Lantana in Camden

Yesterday I had a breakfast there, overall, I was quite happy with the food—it was well-prepared and enjoyable. However, my experience was overshadowed by a billing issue. After returning home and reviewing my online receipt, I realized that I had been charged twice for my breakfast (£16.50). Since I don’t live in London, I’m unable to return in person to request a refund, which is quite frustrating. While I acknowledge that I should have checked the receipt at the time of payment, I was caught up in conversation with an old friend and didn’t notice the mistake. It’s disappointing to leave with a good dining experience only to later feel misled due to an overcharge. I would strongly recommend that the restaurant double-checks receipts before processing payments to prevent this from happening to other customers.

Lovely place with a very tasty menu. I really enjoyed my dish (adabo pork) and got a taste of the fried chicken french toast which was also amazing. Even though I found it expensive (as everything in London) I feel that it was worth it. The dishes were exceptional and different than other brunch/breakfast places. A really interesting place which I will probably visit again.

Such a disappointment, once a nice place with a real Australian vibe. I've ordered a chai latte, not a lot of flavour there as it tasted just like milk and a cold piece of banana bread that I'm not sure had any real bananas inside. When asked if it could get toasted, the answer was "are you sure? The kitchen is busy and it will take 10 minutes". The "busy" word echoed in a semi empty room. The Australian food experience means quality food, good vibe and customer service. Not sure if I can say any of these can be found here. I really hope I was just unlucky.

A fantastic little breakfast spot with a buzzing atmosphere using fresh quality ingredients. The coffee is also great. Two breakfasts and coffee will come to around £55ish so it’s a bit pricey, then again central London. I found the full English (forgot the proper name) and the chorizo hash to be oily but that’s what some might expect for a breakfast, that’s me being picky. Tasted great and service was very helpful and smiley.

I quite enjoyed the food to be honest, and the chips were delicious! The hot drink however was a bit disappointing. I order a chai and it tasted more like hot milk, whereas my friend ordered a latte and she said it didn’t feel like there was any coffee in there. But otherwise the food is delicious!

Really love the vibe. The hot chocolate was good but I’ve definitely had better. The chocolate brownie was very good! Really friendly staff and chill vibes.

The food tasted so good; I’d say it even exceeded London’s food standards. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The only downside was the compact seating, but that’s typical for Fitzrovia.

A cosy and elegant place. The food is amazing (I can’t recommend the French toast with fried chicken enough) and the drinks are very good. Should come back one day to try the cocktails!

The food and coffee was delicious and the staff was friendly. We didn’t like, that we had to pay a 14% service charge. It felt like a scam, because if you wanted to take the service charge of the bill, you had to ask the staff in front of the whole restaurant. No one wants to seem like a cheap person. Serving some plates and drinks and trying to get you out as fast as possible should not cost you 14% of your already expensive meal. A slice of bread with some avocado and one poached egg for close to 20£ and a waffle with some pieces of chicken and one single fried egg for also close to 20£ is just to much. Take of the service charge or find a way in between. People should decide them self how much they want to pay you as a tip or you should include it already in your pricing. We would definitely not come back again.

[Edited] Went back to Lantana today but was quite disappointed with 2 things: 1) We had food and ordered a second coffee, as soon as the coffee arrived we were told we had 5 mns before the next table had to be sat (we had only been sitting there for 1h05mns) - we should have been given more time and warned before ordering the coffee which we then had to take away 2) The avo toast taste and quality had gone back significantly but is pricier than it was [Initial Review] Amazing food (best avo toast) and greaaat service 💕

Apareció en la oportunidad de desayunar. Nos ofrecieron una pequeña mesa de mostrador en la esquina, no hay otros disponibles. No hay problema, pensamos en ir a otro lugar, ya que el gerente estaba un poco fuera con nosotros! Lástima, siempre me gustó Lantana. No es barato, pero de vez en cuando vale la pena una visita. Pero no si los empleados groseros te dicen que te apartes del camino (la grosería nunca es necesaria) ¡Mi amigo se sorprendió, al igual que yo! De todos modos fuimos a un nuevo lugar fabuloso en la calle Mortimer llamado 'Watch House'. Gran desayuno y un servicio muy amable y educado. Muy bonito, de hecho.

Staff was kind BUT Service was so slow…food order was wrong…items from the menu were missing…final bill was also wrong (bunch of extras charged we did not order) and a 14% service charge added to the bill as a final surprise.

Coffee and cake were amazing! The staff were lovely and the vibe was great.

They have a system to pay on your phone which would be great cos who likes having to flag a server to pay at the end… however they added on a fee to do this?! And a service charge of 14% which you could only remove by asking a member of staff. Also they added on a charity donation without consent. And they charged £1 for water too?! We didn’t even receive the water. My friend was too awkward to ask to have it removed so we paid it. I guess they just want to take advantage of people who don’t want to make a fuss, which I’d imagine is a significant proportion of the British public. Anyway, the coffee was nice and the cake was fine, a bit dry though and I was given the end piece. My friend liked the vegan chocolate cake. The whole place is a bit cramped so I wouldn’t recommend eating in. The seats weren’t particular spacious or comfortable.

La comida estaba bien, y no puedo culparlos por eso. Sin embargo, cuando llegó el proyecto de ley, era muy caro para dos platos de comida y un par de cafés, incluso para Londres. Es sólo un café un poco elegante y olvidable. No me esforzaría por comer aquí otra vez.

Big zero, food doesn’t smell good, I tool smashed avocado with grilled Halloumi on the side - can’t be eaten at all! Service is terrible, server is terrible. His food is not good, he never eats it. Praise be to God for the blessing - service is a complete destruction.

Average place very overpriced. The food was ok…average flavor, size, ingredients Same for the ambient, it’s ok but nothing special to highlight. For us something to complaint is all the extra services that comes with the receipt: - You have to scan a QR code to pay and it cost you 1 pound (?) - There’s an amount dedicated to a non profit charity (1,4 pounds) - 14% for tip…which is “optional” but comes already in the total and you need to ask the waiter to take it out…very uncomfortable situation for us as customers even though we were going to leave tip because the service was really good and the waitress was super nice Overall I don’t recommend…70 pounds for avocado toast, French toast and a regular dish. It’s too much for what you get

14% service charge is outrageous. The corn fritters were all in all awful - weird batter and dry - there was in total about 4 spinach leaves on my plate and a tiny amount of avocado. And the service was not the best.

Second time at Lantana and both times I left disappointed. Had the corn fritters that were clearly undercooked, tasting really bad. Not sure if batter was off or wrong or whatever. Spoken with the waitress and she acknowledged the issue. Pretty bad that the kitchen sent it like that.

The food was delicious but our overall experience was poor. The server was very stressed because someone had called in sick and another person had walked out. He voiced this to every customer that came in and kept apologising to us, it ruined the atmosphere and our overall experience. A 14% service charge took us by suprise, I would of happily tipped 10% but automatically adding 14% was cheeky. To get it taken off you had to ask the server, who was so stressed at this point we just left it. Personally I wouldn't come back.

Food here is always on point and the coffee is good.

I had high hopes for this place but really wasn’t very impressed. Food super overpriced for the quality. Service underwhelming. They also make you pay online via a qr code which then charges you extra for using the online payment? Overall ended up being an unusually expensive brunch despite the quality being meh. There are lots of other better brunch spots nearby.

Comida muy sabrosa. Tardó en llegar, pero eso es porque está recién cocinado para nosotros. El personal era muy profesional y servicial. Gente muy agradable. El ambiente es acogedor, así que cuando está ocupado, puede ser bastante ruidoso. Tenía mi libro listo, pero en su lugar terminé en mi teléfono, ya que no podía concentrarme mucho. Recuerda que si estás buscando un lugar tranquilo, tal vez no en el almuerzo 😊 Ofrecen WiFi y lo más increíble es que tienen un sistema de donación donde donar £ 1 por cada botella de agua del grifo que solicite. Una gran manera de hacer una pequeña diferencia aquí y allá. El pan plano de chorizo es suficiente para una persona si no tienes uno principal. ¡Tenía un pudín y un moca súper sabroso! Todo encantador.

Really lovely little cafe. We went there for Sunday brunch. Service was prompt and friendly. We had the beef brisket hash and it was delicious. There were other tasty looking items on the menu so we will definitely be back to try those out.

Unfortunately you can’t rely on the booking system here. When you book, it’s not a booking, it’s a request. And if you then don’t hear anything, it means they are fully booked (they don’t send an email to say that they are fully booked). Definitely need a system which is customer focused and shows what’s actually available.

Super friendly and nice staff. The food is amazing! So indulging! Exactly what we expected from authentic and creative Aussie brunch! Highly recommended! Especially if you come on a sunny day and sit outside…very nice vibe! We loved the fried chicken french toast and the corn fritters. SO GOOD. Best halloumi I’ve had! Coffee is on point too! Don’t miss out on the freshly made herbal tea! I’m still thinking about the honey, lemon and ginger (fresh) tea…

Very long wait time to get served. Super weird food menu for breakfast. Got charged an extra £2 to switch from a fried egg to scrambled eggs. Avocados had black stuff in them. A black coffee turned up 15 mins after the food. Would never come back here again.

My wife and I enjoyed a healthy and delicious lunch in their outdoor seating area. Our server Micala was delightful! Great option for lunch a quick cab ride from the British Museum.

You must go to breakfast with a reservation. Otherwise you may have to wait. But even if there is an empty table, you cannot sit even if someone does not come for about 1 hour. Breakfasts were delicious.

Exceptional flat white, for me the perfect mix of coffee and oat milk. Really good smashed avo and excellent orange juice. Absolutely worth a visit, interesting location as well.

Food was tasty although portions are not massive. Service was very friendly and their cookies are to die for!

The service was amazing but we were surprised to have a 14% tip auto added and then asked if we wanted to add a further tip onto the bill, plus a charge for using the online payment method which you have no choice but to use. My sisters also didn’t enjoy her halloumi and avo on toast as the halloumi was soggy and uncooked. The rest of the food was good though and the service was great, just a shame about the extra charges

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Rice was super sticky in big clumps, spring roll had grease dripping off of it, chicken balls were soggy and didn't taste right and the ribs came in deep fried crumbs. Won't eat there ever again, definitely disappointed.

What a fantastic lunch spot. Amazing coffees, very tasty food and the friendliest service. Would highly recommend and I will return whenever I'm in London. Also highly recommend the nasi goreng, one of the best I've ever had.
