The Lady Luck in Canterbury

Absolutely love this place. Always so welcoming and the food catered for both vegan and non vegan. First place we head to every time we visit. Thank you to all the amazing friendly staff for welcoming us and for the amazing service.

This is one of multiple trips we’ve had here and it never disappoints. It’s a friendly, unique pub that has such a vibe. Great drinks choice and food was amazing. So much choice for all. Dont believe the few who are keyboard warriors, never been asked to tip. This place is a find!

Ordered food at the bar and was asked if I wanted to pay a tip (before having the food?) the bar lady then watched as I punched in the amount….awkward and uncomfortable! My own fault, but I paid a small tip as was put on the spot. Was annoyed at myself but more with them for asking. We both had a baguette, can’t go too wrong with that, but food was tasteless, apart from the chips which were orange and burst fat into your mouth. First time I’ve ever left chips on my plate. Nice decor, right up my street, but won’t return because of the rudeness and sub-standard.

Over cooked food. Poor ale choice. Inattentive service. Asked for a tip before we saw the food or experienced the service.

Just happen to come across this delightful pub. Great atmosphere, good food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend

Visiting Canterbury for the very first time, over Christmas, my partner, dog and I were hungry and thirsty having spent the afternoon exploring the cathedral. What a great pub. Very reasonably priced compared to a couple of others we tried in the city centre, the Dark Star American Pale Ale, Gosling's Dark Rum and burgers with home-made dips and mayonnaise were superb. Very welcoming staff too. We'll be back.

We’ve been here several times for lunch now, it’s always crazy busy but we manage to find somewhere to sit 🙂 The staff here are fantastic, really friendly and always making sure no one has to wait very long. Then there’s the food!! It is AMAZING!!! So reasonable for the heart of Canterbury, and it is absolutely divine!! We had the house burger yesterday, and both my husband and I agreed it was the best burger we had eaten in a VERY long time!! Even though the pub was crammed as always, with even more waiting for a table, the food came out in a decent time and delicious and hot. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for the pub, staff and food!

Fantastic pub! Wither you go on a quiet night or a busy weekend night the atmosphere is one you don't get elsewhere, staff are fantastic (special mention to Jehmima and Kai on Saturday night, who gave me drink recommendations, spent time talking to me even when it was busy and were a great duo to watch having fun when working together). They have 2 for £10 cocktails, rock music, great staff & friendly locals . Just wish I lived locally!

This is a great spot for a drink and good conversation. The atmosphere is awesome, great music. We were here during our 5 year wedding anniversary, the ladies behind the counter took the time to write us a list of things we needed to do. Looking forward to returning!

Cool looking pub with option of beer Garden, beer was under a fiver, food was really good, big sizes and reasonably priced. Staff were nice and helpful and place was clean

So pleased to go to this pub whilst visiting Canterbury. Very quirky, music themed (alternative) and offered a great menu for vegans and vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Staff were very friendly. My only tiny criticism was the food all came out and we had to ask for cutlery. Not best practice. Would definitely recommend.

This is the most underrated pub. We’ve never had a bad meal, drinks are very reasonable too. The menu is a godsend for us as one of our daughters has serious allergies to eggs and nuts. They are super clued up about allergens so would recommend this pub to anybody with an allergy. They have a great vegan range of foods too, as well as lots of meat options and fish options. There’s a lovely little beer garden at the back or if you like people watching, there are a few tables on the high street. Would highly recommend 🫶🏽

Came across this little gem of a pub, staff friendly, food delicious and a good price. Added bonus they are dog friendly too, so win win. Definitely worth a visit.

I've been a patron for over 5 years, and went out with my housemate and friend. I also work in a pub so know how busy and rowdy people can get. I was told earlier my mate was a bit drunk from a colleague of mine in the night at my establishment and was told by the bar staff as I came in only to change their minds and make me feel like a liar. Never again will I return to this place. Don't try to be a local, they don't treat their loyal customer the right way.

Popped in here for a spot of lunch when visiting Canterbury for the first time. Was blown away by the vegan options. Very affordable and tasty. Brilliant rock music atmosphere! Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Definitely will return! highly recommend 10/10!

As a couple whose combined ages are almost a 100, we were nervous that we weren’t part of the crowd they hoped to attract. We didn’t need to concern ourselves! We got a great welcome and were shown to a discrete corner table socially distanced from our fellow customers.My wife had a vegan burger and I went for my favourite of the moment - bacon and blue cheese burger. We shared onion rings (washed down with lime and soda) and after the main were both satisfied and stuffed.Nevertheless we ploughed on and had desserts - we are on holiday - it would be rude not to! We had apple pie with ice-cream and a sundae respectively. Again fabulous food.We loved it. We’ve been there and bought the T-shirt - literally - they also sell merchandise. Would recommend…

Absolutely love this place, favourite pub by a mile! The drinks are delicious and so is the food, and the veggie nugs are my fav! I always have a great time here whether I come with family, as a couple, or with friends. The staff are 10/10 every time and the service is bang on, they're so friendly and have a laugh with you, and it's welcoming as an openly queer person that the pub and staff are so welcoming and express their own individuality. Can't recommend this pub enough, if you get the chance to go, do! :)

My friend and I booked for lunch last weekend as we're vegan and dairy free, there were lots of options, really nice to see a lot of options just dairy free instead of one vegan option and the rest dairy. Really great nachos with fake cheese which I haven't seen on a menu in ages, great puddings we had the chocolate brownie sundae. We weren't able to stay for drinks but the others coming from behind the bar looked great. It's not often you see a rock type alternative pub in Kent so was lovely to visit, I'll definitely be going back again!!!!

We came with friends for drinks and food. I was presented with a wide variety of gins which was banging, and I lived off the peach one for the evening. When we ordered food, Kate the mushroom queen sorted me out with some raw mushrooms with the side salad,life made when paired with the sweet chilli sauce from my vegan nug nugs. Found this gem by luck( no pun intended) tried to get a table and staff went out of there way to help , we ended up in the beer garden wish was great so went back the next night for a meal , we were shown to a table and left for a couple of minutes to look at menu once order was placed the food took only 10 minutes to arrive and the food was of really good standard and very reasonably priced. On the way out I even purchased a t shirt for £12 which I thought was well priced, we both loved the pub and next time we’re in Canterbury will definitely be back

It was our 1st time in Canterbury & with the new guidelines i looked at different pubs to book & eat in. I choose this one as there was a great variety in vegetarian food & it said it was a music pub. I know that the pub is unable to have live music but there was no background music which would have been nice. The food was very nice & value for money.

We needed a vegan and dog friendly place to eat on our way to our holiday cottage. The Lady Luck came up on a search and we booked via email. Arrived and met by friendly staff and sat with our pooch under the table! Food was delicious and we stayed for the fantastic vegan friendly puddings. Value for money and will definitely return. Halloween decorations and music added to the atmosphere and made a drizzly day much brighter! Thank you!

HARRY was amazing waiter, was able to recommend a great drink and amazing customer service would definitely come back when Harry is working very helpful very quick.

Mi novio y yo disfrutamos de una cena en el Lady Luck recientemente. Inicialmente me atrajo la amplia gama de platos sin carne con un sonido increíble (soy vegano, mi novio es vegetariano) y su marca de rock n roll. Nos saludaron calurosamente y nos sentimos bienvenidos durante toda nuestra visita. Pedimos los nachos veganos para comenzar, la pila de yaca y los platos principales de hamburguesas de yaca, que eran porciones deliciosas y decentes. Además del servicio amable y la comida sabrosa, nos encantó la decoración interior y el ambiente general. Para empeorar las cosas, derramé mi bebida y me dijeron que pagara por la bebida derramada y el reemplazo. Esto se convirtió en un asunto costoso (tal vez vio al turista en nosotros) rápidamente tomamos nuestra bebida y nos fuimos. Es una lástima enorme haber escuchado cosas tan buenas. Por favor, no pierdas el tiempo, evita este lugar.

Excelente servicio, personal amable, a mis hijas les encantó especialmente la comida, ¡a mi hija mayor, que es vegana, le encantó el rick and morty! ¡Las raciones de los niños también eran suficientes! ¡A todos les encantó la mercancía y se fueron con recuerdos! Lo recomiendo encarecidamente, sin duda volveremos a visitar la próxima vez que vengamos a visitar a la familia.

Nice family meal. Definitely recommend the rick and morty meal, the deep fried pickles are extraordinary. The service was also amazing. Overall it was the best place I’ve ever eaten out in. The decoration itself makes me want to go back!

I've been to the Lady Luck quite a lot as a music venue and pub, but never had a meal there.Took my family, sat outside and was spoilt for choice with all the vegan and veggie options.Every dish looked amazing and tasted even better. The children were well looked after and the portion sizes were spot on. Excellent friendly service and felt completely at home.Looking forward to coming back and working my way through the other menu options!!

My friends and I have visited The Lady Luck many times and have always had an excellent night. The staff are very friendly and the choice of drinks is great (they also serve great food with lots of vegan options). Would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in town!

Was looking forward to drinking here as the photos looked cool and quirky, but was a bit disappointed. Hard to tell is the atmosphere is lacklustre due to social distancing or if is has a better vibe on certain nights. I asked if they were likely to have any live music on, and was met with a bit of a snarky response, that you can’t social distance with a band on so not til next year (like I was asking a stupid question). Our drinks were a bit overpriced for what they were. The decor was cool, but the atmosphere didn’t match. We sat in with garden and no one else out there was talking to each other so it was just quiet and weird.All in all, not a great place to hang out, but could just be the result of social distancing measures being a buzzkill.

I took a day trip to Canterbury from Whitstable where I was staying with a friend. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch after our visit to the cathedral and we stumbled upon the Lady Luck. We wanted somewhere with a good choice of food and with some vegan options as I’m vegan. This pub had so many vegan dishes! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many on a pub menu before. The lady at the bar was very friendly and told us we could sit outside as there was a table free shortly. The food was very good and was all home made. I had a very good vegan burger with delicious chips. I would definitely go there again when I next go to Canterbury. I have recommended to my friend in Whitstable who is also vegan.

Excellent consistent pub food with great vegan options at a reasonable price. Special mentions for the burgers (both beef and vegan options) and the nachos with chilli (again with great vegan option). The pub itself is always friendly, with great real ale, craft beer options, and a late opening time.The vibe is very alternative, so if you like rock and metal you'll feel right at home, but the pub is very welcoming to all. The live music nights are always great, and the jukebox is packed full of great music.

I love this place, I come to Canterbury a few times a year to see my son. We always end up here, we love the music, atmosphere, friendly team and clientele. We haven't eaten food here yet, but plan to soon.

I have recently had to go dairy free whilst feeding my baby who has a dairy allergy, and its not always easy when eating out! The lady luck doesn't look like the sort of place that would be great for someone who is dairy free but it was absolute heaven! So many options to choose from, no worrying about substituting ingredients or potential contamination! I had the vegan Carbonara and it was *delicious*. I will visit EVERY time I go to Canterbury!

Great pub food with a good selection of sandwiches and burgers, and really yummy vegan options as well! Very friendly staff as well. Careful though, food service stops at 7pm!

We had a concert in London to go to a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was a great opportunity to visit our favourite restaurant before we got the train. Food was delicious as always, service great, I had BLT with chips, bacon was lovely, had lots of flavour and lovely fresh salad. Hubby had his favourite, the honey rum BBQ chicken burger. Can't wait for our next visit! Lots of Vegan choices too.

The Lady Luck is my favourite pub to go to when I’m in town. My partner and friend ALWAYS get the vegan mushroom and ale pie which is so tasty, I love it but cannot turn down the ‘Rick and morty’ hotdog with battered pickles, it’s just so good!

The Lady Luck is just fab! A great atmosphere, with lovely, friendly staff and management. The food is great - none of that overly-fancy gastro pub nonsense, just delicious home-cooked food (with great vegan options). I can’t praise the Lady Luck too highly!

Really awesome place. I can eat vegan options here while my other half has meat. Really tasty American style junk food and English pub grub. Plus they have a great game cabinet that has Battle Toads!
