Latitude 48 in North Devon

Dirty fries with bbq pulled pork, delicious, but this portion beat me. 😅 Very generous. Thank you.

Came here for the first time yesterday. We were taken to a table with menus. After a little while someone came over and greeted us with 'are you ready' not the most professional manner. When receiving our food the waitress that delivered it had very long blonde hair that was not tied back. The food proportions were very small for the price you pay and the fried chicken was overcooked. Wouldn't recommend.

I came in for lunch and was greeted by the friendly staff. It was quiet when I went but the food arrived very quickly. I had the classic cheeseburger with chips and salad and it was amazing. You can tell the food is fresh and of good quality. The atmosphere was also great with background music that wasn't too loud. I will definitely be coming back here again!

Absolutely lovely food, the quality has improved greatly. Love this bar and chuffed it’s reopened. I’d personally prefer a different selection of music but that’s probably just me. Great lager on tap and no issues bringing my dog.

Had a meal here for the first time a few weeks ago. (Hubby booked online easily) Myself & my husband really enjoyed it. Hubby had the hugest burger, 'The Big 48' which had plenty there! I had the 'Gonzo chicken' & they were happy to remove the bacon for me. All tasted lovely & the homemade slaw was lovely too! In the restaurant, staff were attentive and friendly, you get given a little box you can tap for service so you can reorder drinks etc..(saves the awkward trying to get the attention of the waiters/waitresses to get another drink!)...(At least one part of Barnstaple is modern🤣) There's a pool table and games at the front of the restaurant if you want to hang out with mates and have a drink too before your meal, or just go in for drinks. Overall fab, will defo revisit. Lovely meal, nice wine & beers too, friendly staff and nice surroundings.

An hour after getting there, and 40 minutes after ordering our food we left with empty stomachs. When we sat down we were the third table there. Anoter three tables came in after us. The tables before us were all grumbling that their food was late, wrong or forgotten. Didn't bode well for us. We had to get to the cinema for 8. So started arriving at 6:45. We'd ordered by 10 past, but the order wasn't out into the till until 20 past. At 7:45 we were told the food was just being plated up. At 7:55 when chased, we were told it wouldn't be with us by 8. So we left. We went to McDonald's after the film. Not sure if they're under new ownership as we've been going here for 2 years and have had two staff Christmas parties here and numerous large birthdays. We won't be going back. I hate leaving bad reviews, usually a conversation with the staff is enough to smooth things over. But our complaints were just dismissed when brought to their attention.

Visited twice after reading other reviews whilst visiting Barnstaple. It has a varied and eclectic menu. We had Caesar salads with steak and with chicken and bacon the first time then a Salmon special and pulled pork Dish with Mediterranean veg. The next. All were very tasty, piping hot and large portions. The only criticism we would make was that food took a long time to come, but as it was busy and everything is cooked fresh to order, suppose it is to be expected. We went twice so must have been good!

First time here and won’t be back, waited so long for starters then we had finished and no one came to clear after we finished for around 30mins it wasn’t full as it was early. Bar staff were eating her boyfriend’s face off behind the bar which wasn’t pleasant to see. Main came out were ok rib were very dry ordered more drink though out but took so long we paid and left shame as I herd good things before coming

A fantastic selection of beers on offer, as well as cocktails and all your regular spirit drinks. I can't comment on the food as we only popped in for some drinks on a night out but it's a lovely bar with great atmospher, friendly staff, and a mouthwatering beer lineup! Prices are reasonable, all advertised on a TV above the bar for your convenience, which is always handy.

Wonderful late lunch meal. We had ribs and the hot dog and both portion sizes were big. A great selection of drinks and also dog friendly which is always a bonus! We will visit again

Great little find, casual restaurant with a wide variety of food and drinks and super helpful staff. We chose it for our anniversary dinner and it was fab!

Had a couple of drinks and a game of shuffle board. Good service and well kept beer.

Sadly had a bad experience here - waited 45 mins for food, and when it came 3 of the burgers were totally black and burnt on 1 side. Was told they would re do them and it would only take 5 or 6 mins. 20 mins later they finally arrived, and were much better. However by this point we had lost the will to live, and the other 2 in our group who's food we hadn't sent back, had finished there's ages ago. The waiter was very apologetic and gave us free drinks which we do appreciate but the whole experience ruined our day and unfortunately was the low point of our holiday! Hopefully just a one off, the menu looked great!

Awesome food in a setting like a USA Sports bar and grill. Plenty of different and unusual beers on offer. Only spoiled by the staff’s behaviour! I can’t enjoy a meal with friends while there’s bedlam going on behind as the staff are arsing and messing about. Also totally ignoring the table summoner led them to miss out on our purchase of more drinks and pudding. We had to go find someone in the end to settle up even though the staff were sat just behind us on the sofa chucking peanuts at each other. The place needs a grownup to keep them in line.

Eaten in here a lot and always steer towards the burgers but today had a classic cheeseburger with bacon and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had, good atmosphere with great food

A really offbeat and away from the norm place, in terms of both decor and concept. Fantastic choice of beers 🍻 ciders and cocktails 🍸. Great service, and the food portion sizes are really good. Something about this place that makes you want to go back.

A Great little find! Struggled to find somewhere we wanted to eat on a Monday, Latitude 48 stood out and so glad we gave it a go! I had the Philly style steak, medium. It was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Twisted Fire Starter burger (Naga Sauce on the side, he’s not THAT brave) and said it was fantastic. Beautiful home made and well seasoned burger. Great range of beers and really great staff too. Thanks for saving our life in an otherwise dead town. How is this place only No.17 on the scale? The only other place open was ‘Spoons FFS!

Came in for date night with the other half. Was greeted and served by very professional staff in a very relaxed atmosphere for a restaurant. We ordered the 28oz T-Bone steak sharing platter and it was incredible. Everything about it even the sides were amazing and cooked bang on. If you are in the Barnstaple area, I highly recommend popping in here (booking advisable). I will 100% will be going in again soon.

Had a great time on Tuesday night here. Tried to go Monday but full (excellent sign) gut behind the bar was very helpful and we booked a table online for the Tuesday night. Cool little button thing on table to ask for service. Excellent beer Beaverton and Tiny Rebel on tap, also good cocktails. Chicken burger and the steak fajitas were our choice though the table next door had the tbone that looked amazing.really helpful with dietary restrictions

Popped in for some dinner, chose the Tennessee Hotdog, didn't regret it, easily the best hotdog I've ever had and the service was outstanding too! Can't wait to come back!

Terrible experience, waited far too long for our meals ( due I suspect go the large number being returned from other tables) when it arrived my pork was at best ‘tepid’ and I sent it back as too cold to eat , by the time it returned my husband had finished his meal and my side of fries was cold ( no apologies from staff , just plonked down on table) evening was already spoiled as it is never fun eating alone! I told the manager that under the circumstances I was not happy paying for my meal however he took a paltry 10% off of bill and told me that I shouldn’t have eaten it ( I could not eat chips as they were cold!) he also said they were a family business ( though quite what this had to do with my complaint I am not sure!) I told him that I was not happy and that our evening had been completely spoiled by the quality of food and poor service, however he became quite angry banging a chair down and was being very sarcastic towards us as we left. I have visited latitude 48 several times in the past however sadly will not be gracing them with our business again.

Great food. Way too much on one's plate, but very tasty. The music is too loud, which makes it hard to hear each other.

If you are looking for a cool vibey place to go for food or just drinks look no further than Latitude, with its industrial interior and chill sound...you come across their friendly attentive staff, shout out to Sophie and Ash with their warm welcome and general attentiveness make you feel at home, their drinks menu is out this world with premium beers, beautiful wine and tasty cocktails...and now there's the food jeez, full of flavour the sheer portions and attention to detail...all in all a awesome experience and deffo be back in no time thanks guys you da best 🙌

From the minute we walked in we were greeted by very friendly staff who did there upmost to make us feel welcome...the food was amazing and the steak was perfect!! We were celebrating our marriage and the Manager went above and beyond to make our evening special 🥰🥰

We had visited in the past and really enjoyed the food here but it was apparent that they were not able to cope with a larger number of diners on New Year’s Eve, even though we had pre-booked a table so they had an idea of how many diners they were going to have. Very little food was left on the menu. Everything we tried to order, we were told was not available so after 3 attempts, it got to a point where we ordered things we didn’t really want. When the food arrived, some of it was also cold and had been waiting around for a while to be served. There were also no desserts on the menu which was disappointing. Such a shame when it appeared to be a good menu with lots of choice, the staff were polite and there was a good atmosphere.

Food was really tasty and plenty of it. 😊 Music a bit loud at times but that's just me 😜

The gourmet burger fad is still alive and thriving in Barnstaple at Latitude 48. Where it’s hard to tell which is more saucy: the cheeky names of their dishes or the food itself. The girls had the Flatbread chicken which they enjoyed enormously, the crispy skin of the chicken was delicious and generously portioned. The old man had the classic cheese burger and didn’t complain once, that itself speaks volumes. I had the bitchin chicken which was humongous. Skillfully grilled with perfectly balanced additions of cheese and salady bits. Unfortunately I didn’t have room to finish the firey chips. The staff are very attentive and friendly, mum and dad both got free shots because it was their birthday where as I enjoyed some good local ales. All in all a most enjoyable experience Im looking forward to repeating soon.

Loved this place! Service was great the staff were all lovely, attentive without being over bearing. We got started with some enjoyable drinks while we perused the menu. It was hard to choose as it all sounds delicious. We had the truffle mushrooms to share as a starter and wow. Creamy, garlicky, buttery and perfectly balanced with no one flavour overwhelming the dish. I could quite happily pop in there and have that for lunch any day of the week. It was very tasty and a comforting, warming dish in the cold. I had the smoked ribs and my husband had the big 48 burger and what can I say but yum. The smoked ribs were sticky and had a lovely bbq sauce that wasn't stupidly sweet but again nicely balanced. The meat fell off the bones, and you could really taste the lovely smokey, char grilled flavour of the meat. The sides were great and the skin on chips crisp, fluffy on the inside and weren't greasy. My husbands burger looked fantastic and he thoroughly enjoyed it, there wasn't a single bite left. We enjoyed every mouthful of this delicious dinner. The atmosphere was great, music wasn't too loud and you are in good lighting. On a side note I use an electric wheelchair and the interior and exterior are accessible. I popped down I was in a chair on the online reservation and there were no problems. Their layout already accommodates a wheelchair easily, no tables had to be moved for me to get through the restaurant or to be placed at a table. There is an accessible toilet and the smoking area out back is also accessible. For me it was a lovely experience from start to finish with no panicky concerns because of the chair. Really enjoyable evening and we will definitely be going back several more times!

If you're looking for a fun place to have a drink or some great food this is arguable the best place in town to go. Great selection of drinks and the food is great! Highly recommend the steak fondue and one of their great selection of beers!

Been out eating with friends in latitude 48 and WOW, the food was amazing, very tasty. The staff was very professional and had a lot of knowledge on the speciality beers and spirits. Would recommend latitude to anyone visiting or that live local.

Had lunch here today and it was absolutely gorgeous, I’m vegetarian and the options were varied and sounded delicious. I had a garden burger and halloumi fries and was gutted to not be able to finish it as it was really good. Love the vibe of the place, the staff were all friendly and it’s dog friendly too. Will most definitely visit again! A+++

We called in for a "light lunch" today and I ordered the Dee-Dog. Oh my word, it was delicious, huge portions, and the utmost quality. I was in a food coma for the afternoon. The smoked brisket melted in my mouth. Couple that with a great venue and brilliant staff - why go anywhere else? It is hands down the best restaurant in Barnstaple.

Nice clean modern bar and restaurant. I like the decor. Pool table,pinball and street fighter games to play and pass the time while drinking. Chanced upon this restaurant and was very impressed. Dog friendly, very welcoming staff, nice decor, great food (lots of interesting dishes) and really good prices (cheaper than chain restaurants!). I had the Sloppy Joe which was one of the best burgers I've ever tasted whilst the beer was tasty. If only this place was nearer where we live - we'd be regulars. The owners and staff should be proud of the place

I've been to Latitude 48 a lot since it first opened and have always been a massive fan, but recently they just seem to have stepped it up a notch! So much so that I felt like writing a review, not something I normally do! I recently went there with 3 colleagues from work and we shared some starters before I had the most incredible full rack of ribs you've ever seen! The meat was perfect and had an awesome smoky flavour which I'm told they do in-house. Quantity is usually an issue for me as nowhere does enough food, but this wooden board of chips, rings, slaw and ribs actually beat me! Washed it down with some of Beavertown's finest and had a quick game of Street Fighter on the way out! It's the only place I recommend when friends or family come to the area and the only place I opt for with colleagues. Easy 5 stars.

First visit on Friday evening. Staff were great - very welcoming and helpful. Food was good. I had the Falafel burger which was very tasty. The atmosphere was spot on. We will be coming back - I think the problem will be deciding what to eat as couldn't help but look at all the dishes coming out and everything looked so good.

Shocking service for take away drinks cheep dingy paper cups/not how a real decent milk shake should be presented an served for a takeaway of it was decent in the first place no real ice cream just milk an syrup for the price you pay wouldn’t go a miss for a real decent milkshake an take away cup

We were trying to decide on somewhere to eat for our daughters birthday. We have been to latitude for drinks many times and liked the atmosphere in the evening. We then decided to go for lunch and we are very glad we did. Food was great and reasonably priced and the staff were also great! Good range of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Would definitely recommend going here for food or drinks or both!!

Latitude 48 is a must-visit! Their 12-ounce ribeye steak was absolutely stunning, and the portion size was so generous that it guaranteed satisfaction. You won't leave hungry! 🥩😍

Brilliant recommendation from another restaurant that was fully booked. Verity & her colleagues were excellent. The food is great quality - if you have a big appetite, this is the place for you, as portions are on the large side but really flavoursome. Cocktails are very nice too 👍

Stopped in here for lunch whilst staying nearby on a busy Saturday in July. I opted for the Big 48 burger, which at nearly £17 is definitely not a cheap burger, but wow, what a burger. It was indeed big, and the flavours were amazing....

Superb; Wife and I dropped in for food before a film and was very impressed. Staff were friendly, love the buzzer system!! Food was great - Had crab cakes, and they actually tasted of crab (I know, but I've had loads of poor versions that are more potato than meat); The Big Fat Chicken platter was great, BBQ beans a perfect accompaniment, my wife had the ceaser salad with steak and it was a huge portion but all enjoyed. Price with a couple of drinks £50....well worth it.

Dog friendly! Great atmosphere in a busy and beautifully decorated place. Loads to choose from on the menu for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. I had the falafel flatbread, it was a decent sized portion! Very tasty and at £8.50 for the flatbread, crisps and side salad, reasonably priced as well. They serve alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The service was efficient and friendly. There's a cube on the table which you can light up when you want to order and when you're ready to pay the bill which was a nice touch. Would definitely return

I was down on business in Barnstaple for a few days and dropped into latitude 48 for drinks and meals! So glad we did as it was all absolutely top draw, staff were wicked, ambience was great and just a really nice place to be chatting away and enjoying the good food and service! Highly recommend 👌

Day tripper to town, but fortunate to find this bar/restaurant and so much more. Fantastic and interestingly named cocktail choice, as was the food menu.
