TAKEAWAY - ordered 2 veg dishes, egg fried rice and chicken curry. Chicken curry inedible. Meat dry and too tough to eat. Complained immediately suggesting they actually tried it themselves. Was told the boss would phone the following morning. Never heard a word. Would not recommend

The worst Chinese food & takeaway I have had the unfortunate pleasure to come across. The delivery was accepted & we were given a time of 5.19. When it hadn’t arrived at 5.50 I phoned,only to be told delivery doesn’t start until 5.30. Was told the delivery was on its way. I accepted this. My husband went outside to look for it as our address isn’t easy to find. The lady arrived as he went to the end of the road. When we opened the bag, everything was soggy. But thought it was just steam. But upon looking at the contents I was disappointed but prepared to give it a try at the least…….well the batter was either overcooked & very hard or in the case of my lemon chicken very under cooked & pale but the chicken was chewy. Inedible at best. The one star I gave was for the Chicken Chow Mein, this was edible but definitely not worth £27. Lams are off my Christmas card list!

We ordered chicken curry and chicken in garlic sauce and see weed and chicken fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. Really was. Thank you lamb’s chefs.

Steer clear, absolutely disgusting, was supposed to be delivered within an hour, I called and asked where it was to be told it was sat there waiting for a driver, in total it took an hour and a half, food arrived stone cold, chow mein had a layer of grease in the tub, curry sauce had a layer of grease on the top, spare ribs were tough, dry and hardly any meat on them, chicken balls batter was dripping in grease and chicken itself was dry. I had to reheat my order so I could eat it but almost all of it went in the bin. I’ve called the restaurant to complain and when I told them it was cold and greasy I was told “yeah it was, oh well never mind”, when I said I had been using them for years but would’nt be going back I was told “yeah ok never mind”. When I was on the phone the other phone rand and mid conversation the lady just answered the other phone and was talking to them, very unprofessional, it seemed like they couldn’t care less whether I ordered from them again or not and she didn’t want to talk to me as it was too much trouble to deal with. Will not be using again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Uncooked noodles, awful flavour, unappetising appearance. Never again.

Frist impression, very clean and tidy, staffs are polite and friendly, the food is tasty and full with flavour as I have order a variety of whats on the menu. I'm a HGV Driver and work 12 hrs shift most days so LAM'S is always in my recent call list.

Food not good. Chewy batter on spring rolls. Spring roll was battered not filo pastry. Chewy really dry beef. All seemed microwaved. Over cooked veg. I wouldn't say cooked in a wok. Will not be ordering from here again.

Lost its excellence due to service. Orders have been incorrect recently and service is no where near as efficient as it used to be. However, the food is still is excellent.

Always good food, nice and quick and good value for money. Garlic chips are always a must.

The reviews for this place span nearly 10 years. It’s no longer a good take away. Chips tonight were re-cooked. The curry sauce was really sweet, think there was sugar in there rather than salt. Spring roll content seemed to be stewed and grey mix. Such a shame. Used to love this place.

Made a large order for collection. Peanut Chicken satay had no sauce, crispy chill beef had no sauce. Chicken was tough and dry. Felt like it had been precooked and then microwaved. Companies at the time and they said crispy chilli beef should not have sauce, and sent out a tiny tub of cold peanut sauce. Even the delivery driver took photos as it was that bad. Said neither looked right but they were too busy to replace. Won't be going there again.

Always have a good meal from there

Lams used to be my favourite in Gosport, unfortunately The last few times we’ve ordered which isn’t very often lol but it has been absolutely awful, super long waits & super dry tasteless overcooked cold food. Gutted, but will be going elsewhere in the future.

On and off ordered from here for a while food used to be good it’s gone down hill. Food was cold, noodles stodgy, chicken had a hard coating on it like it was yesterday’s or left under a hot light for hours. Won’t be ordering from here any more.

Food was great as always. However the timings not the best. Wasn't even to busy. They had one delivery as I waited and extra 30 mins But when told 30mins on the phone. Then waiting over an hour not good.

Always order here, super quick delivery, food is always amazing! Lovely people, never had a problem. Our last delivery was delivered in 13 minutes! How could we complain about that.

The food was delivered within 20 mins which was a bit off as his can you cook food that quickly as well as delivering it then to find out the food was well over cooked some was inedible. No sauce given with the prawn balls. I for chicken noodle for my daughter but they gave Singapore so it was to spicy! The whole order was a waste of money! Lam's used to be a good takeaway. What's happened?

Always order from Lams and never had any issues, however tonight an hour and 20 mins later and a phone call food arrived we did enjoy however not in thermal bag like normal and was luke warm. Chips where cold and sweet and sour sauce was tepid.

Myself and the partner had this place last night we had chow. Main and sweet and sour pork ball and house special fried rice after a hour of eating my partner started to complain about have a stomach ache and was being sick she came down with food poisoning and the next day I was feeling nauseous all day.

Waited a hour and a half for delivery when I was told 45-60 mins, then what food was delivered was cold, tasteless, Singapore chow mein was just a normal chow mein , pancake roll rock hard and greasy. Then I realised some of my order was missing so I called and asked for the rest which I was told they were on their way 20 minutes later still nothing so I called again and was just told they’re on their way, I asked the girl on the phone to call the driver to see where they were which she reluctantly done. 10 minutes later my delivery turned up, they didn’t have it in a thermal delivery bag and the driver was swinging the carrier bag my order was in back and forth. All in all it took nearly two hours to get a delivery that was supposed to be here in 45 minutes and after all that I ended up chucking most of it away as it was inedible. This is a shame as I’ve always used lams for years but I will never use them again absolutely disgusting food and very poor customer service. Would give zero stars if I could.

They used to be good..... I dont know whats happened but everything is awful now. Foods always cold, always either over cooked or under cooked and the chips are rock hard. Wont be eating here ever again.

Ordered 4 different meals for friends on sat 13 Aug. The satay chicken skewers were overcooked (almost burned) with 1 spoonful of sauce. 2 types of fried rice were dry and tasteless. Ribs also were overcooked and had little taste. Would have brought the lot back but we had laid the table and needed to eat. Won't be buying from there again.

Ordered take away for delivery and as usual the service was excellent. Great response from the girl on the phone and quick delivery. so good we did not throw away anything. Kept for next day. yummy!

I've been using Lam's for over 20 years and have had the most amazing food every single time. The delivery service is excellent and usually the food arrives before the stated time. The staff are friendly and very efficient. In short, this is a first class restaurant. Thanks for the ability to order online now, it's easy and s great way for me to order, shame I can't give 6 stars.

At last, a Chinese take away that caters to vegans! I can still pretty much have all my favourites, just without the meat and dairy.

Nice food and quick delivery apart from this growing trend of reheating chips , I don’t know how they do it but they taste like reheated cardboard . It’s a shame as their once famous garlic chips have taken a turn for the worst , do them fresh and Iam sure more people will be queuing up . I will go to a Chinese that can do this every time as long as the food is nice . In their defence most Chinese seems to do this though .

Chicken in my curry was dry and tough. The curry sauce had a weird fake taste. Definitely wouldn't get it again.

Tasty food, large portions and friendly service makes Lam's a "go to" takeaway. Would recommend.

My husband & I had the Mock Chicken Balls,Mock Chicken Fried Rice & Mock Chicken Curry.It was absolutely delicious & will most definitely be back.We would highly recommend this vegan menu.

Lovely food delivery on time but one of the girls working there is very rude . Maybe change her attitude towards customers like ask nicely to turn my loud speaker off.

Really Expensive Compared to There Rivals... Three meals ordered... Three disappointed Customers left hungry... Possible one of the worst Chinese meals served... It took an age for the staff to answer the phone... Initially we thought this was due to the popularity... But after our experience, was it due to the amount of complaints this Takeaway receives... Chicken, hard, tasteless... Chips were cold... Sweet & sour (HK style) little to say about it apart from was it sweet, no... Was it sour, er not really... Disappointing, yes... Vegetarian Chow Mein & the Rice dishes Unable to carry on saying how undesirable our experience was at this Takeaway has been... The menu that was asked for went in the bin along with most of three meals...

The best Chinese I have ever had!! It was ready within the time frame they said, it was still hot when we got it and it was delicious!! They ensured everything was vegan for us and they had loads of ‘mock meat’ options. We will be using this as our regular from now on!

We have eaten here a lot as the food is pretty good. Sadly the last meal we had was over powering with salt to the point it was stinging our lips and just couldn’t be eaten. We rang and complained only for the owner to tell us our food could not be salty as it’s a popular dish?? She has very poor people skills and wasn’t interested in resolving the issue. We will no longer be ordering from lams.

Moved into a new house a week ago. Saw we had a takeaway round the corner so thought why not. Quite simply excellent food. Will be a regular customer !!!

Having tried a few Chinese Takeaways in Gosport, Lams comes out on top. It offers fantastic value for money, but with a great variety of dishes. The delivery rarely takes any longer than 20 minutes and the food is always flavoursome. Portion sizes are good and their satay chicken skewers are wonderful.

Don't expect delivery after 9:45pm as it's usually a no, this has happened to me 3 times now....bad really as the food is nice,it should say last delivery order 9:30pm not 11 pm.

After skipping lunch due to working...i was starving...stopped here simply to pick up the ever popular garlic chips to take home...early hours of the morning i awoke feeling very unwell... im in my 40s and have not been 'sick' for probably about 20-25 years. But omg was i sick!!!.... need i say ...chips!...enough said...never again!.

The food would be nice I'm sure if it actually turned up warm. Driver rang asking for directions then food turned up 15 minutes later and was stone cold. After an argument on the phone as they claimed the food could never be cold because it's very quick getting from the shop to the delivery, the food actually got replaced. The food that turned up the first time was very greasy and ergh.

We ordered from here last week, lively and hot great food. We had friends round tonight and so ordered again 90 minutes ahead of the time we wanted it which was for 18:30. I called at 18:42 as it was not with us, I was told it had left the kitchen so any minute. It arrived with a driver puffing about it being just and a muted apology for it being late at about 18:50 so twenty minutes late. It arrived in a used box that once had chilled chips in it. When we opened it parts of it were warm, some was cold. We tried to eat it but some of our group just couldn't bear it, so my wife started microwaving it, chic curry, duck with cashews, duck with pancakes, chips, chicken balls, Singapore chowmein, chic chowmein meaning she barely ate with us, we had kids too so had to feed them quickly. Once we'd finished our miserable meal I called the Chinese. The manager/ owner said. "We try our best to deliver it hot, it's really busy though we had lots of orders come in at the same time, the box isn't very good insulation to keep the food hot, it's also very cold this time of year, we cook it on time the rest is up to the drivers" I said that they had delivered other food ahead of mine on the same delivery as that's why it had gotten cold, she admitted that that had been the case. Because we got on with it and microwaved it as we had kids to feed and made the best we could of the situation to there was nothing she could do about it!!! If I had reordered it would be what time when we got our food it was already late with 90 minutes advance notice. She effectively told me that there are lots of challenges for them when it's busy, I agree also, that yes there is, they should not however deliver cold food and admit to all of their failings as above. If a box is poor insulation, you as a business owner need to invest in something insulated to deliver food with not leave a customer with a poor experience at a cost of £45. You also need to manage people expectations better, I order 90 mins ahead, unsurprisingly I expect my food to be good. Not ordering from here again.

Ordered two meals for delivery. The chicken curry with boiled rice and crispy garlic king prawns with a portion of chips. The prawns had been cooked to oblivion, and were so hard I nearly broke a tooth! I was hungry so I tried eating a few by breaking the coating off. The chips were equally overlooked. I called explained and they agreed to come collect it and refund me. They brought a partial refund. Ten minutes after the food was collected and refunded the owner Celia Lam called me and started yelling at me that I was a liar and that I had eaten the food. I explained I had tried but it was impossible. She ranted and yelled at me for several minutes saying that I had cheated them and urging me to do better next time I ordered from them! My family of 5 and I have been regular customers since 2001 when we moved here. We have spent literally hundreds of pounds with Lams but after this experience we will never set foot there or order from them again. This owner Celia Lam is simply the rudest person I have ever encountered. She talks- yells so fast that there is no way to respond at all. It is astonishing that she would treat any one customer this way let alone a regular of 15 years for approximately an £8 refund. Surely anyone with basic business sense would know the damage to customer goodwill and business reputation, together with loss of future business would be far, far greater. It seems that I am not alone in my experience having read other reviews on trip advisor. In fairness to Lams the food used to be really really great and delivery was alway very fast but something has really changed and definitely not for the better. It's a real shame as it takes many years to develop trust in people and their services and it would seem just a 3 minute telephone call to shatter.

We ordered a delivery while staying at local hotel the food was delivered promptly and was of exceptional standard and hot keep up the good work.

The woman answering the phone is the most rudest woman I've ever dealt with in taking my basic order... Don't bother ordering as they don't appreciate there customers

called to make an order lady was rude didn't sound professional at all and couldn't understand English! called back 35 minutes later to see how long food would be she replied " I told you 45 minutes that means 45 minutes" and then she hung up I then called back to cancel order and she said " you won't be able to order with us again"! rude !!

Just ordered a takeaway Chinese , they told us it would be 45 minutes, 1 hour and 20 minutes later it turned it with no apology! We had the chips, which were soggy, the vegetable spring rolls, which were soggy, the chicken in black bean in which the 'sauce' tasted like water. The prawns and squid were OK, nothing special. We will definitely not be returning

The second time they have taken alot mo0re than they should of from my debit card! Its totally unacceptable and all i get form Celia Lam is oh well it'll go back on in 3 days! Pull your finger out and sort your systems out or close your business!

Service standards the benchmark for total profit making for the business and no interest in the customer. If you've had too much on a Friday night and need some quick carbs then this is the place for you. But in fairness to them....ding food at it's best.

This Chinese been in Gosport for 20 odds years with same people ,if they survive that long then they must be doing something right ,nice fresh meals all the time to us

Believe me, I've tried a few! Never disappointing! Quick service too! Their Garlic chips are adored by the whole family.

We have travelled about quite a lot but always want to go back to Gosport to have our Lams takeaway, as it is in our opinion the best we have had. Very varied menu and reasonable prices.

Ordered a take away from here and when it arrived it was missing one of the dishes I had ordered. I phoned up to explain and they did agree to deliver the missing dish,and said it was their fault. I had also ordered some sauce but it turned out it had been missed off the order and I hadn't been charged. I asked if I could order one to come with my missing dish and offered to pay for it. I was told it was on the house due to there previous error. When it did turn up the delivery driver asked me for the cost of the sauce, which I paid. I phoned the restaurant up to ask why they botherd telling me it was on the house if it wasn't. Some how I found myself in an augment with the lady on the other end of the phone all of which seemed very excessive and unjustified to make things worse I couldn't even say that the food was average the best description for it is bland.I don't think I will use this takeaway again

I was unable to get through to our usual chinese (Causeway Bay) as their line was continually engaged ad so I phoned Lams to order some food and spoke to the young girl who passed me to the owner. I asked if they did a 3 in 1 and owner said "no, you have wrong chinese restaurant" and promptly hung up on me. At this point it was only an enquiry and I would have ordered the items individually, but as the owner hung up on me I was unable to tell them that I still wanted food! I would love to be able to share my opinion on the food in this take away but unfortunately due to the lack of manners/patience of the owner I haven't been able to place an order and therefore have never tasted it! I will be returning to Causeway Bay with immediate effect (or as soon as I get through on the phone!!)

I will keep it short. Ordered three dishes. They arrived really (maybe too) quickly. One piece of meat in chicken chowmein. Gristly duck. Phoned to have it collected and to get refund. Argued with on phone by a really rude woman. ALL food collected but only £10 refund given on a bill of £15! This is the first takeaway I have had since moving here and it will certainly be the last.

This is my usual Chinese takeaway. Portions are good, the pancake rolls are huge. Delivery time is usually 30 mins on a busy night.

I have never bought to take away from Lams before, as time would not permit, and being on a yacht we do not often have the water. This time I did have time, so ordered a set meal for one lonely sailor. I was very disappointed as the meat ( chicken and pork ) was very dry, got into my own teeth gaps, spent next two hours dislocating it - and this leads me to believe they boil it, which would certainly dry the fat out.) The fried rice was good. I decided to give another try 2 weeks later and this time I chose à la carte, with a mixed starter, ((BBQ spare rib, crab claw(2) seaweed, and sesame toast, and one house special rice dish.) This was much better though they do not use MSG and sadly the taste was bland. I did not have any salt on the boat, so could not season. The meat pieces are big though, but the plastic boxes are smaller than the metal ones. I think though after two meals there, that I will not be going there, even though it seemed to be busy with deliveries going out the door with English drivers, it has a monopoly in the area as there is nothing close-by. Menu states that closed Mondays and for two annual weeks in the year, daft really when they could get family to cover it. The woman who runs it is not very polite and runs it as a production line, other reviews I have seen indicate that it used to be better. She also treats her staff badly shouting "Alex, Alex ! " - (before Alex has even got off his chair and replied ) Alex Alex ----- I would not like to work there. I hope this takeaway reads this article and someone needs to tell them that people waiting for their food and reading the paper are flies on the wall - we see and hear everything. However food came within about 10 minutes which was acceptable -= waiting area clean, lots of screens - a money making machine that provides average food. Sorry. You can avoid MSG, but use some real sea salt.

What can I say Lams was the only take away Chinese you would have had a few years ago but not anymore, there are lots around that are better and far more polite.

Like others have said - the best Chinese takeaway in Gosport. But be warned their spring rolls are huge and a meal on their own!
