Superb small plates of food at this small but perfectly formed restaurant. This was our second visit after having lunch here on their terrace in the summer. This time we came for dinner and repeated a couple of dishes we had had before (the sourdough with ricotta and the tuna tartare with curry sauce) and then branched out with the very tasty fish tacos , cod cheeks, Jerusalem artichokes (which transformed my opinion of that vegetable!), broccoli and cabbage. We did over order a bit, we couldn't finish the broccoli, but it was all so delicious it was hard to leave anything out. Also have on good authority that the pork chop is divine. I also had an oyster with a blackberry (I think) and jalapeno sauce which was so good I had another one! Highly recommend

At 12.20pm whilst walking from Whitstable I checked on open table, there was seats available to book for 12.30pm. As we were walking with kids I did not want to fiddle around with the phone to proceed with the booking. Arrived at the restaurant at 12.40pm. Restaurant only had 2 tables seated, lady at reception on her iPad still had 12.30pm on her booking screen showing 4/8 available. She went in to check with a colleague if we could have the table, we were refused a table, said we could only had the table at 1.30pm? In 50mins when the restaurant only had 2 tables seated? And if other tables are coming I doubt they'll be vacating their table in 50 mins. I don't normally leave negative reviews but I honestly felt they could have accommodated us but just simply refused to. Needless to say we won't be attempting this restaurant again in the future.

Land + Sea in Whitstable is a gem in the Kent dining scene, offering a well-crafted blend of British coastal cuisine with a modern twist. Located near the picturesque waterfront, it sets a cozy yet upscale atmosphere that feels both inviting and refined. The décor reflects the coastal charm of Whitstable, with nautical touches and a relaxed, intimate ambiance. The menu at Land + Sea is thoughtfully designed around fresh, local ingredients, especially the seafood, which takes center stage. The tapas-style dishes are a particular highlight, allowing diners to explore a variety of local flavors in shareable portions. The cuttlefish, for example, is tender with a perfect char, often dressed in a light, tangy marinade that brings out the best in its delicate flavor. The cod cheeks, known for their buttery texture, are lightly seasoned and seared to create a crispy exterior with a soft, flaky center. Paired with a lemon or aioli dipping sauce, they capture the essence of Whitstable’s fresh, ocean-sourced cuisine in each bite. If seafood isn’t your preference, there are still plenty of choices, like expertly prepared steaks and seasonal vegetable dishes that showcase the quality of Land + Sea’s ingredients. Drinks-wise, the wine list and cocktail offerings are curated to complement the menu, with options ranging from local vineyards to creative, fresh-ingredient cocktails. The atmosphere at Land + Sea is a charming blend of coastal elegance and warmth. The interiors are tastefully nautical with a modern, relaxed design that’s equally suited for casual meals or special occasions. The staff add to the experience, striking a balance between attentive and approachable. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and provide helpful recommendations, ensuring each guest feels welcome and well-cared for. Overall, Land + Sea in Whitstable beautifully captures the essence of coastal dining, with fresh, flavorful dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a must-visit for seafood lovers and anyone seeking a memorable meal by the sea.

The chefs cook literally in front of you with precision, care and amazing focus. Food is incredible with only the slight moan that the truffle fries could and should be more truffly and fluffy. The team are a team and work in perfect harmony, like a bunch of friends who've known each other for years. Their passion for great food and service is breathtaking. Read some reviews and thought this place sounded a little different. We were staying close by and were NOT disappointed. The menu does change regularly so in summary: the truffle fries were plentiful and crisp. Croquettes so creamy and flavourful. Smoked trout tender and the sourdough with ‘Graceburn’ (an English version of feta) and butter beans surprisingly tasty. Curry mussels in a sauce I could bathe in it was so glorious and lastly, excellent coffee and chocolate mousse. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff, a truly relaxing atmosphere and I was surprised at how reasonable the whole meal was (we only had half a pint of lager and some water.) We visit Whitstable a couple of times a year and will be coming back here as it’s a real hidden gem.

Slightly unassuming plot on main street but really lovely and cosy inside. Have passed this place by previously but wished I hadn't. Friendly and warm staff, nice ambience, food interesting and menu changes regularly (they said) to reflect in-season produce. My fish was perfectly cooked. Called in also for an early breakfast next day as way too early for my bus (bus-stop very close by) and again pleasantly surprised by the selections and service. Indulged in a bacon, egg and rocket brioche that is not my norm but was awesome. Would have liked a lingering coffee out on the front patio but my carriage was due - another time most definitely !

This enthusiasm spilled over into the restaurant where the servers were extremely friendly and accommodating - we really enjoyed the whole experience. I must also mention the chef - he went to great lengths to accommodate my friend’s dietary intolerance and even deconstructed or tweaked some of the dishes so that we could all still share them. The chef Ben is amazing, always friendly and charming despite being busy and his menu is always changing, creative and delicious. The last time we visited we tried the miso tiger prawns, wow they were fab, and Jake the lovely server brought bread to mop up the tasty buttery juices. YUMMY. This is an excellent restaurant. We were a group of 5 and were welcomed well and sat at a spacious table, plenty of room, nice relaxed vibe in the restaurant. Drinks menu very good with plenty of Kent/English options. We were guided to an English wine which was really excellent. Service was superb, attentive and thoughtful from all we dealt with. For example, one of our party dropped their knife on the floor. There were no waiting staff in the room at the time, but despite that the sound had been heard and within seconds someone was over asking what item was needed - that's over and above. The food was wonderful - varied menu, lots of interesting things to try, all beautifully cooked and presented. There were many highlights but the cabbage with crispy onions and the deep fried pickles stood out, and the salmon tacos were to die for! In short, do yourself a favour and make the short (and lovely) walk along the coast from Whitstable to Tankerton to Land and Sea - you won't regret it!

Don't miss this fantastic restaurant if in Whitstable area. In a street being the Marine Hotel Tankerton. Small plates, medium plates and large "as and when" service. Have to say a concept i was iffy about till this meal. Cant' praise the food enough, all familiar headlines like oyster and mackerel and chops but served with flair and interesting ingredients but not overstated and unnecessary. Like the rhubarb with oyster. The korean flavoured mayo with fried pickles. Go and you will see what I mean. Oh and really good front of house and a short but interesting wine list, we had a very well priced SA fizz. The locals are very lucky to have this. Finally I thought it was great value.

The restaurant feels very confused It's clearly trying to be something that it isn't. The pricing is all wrong, and the portion sizes are just absurdly small for the costs. It needs to be a casual restaurant it's not a tasting menu. The quality of the cooking has gone downhill intensely. The chefs are likely diving in too deep without proper culinary training. Initially everything was well balanced (albeit small). However, the last few times I've been everything was either not seasoned well or absolutely drenched in butter to point of severe grease overload. I would recommend everyone go to Whitstable and find a better restaurant better priced while the chefs sort out the menu.

Super food, a lovely place to eat. We booked for 6.00pm on a Friday evening and on arriving at 8 minutes to 6 we were told that the restaurant was not open yet and we should go and have a drink nearby and come back which we did. We enjoyed our 3 course meal but based on the fact that we are only allowed the table for 2 hours the service was not quick enough. We were presented with our bill ( we didn't ask for it ) and were then asked to pay when we were still eating dessert. I found this rude and intrusive. We paid when we had finished and left by 8.02pm. Such a lovely restaurant and I understand the 2 hour rule, we are local and this is the norm. It could have been handled better by the waiting staff so we weren't left feeling we were a nuisance and holding up the next booking.

A group of us were having a reunion and booked the 'back room' for a set price 'little plates' menu - and what a menu! The whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The quality and variety of the food was fabulous and everyone was praising it all the way back to our hotel and the next day and will be for many days in the future! Thank You Ben and your team for giving us such a feast. If there was one negative, it was that we were unable to finish everything on the table - we were soooo full! I look forward to my next visit - I have serious desert catching up to do! But honestly, I was glad to have maxed out on that cabbage dish even if it meant the bread and butter pudding will have to wait for another day!

Menu on Web page is nothing like what is available at the restaurant! Very expensive for what it is! £23.00+ for a very simple main dish and £15+ for an equally simple starter. Maybe OK for Central London but not for a restaurant in Tankerton High Street!

We Paid a visit on our Wedding Anniversary so It had to be special! And boy was it Special we were greeted by a young lady with the biggest smile and shown to our seat. Ordered our drinks and some Olives which I have to say were some of the best Olives I have had anywhere else in Europe they were in a Chile brine with a orange and Rosemary touch blinking amazing! So I knew we were off to a great start. Followed by Crispy prawns and a Garlic dip with a twist you could eat the hole thing I mean the prawn was hole eyes Head ETC Now that was a first for me but O boy they again were Amazing a first but never a last. Also a shrimp /Chriso flavour dish with a sourdough toast bread again blinking flavour was amazing. So while having this I was slowly getting though a lovely chilled Mexican beer . Then the Main we went for the Duck which was cooked just how you would expect it it nice and pink all the way through with the trimmings I can not praise this place enough in fact we popped back in a few days later just to have some more Olives . So thanks Chef and the Team from the Kitchens

I had the brush here and it was excellent. The sourdough bread was thick and tasty and the serrano ham was great. I particularly liked the scrambled egg on the toast. The staff seemed very pleasant and the restaurant was spotless

Nice atmosphere and service but the freshness of fish is very questionable. I took the dory and it smelled very bad at first. I ate 2 small pieces anyway and felt bad an hour later. Definitely not coming back.

I think this place is a gem. It is quite small, but bigger than it looks from the outside. I go there to eat, but there is a small bar area if you want to go just for a drink, especially when the cocktails are on offer. I have always found the food and service great, and enjoyed a buzzy atmosphere. I also think it is very reasonably priced.

We are staying in Canterbury and were completely thrilled with the food and service and atmosphere at The Lady Luck! The vegan choices were so many and difficult to choose - all sounded amazing! We shared the Mushroom Bourguignon Pie with mashed potatoes, gravy, and peas and OMG - unbelievably delicious! The vegan chili and chips was equally perfect! The music and atmosphere is everything we were looking for after a chilly December hike. This pub does not disappoint!

Under the previous owners from Essex this pub was amazing after the revamp, the food and atmosphere was fantastic and they got better clientele in. I've been back since under new ownership and the place is disgusting and full of drinks and louts that have ruined what was a lovely pub. I wouldn't set foot inside here again as it's full of drug taking lager louts who will ruin the expensive revamped decor. When I visited for a drink there was lads waiting to get in the toilet to have a sniff! Avoid!!
