Le Hope Balti House in Havering

My mum and I have never been disappointed with le hope everything they make is just perfect for us, you can tell the chefs are hard at work along with everyone else in this place!! we’re gonna eat our vindaloo while watching a good movie soon!

Le Hope? More like No hope Ordered an Indian from here last Friday. Waited nearly two hours and it exceeded the expected delivery time by 70 minutes. Called up , I was told it’s on its way, to then wait a further 40 minutes. Once the food arrived, The Lamb chops had a burnt taste not the quality they was a few years ago. Ordered a saag alo… I’m sure it was a veggie curry side dish. Had 3 potatoes in , green beans and sweetcorn. Sorry but where was the spinach? Lamb tikka madras. Proper average very bland zero flavour. Keema rice was ok. Naan bread cold and soggy. Poppadoms - probably best part of the meal Do not waste your money ordering from here. I never leave reviews but this is out unsatisfied I was.

I ordered 2 chicken tikka Baltic’s, rice Bombay potatoes onion bhajee and nann bread which was the only edible thing to eat. The Baltic were taste tomato water, potatoes had no bland, no flavour at all and the onion bhajees were like bricks, so hard they nearly broke out teeth…. Worst Indian I have ever had and will definitely not order from there again!!!

I ordered garlic chicken tikka curry and saag alloo from the restaurant. They gave me a curry with half cooked onions and no garlic in it , chicken was chewy and tasteless. I paid £11. 95 for this curry and i called them to say the food was half cooked below average and not even edible enough. The guys replied we can’t do anything and said”Whatever “. The staff were obnoxious and rude and disrespectful on the phone. These kind of restaurants and taking a mic out of people, i am Indian myself and i know how the curry is supposed to taste! Pathetic.

Had an Indian from le hope last night. I have used this Indian for many years and always been nice but last nights was exceptional. So fresh and hot , was the best take away I’ve had in a long time

Ordered food through uber eats to wait approx 1 hour to recieve a phone call saying that due to heavy traffic in the area we will not be able to deliever and we have sent you a refund. Sorry but at times we all have to sit in traffic this is the uk after all.

Horrendous. Didn't let me order online as they don't deliver to my postcode, yet their menu finds its way through my letterbox. They agreed to take my order over the phone but couldn't apply the 10% discount for ordering online, as I was ordering over the phone. Food arrived fairly quickly, however I wish I didn't arrive at all. The samosas were hard and dry and over cooked, could even say reheated more times than they should've been to pass as remotely edible! The onion bhaji was rock hard, my bin didn't appreciate that. The curry's, one chicken Masala, one lamb Masala, one chicken jalfrezi, all arrived drowning in oil and grease, about 2cms of the top layer for each container was a translucent concoction of grease, fat, oil and whatever else, I don't want to know. They even chucked in a free main for the order being over £50. Which the mixed balti I opted for, arrived as small chunks of brown curry paste, clotted together swimming in a circular pool of oil. Reminiscent of what you'd expect to see in your toilet bowl if you dared eat any of the dishes they delivered. Tried this place once and never again, I'll also be contacting the FSA (Food Standards Agency) and local council health inspector's office.

Ordered via Uber at 18.45, food arrived 21.30 - almost 3 hours later. We called twice first time it’s on route you should get it in 5/10minutes… we rang again as didn’t arrive they said it’s not ready yet? So why lie?! Tried to call after this but phone calls all ignored. Avoid at all costs and to think me and my husband used to come here all the time and supported them during lockdown. Oh and forgot to add nothing to do with Uber as they use their own drivers even states this when you order through them.

Looking at their last menu, which I used to order, I now discover a massive change to what they offer. I realise times are hard, but I should have been contacted on their changes and I could have altered my order. Now I know, I wish them well, but will not be ordering from them again. Sorry Le Hope

Staff acting very weird. When people entry they. Car park it’s. Customer car park. Restaurant staff? most be. Doing somthin wrong why keep acting scared. Very mine. We go here from time to time and more recently the food has been very good. The thing that will put me off from going again soon is that some of the waiters listen to your conversation and sometimes interject and comment on what you are saying. I think people like the waiters to be friendly, but not to the point where they take over your conversation! So I'm afraid this has put me off.

2 or 3 times we have waited 2-3 hours for delivery and we order via website immediately they open. Everytime you call to say still waiting they say driver has left and after half hour no one here and prob 10 min drive. The food is fantastic and we have ordered from a lot of Indians in ours and surrounding towns and villages. After 2 hours 50 mins tonight we got our dinner but the rice was missing, didn't bother calling as prob would have been a few hours wait again

Wouldn’t waste your time. It’s a shame as the food is good however the delivery wait time is whenever they fancy. Last week was 2hr 30… having called several times. This week we’ve called at 1hr 30mins and was told ‘when the driver is ready’ and hung up. They happily take your order and tell you no longer then 1hr but the restaurant sounds completely chaos.

The MadDogs haven't been here for 5/6 years as the quality had dropped badly. We used other Curry Houses locally, who in turn have closed/dropped in quality over time.Seems to be the way with these places. So, the MadDogs went with our neighbours for a retry meal .Glad to say that things are back to normal- ish. While the food we had was pretty good and our friends had what they always have and were well pleased MadDog felt his Chicken Pathia (toned down as MadDog is a bit of a girly with spicy food) was a bit funny looking. The trend with curries these days seems to be that they are washed out in texture and look well, opaque. Had this at another curry house locally, and they ignored my pleas , now MadDog is gone. Sorry Make the curry something of substance, rich and tasty after all we are paying quite a bit for them. Also can any curry chef locally make a proper job of a Chicken Tikka Mossalla? Please let me know, because what we are being sold at the moment is a pink gloop with so much sugar in it all the people in Rainham will have no teeth and will soon glow pink in the dark. SORRY MadDog does go on a rant now and again. Just do it right please!!! All said The MadDogs had a nice evening with wine and beer thrown in at a reasonable price Good company in nice surroundings. Our evening was Jalfrezi, Pathia, TCM and Mrs MadDog had a King Prawn speciality thing (forgot the name). Four blobs out of five. MadDog says ,Sort out the Curry!!!!!

I've only ever got chicken tikka masala from here just cause I love the dish and every time its been amazing, no complaints here other than a slow delivery time but when it tastes this good I'm willing to wait

I have been trying to find a nice good traditional Indian restaurant, I was able to use Meerkat meals discount as well, I'm from an Indian background I felt the food was very good, tasty, my family are usually very fussy but all young to old everyone loved the food. The service was superb Mr Miah handled the booking, the food prep everything with care and consideration all throughout, Definitely marked as one of our family favourite local now. Hope you all have same great experience 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely meal from le hope this evening such a shame it was 40 mins late and arrived minus the naan bread. Bread was delivered half way through our meal. The worst part is the lies we are told when we call to check where the food is when the app shows it left the shop 20 mins ago. It’s just leaving he said but 15 mins later still not here. Less than 5 mins in car. Sadly I don’t drive. The food is good the customer service is diabolical. JOKERS FROM CHRISTINE STOKES

Had a nice evening here. The prices are reasonable and the food was tasty. We ordered several dishes which was requested to be served at the same time. The selection of beers was limited and were only available in bottles none available on draft. Decor is ok, felt cosy enough.

I have been a customer since 1995 but will never use this restaurant ever again. The food is great. Collection is fine. Due to Covid I ordered a delivery at around 1840 via Just Eat and was advised that the estimated time of delivery was 1950. I advised the delivery person to be careful along the passageway as it was uneven, knock at the door and leave the bag on top of the wheelie bin and I would come straight out. At around 1920 I noticed it was out for delivery and waited at my upstairs window looking for him. At 1955 I contacted the restaurant and question that the food had left them almost 40 minutes ago and was assured the driver had pressed the wrong button. I waited in the warm for a knock n the door but at 2010 I received a notification that it had. been delivered. The driver had left it without knocking so I rushed downstairs to find stone cold Keema Naan, Cold Chicken Korma and Onion Bhajis. I have two dogs so if anyone had even tapped lightly on the door they would have barked loudly to alert me. I called the restaurant and they did offer to send fresh food but I have to be up at 0600 in the morning so it was far too late. It is now 2100 and I have only just got off the phone to Just Eat. A whole evening wasted.- no dinner - off to bed on an empty stomach. If the food is still outside when I go down to secure my house it is going in the bin so the foxes don't leave it on my doorstep. They have lost a the future custom of a person with 26 years of custom. Diabolical! Last summer they delivered over an hour early when I was not at home!

We have used this restaurant many times and would highly recommend, unfortunately last night the end of drinks service was a lot to be desired, it really ruined what should have been a lovely evening and I feel our complaint should have been dealt with in a more professional manner. Alas, we will not be using this restaurant again!

I visited Le Hope, for a family meal. The food was good but the service unbelievably bad! Prior to culminating our meal, we ordered more drinks, but the drinks never appeared. After ten minutes I confronted the manager who was quite blasé and disregarded my complaint. I reiterated that I had been waiting for 10 mins, but was told that the waiting staff had been busy looking after other customers. WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE RESTAURANT! The manager kept defending his staff, telling me that they were tending to other clients, but there were no other clients, we were the only clients. I eventually left the restaurant with my company, who were celebrating a milestone. We all felt very deflated and felt that the night could have been so much different if the restaurant appreciated its clientele. I know the hospitality trade is suffering at the moment but feel that they should look after their clientele instead of treating them in an uncomplimentary fashion. What ever happened to the customer is always RIGHT. I am most disappointed with our recent visit and if the manager had shown a little more interest in its clientele’s well being, and perhaps a bit more customer care had been shown, the evening would have ended on a good note rather than a sour one.

I am a key worker staying a hotel every Monday night for 5 weeks. I used this takeaway service last Monday with a just eat delivery and again this Monday. Hats off to the guys and girls, I eat Indian food all over the country, sometimes three times a week. The food is great value for money, and has outstanding flavour. My tipple is chicken tikka vindaloo and boiled rice. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Will be enjoying it again next Monday. Thanks guys 😀😀😀😀

Visited on a Saturday night with 4 other friends waited ages to give drinks order to the point that we considered leaving. When our wine arrived the server just plopped the bottles on the table and left, don't get me wrong I'm quite capable of pouring a drink but because we were undecided on what one we wanted he obviously got the hump,put them down and was like there they are, very unprofessional. We gave our food order eventually, popodums were not that fresh border line stale,food came and it wasn't that great, my chapatti was overdone, crispy infact. Unfortunately I didn't get to look at bill as my friend insisted on paying and going on other reviews she may of got over charged. Once she paid she gave the stroppy miserable server, (everyone must know the one I'm referring to) anyway she gave him a £10 tip he just took it and walked off, no thank you no nothing. She made it more than obvious that we won't be returning. Not all the staff were like that in fact the complete opposite. We decided on le hope over the cauliflower for a change, won't be making that mistake again.

IF YOU CANT ORDER OVER THE PHONE DONT BOTHER OR ORDER WELL, WELL ,WELL IN ADVANCE IF YOU'RE USING THE WEBSITE OR APP. We Ordered through the app and it said they had received my order and that I could collect in 15 mins which I thought was great, when my wife turned up to collect 20mins after we ordered, firstly the guy ignored her to serve a regular then he said oh we have only just got that order it'll be 30 MINUTES, didnt even apologise. The food actually took 75 MINUTES. There was also plenty of people with orders that had ordered prior to ours in the same boat. Food seemed nice.

We were given only the 'takeaway' menu before the meal, we were never warned to ignore the prices, and that we would be charged the much higher 'main menu' prices after the meal. We were accused of visiting this restaurant lots of times before(I live 40 miles away, and have NEVER been there before) and thus should have been aware of their dubious practices. Take care if you come here - ask the prices carefully before ordering - and double-check your bill at the end. Don't get ripped off !!!

We were given a single sheet paper menu, presumably to fit in with Coronavirus rules. We ordered. The food was nothing special and my "lamb" would have made good shoe leather. When the bill came, it was immediately obvious that the prices were vastly different to those on the menu. When we questioned it, we were told that the paper menus were showing take-away prices but, as we ate in, we were being charged by the main menu, a menu we had not been offered. Until we complained, no mention had been made of any of this. It is my opinion, and that of both my companions, that this was a blatant and and deliberate attempt to overcharge in the hope that maybe we had had too much wine to notice. They made all sorts of excuses and, eventually we received an apology from the manager, but still claiming it was anaccidental error. It was not, and I will not be going there again, ever.

Best Indian restaurant for miles

Great prices and quality of food. Used the app to order and pay. Still had a little wait for collection but everyone enjoyed their meals.

Rude manager and was over charged would NEVER go back which is a shame as it used to be a good restaurant a few years ago

Have ordered many times before and delivery always a bit hit and miss, usually always about 30 minutes longer than they say. However tonight took the biscuit! Ordered at 7.30 and given delivery time of 8.20. Immediately after ordering the time increased to 9pm.By 9.30 still hadn't arrived, husband phoned and was told it had just left and would be with us in 10 minutes. 10.05 still nothing! Rang again to be told would now be another 15 minutes! Asked if it would be still warm then as it was meant to have left over 30 minutes ago. Said yes it would, so obviously hadn't left when we phoned at 9.30.Eventually arrived at about 10.20. Driver apologised for the wait, and said when ordering next time to let them know we had waited so long and we may get a discount. Next time, no I don't think so!

This is the first time we have been back post COVID. The tables are well spaced and the cleaning regime in place. The waiters were wearing face masks. We always enjoy a curry here and tonight was no exception. I particularly like the Chicken Dhansak.

You normally receive a 10% discount for collecting a takeaway however when i arrived to collect it i was told this was no longer available but i wasn't told this when i placed the order i then had to wait another 20 minutes and when i got several items were wrong or missing

Food was on time but had.no taste very blande and infact £30+wasted and noone liked it or ate it! I used to love this place and used to eat from here all the time!!! But this is DEFINITELY the last time I'm ordering from them! I'm very disappointed.... And when I rung to complain I got told... 'well Biriani is only rice with chicken!" urm not from every other Indian resturant!!! The Bombay potatoes even had no taste it was completely tasteless!!! The only nice thing was the Peshwari nann 🙈🙈🙈 I would of rather Tesco own brand microwave curry for 89p!!

This Balti House is a little gem, nestled in quant old shops in the historic village of Rainham Essex, just opposite the National Trust building of Rainham Hall, the service was excellent and also the same with the food, a must visit place.

Great restaurant, we arrived with tired and hungry kids, they took great care of us. The food was lovely, and it made a perfect end to our day. We will definitely return.

This is our local Indian restaurant and we often go back. This time curry was exceptionally good - the Chicken Dhansak was just right! In fact, my friends all enjoyed our food - the garlic naan was particularly good. Friendly welcoming service and good value for money. They always give you a free drink and a chocolate at the end - I nice touch!

We get Le Hope nearly every week. Never ever disappointed, the food is always delicious, ready on time and piping hot. The collection deal is such great value as well as eating in. Couldnt fault it.

Had 3 main meals, 2 sides, rice, nann bread and a poppadoms and still less than £30! All the food was cooked fantastically too. Always use and well recommend for flavour and value!
