in a very long time. Chicken tagine was expertly prepared and incredibly tasty. The chicken couscous was also excellent. Despite being well satisfied, we shared two deserts and again, enjoyed the flavours. The ambience was also very inviting with music to suit the restaurant. we would definitely visit again and recommend it to others.

What an incredible little restaurant! The staff are so lovely and helpful, very accommodating and friendly. The food was SO full of flavour! We ordered the Tangine and Mixed Grill. Divine! They also had a small shisha area out the back, a very traditional and cute tented garden area. A very chilled vibe.

We ordered meatballs and aubergine tagine. It was delicious! Everything was fresh & so well balanced, we couldn’t stop eating! We also had traditional tea and smoked sheesha afterwards. It was a lovely experience. Cannot wait to visit again.

We were a group of ten and were looked after really well. The food was great and the atmosphere matched. If you want an alcoholic drink with your meal, you’ll need to bring your own (no charge). We used the Tescos extra which was about 50yards away. Will definitely go back.

Popped in for something to eat enroute to the O2 last night. Oh my god, the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful in choosing the right meal. We had Meze, spicy sausages and halloumi bread. We had a very good meal at Le Kesh. Moroccan and Lebanese cuisine is served here. All three dishes from the tagine were delicious, the lamb tagine was tender as butter. A mezze plate and haloumi in a flatbread were a good introduction to the kitchen. The service was extremely friendly, explained the cuisine and the restaurant and was always charming. An absolute recommendation from me.

We had a birthday celebration and preordered feast. The food was delicious, the staff were very helpful to prepare the celebration, took our cake and balloons prior to a dinner. The stuff made our celebration special with rasty dishes and amazing service. Thank you!

Myself and 5 of my friends went here for a birthday dinner a few nights ago and we couldn’t rate them highly enough! The ambience, food and especially service was incredible! I sadly didn’t get to eat here… I booked this place for my 21st birthday for a dinner. I booked online and received a confirmation email, so I was convinced the restaurant was open. The day before my reservation I received a reminder email reminding me of my booking with the times etc. which I thought was great and again a sign that the place was open. My partner and I walked 40 minutes in the rain to get to the restaurant to only find out it was undergoing renovations and was closed. Furniture had been moved, nobody was in eating, blinds were down and there were two builders working on the tiles upon our arrival. I’m really heartbroken I didn’t get to make the most of my 21st, I was really looking forward to a nice Moroccan meal. I’m sure the food is absolutely lovely, it’s a shame though that we were mislead and left disappointed without even have had the chance to eat here. *edit in response to Le Kesh response: I can appreciate the situation, however I can also provide evidence that I didn’t get any phone calls. The restaurant should have cancelled the emails going out confirming bookings and emailed or even texted customers too, especially if you weren’t able to contact them via phone. I do however appreciate the apology - thank you.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed... We successfully booked our table and received confirmation email, only to find It was closed right in front of our faces!

Authentic food. The staff are clearly passionate about the food and job. Friendly guy who I assumed was the owner made the effort to chat and tell us about the history of the place and food.

We stopped by a couple of weeks ago for dinner for four. The owner treated as amazingly, we explained every dish and he also suggested some recommendations. The food was great, the place very cozy and the staff excellent. It was also helpful the menu had several vegetarian options. Merci beaucoup, we will come back.

Excellent for group bookings. Extremely accomodating. Had booked outside hoping the weather to be a little warmer and on arrival they'd prepared a table for us inside anticipating that we may want to escape the cold. We were incredibly grateful! We had a lovely evening at La Kesh, my first visit ever. The food was incredible, the service was so quick and the people were lovely. Wow! 5/5! My partner and I visited with his family for dinner! It was such a warm and lovely atmosphere!! The food was delicious! I recommend the chicken tagine, their baba ghanoush, mix grill and the la kesh royale for sharing! Bring your own wine and enjoy!!! The Harissa was so good so the owner gave me some to take away in a little pot for free which was so kind and thoughtful. The owner who was also serving us and the whole restaurant was so warm, welcoming and best of all funny!! The cherry on top of the cake was the music playlist! Absolute classics!!!!! Excellent dinner at this place, the owner Slim is the perfect host - one of the most friendly and helpful greetings i have experienced. As for the restaurant itself, the feel and decor is authentic and really makes you feel like you are in Morocco. We ate in the covered garden which has amazing heating and didnt even feel like you were outdoors. The food is traditional and delicious - we had tagine and hummus and was the best dinner ive had in weeks. Would recommend to all. 👍👍

I went to Le Kesh for my birthday and it was incredible. The staff were so friendly and the Le Kesh Feast was perfect for our group of 6 and incredible value for money. We sat in the garden that has heat lamps and music that was a good volume. All round a really great vibe, cannot recommend it enough!
