We went to Holborn Dining Room for my wife’s birthday. From the moment we entered this magnificent space, the service was exceptional. Our waiter was incredibly patient and extremely knowledgeable about the gin options they offer. The atmosphere and architecture are a solid 10/10, the service is 10/10, and the food presentation is also 10/10. However, the food itself was a bit of a letdown. Since it was my wife’s birthday, we chose not to say anything. While I’d still recommend this place for the experience and ambiance, I don’t think I’d return for a second visit.

Still one of my favourite places. Went here for dinner with my wife, as it was my birthday. Great atmosphere, well catered for by the attentive staff. Food was also great. A bit pricey but definitely one for a good treat or special occasion. Pies are always a good choice.

Experience in this very elegant venue within a prestigious hotel. Let me start by saying that we don't give 5 stars for the price, if it's true that we didn't care about the cost but we were interested in the overall experience, with €50 more we had a Michelen star experience by the sea. Beyond this reflection, everything was perfect. The place has its London magic, elegant, soft but overall informal, I would say very characteristic. The staff was also impeccably trained, very international, affable but always discreet, truly a gem. We went there to try the pies and gins from their gin bar. All very good, prepared with care and with first choice ingredients, from truffles to meat to vegetables with butter. We had a great time, they have their own gin that we loved, and a good choice of wines by the glass. My advice is to go there and have fun without thinking about the bill, which will be salty :-) but in line with London prices from what I've seen.

The food is filling but not worth it for the price you pay. The waiter keeps changing the position of our cutleries and dropped a cola over a customer next table. Also find it absurd that it charges a 15% VAT which the service doesn’t justify the price. I ordered a steak pie but the beef is very chunky, far from tender and overall pie experience is quite disappointing. I used to like their pies a lot but I think the quality has dropped massively over the years. Do not recommend and I feel like a rip off. There are better places in London.

Esta fue la primera y sin duda no será la última visita a este restaurante realmente espléndido para esta cena familiar en la "Pie Room" que fue contratado para la noche. A su llegada le recibieron muy amablemente y se le mostró a la zona de comer "Pie Room" - que en realidad es una cocina para hacer pasteles durante el día - y un comedor privado por la noche. Mi esposa y yo fuimos aquí por su cumpleaños, después de escucharlo de varias críticas diferentes y un segmento en el Saturday Morning de James Martin hace un par de años. No nos decepcionaron. Era un placer culinario para el sentido. La decoración del comedor es excelente, uno de los edificios más bonitos que he visto y un montón de espacio para los comensales. El personal era muy atento y siempre venía a preguntar si todo está bien con la comida, dispuesto a charlar y conocía el menú increíblemente bien. Tuvimos masa madre para empezar, que salió todavía caliente y olía increíble. el sabor era igualmente impresionante. Mi esposa tenía Pollo, Champiñón, puerro y tarta de estragón, con puré de crema coagulada a un lado. La tarta se cocinó a la perfección, explotando con todos los sabores que se complementó bien con la salsa proporcionada, que era muy rica y llena de sabor. El puré fue el más suave y cremoso que hemos probado. Tenía la tarta de cerdo con patatas fritas triples cocidas a un lado. Una vez más el pastel se cocinó a la perfección, con la mezcla adecuada de pimienta y hierbas. Good service, great atmosphere, but the pies need work. The pastry is nice but the filling in my steak and ale pie was so dry. It was basically huge chunks of beef wrapped in pastry. No sauce whatsoever. A thick, tasty sauce is one of the main joys of pie - it's worth putting the effort in to make one. Gravy on the side is not the same. The beef chunks were also too big, which is especially unappetising when there's no sauce to help it go down. We were a table of 8 and the final bill came to a pricey £65 per head. For this we got a small pie each, 2 x small sprouts, 2 x small chips and 2 x small mash for the table, approx 2 x small glasses of red wine each, and 2 x puddings for the table. Very poor value. The expensive bill would have been easier to feel OK about if it was clear they'd made more effort with the pie filling (although even if they had, it still would've been overpriced). For £65 per head, I would expect the best pie in London, more than two small glasses of wine, at least one pudding each (not just two for the table), and coffee or a cocktail to top it all off! Alas, not the case. Nice evening with friends for the service, the surroundings and the company, but the dry pie and high bill mean we probably won't come again. It's a shame as it has the potential to be better.

Esta cervecería dice ofrecer “lo mejor de la cocina británica”. Esa no fue nuestra experiencia: pagamos mucho por una comida bastante ordinaria. Éramos una fiesta de cinco, atraídos sobre todo por la reputación de los pasteles. Elegimos una tarde temprano. El lugar es grande y muy bien diseñado con un montón de luces centelleantes. Lamentablemente, el menú está impreso en un tipo muy pequeño en papel rosa y sin usar las antorchas en nuestros teléfonos, ¡ninguno de nuestro partido pudo leerlo! Pedimos entrantes y cuatro de nosotros pedimos tartas y uno el salmón, con verduras para compartir. El servicio fue atento y amable. Los titulares estaban bien, pero no sobresalientes. La sopa de cebolla francesa era razonablemente auténtica, aunque demasiado dulce. Los pasteles fueron una decepción, con una corteza seca dura y un relleno que no mostró muchos signos de cocina de alta calidad. El salmón estaba bien cocido, pero se servía simplemente con salsa mínima y ni siquiera una rodaja de limón. Visit Holborn Dining Room on Thursdays coz that's when they serve their Beef Wellington. Arrive early to order. Restaurant only serves the Beef Wellington at 6.30pm so if you arrive early, have a drink or soup. The Beef Wellington is pricey at GBP48, but it is worth the price if this is the first time you are having it. The roasted potato is a bit dry, but after eating the Beef Wellington, you may not have space for the potatoes ;p make a reservation before popping by!

This was my second time here and last time I had the scotch egg and a very good pie. This time, I wanted something different so I ordered the tiger prawns as an appetizer and then chicken in gravy and some vegetables, which was excellent, along with some mashed potatoes. The waiter recommended a very nice glass of white wine. Service and ambience both excellent and I will be back next time I’m in London.

The food is very good, but I made a booking for 6 guests, tried to amend it for 7 but was told it was full and had no spare chair. Tried amending for 12.30 instead of 1pm, but told not possible as fully booked. Upon arrival, the vast majority of the restaurant is empty. Our table even has spare seating. Not impressed.

We dined at the restaurant last night and unfortunately left feeling underwhelmed and, ultimately, disappointed. Despite its association with a high-profile 5-star hotel, the experience did not meet expectations, leaving us questioning the value for money. Our evening started on a positive note with the ladies at the cloakroom providing exceptional service. They were attentive, engaging, and genuinely kind, setting an excellent tone for the evening. However, once seated and under the care of our waiter, the experience took a turn. The waiter seemed disengaged and uninterested, which negatively impacted the overall atmosphere. We often had to request drinks and even had to prompt the staff to pour champagne, which was kept in a cooler away from our table. The food itself was good—tasty and served promptly—but it wasn’t enough to salvage the evening. The restaurant’s atmosphere felt flat, with many patrons dressed in casual sportswear. While I don’t have an issue with casual attire, it did detract from the elevated image one might expect from a 5-star establishment. The setting felt more casual than refined, despite the premium price tag. When the bill arrived, we noticed a standard 15% service charge had been added. Given our experience, we requested a reduction to 10%, feeling that the full amount was not justified on this occasion. After some back-and-forth, a new bill was presented, and a waiter with whom we had developed a good rapport handled the payment. He empathized with our concerns and even admitted he wouldn’t have paid the full charge himself, which felt genuine yet somewhat diplomatic. Ultimately, we left disappointed. For the high prices and the prestige associated with the hotel, the experience fell far short of expectations. We won’t be returning, which is a shame because the potential for a much better experience was certainly there.

I came here because I saw it rated as having among the best sticky toffee puddings in city of London. I had that and a pot of English breakfast tea in the mid-afternoon. The sticky toffee was fabulous and the service was attentive and top-notch. It was a warm, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend.

Objectively everything was very good, wonderful environment and impeccable service, we met a very professional and friendly Italian waiter who recommended us. The price, however, is definitely out of focus, you pay for the splendid environment, the food is undoubtedly well made but not drastically better than others with lower prices and more generous portions. Holborn dining room didn't hit right. Overpriced food for the quality and high end restaurant practices like charging extra for sides that weren't that great. It felt like it was acting above its station, putting in airs. The service was attentive but almost interruptively so with many checks to ask if everything was ok and lots of water refills that interrupted our conversations. That might have been added to by the small tables of course. Chairs were small and uncomfortable and the toilets a long walk away. It all added up to a distinctly average experience.

There are surely a number of ways to engage the experience at the Holborn Dining Room, and looking for a quick (if high-end) Full English is just one of them. I saw a suitable item on the menu for £28, and ordered. The eggs were not quite to order, but overall it was a fantastic breakfast. I would have liked a second cup of coffee while I was eating, but this being London, my server was nowhere to be found during the brief meal. When the bill came, I was surprised to see a charge for £42, not £28. It was a good breakfast, but perhaps not *that* good. When I inquired, the waiter explained that the £42 package comes with coffee. I informed him that I would not be paying £14 for an Americano. He fetched the manager, who explained that the £14 netted me not just coffee, but also toast! The toast came in a super British little metal rack next to the plate and included no shortage of butter, but again, this seemed a bit excessive, even for High Holborn. However, it was clear that while she was apologetic, she was going to stick to her guns—and after all, I received all the value of the more expensive menu item, even if it wasn't clear which one I was ordering. (When I placed my order, I simply said "Full English," not "Full English for £28, not the ambiguous other one for £42," so they had a tenuous case to make, if a rather customer-abusive one.) In sum, a truly negative experience, despite an elegant dining room and a basically well-executed fry-up.

An amazing early dinner experience we visited on a Friday in October 2024. Having our dog with us was an added bonus.. Food was exceptional with their rump of lamb, sticky toffee pudding and apple tart being notably excellent. Our mains were slightly delayed and we were happy to wait. The waiting staff offered us complementary desserts which were lovely. The waiting staff are very attentive and helpful while we were there with our eighty five year old mother. Dinner with drinks and the very kind gesture of the management resulted in £91 per person for a party of three + dog. Would thoroughly recommend the Holborn dinning rooms for a special occasion. Just make sure you book in advance as the place gets busy after 8 pm. If you are driving I would recommend you use the NCP Bloomsbury Square car park about four minutes walk away. Since parking is only available if you have a room reservation at the adjoining Rosewood Hotel.

We really wanted a vegan Wellington and surprisingly this place had one and it was pretty good. It's a bit on the fancy side so felt a bit out of place but they treated us the same as everyone else. Everyone else was dressed in suits and us, just comfortable street clothes. There isn't many options for vegan but they had enough to have a great meal. If you want a vegan Wellington I'd highly recommend this place. I'm sure their regular Wellington is also pretty good.

They look so stupid with their oversized floppy bow ties and those massive tartan trousers - I keep expecting them to do a comedy trip and spill all the food they're delivering over me. I came here with my friends and their 2 kids under 5 years old for dinner, and we had such a lovely time. Sylvia, Nikola, and the entire waitstaff were so attentive and made sure the kids were well taken care of. They received a nice coloring book/crayon set in addition to a stuffed animal dog near the end of the dinner, and the kids were so happy. I am pregnant, and the waiters took care to ensure that the food would be safe. We ordered the pork and the chicken meat pies, and both were delicious. My friends indulged in their outstanding gin selection guided by their gin expert. Out of our 10 day vacation to the UK, which included several bib gourmand and Michelin star restaurants, we received the most personable and thoughtful service this meal. We could not have been happier!

It's a beautiful looking place and I loved the atmosphere and the service as well. However, the food was a let-down. My pork pie was red on the inside and black on the outside. I hoped it would taste better than it looked but was disappointed. The prices are outrageous and you simply don't get what you pay for here. I know, I know, you've conducted market research and found your prices to be competitive. This is not a restaurant that listens to its customers. If you have money to burn and low standards, this is the place for you. If you just want to go for drinks, then sure, but it will cost you.

The pork pie was way too salty. As was the side salad which was also overpriced for a tiny bowl of lettuce leaves. The wait staff were phenomenal and very apologetic when it was mentioned that the pie was too salty.

My salmon was undercooked, and the sauce was somewhat bland. Tiny portions too. My guest left most of her shrimp burger, I didn't ask why. Underwhelming and unnecessarily expensive. Service was attentive.

Food is average and portions are small. It's a beautiful venue and somewhere you want to visit for a luxury experience. I've been to breakfast several times for business. The last time I went I ordered the cinnamon french toast and it was one slice with a handful of berries.

We stopped in here for dinner one night on a recent holiday from Australia, and I am so glad we did! Lovely ambience, staff were friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Our waitress gave great recommendations, the cocktails were delicious, as was the wine. We had pies - I had the braised beef and it was amazing - easily one of the best pies I have ever eaten and I feel that says a lot from an Australian who loves a good pie. The carrots were also delicious and the petit fours a really nice unexpected touch. Overall, a lovely experience and will hopefully become a tradition for us whenever we travel over there.

Whilst this establishment is vey pricy, maybe overpriced, the service was excellent, and the food was exceedingly good, the choice of beer was very limited, but I doubt many of their diners drink beer. Anyway, I would definitely return from one of their beef and Stilton pies!

Heard great things about the pie room so we came here to try it out. We got a few starters, the tomato salad was delicious and refreshing. Scotch eggs were tasty, the egg was nice and gooey. Pate en croute was also nice. The pies we got were the chicken and mushroom and beef ones, the beef pie was quite dry inside and had a bitter taste which we weren’t too keen on, and couldn’t taste any blue cheese either. Chicken and mushroom pie was slightly better but it wasn’t something worth raving about. The battered haddock was nice, had a good crispy shell. Texture was great. The tartare sauce was bland. Chips and truffle & Parmesan fries were delicious, perfectly fried, fluffy and crisp. Seasoning was excellent. Mash potato was standard. Both desserts were got, sacher and custard tart were nice to end the meal with. Service was superb and staff were friendly and tentative.

We booked this as treat for my wife’s birthday. Upon arrival the team were taking negatively about each other! We were then placed in an empty section at the back of the restaurant and assured that other customers would join the area. I can only describe it as ghostly! With all the other customers at the front on the restaurant, to be honest the atmosphere wasn’t fantastic anywhere in the restaurant! We then had to ask to be moved as no one came as promised as we where just sat their alone! The only atmosphere was coming from a party in the hotel courtyard! Americans from the music industry, I believe? Anyway, not only did they make rude comments at my wife as she when to the loos, but argued and shouted throughout our whole meal! (Btw.. they where your guests, not mine) So to sum up our experience! Awful! This is not a cheap venue and with a premium price, you expect premium service! At this price! Book elsewhere!!!!

100% tourist trap. Food was about £40+ each… got some bread which was average but nothing special.. The salmon which my friend left disappointed with due to the 2/3 bites. I got fish and chips which was again nothing special. Overall left very disappointed with the food. The decor of the place was the only thing that was nice about it. This was my friend’s first time to England and he left annoyed and frustrated after this meal.

A grand dinner in the heart of London with an amazing bar. They have gin selection for any occasion. The bar team had a respectable cocktail knowledge and made me an amazing twist on the gimlet. Star of the show is sunny Italian bar manager with personality bigger than mount Everest. Can't wait to go back for another one of those cocktails.

We had a Saturday lunch. We asked to move from one table to another since cold air was coming from a door at the end of the restaurant. The waiter was super attentive and really made sure we felt taken care of. Food was good but nothing out of the ordinary - I had a ribeye and my husband had an hamburger with fries. Overall good but food could be better for the price.

I came here when this restaurant opened and this was the first time I had come back and it has really gone down hill. The food was very overpriced for the quality. We sent back a salad which was essentially cold iceberg lettuce. It was pretty empty too which didn’t help. I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

We had an amazing experience. We had great oysters, gin and tonics, and meat pie! We did share the fish and chips and it was some of the best we had in London. Our server was Vanessa (I think that was her name) and she was amazing! 10/10 recommend this upscale brasserie pub style spot.

We came for the pies! My friend loves pies, I decided to give her a treat at the Holborn dining room. She had a pork pie with fries (extra charge). Turned out the pie was overcooked, dry and very salty. The portion is small and it costs £28. It is definitely not the best pie we have tried and I think not worth it. The place is alright as it locates in Rosewood hotel. However the table is small and pretty close to next table. I had octopus carpaccio to start with, great presentation, good portion. The citrus purée was too intense and strong that overpowered the umami of the octopus. For the main, I had grilled miso glazed aubergine. Again, beautifully decorated, balanced flavours. But the aubergine would taste better if it is pan-fried with olive oil. Overall, disappointing, especially the pie. won’t come back again for what I had paid for.

The first time I felt unsatisfied with the extremely unprofessional and undelicate behavior of the restaurant staff. Being at an event in London, I was looking for a cafe to rest. A nice lady from the terrace gave me the menu and suggested I move to other tables as my area was reserved by a group of people. That’s fine! She suggested another table outside, and I felt quite hot due to too much sun in the area. Then, she asked me if I would prefer to be inside. I took the menu and came inside. When I asked to order, another lady came and requested me to move outside again, stating that if I ordered dessert and drinks from the terrace menu, it was not allowed, and she suggested I order from the dine-in menu. After she realized I was seated outside from her colleague, she told me to wait for her to verify. When she returned, she asked me to move outside without any apology for the inconsistency in service. Then, I refused to be served with the disrespectful attitude. Finally, before I walked out, another colleague wanted to come and ask for help, then the lady who provided unprofessional service said, 'That’s fine,' with a discriminatory attitude. Does Rosewood London treat customers according to its standards?

Having lunch with friends at Villa Minuty, French Rivera style in the heart of London, part of Holborn Dining Room. What a treat the food is out of this world especially Grill Octopus and "Coeur De Bouef" Tomato Tatin, full of flavour and great ingredients executed well. The service as you expected from 5 ⭐ fine dining is faultless. Silvia is very good and knowledgeable.

Expérience désastreuse dans un lieu suranné avec des codes du luxe qui sentent la poussière. Venus en groupe pour un petit déjeuner , on nous a fait sentir très lourdement que nous n’étions pas les bienvenus et on nous a orientés vers un lieu plus middle class comme si nous n’étions pas digne de la salle principale du rosewood. L’intégralité des personnes du groupe est cadre supérieure avec des revenus très confortables qui en font des habitués de ce type de lieu . Mais nous étions en baskets et venions de l’extérieur. Vous avez perdu 6 clients potentiels et la façon dont vous accueillez les gens est inadmissible .

Such a wonderful surprise to find this charming little restaurant near LSE! It has a warm and welcoming vibe, making it perfect for both lunch and dinner. The food was absolutely divine, my compliments to the chef! The wine selection was excellent, of course. A special thanks to Denise, the star of the evening, whose kindness and attentiveness made us feel truly special. Can’t wait to come back!
