Las Tapas in Brentwood

Stunning dinner, been there twice and never disappointed. Dishes are fresh, taste lovely and of good portion sizes. Great wine which makes the perfect accompaniment. Will always be going back.

Table of 4 every1 had enjoyable food except for myself rice was hard and was told this is a normal paella. Never had undercooked rice on paella b4. Was also told chef and manager had tried it and was how its meant to be. Staff were totally rushed off there feet and took at least 40 mins to get a drink. Would not return again

One of the best meals we've had out in a long time. Every single dish surpassed the food we've eaten in Barcelona. Plus I was called Madam, which I loved!! The patatas fritas are to die for. Seriously a great experience.

Staff were attentive and service was good. The food however was disappointing. Tasty but very overpriced. Extremely Disappointed. I also can't bear it when service charges are added to the bill especially when the food is so overpriced. I would much rather tip in the traditional way.

The quality of food seems to vary each time I frequent the restaurant. The new menu doesn’t quite do the tastebuds the service they’ve become accustomed to over a few visits here.

I recently visited Las Tapas restaurant and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was just right- not too crowded, and the food was really tasty. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good dining experience.

Authentic cosy and quaint. Menu is great and the food is delicious. The Gambas which is my favourite was there and I tried Octopus leg - soft not chewy and delicate

They got my drink wrong when it came to our table then I had to speak to get it changed waited a long time for my cocktail to come to our table the one I ordered. Food came before the drinks which was strange. Value for money for what we paid. PS Don't go here when there is any xmas going on group party as we were a couple there service was not great 😕 Was so loud as I couldn't hear what my partner was saying to me as we were sitting opposite each.

This tapas restaurant is simply delightful! The food is incredibly delicious, and the small plates offer a great way to explore a variety of flavors. The cozy atmosphere adds to the overall charm of the dining experience. Highly recommended!

Wow. We dined here on Monday 30th Oct 2023. Truly this is one of the very best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Please move your restaurant to Tadcaster! The other stuff: the atmosphere was lovely, calm, peaceful. The vibe from the staff was very friendly and helpful, but also standing well back giving customers the chance to enjoy the food. Perfect. The main event was of-course the food. The flavours!! The tenderness, just everything was absolutely gorgeous. A couple of nights earlier we went to an awful place in Shenfield. They had a 'Tapas' menu, but nothing appealed, it was very noisy and one of the staff was shockingly rude......what a magnificent and stark contrast Las Tapas was! If you are looking to eat in the area, I'd stick to Brentwood, whether you choose Las Tapas or not, it's much better than Shenfield. Can I fault Las Tapas? No. It does cost, but the standard of the food easily justifies a few extra quid. I can't wait to go there again. Ever since I've been looking online trying to get recipes and directions to see if I can recreate some of that magic at home. It was the medallions and the flavours that went with it! I found one of the sauces, so I'll have a go. Thank you, we'll be back.

The best dining experience I’ve had, me and my partner tried on a whim and now we can’t wait to go back.. we’ve gone a few times now and will continue!

Atmosphere was good but you only get a 2 hour slot. Tapas was overpriced and not very good. Paella that I had was stodgy and overcooked. Everyone else's food arrived 10 minutes before mine. Dessert was not good either. Eton mess was just 1 strawberry, 1 scoop of ice cream , Berry juice. A crushed up shop bought meringue nest and squirty cream. Not as described on the menu. We all left disappointed.

Very small place on high street - met a friend for lunch. Didn’t know anything about the place and it didn’t look much but the food was amazing! Had paella and some tapas dishes abd they were all delicious. The churros and ice cream was absolutely delicious! 100% recommend this place, will definitely be back.

Having lived in Spain for around 15 years before returning back to the UK, I can honestly say the dishes are the most authentic I have tasted anywhere. Absolutely fantastic setting and service. Just perfect...we will be back soon

Some of the best tapas I've eaten outside of Spain! Really good menu, lovely staff and superb food. The croquettes and chorizo picante were highlights of a very good meal.

This place is really incredible. I was here for my boyfriend's birthday and everything was perfect. The food is very delicious and the best of all is the staff. They are very friendly, attentive, they gave us excellent service, thank you all for the great service. I recommend this place 100%

Excellent choice of Spanish tapas dishes. Good flavours in all dishes, really recommend the chorizo croquettes and the costillas ( ribs ). Compliments to the chef and the waitress for excellent service. Extremely tasty food, thank you.

It was a late lunch with friends. No problem in getting a table, perfectly good service and good food too.

A lovely meal and good wine served by Jamie . A polite and attentive young man who worked non stop throughout our 2 and half hour visit . There was a tiny hic up with the bill which he sorted very professionally. We will be back

Very expensive for small portions in comparison with other tapas bars I have visited. Didn't like the fact they added a service charge. Disappointed. Will not return.

Presentation and staff are brilliant here. Sangria is a must have with your meal. Always love roasted peppers and these were some of the best I’ve had. Alright value for money and would recommend a few dishes per person.

We went as a family group of 5. Food is good but the quantities are not great. We paid £45 per head (including a drink each), but were still hungry at the end of the meal. Service was good and the place has a nice atmosphere.

That was an amazing night for us ! We had a big party with my work colleagues more less 20 - 25 ppl ! And the food like how we want it, especially tapas (nibbles) with some spanish beer hit the spot !!! We’ll definitely come back again ! Thanks for the good hospitality guys 👍🏼

It was incredibly delicious, everything seemed special, we felt like kings. The staff were excellent and always smiling.

In a county where it is close to impossible to have a great dining experience, Las Tapas was a real gem! We had old friends visiting from abroad and were looking for a local, high quality place that could accomodate seven on a somewhat short notice. Vel was very acommodating, from booking to special requests, with excellent suggestions and deep knowledge of Spanish tapas culture, as well as perfect wine combination. The dishes were all delicious (Arroz Negro was to die for!), the room mood was delightful and intimate, even the matching soundtrack made it for a perfect evening among friends. My wife and I will definitely return there on a date.

Food was overpriced for its portion. The paella we ordered had raw shrimp. The food tasted average, no speciality. A bit disappointing.

Went to the restaurant to celebrate with my other half! We was very disappointed with the food. The salad tasted like it was from sainsbury’s or Icelands. I asked for a large coke and then saw the barman pour half a can in a glass. My husbands cocktail was very bland and tasted like orange juice. The waitress was a bit weird I really couldn’t understand. It was very overprice! I won’t be returning here again

Very poor, the food was average but very overpriced. We went for a Valentine’s Day meal but was not told when we booked the restaurant or when they called us to take a deposit that there would be a different menu. This was very poor for vegans and it was £50 a head to have six small peppers, 5 bits of raw broccoli, a few chips and no dessert as nothing was vegan. The service was good as usual and the waitress was friendly and polite however the fact that we were not told about the limited menu was very disappointing. We came out having not enjoyed the food and still hungry. It definitely ruined our Valentine’s Day and even though we previously liked this restaurant we will not be recommending it or returning.

Very slow service, the plan of everyone arriving at the same time for the 8.15 sitting doesn’t work. Food turns up very randomly, first dish before the drinks last 5th dish an hour and half later.

I would like to state before i post this review, i am a very fair person. Where do I start.. my partner and I are locals and we were looking forward to trying this tapas bar. It was a Tuesday evening so really quiet, there was literally on one else other than us. The first thing my partner was told as we walked in, was that the kitchen shut at 9pm (we arrived at 8pm but had booked a table) i felt this was quite rude. The young boy working was quite short with us, wasn't particularly welcoming. We ordered sangria, the chorizo with humuus, meatballs, padron peppers and potatoes bravas. The food came out within 5 minutes which was suspicious. The food was average, the meatballs were probably what I liked best. The potatoes were rock hard crispy on outside but with no potato in them. I am positive they were frozen, possibly from Iceland with a bit of paprika sprinkled on them. I actually complained about them and asked that they be taken off the bill as they were not edible. Thankfully, they were removed from our bill, which was probably the only highlight of the evenjng. The young boy who served us, was the same person who greeted us, took plates away without even asking if we had finished. He made us feel almost like we had to rush because he wanted to get home. It was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, we were really disappointed. We won't be returning. The money we paid for the meal and experience just wasn't feasible and as for the service, if you work in hospitality, which I have done myself, expect late evenings. It is all about friendly customer service. If you don't enjoy this type of work and want to be home early, hospitality isn't for you.

The food was fantastic, we went as a group of 20 and not one person could find a single fault with the food. The staff were incredibly attentive and it was an all round great experience, would definitely go again.

A little bit of Spain flavours. Fantastic and cosy little place at the high street. We liked it. Lovely flavours, but the prices are staggering concider the size of the dishes is very small. £43,75 for 2 person, 2 Coca-Cola none alcohol drink. Far too expensive. A 10p size of croquetas is far too small for the price following the other dishes. I have never seen such small croquettes until today. Lovely place, cosy and welcoming. Staff are friendly and helpful. Hygiene, there is space for improvement.

Went to this restaurant in Brentwood on 4.6.22 and would never visit again. The calamari was like burnt rings, the potato bravas were like crisps, and not very tasty ones at that, the seafood paella was like a red rice pudding with 3 x mussels,...

Overall pretty good with a nice variety. The dishes are quite filling and you'll need about 3 to 4 plates. Although not overly expensive, some of the dishes were not worth the price. Still worth the visit though.

Below average tapas food for premium prices. I feel bad writing this review because the staff were lovely but a tapas restaurant shouldn't be getting aioli wrong!

We loved the service. Everyone was lovely. However... There is a serious hygiene problem. The food, while not bad by any means, isn't great. This is only a real problem because the prices are staggering. Too expensive. We really hoped this would become a favorite. Unfortunately, we're unlikely to come back.

Lovely food, but tiny portions and each piece of food came out once at a time between 7 people!! For £25 you get a piella, consisting of 3 prawns, 4 mussels and some melon. Crap.

Only customers in there, food was ok but nothing to rave about. Very overpriced! serrano ham cut too thick (being a spanish citizen for 20 years, i know this) bread toasted with a burnt taste. Garlic mayo tasted of just mayo.

£35 for 3 dishes.....3 pieces of chorizo, soggy calamari and approx 10 prawns. So not happy with this order.

Very good and authentic Spanish food (note the prawns in garlic sauce and the ox cheek on garlic mash) and very good value.

Our first visit was tonight here with my partner. Food was freshly made amazing flavours. You may need more plate to fill you up but absolutely worth it. I think you pay for a great experience. Service was absolutely friendly caring by the two lady who took care of us. Drinks were nice too. My partner loved the little wine jug. Atmosphere was nice warm cozy and friendly. I can highly recommend to anyone who just want to have a nice evening and don’t go there just to complain about every little thing!

Always cracking food. Service was a little slow on Wednesday, we ordered 2 Tapas dishes as starters, then big plates as mains, but they were served a bit topsy turvy. It didn't detract from the quality of the food, however. Very reasonably priced wine list, with some interesting Spanish whites.

We booked for lunch on Thursday afternoon having noticed this attractive little place the week before . We ordered dishes from the tapas menu and my son had a cajun chicken burger for mains . I had the prawns which were fantastic with sweet slices...

Food was amazing from the first taste. Everyone enjoyed and wanted more. We had paella and pasta and both was tasting heaven. We finished with couple of Eton mess wich comple perfectly the night. For sure we will be back here.

No standout dishes at all. Could have made better myself. Poor example of a tapas restaurant. Even the paella was a let down, tasted like reheated tomato mushy rice.
