We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at land and sea. The food was flawless with friendly, efficient service

My husband and I had breakfast here and it was delicious. Top quality ingredients only (delicious sausages, massive mushrooms etc) along with big slices of toasted sourdough and a huge mug of tea. Very reasonably priced. All in great surroundings and service with a smile. We need more places like this that really care about the quality of the food and put thought into the decor. A great experience.

Don't miss this fantastic restaurant if in Whitstable area. In a street being the Marine Hotel Tankerton. Small plates, medium plates and large "as and when" service. Have to say a concept i was iffy about till this meal. Cant' praise the food enough, all familiar headlines like oyster and mackerel and chops but served with flair and interesting ingredients but not overstated and unnecessary. Like the rhubarb with oyster. The korean flavoured mayo with fried pickles. Go and you will see what I mean. Oh and really good front of house and a short but interesting wine list, we had a very well priced SA fizz. The locals are very lucky to have this. Finally I thought it was great value.

Absolutely gorgeous food! I would definitely be back soon. The wine selection is also fab. Very friendly staff and can't fault their friendliness. Strange bathroom, though, but great experience.

Had an incredibly well-valued, delicious, interesting lunch on a Sunday. The yellow fin tuna tartare, seaweed bhaji and mushroom croquettes were the highlights. Excellent friendly service. Will be returning imminently and often!

Gorgeous food, excellent service, perfect Tankerton ambience. This was our second time having dinner at Land + Sea and we will be back.

We stumbled upon Land & Sea when we were at Northover and stopped for a quick coffee. We liked the look of the menu and booked for the next Saturday night - only option was early sitting but this suited us. We really enjoyed our food - prawns, tuna, anchovies, lamb - in a tapas style as dishes came out when ready - it was right up our street - interesting flavours, excellent combinations which we felt worked very well - my husband isn’t a vegetable fan but he was completely taken with the cabbage side dish and ate it all! Small choice of desserts but both were heavenly. Friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely wine - Californian pinot was a great choice. We will be back!

A regularly breakfast visitor and dining for the first time in the evening tonight. What a great chef and amazing local produce and wine. Ambience was great, lovely selection of English wi Ed and a great diverse menu. A must try for any foodies.

Been three times in dec for brunch. Amazing food, great service and friendly staff. Live in Essex but will deffo come back for dinner soon. Absolute class & far superior too most of the Whitstable restaurants if just walk little further!

The restaurant feels very confused It's clearly trying to be something that it isn't. The pricing is all wrong, and the portion sizes are just absurdly small for the costs. It needs to be a casual restaurant it's not a tasting menu. The quality of the cooking has gone downhill intensely. The chefs are likely diving in too deep without proper culinary training. Initially everything was well balanced (albeit small). However, the last few times I've been everything was either not seasoned well or absolutely drenched in butter to point of severe grease overload. I would recommend everyone go to Whitstable and find a better restaurant better priced while the chefs sort out the menu.

Excellent restaurant for all times of the day, run by an enthusiastic chef/ owner who changes his menu every few days to keep it fresh and exciting. Limited menu but very interesting dishes and not overpriced like others. Welcoming staff who complete the experience. This is how more restaurants should be run , will visit again. Recommended if you are in this area and want to avoid rip-off Whitstable.

Really nice food, excellent service. I'm local, and it was my first visit — I prefer a traditional caf, but most of those have disappeared from Whitstable/Tankerton these days, Whitstable especially. However, pleasantly surprised by the tasty, decent portions at this eaterie. Will definitely go back. Recommended.

What a gem of a restaurant here in Tankerton. Fabulous vibe as soon as we walked through the door, lovely, busy and warm. Polite and friendly staff, excellent menu and a fine choice of wines and beverages. We chose the cheese boards for our lunch. The 7 different cheeses were absolutely fabulous, generous, served with quince jelly , relish and unusual crackers. I would highly recommend this venue and can't wait to visit with my husband . Super food, a lovely place to eat. We booked for 6.00pm on a Friday evening and on arriving at 8 minutes to 6 we were told that the restaurant was not open yet and we should go and have a drink nearby and come back which we did. We enjoyed our 3 course meal but based on the fact that we are only allowed the table for 2 hours the service was not quick enough. We were presented with our bill ( we didn't ask for it ) and were then asked to pay when we were still eating dessert. I found this rude and intrusive. We paid when we had finished and left by 8.02pm. Such a lovely restaurant and I understand the 2 hour rule, we are local and this is the norm. It could have been handled better by the waiting staff so we weren't left feeling we were a nuisance and holding up the next booking.

Fish is excellent. All of the food is fresh and amazing. Staff go above and beyond. Try to sit in the front part of the restaurant. Outside is lovely on a warm night.

We have been going regularly for quite a while the head chef is a very talented young man- the food is excellent (cooked from fresh) and the staff are always very friendly and helpful - thoroughly recommend it.

Excellent lunch. Well worth a visit even if a bit out of the way. Quality of food was as good as we had at the Sportsman. Great variety of small portions. Well presented. Very good service.

Wow wow wow! We'd heard how good this place was, and we weren't disappointed. From start to finish, the food served was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who fancies something just a little different, but that doesn't cost the earth. Well done to everyone from the chefs to the waiting staff, it was superb!!

So the website is outstanding !!! And this creates a massive expectation level …….. Let me tell you they actually deliver !!! The food is outstanding I had the the Tiger king prawns and Pork ribeye The menu changes daily so what you see on the website is just a snapshot. The staff are both knowledgeable and engaging. You probably want a table in the front of the restaurant . There is no bar so pre drinks I would recommend The Royal or The Marine Hotel both are a very short walk away . I’m definitely going back soon ……… Enjoy

Visited for my birthday was greeted at the door by a waitress who made you feel welcome from the start ,we sat at the back of the restaurant as it was a bit quieter there. Waiter was attentive very helpful with dishes and recommended dishes too,was served our drinks straightaway and wasn't kept waiting. My partner had sardines for starters which we're so tasty ,I had ciabatta with the melted butter and samphire very delicious, for mains we had the duck and the venison served with the parmasan chips was the best meal out in a long while. Wine was great too. Would highly recommend this restaurant as a great all rounder. Compliments to the chef . Loved the pictures on the wall that the chef painted. Will be back soon. 10-10

A group of us were having a reunion and booked the 'back room' for a set price 'little plates' menu - and what a menu! The whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The quality and variety of the food was fabulous and everyone was praising it all the way back to our hotel and the next day and will be for many days in the future! Thank You Ben and your team for giving us such a feast. If there was one negative, it was that we were unable to finish everything on the table - we were soooo full! I look forward to my next visit - I have serious desert catching up to do! But honestly, I was glad to have maxed out on that cabbage dish even if it meant the bread and butter pudding will have to wait for another day!

Menu on Web page is nothing like what is available at the restaurant! Very expensive for what it is! £23.00+ for a very simple main dish and £15+ for an equally simple starter. Maybe OK for Central London but not for a restaurant in Tankerton High Street!

We Paid a visit on our Wedding Anniversary so It had to be special! And boy was it Special we were greeted by a young lady with the biggest smile and shown to our seat. Ordered our drinks and some Olives which I have to say were some of the best Olives I have had anywhere else in Europe they were in a Chile brine with a orange and Rosemary touch blinking amazing! So I knew we were off to a great start. Followed by Crispy prawns and a Garlic dip with a twist you could eat the hole thing I mean the prawn was hole eyes Head ETC Now that was a first for me but O boy they again were Amazing a first but never a last. Also a shrimp /Chriso flavour dish with a sourdough toast bread again blinking flavour was amazing. So while having this I was slowly getting though a lovely chilled Mexican beer . Then the Main we went for the Duck which was cooked just how you would expect it it nice and pink all the way through with the trimmings I can not praise this place enough in fact we popped back in a few days later just to have some more Olives . So thanks Chef and the Team from the Kitchens

Great service. They were able to accommodate us (and our dog) very quickly with their outdoor seating and provided blankets so we could comfortably enjoy our meal. The food was phenomenal and we would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Food was fantastic (as always), but we had to wait 2 hours till our main course arrived. I know it was a busy Friday eve but we had taken my in-laws as we'd told them how great it was I know it takes time when good food is cooked to order but we weren't reassured that things were on their way, and were left with our starter plates sat in front of us long after we'd finished eating, so just felt a bit overlooked. Just a shame as we are very supportive of our local businesses but probably won't go back for a while. Staff are v friendly but would have appreciated an apology for the walt.

This restaurant is THE BEST. The food is extremely tasty, great portion sizes and really well priced. It’s THE gem in Kent. I’ve been back time and time again with different family and friends because I can rest assured that we’re going to have a great meal. The staff are also super lovely, really tentative and friendly! Went there today around 8pm. I understand it was busy, but it took close to 2 hrs for us to receive the food. The quality and taste of the food is top notch, however for the price some of the dishes are too small. The staff was really friendly and nice. Decent place overall.

Went as a group of 5. Nice simple, straightforward atmosphere. We had a selection of the starter/light dishes to share as an opener which we thoroughly enjoyed. A mixture of mains were all excellent - make sure to order extra sourdough to mop up the sauces. The fries with aoli and parmesan are a great side dish. If there was one disappointment it was the dessert. I had the fried bread and butter pudding. It was too sweet, though it has to be said I don't have a particularly sweet tooth. I do like a pudding to round off meal but too many restaurants treat dessert as an afterthought.

Food was alright in terms of quality, but do not come here if you're hungry. Had dinner here last Saturday and won't be coming back. Prices do not match portions. The small plates are around £10 but with worth £2 of food in them. Good on them for making such profits, but it feels like you're taking the mic. I would understand the prices if the food was top-tier, but honestly it was quite ordinary. We order a side of chips and it was literally half a potato with fancy mayo on top. I understand austerity and import prices must have an influence in plate prices, but it felt insulting when we had to pay our bill whilst hungry (£32 each, no drinks).

What food there was tasted good but there was so little of it. I understand in these times of austerity there have to be cutbacks but we ordered the meat platter and the cheese platter to share and there were three small pieces of cheese on the plate (wish I’d taken a picture to show how small they were) and a very small amount of crackers. With the meat platter the meat was incredibly fatty and we had one slice of bread cut in half to go with it. So disappointing. The crackers and bread are the cheap bit. If they’d bulked it out with that I might have forgiven how tight everything else was. We had a ginger beer each and when we received our bill we’re stunned to see they were £4.50 for each glass. £4.50??!?!! Yes. We should have checked the drink price on the menu but it didn’t cross my mind we were in rip off land. Felt squarely ripped off and won’t go back again. Avoid if you’re hungry.

Went for lunch - very limited soft drinks menu, lunch menu wasn’t particularly appealing ordered deli meat board which was quite boring, sour dough bread, which arrived burnt and was with a tiny bit of butter certainly not enough for the 2 slices!! The fries...

We popped in as we were passing and decided on some lunch. The staff welcomed us and the young lady looking after us was so lovely. The menu is varied and we had olives and sour dough bread for nibbles which was incredible. The butter with the salt flakes on complimented the sough dough perfectly. My wife had the lamb and I had the pork ribeye both dishes were cooked to perfection and we enjoyed every bit of it. The side dishes were fried potatoes, with herb and anchovies, jersey royals in garlic and purple sprouting broccoli. The food was incredible and the service exceptional. Thank you to all the staff and the young lady who looked after us we will definitely be back.

Delightful experience, mouth-watering food, and excellent selection of alcohol, especially the Alhambra lager. We had the cheesy chips and fish tacos for a light snack, which were delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff (especially Stuart and Ben) and the location is minutes away from the beach. Highly recommended. Will come again.

Such appalling attitude from staff at this restaurant. Had booked an outside table as we had our dog with us. Cold night … asked if they could pull down the side screens to give a bit of protection from wind… basic shrug of the shoulder from waiter… put the heaters on but totally ineffective. Staff showed no interest despite us asking to pull down side screens. Basically, they went back into restaurant and ignored us! We left.

Can't recommend enough - this little gem is a real treat. Hidden away in Tankerton, Land + Sea serve food that puts the Oyster Company to shame. We booked a table for Sunday lunch on the Coronation bank holiday with four hours' warning and were cheerfully told that they had space for us. Service really friendly and unobtrusive, food local and fantastic, an impressive wine list, and the sea is just around the corner for a postprandial stroll.

A little cosy restaurant, with simple but tasty dishes. My friends found this place and it was good! Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 hakes and 2 skates (they ran out of sea bream 🥲) plus 2 bites to share, and that was enough for the night, plus the fish tasted fresh, and easily peeled off. Customer service was good and attentive. Highly recommended place if you're eating in Whitstable
