Aidan's Kitchen in Newcastle upon Tyne

We booked a table for 9am atrived at 9am, we had a coffee then waited 45 mins for food, when it arrived it was very nice, however I would of liked to order another drink for go with my breakfast....after we ate it we decided to ask for a half portion for pancakes to share and a smoothie and were politely told we had to return our table at 10am. Pricey £46 2 x breakfast & 2 x coffee.

Whilst the chocolate cake was nice, we felt rushed in finishing our order, being told they “needed the table”

Fantástico lugar para el brunch con un menú inventivo y un gran servicio que nunca ha dejado de decepcionar, bien vale la pena una visita y se recomienda reservar especialmente los fines de semana, ya que es muy popular

Absolutely wonderful visit today. Very busy so we had booked a table. Service took 35 mins for food to arrive but it was so worth the wait. Good was delicious. We had the Mexicana, and Steak and Eggs for our two mains. And for dessert we had a half stack of pancakes each. Incredible food. Best pancakes we have ever had and that includes having had traditional ‘American’ pancakes in the States many times before. The pancakes here beat any we have had before. Code was great too. Worth every penny and we shall be back with our two boys in future.

My partner and I headed here for brunch after a walk through the area. The place itself is beautiful and homely. The food and drink options were fantastic. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful, And honestly I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The eggs Mexicana is a must try and although we weren't sure on ordering a side of hash browns I'm glad we did as they were perfectly crisp and very tasty. If you're looking for a special brunch out with great service and great food this should be your next stop.

I don’t even know where to start. I have had the steak and eggs and that was the best dish I had in the UK. Same goes for their coffee which I am normally not a fan of. It was the perfect breakfast coffee, slight roasted beans packed with flavour. I would recommend booking in advance as they are quiet busy.You would not regret!

Recommended by a friend, I walked up from my hotel on the quayside; not disappointed! Service was warm and friendly, breakfast (eggs benny & black pudding) was superb, and the place was rammed. People were waiting outside in the cold to get in. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely brunch after our quayside 10k. Great coffee and delicious food in a light, airy room. Loved the vibe.

Was not happy with my experience at aidans kitchen today. My husband did not like the english breakfast. He said there was nothing special about it. My friend did not like the dulce de leche pancake and said it was too sweet. But the thing i hated most was that the staff approached us three times asking if we were done eating. My friend was carrying a fussy baby so she couldn’t eat her food nor drink her coffee. But the staff kept on asking if we were finished which was very rude. I know it was a busy morning for them and a lot of people wanted a table, but they should not rush the people while they are still trying to eat. You should sort something out with your booking system instead of trying to kick people out of the restaurant.

Really impressed! A lovely blonde fellow called Daniel served us, took immense care of us and catered to our every need. I would recommend Aiden's everytime!

I travel from Hong Kong and Aidan's Kitchen is the best place I have brunch in Newcastle. The vibe is relax and chill. Food ingredients are fresh and delicious. I also order a smoothie that is really fruity！I will come back next time when i travel here again😃

Your ordering systems seemed to have automatically gone off at 2:01pm because an order collected at 2:31pm would go past your listed kitchen close time. I hoped that feedback would be helpful. I did comment on my experiences previously and rated the food 5 stars in this review. If I walked over and arrived at 2:30pm/waited, would I not have been told the kitchen was closed and not taking orders? How could I commit to another hour of roundtrip walking without knowing if you would even serve me when I arrived? Would it have been difficult to say: "I'm sorry you were disappointed this time, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your food previously. We were exceptionally busy to answer the phone on this instance but it isn't the norm. Hope you will be back soon to give us another try"? Your patronising reply makes it feel like take-out orderers are treated as lesser customers and like my negative experience is invalid because I have enjoyed previous visits and happened to not leave a review. _________________ Original review I hate to leave negative feedback since I really enjoy the quality of food here, but I wasn't allowed to order today. I walk in with my dog from about an hour away to get takeaway from Aidan's occasionally. I'll normally place an order on the webapp and pick it up with no issues. Today I tried to place an order while walking over at 2pm. The kitchen per the app closes at 2:30 and the restaurant at 3pm. I wasn't able to place an order because a time slot wasn't available...okay I'll give them a call! 5 attempts to ring and no answer. I just had to give up and walk back home disappointed. To clarify, I tried to place an order one hour before the restaurant closed and would have collected half an hour before closure or sooner.

A real gem of Newcastle, the food is great, the coffee is good and the busy bustling atmosphere just adds to it. Particularly recommend the steak and eggs 🤤

I booked this cafe on a visit to my daughters uni from the reviews. It exceeded my expectations and some. The cafe was rammed at midday on a Sunday but staff were friendly,chatty and the quality of food phenomenal. If you are anywhere near this cafe you must go!!

Incredibly slow service, we waited 45 minutes for our order and no one from the staff apologised, place was full but there were more than 3 servers out at the same time, paid in total a good 80 pounds for nothing Edit: seems that the management has a different sense of time from everybody else. Apparently our 45 minutes of wait are only a small amount to you and quite unworthy

I arrived from the U.S. looking for a late breakfast and what a find! The place was bustling in the morning sunshine but staff remained cool and calm and friendly., The vibe is just right, full of energetic students and a few of us well past our student years. All the food looked good. My half-stack of blueberry pancakes was fabulous. Love it and look forward to coming again when I'm in the Toon.

El servicio era bueno y un ambiente hablador. El devoto fue divertido pero un poco cansado. ¡Sin embargo, no se llevó del fabuloso menú! Defo vale la pena un viaje si no estás cerca de la cafetería Sandyford!

Nos recomendaron venir aquí por nuestro anfitrión Airbnb, ya que estaba a solo 2 minutos a pie de donde nos alojamos. Sinceramente, ¡no podría haber quedado más impresionado! Si pudiera darle más estrellas, lo haría. El servicio fue encantador y rápido. El personal era siempre tan amable y acogedor, especialmente nuestra camarera! Un lugar tan único decorado y estaba tan impresionado en las opciones en el menú. Cuando salieron las bebidas, mi arte del café era hermoso y el batido era tan grande! La comida era aún más impresionante - la cantidad, el sabor, la presentación, todo! Si nos encontramos en Newcastle de nuevo, definitivamente vamos a salir.

Amazing places for brunch, the staff were lovely and the food was amazing. We had the French toast, a full English breakfast and 2 dirty chai latte which I couldn’t recommend more :)

I had high hopes for this place after reading the reviews but both my partner and myself were disappointed with our dishes. Far too much bread which was extremely hard to cut / chew and just not a lot of taste unfortunately.

Fabulous food and friendly, attentive service. We hadn't booked so had to wait for a table, after 20 mins we got a table outside and ordered drinks and food. As it was a bit chilly the waitress (unprompted) asked if we would prefer a table inside which we moved to. Food was excellent, incredibly tasty and very fresh. The place is very busy and by the time we left there was a large queue outside waiting for tables. I cannot fault the service and customer-focused attitude, the place was very busy so there was a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected and the staff were excellent. Thank you for looking after us, it was much appreciated. Highly recommended

Was so hyped for this brunch and was so disappointed in the overall experience. We were sat for 15 mins and no one came to take our order, we had to flag someone down who just replied ‘I’m coming’. Finally we ordered our drinks and 2 bacon sandwiches. Sat for another 15 mins, no sign of our drinks. Other tables were sat with tap water, we didn’t get any. We then had to flag someone to ask where our drinks were, ‘2 more mins’. Finally got our drinks. Had to chase our food. We waited a total of 55 mins from when we first sat down to get two bacon sandwiches. We did finally get an apology from the brown haired waitress when she served our food (more friendly than the blonde waitress who was quite blunt). The food was INCREDIBLE. The best brunch I’ve ever had. But the shocking service left a bad taste in the mouth and for the first time we didn’t pay service charge. Wouldn’t go back for this reason. Shame as the food is so good. Going out for two bacon sandwiches shouldn’t take 1hr 25 min!! (And if it does - a warm smile, or acknowledgement and apologies go a long way to make it ok) didn’t get that today.

Recently popped in for breakfast and had the full English. I've heard some hype around it and while I wasn't disappointed I felt it's overhyped. The ingredients were high quality and well cooked, I was impressed with the poached eggs. The sourdough, while plentiful was a bit over toasted for me personally. I had a latte with butterscotch syrup (not often you see that type) but I regret having the butterscotch, next time I'll try without the syrup. Initially good service, the place did get packed and understandably it was slower to get the attention of the staff. Its a cosy place and fairly loud when full. While I enjoyed my time I probably won't be back now I've had the experience.

The experience at Aidans Kitchen was great. The atmosphere, service, and food quality. While visiting family we decided to come out to Aidans for breakfast and the experience was great. The staff at Aidans was helpful and friendly.

El personal estaba bien, pero no nos preguntó si necesitábamos algo más, parecía muy ocupado y preocupado, la comida parecía apresurada y sin inspiración, servido con algunos cubiertos de acero prensado barato, café amargo también. ¡He estado en Aidan’s Kitchen y Little Aidan’s ahora y me han impresionado mucho ambos restaurantes! Ayer en Little Aidan’s tomé el brunch de Mexicana y mi novio tomó los gruñones caseros con jamón hondonado, huevos escalfados y salsa holandesa. También pedí un poco de tocino de arce, ya que sonaba demasiado bueno para perdérselo, y lo era. Realmente fabuloso sabor! Gran servicio y ambiente en la cafetería también. También hay una magnífica selección de pasteles en el mostrador... estábamos demasiado llenos para participar, pero definitivamente me ha dado una razón para volver pronto. ¡Gracias a todos en Little Aidan’s! ¡Sigue trabajando!

We shared a eggs benedict and a half stack of pancakes with blueberries and bacon it was all extremely delicious. Would recommend but you need to book as they get very busy as it's very popular

Ross and Millie were so friendly and efficient! The atmosphere is lovely ,relaxed, friendly and calm. The food is always perfect. We were just looking for a cafe for breakfast and this was the nearest to our hotel.Food all freshly cooked and value for money.

We had a short wait for a table. Booked in advance otherwise would have been waiting outside in a queue. Staff were quick to clear tables off to allow more in and very friendly and attentive. Couldn't fault them. The group all enjoyed their meals. I liked mine but not the best I've had. But then again nothing wrong with it at all. Would recommend

What a place this was so glad we stumbled across here we stayed locally not been from the area noticed this place was busy and had great reviews so it must be good right well im confident in saying 'faultless' from arriving to leaving. great service and properly the best breakfast i have had we both had the full English with the black pudding which was delicious nothing to complain about at all, friendly staff and a lovely welcoming atmosphere I would strongly recommend anyone to try this place giving the chance. I would most definitely make the journey just to try other options on the menu as looking around every plate of food leaving the kitchen looked delicious

Very nice place where we had breakfast. We had several stacks of pancakes and Butterbean and Chorizo ​​Cassoulet. Very generous portions! Friendly staff who laughed at our portions and asked if we were sure. At that time, we were.... Reservations recommended, it can be completely full and completely empty within 5 minutes. And you don't want to miss this!

Very much a hidden gem! Tucked away off a main road but worth hunting out. Great quality, well cooked and a nice atmosphere meant this was one of the better breakfast places we’ve visited. They do breakfast right here!

I don’t usually leave reviews unless a place has wow’d me and Aidan’s kitchen certainly has! Had such a lovely time here this afternoon taking my mum out for brunch. From start to finish the service was impeccable. When my mum wanted to change her order by swapping ingredients, they couldn’t have been nicer or more willing. Always smiling and making you feel welcome. Food was fantastic and they had a great selection with a mix of unique and common dishes. I think it’s hard to find a restaurant where you feel at ease because you know you’re being taken care of. I will certainly be coming back, thank you 😊

Was after somewhere decent for breakfast to catch up with a friend. Had been recommended Aidan's Kitchen a few times so we booked online the night before - just as well we did because the place was very busy about 15 minutes after opening. I had the Mexicana - poached eggs on toasted sourdough with chorizo, Pico de gallo, avocado and sriracha mayo. The whole dish was superb, super tasty and a great way to start the day with two really good quality cups of coffee. My friend went for the poached eggs on toast which again were done perfectly. They have a canny selection of cakes and couldn't resist taking a giant slice of caramel shortbread home. Well worth the visit if you're in the area and absolutely worth travelling for if not.

Another day - and brunch time today! Was heading to Ernest, but they were shut for a ‘staff day’, so headed to Sandyford to try a place I’d been hearing a lot of good things about- Aidan's Kitchen. First impressions were good - lovely looking place with racks of sourdough on the wall. Lots of busy staff and greeted with a huge smile. 😊 Shown to a table, but second impressions let it down a bit. Table was sticky and wobbly. I know it’s a small thing, but a wobbly table shows lack of attention to detail, and the inevitable spilling of drinks (as I did with my tea). 🫖 🙁 The menu is small and not all completely breakfasty, but isn’t cheap. A bacon buttie will set you back £10.95! (But granted is more than just a bit of ketchup goes in there). Also I was a little put off to see that a lot of tea was £3. For a teabag. I’m afraid that’s a bit scandalous. Coffee takes a bit more effort so I can accept the cost, but I think £3 for tea is pushing it. Anyway - onto the food. Ordered the “steak and eggs” and when it came it didn’t blow me away in presentation. But it certainly looked interesting and appetising. I couldn’t taste any tahini in the yoghurt - just seemed plain Greek yoghurt to me. The chimchurri was also sliced a bit coarse as I still got the crunch of the coriander stems, yet it was combined really well and wasn’t overly garlicky or lemony as I often find. The steak was well cooked and a fine cut of meat - not a bit of gristle to be found. The eggs were likewise poached perfectly. The individual elements didn’t blow me away when tasted apart - but combined - wow! The taste was exceptional. I literally mopped the plate clean with the sourdough! I can’t give any more complements than that! Quality of the Food: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Value for Money: 7/

Great service. Friendly guys and gals. Three sandwiches we had masala, a bacon and a sourdough with mushroom and tomato. Teas and a coffee. Very tasty but huge. Couldn’t finish them. Maybe better to have smaller slic3s and a side maybe crisps or a salad as it was far too much bread. Good service. Busy very small but not claustrophobic. Limited parking and not a great big menu but have been a few times and would go back. Quite pricey but give for a treat,,!,,,,,,!

Have been to Aidan’s Kitchen many times and have also Little Aidan’s. Food, service & atmosphere always excellent. Lovely people 🩷 Ordered a cake for my daughter’s Birthday which was absolutely delicious.

A lovely little cafe set back just off the main road on a housing estate. Would highly recommend this place but would suggest ringing and booking in advance regardless of time of day

We went for breakfast, great range of dishes available. We had steak and eggs, masala toastie and a pancake stack (3 of us dining). The portion sizes are generous and we all loved the food.

Tried Aidan’s Kitchen today for the first time and we simply loved it! Everything we tried was delicious and you could taste the quality ingredients! The amount of sourdough bread in the plate that I ordered (eggs on toast) was insane but it was so delicious that I finished it! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection and I quote my husband “the bacon sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had”. The coffee was also decent! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere quite chill and laid back. We will definitely be back! Totally recommended!

My fav spot for breakfast / brunch. The pancakes are light fluffy and filling. The cake selection changes all the time. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Make sure you book as this place is so popular they always fill up quickly. Great coffee too.

I went for brunch today as I’ve only ever heard good things about this cafe and ordered scrambled eggs on toast with a side of avocado. However, immediately after eating my meal I had a wave of sickness which I’ve never experienced before. I put it down to just being the texture of the eggs as they were very runny and tasted bland but I wasn’t expecting too much with my order. Unfortunately, I returned home and the sickness remained and I have been repeatedly sick since and I’m not able to stomach anything else. My friends ordered the bacon sandwiches and they seemed absolutely fine so I’m not wanting to discourage customers! I didn’t want to alert staff at the time as I didn’t know whether it was just texture problems, but as I’ve returned home it’s become apparent that this is not the case. I’ve attached a photo of my food from today. I would like to add that the staff were lovely, and there were no problems with seating especially considering we were a walk-in!

I've been asked for the table back at hospitality establishments before but never before I've even placed my order (after waiting to be seated and having been seated). Done with all the charm of a beauty queen with chicken pox and very abrasively, hence I cannot comment on the food. No sign of any acceptable customer service or any useful management of the establishment. There is probably a good reason it was emptier than I've ever seen it before (previous customer); save your time (and money) and queue at the Butterfly cabinet instead.

came here a few times now !!! feel like i can safely say this is a pretty sick ncl place it might seem expensive at start (it is lol) but for the quality you get i think its definitely worth it!! the korean beef sandwich is insane - my mate had to take half home since it was so big. the dirty chai is so good i get it every time, and their cakes are top tier 5/5 :)

Hands down the best breakfast and brunch I found in this town so far. Everything is just delicious! The three times I’ve been so far I didn’t manage to order something that was anything less than delicious.

Absolutely phenomenal food, lovely friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. Great all-day breakfast and brunch menu. Quality ingredients and good-sized portions (Sandwiches like door stops they're so massive). Also thoroughly recommend trying the cocktails and specials. They had a good range of sweet treats as well but we couldn't manage any more after the sandwiches.

Popped in here Sat 04/05/24. Recommend booking as this place is busy! No surprise though as the food and service are impeccable. We were well looked after. Great atmosphere. They keep some tables for walk ins. We sat outside with a coffee and waited for a table which was only about 20 minutes. Staff are very attentive and efficient. Loved it.

I believe this was my third visit to Aidan's Kitchen. As always, we had a great experience. The food was lovely. I had the Steak & Eggs, my girlfriend had the Mexicana. I would highly recommend both dishes. We also both had a Mocha each and I had an orange juice. Drinks orders were taken nice and fast and the drinks arrived promptly too. Cannot fault the coffee, a very tasty cup. The staff were very friendly, we had booked ahead of time and let them know we'd be bringing a pram which they had allocated space. Very handy because the restaurant isn't huge so that was very appreciated. I was surprised just how busy it was on a Wednesday morning. A great sign if you ask me. We will return.

This was our second visit and the food never fails. Good location and nice relaxing vibe. Noticed the price has gone up with inflation like everything else but hope it stays reasonably decent for us to visit more frequently than a once a while treat.

My husband and I went to Aidans on Monday and I literally can’t stop thinking about the eggs I had (cooked to absolute perfection)!!! We were looking for brunch in Newcastle and this came up… we went and it definitely won’t be our last time! Great service, 5 star food and lovely atmosphere! Just been for brunch and was absolutely brilliant. Service, food, atmosphere, value all 5 star. Only downside was I couldn’t try everything on the menu in one sitting! So will be back!

Best brunch in Newcastle - simply does not miss. Visited again this week and had the Eggs Benedict w/ Halloumi, followed by a Creme Egg Brownie. Service brilliant and reasonably priced - we will be back! 5 Star
