Lavang in Sheffield

Absolutely sensational food. One of the best Indians I have ever eaten. From the pickle tray to the deserts, everything works beautifully and it’s topped off by sensational service. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience fine dining Indian food at a very reasonable price!

Lavang is a gem! I've eaten at most of the main Indian restaurants in Sheffield and the food doesn't get much better than here - my personal favourite is the lamb biryani. The staff are incredibly welcoming and the service has always been faultless. The atmosphere leans towards finer dining, which aligns well with the quality of food and service. 5 stars - would recommend!

Astonishingly good food. Like a posh dinner at home.

This restaurant was recommended by a work colleague. The restaurant itself is quite pleasant with nice decor. The staff were very friendly. The dishes have a twist compared with the usually Indian restaurants. The food was presented well. My only complaint was that some of the dishes were a little salty which was disappointing. I would eat here again but perhaps try a different dish!. I wanted to give this a 3 and half rating but didn’t know how to add the half.

Starting with the pros, the ambience. Apart from this, the service was very very slow for some reason. We did order everything altogether though, but it wasn’t a lot. Would have appreciated a little heads-up if the Biryani we ordered was gonna take a while (40-50 min). We ordered Aloo chaat, 2 biryanis, one veg and one non-veg curry, 2 Daals, one naan and rice. Everything was sub-par, not worth the money. We were excited to try this restaurant seeing the reviews, but wasn’t it for us. Just fancy to sit at, I guess the target audience was just different and our palettes did not match

My recent visit to Lavang, an Asian fusion restaurant, was an absolute delight. Nash, the charming front-of-house manager, provided impeccable service with a genuine smile, enhancing the overall dining experience. Lavang sets the bar high for exceptional food, atmosphere, and hospitality in the realm of Asian fusion cuisine.

Always a delight coming to Lavang. From the moment you walk in you’re welcome and made to feel you belong. The restaurant is always stunning, spacious but also very intimate. All staff were above and beyond, and the food we received was exceptional as always. Asked the server for suggestions between two dishes and his opinion came through. Thoroughly enjoyed all. Will definitely be back. Thanks to all the guys behind the scenes in the kitchen.

Wow, probably the best Indian we have ever had. It really was special fine dining and every single dish blew us away. Service was excellent too. Worth the trip across Sheffield for us and will be back very soon

We pass Lavang every day on our way to work but had never eaten there, despite promising ourselves for the last 3 years. Last night, after a very challenging week, we decided to treat ourselves and go. We didn’t have a reservation, but were warmly welcomed and shown to a lovely candlelit table set with linen tablecloth and napkins and contemporary cutlery. Service was impeccable. We were treated to canapés while browsing the menu and immediately offered water. I cannot put into words how good the food was. Extremely high end, but very reasonably priced. We felt valued as customers and were made very welcome by a team who clearly love what they do.

Heard a lot about this restaurant so was looking forward to going. It is a pricey for Indian cuisine. Menu was not the most extensive. However the quality of the food makes up for it. The staff were great and friendly. We had 3 starters lamb chops, Chana chot poti (Chickpeas) and pakora. (Salmon) All cooked perfectly. The mains we had Nawab (lamb) , Makini (chicken breast) and kalee mirch (chicken thighs). We took our elderly auntie for her birthday. She is fussy but loved it. So if you are looking for a slightly more special Indian cuisine. Recommend Lavang

I've often driven by and wanted to try this restaurant, well I finally did at the weekend and wasn't disappointed. Ate delicious food, beautifully presented and with excellent service. My husband and I would happily return.

I went to Lavang after staying away from restaurants due to Covid-19. I was really looking to my meal. However, when I got to the restaurant, I was told by the staff there were no main course vegetarian or vegan choices (except for one dish with aubergines (which I am not fond of). I asked if the chef can make me a dish but I was told that the chef can’t make me a vegetarian dish. I was extremely disappointed. I did however have a starter which was reasonably nice. The 1 star marking is because of the starter. This restaurant is not a great value for money and I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

Nice food and wine but monumentally overpriced! £23 for a king prawn curry is high end but unfortunately, the prawns were standard supermarket standard which was really disappointing. They had Monkfish on the menu but changed the dish to cod and still charged the same!! Lovely setting, great welcome and service but sadly so overpriced!

Wow...Just Wow, in every respect. Service, Food, Decor, Foood & Foooood, all amazing. This place is on a different level and not your average Asian Restaurant. Even the wine is superb. I visited with my husband today. I have reviewed this restaurant three times as it is just so outstanding. To be clear, we do not know the owner, we are just customers. We ordered the goat vindaloo, it was absolutely incredible! The lamb shank was like butter, you could shred it with a spoon! And various other stunning side dishes. The service here is beautiful and the food is really of the highest standard. We travel from Chesterfield for this beautiful food, service and ambiance and will continue to do so. Fantastic place.

I've heard all the buzz about this restaurant and since i was in town. Thought I'd put it to the test. Upon entering, i was pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome and the modern deco. Soon, seated by the smiling, friendly staff. The menu had some unusual options, I opted to try some things I wouldn't usually in an Indian. But I very much enjoyed the starters, one was a very flavoursome and delicate squid. Followed by rich, tasty mains with delicious garlic naan bread and rice. I rounded it all off with a delicious milk cake and a mocktail. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant and that's coming from a Indian restaurant chef from down south!

Food which is different and mostly superior to most Indian/ Asian restaurants. Service poor, very young, inexperienced, uninterested staff. Kitchen / chefs unable to modify a dish, why? pre-prepared ? Very expensive, I am all for paying for food and an experience but this is far too expensive for the overall experience, only gets away with it because of its location in Ranmoor. As other have said the owner / managers doesn't have the best etiquette.

We hired Lavang Private Diners Club to cater for our wedding in Cheshire. They are absolutely fantastic. Great communication before the event. The bride is a vegan and so we asked Lavang to produce a vegetarian banquet - it exceeded all expectations. Brilliant food and great service. Our 60+ guests were very happy too (including kids). We chose Lavang after they provided catering for a friend's wedding and was very impressed then too. Having been to the restaurant to taste the food prior to booking, I can confirm the restaurant is fantastic. Next time we are in Sheffield we will be coming back for more. Cheers guys.

Lavang goes from strength to strength. Brilliantly flovoured cuisine- and it is 'cuisine' not just curry. Precisely spiced dishes and nicely presented. Very good.

Travelled as a group of four as we had won quite a substantial voucher for the restaurant at a charity ball last year. Have eaten at many Indian restaurants around the world, would say this is one of the best we have been to. From starting with an amuse bouche, the food and service were excellent all evening. The starter of Lamb chops was stunning, and the rack of Lamb for main course equally gorgeous. Definitely not your usual huge menu of curries. Would definitely return if it was closer to where we live. The only downside is the price, it is expensive, budget on £10 for starters, and mains with a nan or rice and a side dish £25 to £30, but it was full all evening so they are obviously very popular with the locals.

Ordered a takeaway and everything was filled with so much oil that it leaked out of the box and onto my boot carpet. This is not what good quality Indian food is about. You can only order takeaway online which is fair. I rang them and I was passed on to the manager to seek some advice as my wife has dietary requirements because the menu doesn’t specify any allergen advice. The manager was impatient and said that the restaurant I was extremely busy and that he was too busy to deal with my queries. I arrived there at 5.30pm and there was only one family that booked a table. To sum it up terrible food, and the manager needs to be less arrogant.

The most beautiful and amazing Asian fine dining experience. It's like being in the Goldilocks zone, as everything is just right and on point. The menu isn't huge, which allows Lavang to focus on what they do well, producing interesting dishes that you may not often find elsewhere. Their passion is evident from start to finish. Friendly and welcoming staff, who know just when to be there when you need them, yet giving you space to enjoy your experience. The restaurant doesn't have too many tables, and they're spaced out, so you don't feel cramped by the surroundings. The atmosphere is calm and the decor beautiful. After our basket of poppodum and chutney, my friends and I had Railway Prawns and Samundar Squid to start. The presentation was superb, with just the right size portion to tease the palate without overfilling us before main course. I had Rogan for my main, while the others ate Lamb Nawab. We each shared a little of our dishes to share our experiences. Both the goat and lamb were sublime, with delicate and subtle spices that enhanced the flavours without overpowering the meats and sauce. The classic and honey breads were light and fluffy, with a finger bowl provided to prevent our hands getting sticky from the honey. Dessert was Spiced Rum Gulab Jamun and Eton Mess. Both were light with plenty more subtle flavours. Drinks were a few pints of Cobra, some malt whisky and a taste of Lavang's own spiced rum and ice, which was a delicate and beautiful drink. The bill came to around the £200 mark for the three of us. By some standards, this may seem expensive. Factoring in the quality of the amazing food, the atmosphere, the friendly and on point staff, the passion Lavang demonstrate at what they do, and the welcome we received, I feel that it was excellent value for money. We visited lavang for the first time yesterday evening after wanting to visit for a number of years and never managing to make it! We had popodoms and pickle selection to start And went for the Rogan (goat), Goan gosht (lamb) and also the Madras (lamb shank) with l the steamed rice, pilau rice and a roti with a classic and lassani naan. Everything was devine! The Goan gosht especially. Service was impeccable and sitting outside on a beautiful summer evening just made the experience all the more delightful.

We came here on a whim after seeing other positive reviews and I'm glad we did. We had the lamb chops, paneer, crispy onions, crispy bindi and main with naga chilli.
