Turkish restaurant is the best as always, I had nice dinner in Fat Turk , everything was great and really enjoined.

First time eating here last night with some friends. Spent some time upstairs at the bar having cocktails as we arrived 45 minutes before our table time, lovely bar, great atmosphere and decor. Amazing restaurant, excellent attentive staff, food is exceptional quality and price is beyond reasonable!! Would 100% recommend anyone to try this place you won’t be disappointed! Will be back very soon

We visited the Fat Turk on a lazy late Friday afternoon. The place was busy, we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. The staff are extremely polite, helpful, and very tentative. The service is quick but gives you enough time to have a good conversation (if you know what I mean). The food was very tasty. For our starters we had the Humus (8.5/10), sujuk (10/10), and the bread (10/10).. for our mains we had the lamb kofte durum (8.5/10) and the lamb beti (10/10). All of these hit the spot! For desserts we got a Baklava to share (9/10). So overall it was a great experience and one I would definitely revisit.

This is a stylish venue serving a tasty, well presented meze selection. The downside was that the service was slow and patchy, and a table with a larger party of around 6 guys was making so much noise that it was impossible for us to have conversation.

Great experience, the restaurant has a very classy feel and we were welcomed very warmly by staff. We opted for the surf and turf share platter which was out of this world, the meat was top quality and cooked to perfection, the platter also coming with a range of sides to completment the vast meat selection! Beer and wine was excellent and the atmosphere was good even though it was quite an early Wednesday dinner sitting. Highly recommend Turkish in Essex and I shall definitely be returning to the fat turk !

Nice food but quite expensive and service charges added on to bill without concent

The restaurant is beautiful But the food is horrible and very expensive for the quality served. Chicken is not juicy and tender at all. No flavour Rib eye steak is cut into small pieces served with onion and 5 slices of chips. Not like your usual turkish restaurants I do not recommend

Everything was good apart from music wasn't very good to listen too & where we were sitting was looking through the window which you could see people sitting at traffic lights,a blind would make it a little more private. Food was delightful & service👌

Food wasn't as nice as before and there wasn't any bread and dips served till we asked for some when our mains come out. Starters was nice but some of the mains in our group were bland. You can get better lunch deals elsewhere for under 20 pound.

A party of 6 Out to celebrate our engagement ! The food was awful 😖 it was so salty 2 people couldn't eat it the waitress came over and said she would speak to someone about it and never returned to the table she was miserable as sin . Male waiter reduced bill by removing the 2 meals, he offered a drink , which was no more than a thimble full..which was a final insult Owner came over to apologise, we paid the bill then left. Sorry to say we won't be returning

Great atmosphere and the best service I’ve received for a long time. Starting with a lovely person making reservations on the phone and ending with warm goodbye from the staff. Beautiful, clean building. Bathrooms nice and clean. Delicious starters, chicken shish and lamb pasta. Definitely will be back!!

It's just the usual pub grub you get anywhere now days over priced with poor service sorry nothing special.

I booked the long room for a 50th birthday dinner and it was amazing. The food, service and ambience was 10/10. I would highly recommend for a private function!

The food was delicious, lunch time menu had a good selection to choose from. Service was spot on. All the staff where very friendly, polite and helpful. Very stylish and comfortable surroundings. Very clean, toilets spotlessly clean. Highly recommend. And will most definitely be returning there myself..

This place is ok, charges similar to some of the better Turkish restaurants but does NOT deliver when it comes to food. Had a chicken burger that was simply a chicken breast with some butter on it. Food was burnt and then turned over to make it servable.

Nice cozy restaurant!Polite staff!Food tasted so good!The only donwside part is that is overpriced comparing with other Turkish restaurants and portion side is not included de pitta bread.I have ordered mix shish and came in with only 1 salad in a small bowl and 3 small sides(sauces) -despite of being 5 at the table :( Also the cost of the beer is 6.5 £ -a bit exaggerated :)I do enjoy Turkish food but this place disappointed me I am afraid! However was not very crowded on Sunday evening,only 3 table so we had intimate atmosphere!

Unfortunately, we experienced a very disappointing evening and terrible customer service at this restaurant for my Husbands 30th Birthday in the Private Dining Room. Drunk strangers kept entering the room trying to cause trouble with our party – staff failed to remove them / keep them away. They continued to cause trouble in the bar area with another family when we were trying to settle our bills. This resulted in the staff leaving the bar and management having to call the police as there is zero security in place. The policy on the website clearly states “Management reserve the right to refuse entry to any person or remove any person who in their opinion is causing a nuisance or disruption to other diners.” and yet they failed to adhere to their own policy. We had to physically shut ourselves in the Private Dining room whilst these people were removed from the bar because we were all so concerned how things could escalate, we had 4 pregnant women in our party, myself being 31 weeks pregnant. This made me feel extremely anxious and on edge. We had a minimum spend to have the room for the whole evening which we not only met but exceeded by a great deal. Only to find our evening being ruined and cut short as we had to leave when they closed early because of the trouble caused by others. I said to the manager how upset we were about this as it is my husbands 30th and people had travelled far to celebrate, he simply replied, “well it isn’t my fault”. I have emailed the restaurant direct to complain and hoped they would rectify the situation by refunding some of the bill due to the inconvenience caused, they failed to answer any of my questions regarding why their own policies were not adhered to and why they do not have security in place. The restaurant themselves have stated 'the festive season does mean that some people do not act sensibly or rationally' - well they should have staff that are capable of dealing with this or employ security to do so. I was offered a voucher to attend the restaurant another time, which I kindly declined as we do not feel comfortable or want to return to the restaurant and the amount doesn't even cover the cost we paid for our meal. Since I replied to this email mid December they have ignored me ever since. Awful customer service! My advise is don't bother, go elsewhere where your custom will be appreciated.

First time here for Christmas party from work. Really nice place, beautiful festive decor, lovely atmosphere. My colleagues enjoyed the cocktails especially the daiquiri and martinis. They where also impressed by the tequila shots and great baklava- Turkish dessert. They ate lots of shish and meats that seemed very nice and smelled yummy as we're grilled. Personally I enjoyed my vegan humus starter which had delicious grilled peppers and the Fat turk ratatouille - grilled vegetables with delicious dressing. Also the vegan dessert with Swiss vegan chocolate and raspberries sorbet and fresh strawberries was perfect. We all had a wonderful time and great party. Next time I will come with my family or friends.

To my surprise, it is the first restaurant that refused me entry with a child, we arrived at 4:30 pm and the reason was that after 5 pm we can no longer have access with minor children at dinner time, we were approached by a very rude manager arrogant, I do not recommend this disgusting location to anyone.

Excellent meal here last week. Sat outside on the terrace on a lovely evening, the food was delicious and plentiful. Couldn't fault a thing, even my gluten intolerance was noted from the booking and the GF menu was brought out for me without even asking 😃 excellent level of service!!! Will definitely be dining back here again.

Tried my best to keep it an average score. Not the best of Turkish cuisine but I'm aware people are limited in that area. Food average. Calamari from frozen so chewy. Staff a little arrogant.

Ate here at lunch time yesterday and really enjoyed it. The portions are huge and everything was so flavoursome. The waiters are lovely too!

Only popped in for a drink, but the food looked and smelt amazing, so we ordered starters, and they came out in less than 4 minutes! The flavours were on point. Very friendly staff and great chilled atmosphere.

Attended a family birthday party and hired the top floor. What a fabulous venue, the staff were exceptionally helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very varied and traditional. Very well presented and so so tasty. Atmosphere was amazing and luxurious surroundings. Would definitely go again. Thanks everybody for a welcoming great experience.

Delicious meze, great shish, fantastic service. One of the best Suçuk I've tasted & the baklava is sublime. Was here a couple of years ago for a business lunch. Glad to say standards have not slipped. Great venue for lunch or dinner with a champagne bar upstairs for those special occasions. Recommended.

Ain’t gonna lie one of the best Turkish food I had and the price is good, worth it

On arrival, we were seated, then, after about 15 minutes, we were asked a drink order, we literally got a drink and a food without straight away very small portions no real effort made not even any bread to go with the dips. I don’t know what the dips for for? Wine was disgusting and majorly overpriced. Needless to say, won’t be returning. Very disappointed at the whole experience.

Food is tasty yes. But £13 pounds for 4 small prawns it's a bit too much.

I came here quite by accident and was pleasantly surprised! The staff were efficient and welcoming. The menu seems quite varied for lunch. The prices though were not that competitive. The interior is nicely decorated and the ambience is most pleasant too.

Great ambience and local pub. Food is okay, steak wasn’t great. Requested a waiter to take a picture and he said he will help right after, but never did. Someone else helped with that later though.

Recently visited this Turkish restaurant for lunch and was impressed by the decor. The ambiance was modern and inviting giving me high hopes for the food. However, when it came to the food, I found it to be very average, something you could easily get at a Turkish takeaway. Furthermore, the service was very slow, despite there being only two other tables served. We had to wait a long time for my food to arrive, and the server was not very attentive. Additionally, the prices were very high for the quality of the food and the service. Overall, while the decor was nice, the food and service left much to be desired. I would probably not recommend this restaurant to others looking for an authentic Turkish dining experience.

Dined in with 16 of us for a Saturday dinner. Some of us arrived earlier than 6pm and some arrived later than 6pm. The server who’s named Haki according to our receipt is quite pushy and rude. We didn’t enjoyed our stay because we felt being rushed whilst pushed to order more food and drinks. He kept telling us he has customers but we are also customers. Food are acceptable but ofcourse pricey which we don’t mind. But the service just ruined it. Huge parking lot available Toilets are nicely decorated

Was disappointed in the food to be honest. My steak was meant to be rare but was closer to well done.

We first went to the Fat Turk Restaurant 7 years ago and rated it 8 out of 10. Revisited a few times after. Based on our previous experience, we went there today for a celebratory Sunday lunch. We all gave it a 8/10 for food and 6/10 for service!!! Main issues… 1. Waitress looked gloomy and stood at the bar watching the guested eat 2. Asked for salt and pepper for the table. Was brought. Soon after, the next table asked for pepper - a senior member of staff came and stood between our tables and asked if we were finished with the pepper. Then took it from our table and put it on the table next to us!!! That’s the kind of thing you’d expect from a greasy spoon cafe, not a relatively posh restaurant. To top it all, we paid £220 in cash for our Bill of ££218.50 for 4 people (no desserts), service WAS included. The same senior member of staff did NOT come back with our £1.50 change!!! Really!?!? He took it for granted that we wouldn’t want the change back. Another less senior member was told about the change but still we were not offered it. I mean really?

The food at this place was amazing we went for a birthday as it’s a brilliant place to go for an occasion, so much flavour in all the dishes and the staff were very friendly.

Came here for a surprise 60th birthday beautiful looking place, staff friendly, just a shame about the food not nice, no flavour meat lamb/ chicken dry & chewy a lot of money for what we had.

Lovely lunch today with family and amazing food,great service. My only critique is making sense having disabled access at the rear of the entrance rather than a fire exit type door at the front and having to wheel my mum up tge hill to the front. It wouldnt put me off returning but with all the refurb it would of been nice to enter the restaurant by a ramp on the car park entrance

Not happy with the service received at all. The waiter support was lacklustre and staff were rude, the food was rushed out and we were promptly served the bill. Felt like they wanted to rush us or of the door.

I can’t express how disappointed we are with our meal this time. I telephoned the restaurant to let them know but unfortunately the gentleman I spoke to didn’t seem to be interested. The Fat Turk has lost us as customers and our friends and family as we will be letting them know not to bother. Such a shame as we had high hopes of another expensive but delicious meal….so disappointing!

Lovely ambience, tasty food & cocktail, excellent service. Bit pricey for the portion of food served. However, other reasons outweigh the higher price! Must visit if you are around and looking for a date night or a family/office get together!

Authentic Turkish food, fine dinning

We book a meal for my friends 40th birthday here, I asked if they had music and a bar on site. They Assured me that there was,but sadly when we arrived we got was they had hired the bar for a private Function , I thought this was terrible as its Christmas month and everyone was stuck on there tables. If we new they could book a private function between us booking and going we would have never booked . Please be aware of this

1st time visitors, food was lovely and service great

Food was amazingly delicious. Portion is pretty good. Obviously it's pricey, but really worth to try it out. Once you get your food, it's hard to get hold of the waitress. But overall it was pretty good experience. On the other hand, it was super noisy and loud so I could hardly hear my wife sitting 20cm next to me and we were seated next to grill so it was too hot for me. If you desire a better place to sit, then I recommend to pre-book it.

Went for a meal here with the wife. Got babysitters and had every intention of living it large for the evening. Got there and could have fallen asleep in the dinner. Not related to the restaurant just the effects of a number of years of marriage combined with numerous small children. Food was fantastic and I hope to return again one day with a few more hours sleep under our belts along with some pre organised conversation suggestions.

Always the best, this place is at the top of our restaurant list! The staff always remember us and are so friendly and courteous.

Great facilities and well decorated. Toilets and parking are so well looked after that I want to visit the place again. The olives tree are a charm.
