We stayed three nights at this hotel. Very friendly staff. I would have given it a 5 but in three days they never cleaned the room. We asked reception if this was normal, I was told that yes, they no longer make the rooms but that we can have towels. It's a bit like if you go to a restaurant for two days, the first day they prepare food for you and the second they give you the ingredients and it's up to you to prepare. This is unacceptable.

I went for a training course, service was good but unable to comment on the rooms. Although the rooms were quite expensive so my company put me in a nearby hotel.

Good post wedding day venue. Bar was kept open. Rooms are like from 2007 which the WiFi code confirmed. Needs a bit of TLC

I visited with my partner on our anniversary which coincided with a wedding we were attending, and the staff went above and beyond to make the day special. Our room was upgraded, they gave us a card in the restaurant and brought our deserts to the room. In terms of the facilities, they are pretty standard, and the restaurant is your average "Marco Pierre White" set up. I think the real bonus that this place has is the staff which made the visit memorable.

British hotels are generally rather old-fashioned. The rooms are quite dilapidated and the equipment is very average. The electric heater is broken and not repaired before being used by guests. The sound of the toilet exhaust fan is like turning on a vacuum cleaner. I don’t know if it’s the culture of this place, but reservations are required for room cleaning and quilt replacement. Otherwise, there will be no waiters to clean up the quilt and change towels for us. The only thing worth admiring is that this place can watch the sunset under red cover.

stayed here for a couple of nights when at a wedding in the area. An old but quaint hotel. a lovely staff team that were really helpful and polite. very comfortable room which was very clean. Good choice of food at breakfast both continental and cooked. Nice bar area inside and outside with a good selection of drinks. Ate in the Marco Pierre White restaurant on site and chose the 2 course set menu food £19.99 excellent food for this very reasonable price. Lovely surroundings area of countryside around the hotel - would come back to stay and explore.

Checked in with Yvonne, who previously left a review. I appreciate we requested a room that would accommodate our dog so thought we might not get the best room, but what we got was disgusting. Black dirt marks ground into to material on back of shabby chair where years of dirty hands had clearly caused this, mould and dirt on walls and skirting, carpet absolutely disgusting, bathroom covered in mould and again, disgusting. The smell was so bad I could taste it on my breath. The room was joined to another room by a locked door and I could here every word of the conversation of those in the room next door, as well as their loud TV. We decided we could not stay in the room as it was so disgusting and asked for a room change, we were told this was not possible so we complained about the state of room and left without staying. Yvonne was charged £140 for the room and I really don't understand how anyone can be charged this amount to stay in such shabby accommodation. If this was offered me for free, I would not stay as it was that bad. Never before have I seen accommodation that bad.

1 night stay from our holiday, was so looking forward to it, before going home.I found the room at 140 pounds very mouldy,I knew would not be as good as we had a dog yet mouldy walls and floors ,stains and smells and could hear next door chatting and tele, did not stay yet would not offer us anything else so left, no guarantee of a refund.

Will be booking here again. Rooms are excellent, clean. Food is a bit pricey, for what you get, but thats due to the name. Reception staff very smart and very polite. Highly reommend.

So stayed here as part of a business trip. Room was average and could do with a refurb. Receptionists were friendly and helpful some other staff were also friendly some not so much. Came across as a feeling of annoyance and dismissive. Location is very helpful as it is just off the motorway and easy to get to.

So like everyone else my only complaint is why do you have to empty a whole bottle of salt on my fries?! How hard is it to leave the fries plain and let people put their own amount of salt. Whilst i was there today i seen people from 2 different tables go up and complain about the saltyness on the flippin fries. Just stop doiing it!

I visited this bar to eat with friends and did everything you are advised to do by a discount card I have and was abused by a senior member of staff in front of friends. Gross bad management. I will never set foot in this place again and would not recommend this establishment!

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.

Came here by chance when the other Indian restaurant we had booked messed up our booking. Warm welcome in nice, modern decor. Menu was full of quite authentic Indian dishes which the staff were really helpful giving their advice. There are the usual curry classics too. Had the lamb curry which was divine & other family members had a variety of dishes which they all loved. One of the best curries I’ve had outside of India, it was that good! This place is a real gem! Patchway is very lucky to have this wonderful restaurant.
