One of the rare places in Newcastle that consistently do good matcha lattes (that aren’t powdery and taste like grass). Cakes are good too. Great atmosphere and lots of seating but often packed.

One of my favourite places to do work in. They have great WiFi and oat milk is free! It can get quite busy but they have tables downstairs too! The price is really good and they have a loyalty app

A lovely and cosy coffee shop, but I would prefer if they extended their opening hours. They currently close at 4 PM, which feels quite early 🤷🏻‍♂️

Zero customer service. Went here at 9:24 this morning. Five members of staff, not one said good morning or hi as we entered or offered us a menu. One was writing on a board, three were talking to each other and one was stuffing little paper tubes in a pot. We left. We went to Blake's, it was super. It was mad busy, but the staff were friendly and the food was great.

Great service! Warm and welcoming. Sandwiches deep filled and on focaccia bread are superb 👌 coffee is their thing and it is crafted well!

Their food and coffee is yummy. It's just beside Motel One, and if you don't like their breakfast offering (I personally don't like it), then this is a good and budget friendly alternative. They open early so breakfast is sorted.

Overpriced for what it is Upd: as restaurant replied about it being cheaper than others and about barista grade milk - to me, as a random consumer, this does not say much. I haven’t checked entire area and compared, nor did I manage to appreciate the milk. But when I see a price for a grilled bread + 2 poached eggs on top of it for 8 GBP, I get a feeling that this is very high price. Maybe that’s a normal Newcastle price, but simple dish like this (without any sides or anything) should not cost whooping 8+ GBP.

Went if for coffee and breakfast bite to eat. Coffee and food was top notch. Service was good but it was cold in Newcastle and the premises could have been a little warmer, otherwise excellent

Love popping in here every now and then, it’s often too busy to get a seat but when I can, I do. Great coffee shop, love the matcha and chai latte but am yet to try the food. The interior is cute, clean and has some cool artwork - it’s always filled with a mixed bag of people from professional to people working on projects, always loads of laptops about! I’d recommend the place for sure!

one of my favourite coffee shops in the centre! they have one of the best pumpkin spice coffees i've ever had, with real pumpkin instead of syrup, and the pastries are great too! it does tend to get quite busy, and the echo of the room means it gets a bit noisy, so I don't always choose to go here for a catch up coffee with friends, but it's great for working if you enjoy background noise. overall a great place to go, where you know you'll get great coffee and food!

My wife and daughter visited you yesterday and brought a pastrami sandwich back for me and I must say it was delicious, the filling and the bread were top notch. If you are ever thinking of coming to Sunderland you would clean up.

Brilliant coffee and great location. In particular love the decor and buzzy atmosphere. Always seem to get a seat too. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting high quality coffee in the city centre.

I really enjoy the coffee at Laneway, and I’ve always liked spending time here. However, I preferred their older sandwich menu – it had better options. One thing that bothers me is the sheer number of dogs that people bring in. I don’t mind dogs at all, but it feels like there are more dogs than humans sometimes! It’s annoying when they wander around freely, often coming under my table while I’m trying to relax. It definitely takes away from what could otherwise be a great experience.

My favourite place in Newcastle. Does the best matcha specials which I get every weekend without fail. New food menu is great and changes seasonally. Good vegan options and GF too. Staff are friendly and owner is always around a talking to customers.

Nice place for doing some work and having meetings or just a catch up with friends or colleagues. Good service, polite and professional, not especially warm and welcoming. The food and drinks were okay.

Good quality of coffee. Friendly staff and pleasant service. The atmosphere is so comfortable, especially on the -1 floor. I took one star away because they did not have many options for baked goods when I was there.

Perfect place for brunch just off Bigg Market. Friendly service and fair selection of tasty dishes and coffees. Not cheap for Newcastle, as some others mentioned in previous posts, but certainly good value for what you get.

We went to Laneway & Co today for breakfast and ordered a bacon focaccia and a sourdough toast with avocado and lemon. The food was good but quite pricey for what it is, the focaccia was £7 and it literally only had ketchup and bacon inside. The avocado toast was great but quite expensive (£8). We were a bit disappointed by the orange juice as we initially ordered peach tea but the waitress told us they ran out; she suggested us some alternatives and we asked if the orange juice was fresh juice, to which she said yes. What we received was simple store bought orange juice and not real fresh orange juice so that was quite sad. The atmosphere was very nice and the place had cute decorations all over, even the bathroom was very clean and neat! Staff was friendly as well, but I wouldn’t make it a regular stop because the price and value don’t add up

This is by far the best place to grab a coffee in Newcastle! I currently live in Australia where the coffee is on point! Found this place and the coffee is amazing! Went back recently while I have been visiting family and it has gotten bigger and still has amazing coffee! My partner is also a coffee snob and he was satisfied!

The best flat white in Newcastle.

Came here for the Shapes guest kitchen. It was £25 (plus 10% service) for three courses which were all beautiful. If you like pasta you have to try it. The bread and oil, tuna, gnocchi and tres leches were my favourites. The menu changes constantly.

Best quality coffee Have used Laneway since it opened , allpress coffee is the brand I look out for wherever I am , plus they have the best ever pastas del nata ( sometimes) my only gripe would be they’ve started putting cocoa sprinkles on coffee recently , quality coffee would never have sprinkles , it’s a touch “ big brand” if you get my drift

Had a lovely pot of Earl Grey. Prices were reasonable, service was good, it had a comfortable atmosphere.

Busy atmosphere. Grabbed a quick coffee (Latte) before my train. Milk was way too hot - all foam & no real texture. Looks like a nice place to work from but wouldn’t go back for a coffee.

Fantastic coffee, and the desserts are truly delightful! I highly suggest trying the pecan pie and brownie cookies. While the carrot cake was good, it was a bit dry for my taste. Overall, it's an excellent spot for working with outstanding food options.

For a coffee shop whose website states “we specialise in gluten and dairy free food”, they had absolutely no gluten free options available at all and didn’t seem bothered about it either - the waitress shrugged and said “it’s hard to avoid cross contamination I guess”. Very disappointing. If you can’t cater for gluten free, don’t advertise it!

I have to say, the combination of a flat white with a bowl of granola was an absolute treat at this place. Oooowee! I'd come back here again and again. It's that good people. Get thisen here! ❤️

The staff is really lovely and friendly i have never been to a coffee shop here in Newcastle with that level of kindness of the staff everyone is welcoming and feels happy working here. The food is really delicious, however there is little varieties i think adding something with beef would be a credit since there is no beef options (only ham). Some people do not eat ham. I really recommend a visit and a coffee here. The place has a very nice atmosphere for working and studying.

Clean, welcoming environment. Good value for money. Staff were helpful & friendly. When I asked for more milk for my latte the man serving actually made me another (less strong) drink without being asked. Impressed, we will be returning.

Simply the best coffee in town.

This coffee shop is located in a character side street just off Grey Street. it has a large and well laid out interior and probably the best coffee in Newcastle. We had two flat whites, which cost £6.20.

Noisy and busy atmosphere, full of students. Staff are rushed and not that attentive. Got a coffee for £3.10 and it was tiny. charging £5.25 for a basic cheese and onion toastie is madness. Not good value for money and down stairs looks like a school canteen area, seats are rock hard and not a lot of choice of food from what the menu showed. More reasonably charging better quality local cafes near by (quay ingredient, Blake’s, etc.) would only be back if the prices were lower, there was more variety and the environment looked more inviting.

Great place for coffee in heart of Newcastle. Really quick service and coffee was excellent.

I enjoyed my food but the service was disappointing. I spilled my hot chocolate accidentally and staff knew what happened but still didn’t do anything. I went and asked for some tissues to clean the table and again informed them of what happened. Still they watched us clean and never offered to clean the table or if I wanted another drink.

It's a pleasant coffee coffee shop in the city centre. The setting is modern and pleasant. The coffee was great, and the sweets, if you choose to have some, are also quite delicious. There are also some breakfast alternatives. For example, we had a toast, which was rather good. The staff was also friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant spot to enjoy a cup of coffee with good company.

Grab a coffee & cake found it a bit pricey for what you get , Didn't understand why putting chairs on table when customers were still sat in there found it rather rude glad I was just picking up a take away.

I love Laneway. I come every time I'm in Newcastle. Good coffee and so far everything I've eaten (ham and cheese toastie and custard tart) has been delicious.

The coffee needs to be better. It is sometimes more bitter and unpleasant ( not good coffee quality or not cleaning well the machine). It is a nice place and promising, but the coffee needs to be more professional. Good atmosphere, however pretty warm with moisture sometimes.

Reasonably priced coffee and food that is all very tasty! They've recently refurbished and expanded and the place looks amazing! Definitely worth a visit.

First time trying here, my husband ordered 'fresh' orange juice which was £2.90 and we watched the lady pour some shop bought orange juice in the cup. She seemed like she was trying to hide what she was doing. I ordered matcha latte and it was fine. The staff did not have warm attitude and they weren't very friendly.

It is very rare to find a café that serves excellent coffee. This is one. They don’t drown the coffee in milk and the flavours of the coffee are wonderful. Just happened upon it whilst wandering around looking for a café. The tray bakes are delicious too!

This is probably the best coffee served in Newcastle . A great grind and prepared perfectly . They have some nice food choices too especially when the doughnuts are in !! . Totally unpretentious and focussed on good coffee . Editing the review as Laneway has doubled the size which means it’s twice as good ! Lots more space but the same quality.

According to girlfriend: " Needs more plants/green!". Very good flat white and tea though.

Been a regular for many years and now after their refurbishment, they’re better than ever! The new interior has given this place a fresh warming feel. Same great quality coffee, same great service. Exciting to see a local independent develop itself further and soon offer more to the area. Great work guys!
