The best Sunday lunch ive had in years. Good size portions, great tasting food, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Highly recommend. Will be back soon. A very big thank you the team

Called in for a few drinks with friends. Ended up looking at the menu witch was great. I had the steak and my maye had the fish and another had the curry. Curry was home made and amazing the fish was just the best a massive fish more like a shark. As fir the steak I asked for rare and it came out perfect. Great size meals and the staff was great could not do enough for you. A great place will be visiting again

Arrived at 13:05 and then waited until 14:20 to actually get any food. By this point, my kids were starving and upset. They also served a table that arrived after us their starters before we had received our meals. Rubbish service. Won't be returning, which is a shame as the food has always been great. Seems like it's gone downhill now, the change in owners.

I'm so sorry to write this, but we were really disappointed with our meal. Starters was a fish cake and tarter sauce. The fish cack was a frozen birds eye one. Mains I had batted haddock and chip, well skinny fries which were anemic and by the time you've ate 3 the rest are cold. Chicken tikka which was just like a meal deal from Tesco. Pulled pork chilli..... I believe they are new to the business and really hope they improve but they totally need to look at the food Thier serving. We glanced through window of kitchen and all you could see was a serving stand and microwaves. However the young girl waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. It is a shame but hopefully feedback will help. I did mention about the chips last night as obviously I didn't eat them but didn't want to come over negative as we stayed for few drinks later. All the best hope things change and we will then give you another try.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch. I had the beef. The Mrs had the belly pork and my daughter had the turkey Beef melt in the mouth Belly pork. Unbelievable Turkey was cooked well Homemade yourkshire puddings. Fresh vegetables. Crispy roast potatoes and a very good gravy. Not as good as mine though. We were very happy and can’t wait to come back. The girls serving us were excellent.

Popped in for a week day evening meal, service was fast and friendly, I had the chilli which was the perfect portion size, slight kick but not overly spicy, and my 2 sons a kids burger. My 1 son has an allergy and the team was able to tell me what he could have and they had dessert to accommodate his needs. Will definitely be back.

We visited on the 24th September and didn’t have the best experience and put it down to teething issues. So we visited again today Sunday 1st October to give it another chance. I have to say what a turn around. The beef dinner was absolutely outstanding and the service was first class. A big thank you to you all. We will be returning.

We went for Sunday lunch on the 24th September and we will not be returning. We ordered the beef brisket which was very tough and came with cold vegetables, what tasted like small frozen Yorkshire pudding and frozen roast potatoes and a very small drop of gravy.. Another 2 tables had similar issues and we all spoke to the young waitresses about it,they apologised and said they would feed back to the boss, in the meantime a couple on the next table decided not to order and left. The manager or chef did not come and speak to any of those who had issues but left it to the 2 young waitresses to deal with it. We felt so sorry for the waitresses who did their best in the circumstances. As I booked online we had an email from table agent asking for a review which I responded but am not expecting a response.

Went here for lunch today; really enjoyed the food. Freshly cooked and hot, the burger tasted amazing. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back

We actually found this venue through the ale trail the day before. They weren’t serving food because of this. So we decided to come back on Sunday We all have beef dinners. So where to start. The Sunday lunch was decent. Good portions of veg. Carrots, broccoli, peas, the roasties and the parsnips were awesome. The beef was nice however it wasn’t as tender as I would like. Perfectly edible. It was hot and arrived quickly We will be back, hopefully the beef will be better. Ohhh and the girls serving today weee fantastic

It was our first visit to The Lamb and Flag and we loved our Sunday lunch everything was fresh, staff were really friendly and so understanding with the little ones, Would really recommend

Came for Sunday lunch, and I have to say absolutely spot on staff were amazing and very attentive, helped in every way they could even with the children. Amazing price for what you get will definitely be back!

Went on recommendation of friends and so disappointed. Food was poor presented, some of it over cooked and other parts cold. Stale "flatbread" that was impossible to cut through and totally over-microwaved peas. No wonder it was empty and the other pubs in the area were busy. Hopefully just a one off but not going back I'm afraid

Very disappointing. Early evening we were the only people in the restaurant area for an hour and they were turning people away during this time?! Main course took almost an hour to arrive and was truly disappointing. Burger so thin, not home made and cost £14.95, chips had reside taste like older cooking oil. Waitress friendly and trying hard but could not make up for the really poor quality food. We should have complained but felt waitress already had an uphill struggle.

WOW! We had the most amazing Fathers Day down at the Lamb & Flag in Wick with the family!The owner and all the staff were fantastic! Massive smiles and great energy throughout the team! Professional, courteous and definitely went the extra mile to make sure our experience was nothing less than 5*.The food was absolutely delicious and came out presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend to all those looking for a wonderful dining experience with family and friends. Thanks again, we will be back soon.

Never been to this restaurant before but noticed their Valentine’s Day menu (for collection) on Facebook. My partner and I were so impressed. The food was Devine. We reheated the food in the oven and it was so tasty. My partner had the beef cheeks and he absolutely loved them they were slow cooked to perfection. Starters, mains and dessert were outstanding. Can’t wait to visit this pub when it opens. Compliments to the chef ‍

Very welcoming old pub, warm xmassy and the Sunday lunch was superb, plenty of everything and piping hot, the service by the two ladies exceptional especially in these challenging times. Cannot wait to return

Just booked for post fire break Sunday lunch, having last visited before local lockdown ........and can't wait!!! Welcoming staff, fantastic food, Sunday lunch like homemade and easily the best dessert I've EVER had it was Eton Mess Meringue.Would recommend to anyone who wants a safe and relaxing experience in a lovely venue with excellent food.

Just had a takeaway from this wonderful pub, I had the Dirty Burger with the Triple Cooked Chips.......WOW, the burger performed a lambada with my tastebuds and the chips were cooked to absolute perfection, service was 10/10 and I cannot fault the staff. Will be back soon with reinforcements

Not much to say, bar GREAT!!!!! Looking at the menu, I've been advised to take the fish and chips.. Now, I am NOT a F&C person, as I normally find it too greasy, but here I had the best fish and chips ever.. Beautiful white fresh fish, covered by the lightest batter, Fabulous. The host was friendly and courteous, who respected the social distancing to fine art.... Highly recommend it.

A very warm and welcoming local village pub with food to match. Sunday lunch was well presented and cooked, fresh veg great roasties fall apart beef . Chicken done too a T and tasty fish & chips completed the main course. Desserts finished the afternoon. Reasonably priced which is nice. Would recommend booking as it's quite small but cosy. Well worth a visit, will be back.

Lovely food. Interesting menu. Imaginative starters and mains. Enticing home made deserts.good prices. Seems that food is largely cooked fresh to order so that took time. They can certainly put out a nice meal. We were there on a Saturday lunchtime.Cosy, pub with log fire. So what was not to like? The service was oh so slow! We waited over an hour for our food and had to enquire..how long?Service is friendly enough but there seems a bit of a staff shortage. Some of the locals are a little inconsiderate and overengaged the single bar assistant/ waitress in long stories while people were trying to get served in both the bar and lounge restaurant. We were in the place from 1.30 until nearly 4.00 p.m. Ok as we were not pushed for time, but could have been annoying if we needed to get somewhere else and would have been difficult if we were a family having to keep kids under control. Otherwise a positive experience.Very small car park. Dogs accepted. Vegetarian options and gluten free alternatives seem to be available. 4 star score on the door.

What a fantastic experience, first impression was the cleanliness, absolutely spotless despite it being busy. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were sat down immediately, we had a drink first before ordering our meal. Whilst savouring the gorgeous aroma of the food being served it was obvious how well run this establishment is, the staff were very efficient at serving the meals to the tables and extremely friendly (but not in a false way) the atmosphere was superb. We decided to order and my partner had a beef dinner whilst I opted for fish and chips. The beef dinner was beautifully presented and of generous proportions, according to my partner it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The fish was tasty and the batter was to die for, the triple cooked chips were as perfect as chips could get, every mouthful was absolutely sublime in taste and texture. The staff were always visible without being in your face and I cannot sing their praises enough. Can’t wait to come back. 5 stars

Visited here on a wet saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised that they serve food all day on a saturday. We didn't want a full meal and the Bar Nibbles menu was much different to the average lunchtime menu of sandwiches,bagettes and jacket potatoes that you normally find in other pubs. We had dates wrapped in bacon, crispy kale, lamb meatballs with mint yoghurt dressing and salad and fried potatoes with ragu and melted cheese all freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. With1 soft drink and a pint of beer less than £15. The main menu looked really appealing as did the special board. The lady behind the bar was super friendly and she advised us sunday lunch is served until 5pm but it was adviseable to book. We will defintely be back.

What a fab place to have a meal! Beautiful cooked and presented food, great choice of restaurant meals and innovative bar snacks! The menu changes regularly and there’s a really warm welcome. Plenty of choices of wines and beers and a Sunday lunch to die for! A real gem in the Vale of Glamorgan and conveniently situated to the Heritage Coast to be able to walk off those calories afterwards! Give it a try!

An absolutely amazing countryside pub in the heart of the picturesque Vale Of Glamorgan. The staff were very accomodating, warm and friendly, which matched the quality of the food which was also offered!If I could post 11 out of 10 I certainly would! Highly recommended!

We were staying just round the corner in a holiday let, this was the nearest pub, thought we'd give it a go on the first night, didn't bother with the one further up the road, settled on this one. Friendly staff, great selection of beers, guest ales included. There are 2 sides to the pub, one side has a pool table and dart board whilst the other is a little more cozy, sadly the fire was not lit but I am sure that adds to the coziness.

This is one of two very good pubs in Wick that serve good food and great ales. Recently changed hands, the old team has largely been retained, and that makes the welcome and familiar feel as you enter. Josie the chef was just arriving, and after preparing her kitchen, we knew we were in for a treat. Her cooking is sublime, and she always comes out to ensure her diners are enjoying her food. My wife rates the flatiron staeks as some of the best she has ever eaten, out having clocked up a lot of air-miles over the last 10 years, that is praise indeed. There is always a reasonably priced guest ale, and the house wine goes down a treat....so my wife says! Log-fires too.

Called in for lunch,four adults with two dogs after a very muddy walk. Courteous welcome and very dog friendly. The light bite/lunch menu is not extensive but we all had different items and they were all excellent. Highly recommend.

The choice of food was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly. There is a nice choice of real ales and food portions are quite large baking it value for money. The quality of the food is also excellent and we will certainly go there again. Highly recommended

Sometimes, all a pub/restaurant needs is a bit of TLC, and that’s what the new management seem to have done. A roaring fire is very welcoming and the Winter Berry candles on each table made the ambience almost perfect! We were greeted with a smiling face and felt right at home!

Out on a shopping trip and decided to stop somewhere for Sunday lunch checked on Trip advisor and Lamb and Flag was recommended, staff were 1st Class and the best Sunday Lunch I’ve had in years a must visit , we also had a pate starter between us and it was outstanding from presentation to taste. Had a gorgeous lunch with my friend. We both had Haddock, soda batter, red lentil Dahl, mint & cucumber yoghurt and a portion of their lovely chips between us. We will definitely be returning.

The Lamb and Flag is an old village pub, nicely decorated with very friendly staff. The menu is not restricted to Sunday lunch as is the case in many other restaurants. On our visit there was a choice of beef or chicken served with plenty of potatoes and a good variety of vegetables. The meal was very nice as were the deserts. We finished off with filter coffee.

A real hidden gem. The menu is varied and the food cooked to perfection with a good veggie selection. The chips are amazing and the ginger sponge with caramel sauce is to die for! Very friendly and relaxed.

Visited last weekend for a family meal. We were accommodated in the Bar which was lacking in atmosphere, but as we booked late, were happy to be squeezed in. Staff lovely, food great for adults & kids (beef a bit fatty though), chips and croquettes top drawer. Beer good also. Enjoyed.

Friendly Staff, and food fine but seated (table of ten) in a soulless function room next to the toilets and smelling of bleach. Would have been good to know on booking.

Have visited here previously and had a lovely sunday lunch so decided to go again. Unfortunately we waited over an hour for our lunch as we were told by the waitress that our order hadn't been put through? That was 50 minutes in, then we were told it wouldn't be long, then it took an additional 20 minutes! We were starving and although tempted to leave thought we'd have a longer wait elsewhere by this point. Such a shame as food is really good, but is not great when you're really hungry and have to wait over an hour. We were sat in a different area with a pool table and it was quite cold, especially after waiting so long.

Called in the lamb and flag today for Sunday lunch, we’ve been here before so we knew the food was good. We hadn’t booked but a table was available, we placed our order the waitress was very nice brought our drinks and 35 minutes later she noticed we were still sitting there, she asked to remind her what we’d ordered and said she would go and check on it 10 minutes later she said only 2 more seconds, a further 5 minutes and still no sign of it so we decided to leave, they did let us off with the drinks but what a shambles..

Had a fabulous meal here tonight. Made to feel very welcome. The food was fantastic. Fantastic steak and triple cooked chips. All beautifully presented and reasonable prices. Dog made very welcome too. Thank you.

A fab traditional little pub, we were so happy that we found this place and we were able to get a table for their Sunday roast as was very busy in the dining area. We had a mixture of the meat and the chicken on our table with a large selection of veg, 2 types of potatoes and a big Yorkshire pudding. The chicken was lovely and very tasty but the beef was outstanding! I very much had food envy... If you are in the area then definitely book a table. I would live to go back to try a few other items on their menu.

Dropped in on the off chance that they could squeeze us in for a Sunday lunch (they do get very busy) The meal was beautiful, plenty of veg and meat and a really good serving of gravy. Glenda the bar barmaid and Josie the chef made us feel really welcome. What a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday.

Returning to this local pub for an early evening meal, after enjoying 'Widows' at the cinema, we were delighted to be warmly greeted by Emma who offered us a table without hesitation. She pointed out that there were several reservations later in the evening, so if we ordered our meals, we would be served quickly. She gave us the menu card and showed us the specials board, recommending the 'Flatiron ' steaks something my wife and I have never eaten. They were outstanding. Cooked beautifully, the steaks are taken from the animal's shoulder, and were plumb, juicy and ample. Along with some really good triple cooked chips, pepper sauce and thyme flavoured tomatoes, we agreed the food was knockout. Bill was £42, and included a large Merlot and an outstanding Spitfire ale.

Food wonderful, but Oh Dear, the service, or rather the lack of it, soured the whole experience. Although there were only 6 other people in the Restaurant when we arrived we had to wait 15 minutes for the Menus and then we had to rely on 2 locals to point out the 'Specials Board' . At no point did anyone ask if we were happy with our food or offer a coffee to finish and we had ask for our bill at the Bar. Not quite the standard you expect when you're paying £60+ for Supper for two! The quality of the food was excellent and it was lovely to see they allow dogs in the restaurant, but I don't think we'll be rushing back, not with so many other places to eat in the 'Vale'.

As a family of four eating out can be tricky -two teenagers & 3 vegetarians. Based on previous reviews we visited the Lamb and Flag today and had the best pub meal ever. Every dish was a delight and Glenda was warm, welcoming and a complete delight. We can’t recommend the quality of the food enough. Superb!

Came here on a Sunday evening in the hope of food and we received a lovely meal. The food was absolutely lovely, each member of our party throughly enjoyed their meals and the atmosphere. Will be back again!

We have just eaten lunch here (6 september). On arrival we were greated by Glenda who was very helpful and cheerful and nothing was to much trouble.

Have eaten here on a number of occasions, the last being on Saturday as a party of 10 family.

Our first visit to this charming old country stone-built pub, I selected the “beef roast” option which turned out to be, most unusually for pub roasts, not roasted but braised. Looking rather like a pulled beef thick steak, the meat was very tender and full of flavour and a welcome change from the usual tasteless topside served in many pubs. The roast potatoes were crispy and floury, the mixed boiled carrot and parsnip cubes were hot and tender, the mixed cabbage and pea dish was hot and tender, the Yorkshire pudding crispy and the gravy boat warm. Horseradish sauce was available. My partner had a goats cheese platter which she enjoyed. This pub is a gem with real ales on draft. Booking recommended though we were fortunate to be offered a booked table not required for another 90 minutes.

My wife and I have just enjoyed a very good dining experience at the Lamb & Flag in Wick, Vale of Glamorgan. Enjoying somewhat a renaissance under its new management, it's reputation for good, wholesome food is growing by the day. I was quite faint in my praise when last visiting the pub for grub some 3 years ago, but I have to admit that the food has been transformed by Josie, the chef, employed by the new owner managers. After enjoying ample sized starters of fish cakes and platters of feta cheese, pitta breads, humous and queen olives, we happily tucked into our mains of fish of the day, and a beef burger, craftily seasoned, the best I've ever eaten! I was also invited to try the 'Hookey Gold' a craft pale ale brewed in the Cotswolds, and boy what a beer. We were served by Danny who was able to accommodate serving at the bar, as well as serving several tables, most of whom were walk-ins, so booking is probably a better idea. She hails from Lithhuania and clearly works very hard to please her guests, an ethic rarely seen in UK workers, so God help us when Brexit is imposed and all these good people are forced to leave.

Never having visited Glamorgan before the Lamb & Flag was our first stop for lunch! We were greeted with a very warm welcome from the staff. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was delicious. A very good start to our break.

I visited with my partner and parents and we will all return. The food was so fresh it was so tasty and I can’t say enough positives about it.

We stayed in a house in Wick for a few days and ate in the pub twice. The first time there was a quiz which was good fun and the second time we were with family and friends. As there was 11 adults & 3 children for Sunday lunch we ate in the games room.

We visited for a spot of lunchtime starters and main course were amazing. They were freshly prepared, tasted amazing and we will definitely visit again.

The Lamb and Flag is a delight! I had to try the burger, having read so much about it here and it did not disappoint. Super tasty and the ragu topping is a stroke of genius, highly recommended. My husband had the veggie burger and really enjoyed it too. Would definitely visit again. Thank you to the lovely staff.

We called here on a saturday as they do food earlier than most pubs in the area. The welcome in the bar was cold, as was the temperature. We sat down and nobody came to give menus, only when the cook took the order were we asked if we were cold, and she put heating on and there was no fire lit. Thefood when it came was not as expected.

First visit there for evening meal and certainly won't be our last. We all had cheesey garlic bread, which was so different and yummy. We all had the burger for main course which was simply the best burger we have ever tasted. We all had different desserts which we all agreed were a fab. All dishes on menu fairly priced. The service we really good although they were very busy. Would strongly advise to book a table in advance not to be disappointed. All in all a great eatery.

The pub has recently started a breakfast menu on weekends... you wont be disappointed! Breakfast is now also following in the tradition of fabulous meals at the Lamb. The large breakfast menu ranges from an excellent Eggs Benedict to a full Vegan fry up! 'Super!' will highly recommend !!!

My husband and I decided to just go for a drive and stop off for some lunch . The lamb and Flag is a beautiful and quaint the service was outstanding made us feel very welcome and at home ... we both had the Sunday lunch which was outstanding and I finished off with a lovely pot of tea and the Raspberry pavlova with Raspberry sorbet I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful pub to anybody... outstanding

We were talen to this pub for dinner by our Welsh friends. I could not recommend this pub restaurant more highly. I had the scotch egg starter followed by perhaps the best burfger I have tasted in ages. For dessert I had the stick toffee pudding. Jo the chef is amazingly talented and I was totally surprised that she even made fresh custard to go with the sticky toffee pudding.

We thoughly enjoyed our meal at the Lamb and Flag. Crispy homemade chips. Tasty steak. Very jealous I didn't choose the pannacotta dessert! Yum

Thought we would have a Saturday night out. Noticed that they also had music on, so we were looking forward to our night out with friends. Music was brilliant, wine was not. I really do not like warm white wine. Talking to staff we found out that the fridge had been broken for sometime. They were doing there best to keep it cold in ice buckets, but this was not working. Management please repair or replace your wine fridge. Then we maybe back. From unhappy locals.

Se han convertido en clientes habituales aquí en los últimos meses. La comida es siempre excepcional y cocinado a la perfección (Categoría) top chef. El Domingo almuerzo delicioso - la carne es tan tierno! Los precios son muy buenos para la comida y las bebidas. No me puedo quejar de nada! El personal es muy acogedor y amable.

Después de comprar uno pasando por Sábado decidimos visitar y cenar en el cordero y la bandera.

Menú genial imaginativo. Cuatro de todos nosotros elegimos red distinto y todos eran felices. Para mí, no me pude resistir el sonido de la carne hamburguesa con ragu, bacon, queso y mucho más. Excelente opción, el sabroso sabor rico al ragu añadido la hamburguesa, y sería una base fantástica para otras comidas.

Overall, we liked this traditional pub. On a positive, the pub maintains an authentic feel and is not part of one of the big chains. Frequented by locals, but also welcoming to visitors. A varied and pretty good menu - but our one criticism would be - where are the vegetables? We literally couldn't find any vegetables on the menu (unless you classify chips and baked potato as vegetables). People are increasingly wanting to have better quality food these days with salads and vegetables etc - maybe think about adding a little more healthy variety to the menu. But overall we liked the place and would return for a pint.

I'm so glad we drove by this village today as we love this pub. The last few times we've passed the restaurant has been closed so it's great to see it up and running again.We ordered fishes and chips and a gammon steak.All the meals were freshly prepared and tasted delicious. The crispy chips are to die for!The staff were friendly and helpful which is always a bonus.For dessert my parents had a Black Forest gateaux and an ice cream.The meals plus 3 soft drinks came to a tad over £40 - bargain!My only disappointment was the dessert menu - some homemade cake and custard would have been nice. We'll definitely go back as this is the quaintest little pub around.Thanks for a great meal xxx

We went there as we'd heard the owners of Arbennig have just taken it over.We were surprised as it doesn't offer the same food as Arbennig at all but, having said that it is delicious, proper pub food. The atmosphere is lovely with stone walls and low ceilings and a roaring fire. The staff are friendly and attentive and we had lovely prawns to start with and then I had gammon egg and chips and my husband had the fish and chips. It was all delicious and I can thoroughly recommend this pub to anyone looking for good classic pub food.

We've been to the pubs sister restaurant a few times and loved it. I hear the Sunday lunches are good at the lamb but we just came on a normal night. The pub itself is very nice atmospheric. The welcome and service from the staff was faultless from start to finish. The only disappointment for me was the food and wine. A bottle of kontuku Sauvignon that we have at the swan was £5 more expensive in here at about £23. £13 for a burger is the going rate but this clearly had a high breadcrumb ratio in it making it spongey. Excellent chips. The nachos starter was ok but small. Food served on bits of paper on nice traditional plates made for an odd eating experience. Soggy. The oddest thing of all was the way condiments were served. Our friend had a perfectly nice rump £17 but all the condiments came in the cheapest of cheapest roadside cafe sachets. Bad mustard on a food steak = ? . This has the makings of a great country pub with a few tweaks.

Two fires roared as we ordered Sunday lunch in this atmospheric pub which is clearly a focal point in the community. The food was as wonderful as the welcome. We were offered a full menu, a lighter lunch menu or the sunday roast, which was chicken - which is what we ordered. The meat came with plenty of veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and tasty gravy. Would absolutely recommend, but you might want to think about making a reservation. We were there at noon, and by 1pm it was full with almost every table taken. When we left my Dad said: "We'll go there again." High praise indeed!

1st time here. Lovely warm welcome, excellent food & service. Catered for children not wanted roast dinners, would definitely return.

My wife, adult daughter and I spent the night at the inn (reviewed separately) and had our dinner there. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Although I am an American, my ancestry is 100% Welsh. My dad grew up in Swansea and my mother’s family was from Ystradgynlais. So, of course, we had to try the Steak and Ale Pie and the Fisherman’s Pie. Both of these dishes were delicious. I also tried the whitebait, which was new to me. I’m glad I did. The server, Angharad, was very friendly and very effficent. We three also enjoyed the comraderie and friendliness at the bar. Prices were very reasonable and there is plenty of parking in the inn’s lot. I’m afraid that it may be a while before I can get back, but I will when I can.

Our first visit since the chef of Arbennig in Cardiff took over; we were not disappointed. We had the Sunday roast, which was succulent pork with crispy crackling, great roasties, and al dente vegetables, followed by sticky toffee pudding. We could not have asked for more on a cold lunchtime, particularly eating next to the roaring open fire. The staff and service were excellent, satisfying our every need including providing extra gravy - we'll certainly come again!
