Lalbagh Bangladeshi & Indian Diner in South Cambridgeshire

Mixed bag of excellent and mediocre. Was a nice change since I hadn’t been before. The chutney and the raitha with the popadoms was the worst I ever had. The starter and the main were delicious. The service was ok.

Amazing curry restaurant the likes of which I’ve not found before in Cambridge! Coming from Leeds where there are loads of great curry restaurants I’ve struggled to find anything in Cambridge that cuts the mustard. That was until I found Lalbagh!

This is by far my new favourite restaurant to visit. The service and friendly staff are exceptional. The menu has a very wide range of choices, and there is something for everyone. The food itself is very tasty with exceptional flavours and of very good quality. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I couldn't fault it in anyway. My brother booked for my daughter, sister in law and I to go out for lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. We were visiting for the day and he chose this restaurant as he had heard about it from friends. Lalbagh is in a little village called Bourn, and has a very scenic setting. We walked in a nearby meadow after our meal and the surrounding area is very picturesque. We received a warm welcome on arrival at the restaurant, and a table was beautifully set for our party. The whole decor of this restaurant is tasteful and modern, as well as being spotlessly clean. The service was excellent and all our orders were taken and arrived in perfect time. As for the food, it was spectacularly presented and absolutely delicious. We all enjoyed everything. Please see my pictures. My daughter and I loved the deserts too, they were like delicious little works of art. Highly recommended, you must visit.

We stayed at the Cambridge Belfry for a couple of nights and found their menu limited therefore we searched nearby for an alternative and came across Chutney Joe. However their reviews were not very good and someone on there suggested Lalbagh Bangladesh to be far better and nearby. They were very right, the food was delicious and the menu extensive with ample choice. It appears very popular judging from the numbers of People dining that evening. The prices are reasonable and the staff very pleasant and professional. I'll definitely return when I'm in the area.

Another fabulous meal. However, the lamb shank meal was rather salty and dry but everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their choices.

We feel so blessed to have this fabulous restaurant in our village. It is hands down the best Indian food I have ever eaten. It never disappoints and the ambience and staff are also first class.

Our party of 8 (and 18 month old baby) were made most welcome at the Lalbagh Diner. We all enjoyed 5* food with impeccable service by the waiters who attended to our every need. This restaurant is highly recommended and we will definately return.

My favourite curry house in this area!

Visited for the fist time recently, excellent dishes, all very tasty, good service, nice location with car park. Some dishes slight pricey, but this is the best Indian resto I've been to in a long while. Will be back to eat in or takeaway.

A genuinely wonderful restaurant. We've been here in the evening for the tasting menu and during the day for a family anniversary celebration with small children, and it doesn't disappoint. The black mutton and rhubarb fish are highlights for us. We will be back again and again.

We just booked a table at this restaurant for our anniversary dinner and have arrived to find there's no parking available with the only option to park in a wet and muddy street. To say we're beyond livid is an understatement, why accept bookings if you can't accomodate your customers?

Totally exceptional. Lalbagh has clearly considered every facet of the restaurant experience and makes an effort to deliver the very best. We were incredibly impressed with the attention that was given to each dish, from the very top with the starters that had a certain amount of drama to them, to the desserts that were quite fun. The mains were well portioned, well seasoned and obviously skillfully envisioned. The staff were courteous and warm, and the little (free!) touches such as the hand wipes, orange slices and evening chocolate tipped the scale to make the dining experience really quite luxurious. My final thought is that contrary to my expectations in Cambridgeshire, this experience was really well priced.

Was in Cambridge for a night travelling through and felt like an Indian meal. Fantastic service and out of this world food with so much flavour. Well worth the visit.

Superb food, service and atmosphere.

We booked on Lalbagh's website. Very easy. Sadly our friends couldn't join us but all the couples were offered tables for four on Sunday night. I thought this was a nice touch and we felt as if we could spread out and enjoy our meal without having to sit on top of the next table which sometimes happens in successful restaurants. We had a starter and a main. My salmon was delicately flavoured but my husband's onion bhajis were deliciously spiced and perfectly cooked. He had a good sized portion of four for the money. He then had a plain Chicken Tikka with boiled rice but the chicken was excellent. Great taste. And I had a Dakeshwari Lamb Shank. Excellent value and another goodly sized portion - so much so, I took half home and had it for lunch this evening with what was left of the boiled rice. We'll certainly be back. I love well cooked, well spiced food and Lalbagh certainly provide this. And the serving staff were perfect too.

First time at this restaurant. Food was stunning. Such a diverse menu from the normal curry house menu. Rhubarb sea bass to die for! Service was excellent. They were very helpful in helping us choose. We could have eaten everything on the menu. Recommend you go. You won't be disappointed!

Went for our Anniversary dinner and was not disappointed- the service was excellent and all the staff clean and presentable compared to other indian restaurants i have visited around Cambridgeshire- all the food was well presented and i have too say the very best we have had in a very long time compared to other restaurants with the chicken madras outstanding . Well done to the chief and staff who go that extra mile to make this gem of a restaurant stand out from the rest . Thank you for our anniversary desert on the house . Well done all .

The only place I would travel out for some Bangladeshi Indian food! Never been disappointed with any of their items on the menu. The quality and taste of their food is spot on, not only tastes divine but the detail in presentation makes you salivate! The only restaurant where I can actually taste the love in their food.

Lovely food in a nice location - be aware food and drink is 10% more than the menu prices if you are a party of 5 or more, so not suitable for larger groups - ideal for individuals, couples and small groups of 4 or less who will order less food and drinks and spend less than larger groups. Strange policy but it’s on the small print at the bottom of their menu.
