If your looking for quality fish and chips in Herne bay 😋, this is the place to go. Believe me you will not be disappointed. We have the pensioners fish n' chips, two teas, £20. What more could you ask for.

I go with friends every Wednesday and are very happy to go. The staff are happy to slightly change their menu according to our tastes. The only slight downside for me is that it can be noisy from the traffic in the High Street at times. E

Excellent food and service. The best fish, chips and mushy peas I have had in ages (possibly enhanced by being by the seaside). I had the seniors £10 deal which included a cup of coffee. I will definitely visit again when I come to see my friend in Canterbury.

I ordered a large fish and chips, sausages, a pie, and a large chip. It was cooked fresh, so I was more than happy to wait. I took my order and went off to a nice location to tuck in. All of it was delicious, but the large fish was missing its chips. It was too far to go back, so that was annoying. I would just say to double-check your order before you leave. Otherwise, I would return when in the area, as it was very tasty. See photo for up to date menu prices. All the online ones seem to be well outdated.

Ordered a large fried code. While the displayed price is £9, apparently for having it inside it's £14 which the guy wanted to charge without explaining. Realising the difference, I took it home. Looking at the premises, the toilets, it's a total rip off. The code is also retry regular so definitely not worth visiting. Find another decent place.

Wow!! The cod and chips meal at this chippy is second to none!! It's a large meal so go there with an empty stomach, I've been to 12 different UK seaside towns this year and ate cod and chips in all of them, this chippy beats all of them 😁

Visiting family in Herne Bay today and ordered from The Happy Fryer. Food was delivered very promptly, driver friendly, food itself nice and hot, portion sizes very generous, accompanying salads very tasty. Not first time we have eaten in the restaurant or had take away. Really good value for money. Thank you.

Plaice portion size exceeded expectations. The batter was not greasy, not too heavy. We were served quickly, food arrived without much ado too. Will definitely return to try rock fish! Thank you!

Simply fantastic, lovely staff, great food

I visit Happy Fryer every week with friends or family. I've never had a bad meal. Fish and chips is delicious. Omelettes are amazing. Breakfast is great. Staff are helpful.

the fish is bad tasteless the chips are nothing I threw them in the trash and I was robbed for £30 I do not recommend this place be careful how you pay with an ATM card..

Chose this place as others in the area were quite busy, but there's a reason for them being busy and this place being dead. Firstly, cannot fault the staff as they were lovely and the area itself was clean. When given our cutlery, my husband opened his napkin to find his were covered in tomato ketchup so had to change them. I ordered cod and chips with garden peas, and my husband ordered a half pounder burger with onion rings. His arrived first and was a sorry burger of just meat and cheese. Weirdly no onions or lettuce like anywhere else would. My cod was bright orange, the peas looked diseased, and the chips were dry, old and flavourless. Really disappointed as we wanted a nice lunch away from the seafront but never again. Whoever made the food clearly can't be bothered anymore and it's sad to see (and have to pay for).

Staff were really nice on arrival, not bad prices and quick to bring the food out. Bacon had a really weird texture but tasted fine

Sadly used to love this place but it's delivery service is letting it down. My delivery was 30 mins late and luke warm despite ringing 3 times was told too much traffic on road a complete lie. Sadly won't be using again don't know if it's new owners but it's not what it used to be

Simply first class fish & chips Being of an age we ordered the Senior Citizens fish & chips. The portions were enormous and the fish cooked to perfection, the best we have tasted for an awful long time, and the price was very reasonable especially in this day & age. Well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed. Would highly recommend and, no doubt we will return.

The stuff are rude I put the chairs under for them and then they said leave them like they are and the portion size of the fish and chips were too small too small £7.50 rip off won't be coming back

Happened upon this place while wandering one Sunday . Decided to pop in for lunch - what a find, food was all cooked fresh, lovely fresh side salad, good sized portions and lovely service. We will definitely be back.

Had a regular cod with mushy peas and they made me some scraps being from Yorkshire Beautiful batter and the fish was massive and white

In herne Bay for a shopping trip and came across happy fryer first observation was it was busy that always good to me an empty restaurant is not a good sign for me ordered burger and chips along with cod and chips and the food was absolutely brilliant and the price was extremely good I would recommend to anybody extremely good service and food

Wonderful lunch here today! Welcomed in on arrival by a lovely lady. Found a seat and was given 5 mins to read the menu... so much to choose from! Food arrived quite quickly and was surprisingly fantastic! Chips were amazing... proper chip shop ones and hubby enjoyed a big breakfast which was not greasy and perfectly cooked. Service overall was 10/10 and we even spotted the hostess giving out free sweets to the children (with parents permission of course!). We recommend this cafe/restaurant/chippy and can't wait to return! 💗

Was walking up towards are normal fish and chip shop we go to when in Herne bay but because the seagulls are such a pest we decided to eat in the happy fryer. What a find the food was lovely and far more than we could eat great place will definitely use again.

The service was prompt and polite. The cleanliness was good. The only issue I had was the chilli I ordered was tiny. As one of the more expensive items on the menu you don’t expect a tiny portion served on a child’s plate. I mentioned this to the waiter thinking he would have said something to the proprietor but nothing was said when I paid. So who knows?

Found this place a couple of streets back from the sea front where we found most of the cafes and shops were already busy. Service was great and friendly and food was great, we had cod and chips which was freshly cooked and available with garden or mushy peas. Total was £21 for the two of us with two cups of tea also, which felt reasonable value.

Good value and excellent food. A good variety of meals from all day breakfasts to fish and chips, jacket potatoes and salad. Great service from all the staff. What's not to like.

Came here as was told the place had good vegan options. The staff were very friendly and helpful to ensure we got something nice. We got the veggie wrap that was veganised and chips. Very tasty.

Excellent value for money. Lovely large portion of fish and chips. Friendly helpful staff. Next time we're back in herne Bay this will be where we get out fish and chips from again.

My favourite place to eat in Herne Bay. Everything is amazing. Family run business and they are all friendly and so helpful. The new online menu for takeaway is so intuitive. Can't wait to try the new Menu when you reopen after covid

Stopped here for some breakfast today Good value for money Clean Staff very welcoming couldn’t complain BUT People walking in with no masks on not challenged by staff Half a dozen staff only 2 /3 wearing their masks 😷 properly Others staff had them on but around their necks Its a lovely little cafe but won’t be returning unless they enforce The mask wearing rules or even challenge people not wearing Them As I know some people can’t track and trace if you have the app

Got to say, perfect fish and chips. Visited several times and each time the service has been great,friendly and swift. Can fault this place. Sausages, pies and spam fritters to die for. Keep frying guys, highly recommend.

We are glad we stopped at this place just away from the seafront. Delicious fish and chips and the side order of calamari was cooked to perfection. I'm not a big fan of batter but it was done superbly. We will be back.

Family day out in Hearn bay. Took our niece and god daughter out for the day and see the happy fryer cafe. Went and had some lunch and it was delicious freshly cooked and a good portion. The staff was friendly polite. I had the American breakfast and everyone else had the special breakfast. When I come back to Hearn bay I will go back as was totally happy with the food staff and it was nice to see all seats and tables was cleaned and wiped down after very body had finished. Very safe very nice very good.
