Cafe 16 At Newcastle Cathedral in Newcastle upon Tyne

I stayed at a local hotel but had breakfast here instead of paying their prices. Got mine at more than half the price. £7 for the most Gorgeous breakfast to start the day! Presentation was excellent, the most wonderful customer service. Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to all. It is not my first visit have had cake and tea here which was amazing too and it won’t be my last. Prices are perfect, this so helps with the cost of living these days.

Visiting from Ireland. The cafe is well worth a visit, spacious, beautiful environment. A hidden gem with excellent food and a super welcome and table service. Thank you.

Absolutely loved this place. This place has real character and creates second chances. Good drinks, fabulous cakes, friendly service. What's not to like?!

Popped in at lunchtime with 4 colleagues We asked for bacon rolls and were told breakfast menu finished but a chef popped up and said he would do us the breakfast rolls. Staff couldn’t more pleasant and cheerful Price of the food is great value and the quality is good . Highly recommended!!

Food was lovely and fresh and the staff very friendly. Would recommend. Plus the Cathedral is lovely to see.

My wife and I had a quick lunch here. Both had the bacon and brie sandwich, delicious! Good coffee choice of teas all served by welcoming, friendly staff and at a reasonable price. Will come again to try the excellent collection of cakes!

This café is located in a very attractive space inside Newcastle Cathedral. The coffee was good quality and very reasonably priced at £4.95 for two flat whites.

Absolutely fantastic place breakfast was outstanding service was second to none. Didn't want hash browns so was offered alternative what a pleasure.

What a hidden Gem The food on offer was lovely. Staff were excellent. Nice atmosphere. Toilets handy. All on offer was reasonably priced. Very good value. Looking forward to going again.

What an absolute find in Central Newcastle! Gorgeous space tucked behind the Cathedral and the most delicious and very reasonably priced food. We were a large (pre-arranged) group of friends with varying dietary needs and were all excellently catered for. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Can highly recommend - everything we had was lovely.

Hidden gem of a Café inside Newcastle Cathedral. They sell products from the bakery in HMP Northumberland, along with second chances to previous tenants of the prison service. Friendly staff and good value food and snacks. I definitely recommend anything from their sweet selection of cakes and treats.

Have wandered round Newcastle Cathedral before (I live here) but never visited the cafe. Lovely quiet surroundings, good value snd amazing cake selection. I choose the chocolate tiffin. Gorgeous. Well worth a visit . I will be coming back .

Went for a late lunch however was swayed by the amazing cakes on display. Lemon drizzle cake delicious as was mocha. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and inexpensive. Definitely a place to stop off at.

What a joy it was to be served by Clare, Sarah and Malcolm. The ability to smile at customers and engage in conversation makes all the difference. We felt very welcome and the prices were very affordable. Thank you for enhancing our day! Keep up the good work! Suzanne xxx

Great place friendly staff and good food

The place to be before the Monday Organ Recitals. Nice to support the Oswin Project too.

Very reasonable price and very tasty. We had a piece of carrot cake and a scone. Those were the best carrot cake and scone ever. There was a member of staff that seemed new there, I wanted to cheer him on as he was working so hard.

Good vegan and veggie options (especially for children). Nice environment and great service.

I have just been to The Castle and this place is next door. It isn't well advertised. I had a coffee and cheese scone for £4.95. It was very nice although the scone was rather salty.

Superb little cafe hidden away in the cathedral. Impressive range of cakes, snacks and nice coffee. Very good value for money and friendly staff, whats not to like? Well worth a visit.

A charming cafe to round off your trip to the Newcastle Cathedral. Lovely tea and Victoria sponge cake.

Gentle atmosphere positive vibe loads of cakes to choose from as well as sandwiches , quite reasonable. This is a charity venture so your money goes to a very good cause.

First up, the service is impeccable and I love the space and support the project but have to be honest that the food was a little bit under one day recently. Thin soup in rather tiddly bowls.Then the lemon drizzle cake appeared to be in a long distance relationship with any lemon. There was plentiful primrose hued icing to indicate lemon, but the original lemon drizzle concept of drizzling a syrup that includes juice and zest would have been much more delicious and no icing skill required. Am sure this was just a rare off day and I look forward to going back anyway. By the way, it's briiliant that cakes are being made in HMP's. Skills are being taught and confidence and meaning gained, disagree with previous post on this...

Lovely little cafe located within a cathedral but it’s slightly off putting to learn that their baked goods are made at HMP Northumberland. I’ll go for the coffee and perhaps avoid the cakes in future.

Recently discovered Cafe 16 at Newcastle Cathedral. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

Absolutely lovely! The staff were phenomenal, in our group we had ordered 7 cooked breakfasts ( 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, 1 egg, mushrooms, tomato, beans, toast and a hot drink) at the price of £5.95! They all came at exactly the same time perfectly hot and wonderfully prepared. We were waited on excellently and had anything we could have needed. A lovely experience and in support of the Oswin Project ❤️

This café inside Newcastle Cathedral was perfect for our walk around Newcastle from the River Tyne quayside. Great location, plenty of seating in a lovely room. A good choice of food & drinks at reasonable prices. Staff and service were excellent.

Cafe and coffee 5.50. Cafe worth they on its own, not tiny portions and well worth the visit. Supports a charity and the chefs are superb. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Excellent service The staff were friendly and welcoming. The cathedral was stunning, I have never been in even though I have worked in the centre of Newcastle for many years. My daughter loved it, especially the cake. We will be sure to come back again...
