Busy atmosphere. Grabbed a quick coffee (Latte) before my train. Milk was way too hot - all foam & no real texture. Looks like a nice place to work from but wouldn’t go back for a coffee.

Excellent flat white (strong & tasty) with a great carrot & orange cake. Perfect stop on our sightseeing tour!! 🫶

One of my favourite places to do work in. They have great WiFi and oat milk is free! It can get quite busy but they have tables downstairs too! The price is really good and they have a loyalty app

Excellent sandwiches and tasty coffee!

Fantastic coffee, and the desserts are truly delightful! I highly suggest trying the pecan pie and brownie cookies. While the carrot cake was good, it was a bit dry for my taste. Overall, it's an excellent spot for working with outstanding food options.

For a coffee shop whose website states “we specialise in gluten and dairy free food”, they had absolutely no gluten free options available at all and didn’t seem bothered about it either - the waitress shrugged and said “it’s hard to avoid cross contamination I guess”. Very disappointing. If you can’t cater for gluten free, don’t advertise it!

The staff is really lovely and friendly i have never been to a coffee shop here in Newcastle with that level of kindness of the staff everyone is welcoming and feels happy working here. The food is really delicious, however there is little varieties i think adding something with beef would be a credit since there is no beef options (only ham). Some people do not eat ham. I really recommend a visit and a coffee here. The place has a very nice atmosphere for working and studying.

Clean, welcoming environment. Good value for money. Staff were helpful & friendly. When I asked for more milk for my latte the man serving actually made me another (less strong) drink without being asked. Impressed, we will be returning.

Friendly place in the city centre, good coffees and cakes at fair prices. Good service. Not a lot of atmosphere for me, but some will like the clean lines and white decor.

Simply the best coffee in town.

This coffee shop is located in a character side street just off Grey Street. it has a large and well laid out interior and probably the best coffee in Newcastle. We had two flat whites, which cost £6.20.

Noisy and busy atmosphere, full of students. Staff are rushed and not that attentive. Got a coffee for £3.10 and it was tiny. charging £5.25 for a basic cheese and onion toastie is madness. Not good value for money and down stairs looks like a school canteen area, seats are rock hard and not a lot of choice of food from what the menu showed. More reasonably charging better quality local cafes near by (quay ingredient, Blake’s, etc.) would only be back if the prices were lower, there was more variety and the environment looked more inviting.

A really nice coffee shop. The coffee in itself is amazing and they always have a great selection of baked goods available. The interior is really nice and modern as well.

I enjoyed my food but the service was disappointing. I spilled my hot chocolate accidentally and staff knew what happened but still didn’t do anything. I went and asked for some tissues to clean the table and again informed them of what happened. Still they watched us clean and never offered to clean the table or if I wanted another drink.

It's a pleasant coffee coffee shop in the city centre. The setting is modern and pleasant. The coffee was great, and the sweets, if you choose to have some, are also quite delicious. There are also some breakfast alternatives. For example, we had a toast, which was rather good. The staff was also friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant spot to enjoy a cup of coffee with good company.

Grab a coffee & cake found it a bit pricey for what you get , Didn't understand why putting chairs on table when customers were still sat in there found it rather rude glad I was just picking up a take away.

I love Laneway. I come every time I'm in Newcastle. Good coffee and so far everything I've eaten (ham and cheese toastie and custard tart) has been delicious.

Kafi is an excellent specialist and suitable for Arabs. The service is excellent and clean. I recommend him.. 👍🏻

The coffee needs to be better. It is sometimes more bitter and unpleasant ( not good coffee quality or not cleaning well the machine). It is a nice place and promising, but the coffee needs to be more professional. Good atmosphere, however pretty warm with moisture sometimes.

Reasonably priced coffee and food that is all very tasty! They've recently refurbished and expanded and the place looks amazing! Definitely worth a visit.

First time trying here, my husband ordered 'fresh' orange juice which was £2.90 and we watched the lady pour some shop bought orange juice in the cup. She seemed like she was trying to hide what she was doing. I ordered matcha latte and it was fine. The staff did not have warm attitude and they weren't very friendly.

It is very rare to find a café that serves excellent coffee. This is one. They don’t drown the coffee in milk and the flavours of the coffee are wonderful. Just happened upon it whilst wandering around looking for a café. The tray bakes are delicious too!

This is probably the best coffee served in Newcastle . A great grind and prepared perfectly . They have some nice food choices too especially when the doughnuts are in !! . Totally unpretentious and focussed on good coffee . Editing the review as Laneway has doubled the size which means it’s twice as good ! Lots more space but the same quality.

Brilliant coffee and great location. In particular love the decor and buzzy atmosphere. Always seem to get a seat too. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting high quality coffee in the city centre.

Been a regular for many years and now after their refurbishment, they’re better than ever! The new interior has given this place a fresh warming feel. Same great quality coffee, same great service. Exciting to see a local independent develop itself further and soon offer more to the area. Great work guys!

Laneway & Co is my go to coffee house, when in the centre of town at weekends, it makes a great bolt hole when raining too. It's well situated on High Bridge Street and really fits the vibe of the street. The coffee is excellent, my usual is a flat white and it's hard to find a better one in town. The staff are pleasant. The choice of cakes is pretty good too. I would recommend it if you are ever in the area.

We enjoyed our visit to this café on a Sunday morning when it was quite peaceful. The coffee was very reasonably priced at £4.80 for two flat whites. It was good quality coffee, but the only downside for us was that it was served in paper cups.

I liked everything about this place except the customer service part. The woman who served me yesterday around 2-3 pm with dark short hair was very rude. Ruined my day. Being nice with people is free, doesn’t cost you anything.

My flat white was delicious! Also ordered some Victoria Sponge Cake and got a very generous slice, the cake was flavourful and moist with fluffy frosting and fresh strawberries. My boyfriend had a grilled cheese toastie which was also great. Can recommend!

Called in here for coffee and cake. Tea, coffee and cake (passionfruit) all excellent. Our first visit, it definitely won't be our last.

The best coffee! We ordered a flat white and a latte and they were both amazing. Very strong, smooth and priced really well. I had the chicken, avocado and pesto sourdough toastie which was fantastic too, best toastie I've had in ages. The cafe is small inside, but there is additional seating downstairs :)

Called into the little place in a quiet side street and had the best bacon bap I’ve every had….so many miss the mark with a simple dish ..but they nailed it ..oh and the cakes are wonderful too..Give it a go you won’t be disappointed

Excellent coffee!!! At last!!! Properly prepared with guest or regular blends this is one of a handful of UK cafes I've visited that can match up to the highest standard for coffee. I knew it would be good before even tasting it. The coppery gold froth on my black americano and the fact that it wasn't watered down to fill a ridiculous bucket sized cup told me this. My girlfriend, another hard nosed coffee buff, her skinny mocha was amongst her best. If you rate cafes on how tall the drink is, how much cream, chocolate, syrup or other crud is used to dominate the flavour then stick to Costa etc. If you love the taste of unadulterated black coffee come here. Also a good value tastey toasted sandwich. And the tables were clean. What more can you ask for?

Tucked away on High Bridge and taking inspiration for its band from the Melbourne Laneways? This small cafe offers up the only Allpress coffee to be found between York and Edinburgh. Simply laid out and functional it attracts folk who are after both decent coffee and some wifi access. We had regular and decaf flat white and they were two of the best we’ve tasted in Newcastle. Certainly the best in the city centre. Well crafted, tidy barista skills and just the right temperature and extraction. This will be my go to coffee stop when in town.

Very small cafe so there might not be room to sit but it is well worth a look. Good selection of breakfast lunch and sweets and the coffee was good too.

Decent little coffee shop, sourdough toasties looked pretty nice, but we just popped in for a coffee. No baby changing facilities on site, but there is a toilet for parents! Nice coffee, nothing fancy, does the job.

The food was nice and the coffee was amazing. However, once I had payed for my iced coffee I was told there was none of an ingredient I had payed extra for. I then was offered an iced latte which I accepted but realised afterwards that this was priced cheaper than what I had originally ordered and payed for. I was not refunded for this, it was not a huge problem because it wasn’t much money but I think it seemed quite unprofessional of the staff to not consider that.
