My Grandparents visited The Lawns for a coach trip in a group of over 20 people. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great, service was excellent and all 20+ of them had a wonderful afternoon. Exceptional restaurant, thoroughly impressed with your fantastic staff and service. We will certainly be returning in future and recommending to friends.

I've got to say since poppy has taken over the lawns it's so much better . She is so friendly and welcoming. Food is really good and great value for money.

I mainly drink at the Lawns but on occasion have eaten also, each time I had been here it has been excellent I really can't complain about the choice and quality of food. The staff are polite and friendly and really make you feel welcome into their pub. It defiantly is a must try

I Had the Sirlon Steak it was over cooked to my order so was sent back, so the next piece out you thought they would want perfect....well I wouldn't have fed it to my dog!! It was a pummelled piece of meat with in the inch of its life and the most fattiest gristlyest piece I think they could find.......I refused to eat it as i even struggled to cut it with a Steak knife, 1st vist to the Lawns the food was lovely, 2nd visit sent food back....thought ok after our 1st experience this is a blip but now this our 3rd visit and my birthday meal reuind we will not return again.

Went in for a Cuppa, got a Cuppa, the lady that served was very friendly and helpful.

Great potential. Big old place with good outdoor and indoor space. Just needs a bit of TLC particularly outside and the bar inside is a bit small. Could do with a better sign and repaint of front door (not pink).

I tried to book via the website but didn’t get any confirmation! Eventually phoned to confirm. The carvery was slow service and although we were early (12.15) the meat wasn’t particularly good (very dried edges (especially on Turkey) and tough beef). Need back of service to attend to replacing Vegetables when required rather than the carver having to stop when busy.

Staff were lovely and very helpful,food was great, everything was clean, because the staff were under pressure,table took a while to be cleared,but that doesn't detract from the fantastic service,thank you all.

The queue for the carvery was excessive, we waited over 30 minutes in the queue only to find that there was no gammon and no beef. Three of us had to accept the turkey whilst the fourth member of our party waited with their dog. By the time he got to the counter, all the meat was gone and he had to wait another 20 minutes +. Our friends had come from the Midlands on our recommendation as to how good the carvery was, only to be completely disappointed. It's unlikely that we will go back.

We were so happy with our food. I've already recommended it to others. The plated roast was lovely and one of the best roast we've eaten out. Well done to the chef. We will be on again for carvery in the future. Thank you so much for fitting us in and the amazing service.

Would give it no stars if I could!! Absolutely appalling customer service!!! Don't waste your time going here!!! No wonder they have vouchers through the post for 30% off! Treated customers poorly! Waited at the till to be served - was rude to the customer in front of me who was elderly with a walking stick! We asked if it was the till to order food or is there another till to order food and got told 'wait a minute I'm dealing with a customer! You can wait here because the other till isn't working!' Whilst I was waiting the lady came out with the food for another customer and told me 'theyre not serving food for another hour because the chef is going on a break' what a absolute joke! Whilst we walked out we looked at some people at the till, which they told us was closed, and they were ordering food after us!!! Used to be nice many years ago and can see why it is never busy!!! Will not be returning!!! You can keep your coupons!!!

Proper pub , food was good, not special anniversary type meal but good honest pub grub , we had fish n chips and curry which came with naan bread, rice and poppadom.for a tenner. Bottles of wine are a good price

The bar staff were very good when my friend and i arrived we felt so welcome We did feel very rushed by the waitresses towards the end of our meal very off putting

I was with a friend, had the pricy mixed grill. We ordered a medium and a well done. They mixed the order up and a very well done one was delivered as medium. We swapped steakes, but also one came with and other without onion rings. There were egg shells in the egg. Over all it was not a good experience and we won't be coming back soon!

We booked for Sunday carvary. Arrived to be told sorry they'd sold out! They didn't have the courtesy to call to tell us before we arrived. Very poor. Shouldn't accept walk ins when you have bookings!

We booked a small room for a birthday party for 12. Alan was amazing and made sure we were well looked after. The chef - a lady whose name I’ve forgotten, was also serving the food, which was excellent. Both were tge only members of staff working at the time and they worked hard to accommodate us for the 4 hrs we were there. Thank you to Alan and Chef for making Reuben’s birthday such a success!!

A week before Christmas I called the lawns after 7th time in same day I got an answer .I asked are you open of JUST drinks of Christmas Day . A young lady answered the call . And I heard them talking in back. Either knew the answer . Or what time they were opening . But I was told definitely open for just Drink . My wife and I walk over around 12 ISH on Christmas and it was open . Great . We went straight to the bar . Order our drinks . No happy Christmas from the guy behind the bar to be honest he was rude .no Christmas cheer no Christmas music's . I ask where we could sit . In he's words upstairs . So up stairs we went. Vacuum cleaner still left on landing . A young girl ask if take out small table away . It was cold . . To be honest is was bad . It was unbelievable a joke . Service warm welcome . The table upstairs . Vacuum still laying across the floor Will never recommend this pub to friends or family . And I would be very surprised if this massages get read . Or even acted on . I will get a reply of. Will unstaffed or it was Christmas . Not good enough. Maybe I get a reply may not !!

First time have Christmas Lunch away from home, and enjoyed, staff were chatty and a pleasant. we have visited before, and have enjoyed our visits, was please that the carvery was available as every one was able to take as much as they wanted.

Great staff, friendly and helpful, food was good. A gluten free menu/allergies list would have been much better. The staff were very helpful though, but they don't have time to go through a customer's food intolerance

Absolutely top class!! Great food, great atmosphere and a friendly welcoming member of staff behind the bar. I've been here before for a carvery one Sunday and was very pleased with the quality & choice, so because of that my other half and I decided to try out the main menu. I had the mega mixed grill and my other half had cheddar and leak pie both meals were well cooked, great quality and worth every penny. The Lawns has not enjoyed a favourable reputation over the years and I've experienced some of its negative issues. However, The Lawns has turned a corner and has finally become the eating/drinking place that it should be. 10 out of 10 from me and definitely will be returning!!

Visited to celebrate a family members birthday. Food was delicious. Atmosphere & staff were excellent. No option for a herbal tea which is was slightly disappointing.

Great food, great price, overall great place. My only piece of constructive criticism is that our starters came out at different times. I’ve been here twice now and I can say that they do seem to employ inexperienced staff but hasn’t cause an issue yet.

The last time we came to this pub for food was over 20 years ago. I’ve recently seen a couple of posts on Facebook that have been very positive so thought we would give it a try. Glad we did. As soon as we walked in the staff were really friendly, we were guided to our table we pre-booked & after looking through the menu we ordered. We were a table of 4 & 2 of us decided to have a starter. They came out after no more than 10 minutes & both were absolutely fine. Our main meals then came out and again all of them were perfect in every way. Well presented, hot & delicious. The bill was extremely reasonable compared to other local establishments in the area. We will certainly go back in the near future & also recommend to others. 10/10

I have just moved to this area, and recently went in for the first time, it has a good atmosphere about the place and the staff are very friendly, looking forward to doing one of the quiz nights soon.

Got my child a small kids meal, chips were a bit crispy for a 1 year old, but was quick. Service was quick and lots more staff on.

Staff were friendly and cheerful carvery was very good presented with all meat and veg laid out and the cooking was excellent which prompted me to give a tip..definitely recommend

Discriminating against my 2 very autistic daughters double booked us for the room upstairs so we can have a family party now havent accommodated to there needs have us the table around the corner where it is just as noisy where other customers will sit the manager called me extremely rude very disappointed and this isn’t the first time having to complain about this branch now unfortunately me and my daughters will not be able to attend family meal due to the team being incapable of being organised what should of happened is them giving us an alternative time possibly a different date but no just shoved us around the corner no sympathy or understanding for my girl’s disability

Not been here for years 😕 It was always good, just got really busy. Pleased with the staff, service and of course food. The regular roast was more than enough and was excellent 👌 👏

We booked a table for the carvery for 2pm. Come 3pm we were still waiting to go up to get served. Got our money back

We used to love coming to The Lawns, but we went today for lunch and was not impressed. Selected a table and went to the bar to order. Service at the bar was slow despite it not being particularly busy but we waited and continued to order, spending £39. We took the drinks back to the table, as we got near I noticed what I thought was my daughter's prank dog poo on the floor.. I wish it was. It was an actual poo of at least a day old on the floor near the booths at back near the kitchen door. We moved tables after informing a member of staff but we all lost our appetites after that. Manager was good about it, apologised and refunded our meals and drinks but it is going to be a long time before we can consider revisiting unfortunately.

I hired the function room for my 60th birthday party.. it was amazing and the buffet was brilliant plenty of choices and certainly plenty of food. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much for them. If you have a special birthday coming up or any other function I would certainly recommend. Thank you Fiona and staff you made my night very special

Friendly polite staff throughout a good experience

We went at lunchtime for a carvery this was your second weekend doing carvery and there is nothing I would change the food was lovely the staff were all friendly. There was nothing I could of faulted with our family lunch on Sunday keep up the good work we will definatly be back.

Eaten a few times here now. We share the loaded fries. Food always hot and quick service.

Came here for a roast last Sunday and loved it. The staff were lovely and there was a good selection at the carvery. Very reasonably priced as well.

So had meal tonight food was good very hot but the service and staff wasn’t great a smile wouldn't go a miss didn’t ask if food was ok at all they kept walking round in circles all the time we were sat there miserable lot no people skills including the management suppose to be service with a smile 😀

As our previous booking had let us down. We were lucky to get in here. Great food, lovely service too

A disappointing experience. There were two main issues; firstly, the service from the male bar manager was terrible. He was surly, negative and rude. Every effort to make an order was met with a frown, negativeness and an impression that he couldn't be bothered and that we were inconveniencing him. This was protracted and went on for the whole afternoon. Secondly, there were issues with the food. The nachos were merely corn chips with some salsa/dip squirted on top. They were cold and did not have any melted cheese or other cheese! The several orders of chips were poorly cooked. Very confusing how the kitchen could get basic dishes such as and nachos and chips so badly wrong.

I've changed this rating and given them full stars since the pub has been taken over. The food is outstanding and the service is fantastic. Staff always greet with a smile and very friendly.

Had a shocking experience at the lawns today on fathers day, heard they serve good food but our experience was terrible. Firstly they brought my daughters food out on its own and the rest of us waited and waited. When we asked we had a response of " well nachos are on starters on our till and you didn't tell us" when in the menu its under sharing not starters. Also when receiving my burger I noticed the colour, grey on the outside and pink in the middle. No way a chef of any calibre cooked or checked that as you can see in the pics. Added to this my wife's roast came out with a carrot with plastic netting still attached. So I asked see the manager and I was told you will have to come to him at the bar or wait. When he arrived at our table he wasn't at all apologetic, so I asked for a full refund and we will eat somewhere else and the reply was "ok" and he disappeared. There were a lot of young and new staff who didn't know what to do or even know how to work the till to receive our refund. Won't be going there ever again.

Very quiet but OK for what we wanted

This was a lunch for 10 ladies following a morning meeting in the Church building opposite. The table was well presented for us and it was a quiet and comfortable area. We ordered a range of meals from the menu and they all came together, looking very good. Everyone was happy with their food and the service that we received. Thank you!

Went out for a family lunch. Lovely food, big portions, with the apple crumble dessert easily large enough to share. Helpful staff, service with a smile. Really good value too.

It is the first time I been in a pub for years and as soon as we walk in the staff was amazing I think the food was amazing and I will be coming again mr and my gf enjoyed the experience we will see u again very soon even sooner if we win the price .
